The most famous and coolest monument in the United States!
The most famous and coolest monument in the United States!
Breathtaking. To think this was built in the late 18th Century is impressive. To go up to the pedestal or crown you have book well in advance especially the crown, but don't worry if you can't get these tickets as it still very impressive from the ground. The ferry over to the statue and then Ellis Island which included the immigration museum was good value. We left at 11am and came back at around 3ish, but rushed half of the museum. You could easily spend a full day here if you took everything in at the museum. The museum is very interesting. The view of Manhattan and the statue is amazing and a must do for first time visitors to New York.
Had the best time during spring break. NO crowds at all! No lines to buy tickets and hardly any people on the boat to get there. Food court is always good although I think they need a better indoor seating area if they are going to open when it's cold out. It was way to windy and cold that day to sit outdoors.
Nice place
Love to go and you like to visit.
One of best monuments to be seen before you die in USA. Best time to travel is on weekend from the New Jersey side. Try to book in advance for crown tickets (Best view from the top of statue )
Steps:
We went with a private tour group and we had a young man by the name of Remy/Remi that was the bust guide of any tour we have ever been on. GO EARLY to miss the traffic. We booked the 830 tour and as we were leaving the boats coming in were jammed with tourists coming to see the Statue of Liberty. They do have a cafe on the island with drinks and food so don t worry about starving. There are several security checkpoints that are very similar to what you would go through at an airport. Check the weather and bring a jacket just in case you need it.
No words are Enough to describe the elegance of this monument.
The Statue of Liberty is one of the oldest statues, its magnificent view and the nature of the material made of it.
I really enjoyed the view across the Atlantic to see this famous giant copper torch holder. Stay Lit America!
Pretty cool, boat ride is ridiculous. So many people crammed on.
Enjoyed the statue of NY is my birth place alavero was a very nice tour guide
Very special place.
Great museum and really worth getting tickets to climb up inside of statue if available. There is also a second museum about construction of statue inside statue which I thought was more informative than main museum on island.
Didn t go there but saw it from the ferry and it looks super nice and impressive, maybe next time I visit NYC if I have the time I ll visit there.. but obviously a must see if in New York
Liberty island is very good. Everyone should go once. You have to take ferry from newyork. Boat services are very good. You will find few restaurants also in that islands.
The history of the Statue is presented in an interesting and informative way. The old pictures are amazing. The park itself is beautiful. A must see!
We enjoyed our trip to see the Statue of Liberty, including the boat rides there and back.
I will say, the statue looks bigger in the movies and on television.
There are some great views from the statue...
A bit away from the city stands tall the Lady Liberty. Great place.
It's such a wonderful experience to see this monument in person. It's better to book your tickets online to save sometime for the ferry queue.
I love this place going back this summer, they have guides to help you that looks like a phone I recommend this place for singles or families
A wonderful monument and a must see if you visit New York. We were fortunate to make the journey on a very sunny day. The ferry ride was pretty short. It may be difficult to get a seat at times. But after a couple of minutes everyone is standing up and looking at the statue in awe. We did a slow loop around the island taking everything in. As you'd expect, to get a photo directly in front can be hard as its packed. But there are staff who were taking pics for people.
You never can truly grasp the magnitude of the Statue of Liberty, it is very surreal when you see it in person after all the books, movies and shows you see it appear in, it s almost like meeting a celebrity. It was an amazing experience but make sure to book your boat ride beforehand or be prepared to wait a long time, especially during the holidays.
It was majestic to see the statue so close. The problem was the hour plus long wait thru security and the additional 30 minute for the overcrowded ferry. Seems like they could add a few more security stations to streamline this national pilgrimage. The island itself was nice but it took us almost 4 hours from the time we left our hotel in Queens till we stepped foot on liberty island. I'd recommend go there as early as possible. Especially during summer months when school is out, leave early so you can beat the crowds!
You can see the NewYork city a good view from the water, there is a time where you can visit Statue of Liberty and one more island if you plan well ahead or else you would have to see only one place. Also have a shop where you can buy things for your memories like magnet, statues. Since its a tourist spot you will go through security check before having to board a boat.
