Iconic monument which a 'must see' if you are in New York City.

I would recommend booking tickets for the Ferry in advance as they sometimes sell out fast.

Access to the monument is not always available, and likewise access to the Crown so check when you are booking.

When you board the ferry, there is airport style security so be prepared to wait, and get there a little early.

"The Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World" was a gift of friendship from the people of France to the United States and is recognized as a universal symbol of freedom and democracy. The Statue of Liberty was dedicated on October 28, 1886. It was designated as a National Monument in 1924. Employees of the National Park Service have been caring for the colossal copper statue since 1933.

Went for the 1st time with my family. We were on a school trip from Los Angeles. My twins played in Carnegie Hall. We visited the Rockefeller building and got the view from the top. We then went to visit lady Liberty. Be sure to book your visit way in advance if you plan on going to the top of the torch. There's a big wait and we only made it to her feet.
I love history and learning about lady Liberty was awesome.
The fairy ride to lady liberty was fun and their food court is not that bad.
We passed by Ellis Island on the way back, and definitely plan on going there when we go back. Time square was beautiful and I love how face paced New York is. FYI... No one follows the cross walk signs. They cross on red all the time and I seen at least 20 people almost get hit by cars.
No one cares. You get bumped in the arms all the time by pedestrians and no one says excuse me.
New York is a wonderful city and it be even better if liberal idiots didn't run it.
We'll be back to visit again and to walk around the city.

This was such a Beautiful sight. I can imagine the immigrants coming for across the ocean and seeing this Beautiful tribute to the land of the free!
My family and I enjoyed walking around the square and in seeing Lady liberty stand straight and proud! It is Magnificent opportunity to see this Iconic piece of America. God Bless America!!

Everything thing that I expected. Where comfortable shoes and be prepared to climb steps due long lines at elevator. Limited space at the base, I went during the week but there were still lots of visitors.

Really great experience. If you go to New York, you have to visit, it's a must. You get to understand how the immigrants that built this great city felt when arriving there. Combine it with a visit to Ellis Island to get a better understanding. The rangers there really love their job. The whole thing costs like 18.5$. Avoid and don't believe the guys selling tickets at battery Park. Just go to the official website and purchase from there.

Wow! What an amazing experience I had on this trip! I came from Newport beach Calif for my first time to NYC and this was the most important event for me to see. I was so happy to be able to see the Statue of liberty so close and be able to go inside and to the top if her, even though it was so cold and raining my heart felt warm. Just to be able to take the tour and get all the info. On how she came about so interesting. You need to make this tour apart of your stay when you go to NY! You won't be disappointed.

Historical monuments having prime place of pride in the free modern world. Great to see the masonic cornerstone very well preserved and to know the role of Freemasons in the modern world. Very lucky to have pedestal access and therefore be able to view all the cornerstones put by other guilds as well.

Just spectacular! Well worth the price. There is a new museum that is in in a separate building. We did not know this and went through the "old" museum not knowing why so many of the artifacts had been removed. The old museum was highly informative. The new museum is more progressive and still has good info. Fully recommend taking advantage of all the amenities offered with the price of the ferry.

This place Need to experience by yourself

It was Monday morning around 10am
We queue up 60mins for the tickets
Another queue nearly 120 mins for security check and boarding the cruise boat
*believe they can improve the waiting time

We brought a package ticket including cruise boat to both Statue island and Ellis island, plus the audio equipment for both place

The highlight was the cruise boat enabling us to have excellent viewing both the Statue island and the Entire viewing of Manhattans city.

The foundation of our Nation. Great place to take the kids, have a picnic and take pictures. A next place to visit would be the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. but to have the Statue of Liberty in NYC is a great honor and everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.

You can purchase tickets at the visitor center or purchase ahead of time online. If you want to visit the pedestal and crown you need to purchase ahead of time. During busier times of the year (spring and summer), those tickets sel out months in advance. You can get the special Statue of Liberty ferry (different than the free Staten Island ferry at Whitehall Ferry Terminal) at Battery Park on lower Manhattan or New Jersey. Statue of Liberty has a new museum. There s a gift shop and food court available. Then take the next ferry to Ellis Island or back to Battery Park. Ellis Island is an amazing building with multiple exhibits.

The fact that you can get on a ferry and climb up inside the Statue of Liberty is amazing. If you can't get a ticket to get up inside, you will be left to just walk around the outside of the island and looking at the Statue. The views of lower Manhatten from the ferry and the island are awesome. The audio tour provided by the National Park Service is amazing and made this otherwise plain island with the Statue of Liberty on it a more educational and interesting place.

The visit to the statue of liberty is by far one of the most memorable events I've probably embarked on when it comes to visiting sites with historical significance.
I went with friends few years back and can say I had a true blast. Before arriving, my friends and I stopped in Manhattan to share a couple pies of NYC Pizza! OH YEAH!!!!

Every self-respecting American should visit this place. Well, tourists, too, of course. It is a symbol of the independence of the United States. This is a world-wide monument. And the view of the city from a height is impressive. Must visit!

Amazing monument - the inept and obnoxious security ruined the experience. I fly almost every other week and am used to TSA - these people made TSA look like super stars. The were slow (and it was raining and not crowded) and really bad at their job. They seemed confused by car fobs and umbrellas. On kept speaking Spanish to my blonde hair/blue eye daughter (who does speak a little Spanish but not at a primary language). Not sure I would go back based on the effort it took to get in.

One of best monuments to be seen before u die and best time to travel on weekend from the jersey side and also try to book in advance for crown tickets (Best view from the top of statue ).An icon of America, so we wanted to make sure we did out trip justice, so made sure we booked the Crown access early, I think I booked in March '17 for our visit in July '17, to ensure we had crown access tickets, as none available on the day!. We saw lots of disappointed families who didn't realise, and who even queued in the line for crown/ pedestal access thinking they could get in with a general ticket.
Be aware of the airport style security before you even get onto the ferry, so if you purchase say a 12 noon ticket in the expectation of getting to the statue at that time, no, that's the time you can get started on the security clearance and the ferry journey before getting to Liberty Island. Book an early timed access ticket, so you can also get to Ellis island same day.
Crown access well worth it, but be advised that the steps leading to the crown after pedestal level are very narrow spiral stairs, I just about managed to fit at 6ft 6" tall.
Museum very interesting at the base of the statue about the history and construction of Liberty.

I loved this experience! I went up to the crown. It is a tight area so it's not for people who get clastraphobic. The museum is amazing and it's definitely worth it to use the audio guide.

Fantastic interactive tour. Worth it!!! But, beware the bike taxis. They charge $6.50 per minute. Friends got stuck paying $120.00 for a 4 block ride back to hotel.
Empire State building is wonderful. Go see for sure. I will go back!

Sadly the pedestal tickets were sold out when we visited, but we had a great day visiting. The fog from all of the rain gave a really fun and eerie look to the island and the city. Can't wait to come back again when the new museum building is complete and our son is older so we can hopefully visit the crown. Definitely a must see for people visiting the city that love history.

The addition of the new Museum and the interactive displays that are inside the new Museum makes it a wonderful and even more wholesome visit. The information is provided in bite sized portions that makes them so easy to digest and not too overbearing for the modern person on a fast pase or low attention span. If you've visited the park before the museum I suggest you give it a revisit. There is now an addition of photographers who bombard you to take official pictures; I wish they would just have a stand and a little sign and if you want the picture you ask them for the service instead of the need to bombard guests with their upsell. They could also offer to take pictures for guests on using the guests device for a dollar or something. That would be much better. Overall, nonetheless, it's still worth the visit. Get on the island, get your audio guide and put a little history in your head. Oh!!! And by the way how could I forget! The park rangers that work in the museum are sooooooooooooooooooooooo amazing!!! Specifically this young woman that works around the torch display! She was so helpful, kind and insightful! She's like the perfect history teacher. She just makes you want to learn. Her demeanor is so nice and warm.