Worth a trip out, didn't go inside liberty as apparently the temperature can be 20 degrees hotter than outside....can still get great photos anyway
Lovely. It is not only a place about the history of the United States and France but also a place to cross cultures
I have seen photos of it all my life and was delighted to finally visit this great symbol of liberty. I was able to obtain tickets with pedestal access the night before. Buy tickets direct from Statue Cruises because all other sites seem to charge as much as 30% more. You don't need to show up more than 15-30 minutes before your ferry's departure. Be prepared to go through a security checkpoint before boarding. If you have pedestal or crown access you will need to leave backpacks and drinks in a locker at the base of the statue. Take photos of the Statue as you are cruising to it and take photos of Manhattan as you return. There are so many great views. I took the stairs up tot he pedestal instead of the elevator. Even with my bad knees I was easily able to handle it. The pedestal balcony is very slim, so it can get crowded quickly. There is a nice museum to visit that discusses the history and construction of the statue.
The Statue of Liberty! What a great monument! Beautiful place to take pictures and enjoy the beautiful view of lower Manhattan. CROWN OF THE STATUE OF LIBERTY ? You need a ticket reservation and there is a fee of $3.00 per ticket for crown access. The climb to the crown is a strenuous journey in an enclosed area with high temperatures in the summer.
One of the most famous place un the world.
What could I say that was not said? Do it! You will never see a movie like before after that. This is what the friendship between all countries should look like! Greetings to our American friends from France!
Absolutely stunning and awe-inspiring. Nothing compares to seeing this in person!
The place to go in NY! When I got to see Miss Liberty, I didn t want to leave Liberty Island anymore, it s a great place to be. From the island there s a beautiful view over the skyline of Manhattan, which delivers great opportunities for taking breathtaking pictures of the city. Besides you are greeted by the world s most majestic statue, which will leave impressed, by it s sheer height. Love it there and can t wait to see Miss Liberty another time. Don t miss out!
Amazing place to visit even if it is just to say you have been. My wife and I really enjoyed our trip, the que for the ferry out was stupidly busy but we went at peak time so expected it.
Historic site. You should take the tour guide for kids that really makes a lot more fun. I like the view on Manhatten
Iconic statue, have to see it whilst in New York. Set aside a few hours though to queue for the tickets, ferry there, explore and climb statue, see the museum there and then queue again for ferries back (stops at another island on way back too) - takes longer than you might expect.
Such an iconic place, if you haven't seen it, you haven't really visited New York. In the museum you can get a better idea of the size with replaced parts and life sized models.
Very impressed. Beautiful sight such a maginficant piece of work.
Awesome.cold in winters but cool.will widen your eyes.
Was great to go and see the famous Statue of Liberty. And up to a point they cope with large amounts of people, but whilst we were someone was taken ill and this was not communicated well whilst stood at the end of a queue for 30 minutes plus.
It s a great place to stay and observe nature, skyline and part of NY. Crown is close but the lower level is open and can be reach. Entrances can be purchased online and on the statue. Security lines are pretty full and have option for some lockers if you pay. Overall nice experience.
This is a must do in New York! It is amazing and moving to learn about this beautiful structure that shows America and it's freedom and it's diversity. Lady Liberty stands monument liberty and Justice for all. A trip to NYC wouldn't be complete without gracing in all of her glory!
A definite must-see for any NY tourist! It's very picturesque and an Iconic landmark.Though I recommend booking a crown ticket at least 6 months in advance. We tried booking two months in advance but it was sold out for at least 6. Was only able to get in the pedestal.
It's an American icon and national treasure.. to think of all the people who saw this monument on their way into this great country is truly humbling. well worth the time to go see
Amazing and a must see. A world trademark. Special moment when you leave Battery park and you are getting closer to the statue. Lifetime experience. It is a special moment when you see her for the first time ! You think of the millions of people that saw. Strongly recommend to go there and enjoy this wonder.
An important and historic site for tourists in New York.
Ferry trip was wonderful from battery park to statue of liberty. Wonderful view.
Was a great sunny day to go. Didn't know you had to reserve time to be able to go to her crown and pedestal. It was a great experience all around.
The Statue of Liberty is 92 meters/305ft high and is made of a iron structure with copper skin.
Lady Liberty, as the statue often is referred to, was designed by Frederic Auguste Bartholdi and the massive iron skeleton of the lady was designed by Alexandre Gustave Eiffel who also designed the Eiffel Tower.