Wonders of the world! Beautiful monument, great views of the city.. windy and cold , the ferry service could have been better and faster.. they make you wait for a long time to board the ferry while the ride itself takes only 10 mins

Wow

There is a tip for all who wants to go to liberty island to visit the statue of liberty. One must do the booking online as sometimes the booking is ahead for 3 months. In other case you can see it from the ferry tour from 500 meters away. The tour is also nice and they keep telling you all the details and answer all your question. If you are adventurous you can ride in NY helicopter tour and see the statue from air

Wow great ride to there. Make sure to get a ticket before hand. And ask them to give the ticket to go inside the statue. I didn't know it earlier and I couldn't go inside the statue because it was not written in my ticket. There is no place inside the statue park to buy the ticket again. So clarify all the questions before getting in to the ferry.

Great experience to go to Liberty Island and see the statue of liberty. It is not only a landmark of NYC, but of America as a whole. I loved it. However, it's not as big as I thought.

Fantastic day out in New York. The walking tour with the radio devices help you to walk around. Make sure you read the hisiorical information at the checkpoints to get the most out of your time. Also check out the ice cream parlour!

Pro tip: Buy your ferry tickets online in advance. Our family only had to wait about an hour in line to get on a ferry to the island because we reserved tickets in advance, where others had to wait 4-5 hours in line to get tickets on site. The statue itself is incredible and well worth the visit.

Reliable price! Unfortunate we didn t have a chance to get to the crown. So, buy tickets in 2-3 month in advance. And go there in the morning to see both Stature of Liberty and Ellis Island!

Only one thing I m VERY DISAPPOINTED about is employees on the Liberty island!!! Very rude and unfriendly!

The best tour and guide --Patrick. Very knowledgeable and patient w the group. He gave us plenty of time to explore but kept us on schedule. A tour to remind us all of our connectedness --our country is amazing. We should continue to welcome the 'huddles masses'. This tour reminds us of our humanity.

For everyone that supports our horrible anti immigration president this is a must visit. You can appreciate how our country grew and became a world power on the sweat and tears of immigrants. Incredible place to witness first hand how anyone can make it here without having to blame foreigners.

The only reason I don't give it five stars is because I was disappointed with their souvenir selection. There were much better Statue of Liberty souvenirs to be found in New York itself. Other than that, everything else was wonderful!

A historic must visit item for anyone once in their lives. It wasn't all about the stature of liberty but the views over Jersey city Manhattan and Brooklyn where also amazing. You could really see how many people live in the area as it is city to all directions you look. I strongly recommend that you jump off at Ellis Island too and visit the immigration museum

I definitely recommend anyone coming to see this statue to purchase their tickets way ahead of time. To get up to the crown tickets are usually sold out three to four months in advance. Luckily I got my tickets online I was able to skip the huge huge line in Battery Park. Finally we got to the Statue of Liberty and wow. What an awesome place to check out. Be prepared for stairs if you're going to the top. I'm pretty fit and athletic but even me I was huffing and puffing my way up to the top but what a view that was. Definitely recommend people check this place out

Great trip! Being in the presence of this iconic monument was beyond my expectations. I highly recommend purchasing tickets ahead of time as the line is shorter. Security screening is similar to airlines. It's a chilly ferry ride and toy are allowed to walk the and observe Lady Liberty on your own taking the return ferry of your choice.

Surprisingly affordable ($20 ticket includes ferry ride) and a it's an NYC must see. If you missed out on a pedestal or crown ticket don't fear. It's still worth seeing. The museum is so cool and interactive for kids. Seeing lady liberty up close is so stunning and inspiring. The ferry ride is fun. The food at the cafe was pretty good although it was crowded since it was too cold to sit outside but overall it was affordable. Be careful in the gift shop... That's were they get you. Ha ha.

We climbed to the crown. I found a reason to enjoy it despite my fear of heights. I highly recommend going. If you are afraid of heights I would caution against going to the crown though and recommend you just go to the pedestal

Is it the most famous monument in the world? Or is it the Eiffel Tower? Both French and both designed by Eiffel! In any case this is a must see. It takes some time to reach it and it is quite crowded, both on the boat and on the Island. But it is worth it, to be able to see the Statue so closely from below (you can even climb the stairs inside). Really worth the visit, you can do a picnic there.