The statue was built and completed in France in 1884. The monument was then disassembled into 350 pieces and packed into 214 crates and shipped to New York. The Statue of Liberty was a gift of the people of France to the American people on the American Centennial in 1886. The torch s flame is covered with 24k gold and the crown has seven rays for the seven continents.
The monument stands on Liberty Island in the Hudson River facing New York City. You can climb up the 154 steps from the pedestal to the head of the statue where you can see the fantastic views over the Big Apple as New York is often lovingly called
A bit packed in security and the boat ride, but overall pleasant experience. SOL is well taken care of and truly a wonder you have to see up close and in person. I will never forget this monument!
Lovely historic place!! Ferry ride was awesome!! We went in early morning hours .... Ferry ride was very pleasant in the morning hours .....If you are planning to visit, plan early...... You can not roam during summer.....you may need sunscreen etc during day time.... There is big gift shop ,even in ferry..... Lovely snacks in furry...... Overall we enjoyed the trip.... Don't forget to collect audio guide!! It was crowd all the time!! Be ready to stand in queue for a minimum 30 minutes, while going to the island and while coming back .....
Breathtaking experience to see it up close for the first time. The boat ride over was nice. The audio tour is useful to get explanations and histories of the various things on the island and it s included in the price of the ticket.
Name itself is enough. Avoid weekend summer. Very busy.
Basically a must see for every New York visitor. If you book a ticket for a certain time the waiting time actually cuts in half or even more and the experience is one of the best cost/value ratio you'll get in new York city
very rainy on my trip but still worth it. audio guide was informative and easy to use and the monument itself is spectacular!
Beautiful well kept monuments. Don t go if you re in a hurry. Lines, security, and 1 hour round trip cruise
Statue of liberty well goes without saying a unique monument between the Heart of Manhattan...Hudson river.
One must visit at least once in life span...
Not to be missed at any cost.
Well maintained, good crowd control system and strict law and order makes it a safest place with kids and family.
It made me feel so humble to view such a great lady representing our nation, America. Long may she stand. One of the highlights of my 4 day whirlwind tour of New York City!
Brilliant the museum was a real surprise and the views are great
Buy on line to beat the crowds. Lots of security checks. Book early if you want to go up the statue. There are only so many each day. There are more pedestal tickets available.
Really pretty and outstanding place, I wasn't very keen to visit it, but really enjoyed it, amazing job and incredible vibe
20 dollars for the boat to liberty island and Ellis island. Well worth it.
Love the place. My family went there for few weeks to visit my sister. It's a obviously must visit in New York.
It was awesome!
A monument with a lot of history. Really loved the audio guided tour.
Something you shpuld never skip when you're in NYC! Got to see her at sunset this trip and it was beautiful!
Still as iconic as ever. However, I do have to say that the little museum they have inside is quite outdated. The newly opened museum on the island more than makes up what's run down inside the statue monument itself.
Not as iconic as people and the media make it out to be! The Thiruvalluvar statue in Kanyakumari (the tip of continental India) is a far better place and a lot less crowded!
Great except you have to book months in advance to get all they way up. Lesson learned.
Amazing views no matter where you are standing on the island. Easy on and off. Just check ferry times. If it's a hot day splurge for Bill's World Famous lemonade. Just ask for little or no sugar.
I always have such an amazing time here! I have already taken both of my toddlers here and it is definitely worth it!!
We had pedastool access and it was definitely worth it. The park seemed clean and the guides were nice. Also the gift shop had a good variety of things for sale
Our Lady of Liberty. Very nice. Staff was friendly and the ferry ride was nice.
A must visit! The iconic statue. We booked tickets 6 months in advance to go up into the Crown itself. I wasn't disappointed. Very steep stairs, only fairly fit people could climb. The views were fabulous. Information about the statue were answered by the guide at the top. Well worth the extra bit of time to book tickets.
The statue of liberty was smaller than I imagined. It its a great piece of design work. This is worth a day trip out to see.
I was so amazed while on the island. I haven't been here since I was kid. Now that I'm a parent whose sharing this experience with my daughter, I couldn't ask for a better place to expose her to that represents Freedom, unity, independence.
Great place to visit and reflect on how great it is to be in the land of the free.
First time there from Texas. It was awesome to see her.
Well worth a visit to the Crown. You need to book well in advance. I have a bad knee and back and just took it slowly - often creating a queue behind me, but everyone was so nice and told me not to worry and to do it at my own pace. There are several places on the way up, where you can step aside and let those faster than you pass. If you don't like steep stairs come down backwards - one of the staff told me he always does, and that made it much easier for me when I did it that way.
Really nice place. If you would like to go to the crown then you have to buy tickets in advance.
The Statue of Liberty is such a great attraction for everybody. I absolutley recommend it for everyone. If children are not interested in sightseeing, they can enjoy boat sailing. The Statue is a brilliant place to take beautiful photos that will become memories for your whole life.
For pedestal view of statue we had tickets. Before entering Locker room was big surprise to us nothing is allowed to take in. locker locks automatically by mistake while putting stuff in locker the door of the locker closed and it got locket automatically. We had remaining stuff to put in therefore when I unlocked the locker it was done. That means you can unlock only once. we had to ask for help and pay again and open another locker and lost 2 dollar and again paid the same. make sure while putting stuff you hold the door opened. Then we came to know we can't take baby backpack also. For that again, I took big locker there again he helped me and waived the fee for the locker. The lesson to learn here is I suggest there should be one person at the door and help everyone by checking there sturf and suggesting them which lovker is good for them. locker 2,3,4 are big and 1 is small. only water medicine and mobile allowed. inside statur fort , 5p is upto where we had our ticket there we took pictures then we went to 3p and then we tool stares to go ground level. for elevator line has waiting around 7 minutes only 8 people one time. If you can take stares then there are 195 steps only which can be done in 5 mins. if you have kids then prefer elevator. Then we sit under tree shade and had our lunch that we brought from home relaxed and took some rest. Then took pictures of Manhattan buildings and statue also. Gift pavilion has restroom right side to the entrance. while returning to ferry if u are from nj then go to queue early a long queue is waiting for you. Overall nice experience, enjoyed our trip had good time.
What a beautiful place to visit and do much history!
One of the most impressive statues and am extraordinary story behind the scenes. It totally worth it. Try to go there at the first hour, otherwise it will be very crowded. Take the audio guide with you and listen all the things at each checkpoint. It worth it to discover how the statue was built, which materials were used , some history and much more.
Fantastic trip out and went up to the pedestal. Stunning views of Manhattan from the boat as we went to the statue. The statue certainly is more impressive to look at close up, didn't wait long to get into the pedestal however be warned if you take the lift there's quite a queue, and not many in the lift at a time. The view from Lady Liberty herself was great as you walk around her. Definately put on your list to do if in NYC.
Very crowded with expensive food. Just as nice from a distance.
This is an Amazing experience . Don't forget have a tour with one of the park rangers .
Wonderful play. Luckily, I came at a time when there wasn't so many people so I didn't have to feel like I was in an area too crowded. The price is completely affordable, and it's just nice being able to see such a symbol.
If you want to go till crown of the statue, buy your tickets 6 months in advance. Also be physically fit to climb the narrow stairs. Otherwise, just buy tickets till pedestal. The statue is heavily guarded and patrolled now.you have to keep your belongings in locker and go they metal detector. There is a museum, but many artifacts were taken out and relocated to some other place for restoration and preservation, do not set your expectations on this museum.
A visit to the liberty Island for this magnificent piece of wonder is definitely worth it. Would recommend going in the summer and taking the ferry. DO NOT TAKE THE HELICOPTER RIDE, ITS SUPER EXPENSIVE AND NOT WORTH IT. While going there, pay a visit to the immigration mueseum.
The Statue of Liberty is a classic historical monument, and our experience went smoothly. Make sure not to fall prey to any scams or scalpers and only buy tickets from the government-affiliated vendor Statue Cruises which is the only ferry service allowed to take passengers to Liberty Island.
Wonderful monument to watch..nice cruise ride watching Manhattan buildings on oneside and statue of liberty on the other side..make sure you go in at proper time to take beautiful pictures
Awesome view it has when you travel towards it in water ...
Be prepared for A LOT of walking and take a small snack bag with plenty of water!! Today was EXCEPTIONAL God blessed us with an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT warm, sunny yet windy, beautiful clear blue sky Sunday in January 2020
Excellent!! Very Interesting & beaufiful!! So peacefull!! I will go back again!
