I was able to book my ferry ride to Ellis Island and Liberty Island on the day of without too much prep in advance. Caught a ferry from Liberty State Park and was able to hop off at Ellis Island where I spent some time looking around the museum. Took another ferry to Liberty Island for views of The Statue of Liberty up close. I'd suggest booking tickets online and picking them up at the will call booth. There's food and cafes at both islands but you could also carry a picnic basket and enjoy on the grass.

Well what can be said about the Symbol of USA, it's a life long wait for me as an international student to see this monument and oh my gosh this didn't disappoint me at all. Seeing this wonder with so many people as it's always busy and the ferry ride to get to the tiny island that's the statue is located, every tiny thing about this is exciting. Glad to see this and want to see many more times !

Put the self guided tour to use and walk around the statue. Its a good idea to make reservations ahead of time if you'd like to go into the statue. If you don't get the opportunity to, its okay. Walking around the statue is extremely neat. Allow enough time to stroll around her before you hop on to go to Ellis Island.

This is the one of many reason why I visited New York. I been to this pace place before. I went with my little brother but we couldn't get to the statue itself. There were no tickets available. I was told we needed to buy those tickets months in advance. Be sure to have those tickets other wise you will end up just walking around the little island.

Frenchman Edouard de Laboulaye first proposed the idea of a monument for the United States in 1865. Ten years later sculptor Frederic Auguste Bartholdi was commissioned to design a sculpture with 1876 in mind for completion, to commemorate the centennial of the American Declaration of Independence. The Statue was named Liberty Enlightening the World and was a joint effort between America and France.

It was agreed that the American people were to build the pedestal, and the French people were responsible for the Statue and its assembly here in the United States.

However, lack of funds was a problem on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean. In France, public fees, various forms of entertainment, and a lottery were among the methods used to raise funds. In the United States, benefit theatrical events, art exhibitions, auctions and prizefights assisted in providing needed funds. Poet Emma Lazarus wrote her famous sonnet The New Colossus in 1883 for the art and literary auction to raise funds

Visited New York over Christmas and obviously had to visit this great lady. It's a must do trip and so worthwhile. We even enjoyed the ferry trip across even though the weather was miserable.

What a great amazing landmark! I'm proud to be an American and Thank God for the amazing men that put there lives on the line everyday to keep us safe and free. I would reccomend visiting here if you are in New York.

She welcomed millions of people to the USA. It is the place to be to learn more of how most of us used to be immigrants coming here with hope and dreams for better lives. It s ironic how this concept has been lost for some people.

Things to do:
What can I say... if you are in NYC it would be THE PLACE to go. the Lady is the first stop when you come from Battery park. First, you have a very nice view of the NYC skyline. You can feel the excitement as the cruise approaching the Lady. The NYC boat moors at the right side of the dock. From there it is only a short walks to the statue. The Lady is very impressive and beautiful. There is also a museum on that is highly recommended.

How to get there;
You can get on the official Statue Cruise from the Battery Park at the southern tip of Manhattan. It costs around $18 per person. There are separate tickets for getting to the pedestal and another one to get to the crown. These last two tickets are usually sold out in advance.
The cruise has three segments. The first one is from Battery Park to the Lady Liberty. The second segment is from the lady liberty to the Ellis Island. The third segment is from the Ellis Island back to Battery Park. There is another cruise starting from New Jersey. If you board the wrong cruise you can end up at a wrong port and you will need to buy another ticket to get back.

Going here was soooo much fun, and everyone that works there was very helpful and kind. The ferry ride was sooooooo cool, when you are on the ferry there is a intercom that comes on that tells you all about Ellis island and the statue of liberty; it was very cool, and I learn a lot of new things just from that. Also on the ferry they had a little place where people could come and buy some food or a nice hot drink. Going to the statue of liberty is some thing that everyone should try to at least once in their life.

I absolutely recommend to visit the statue but be aware. You have to wait a long time until you actually see the statue. Lining up for 3 hours just to get on the ferry. But still absolutely amazing to see this part of American and European history in real life.

The Statue, a present from the French, given in pieces and then reassembled. Used to be a symbol of "Dreamland" for millions of immigrants seeking freedom and wealth, coming from many parts of the world as it welcomed them from the distance.

Enjoyed the ferry ride there and back. Paid extra to go to the crown and although it was very small and a lot of stairs to get there, it was really neat and worth it. Always wanted to see the statue up close and learn more about it. The displays were really good and informative too. If you are going to NY, this should be on your list of things to do.

This statue holds deep symbolic meaning for millions of people inside and outside of the country. If your going on the tour of the statue you should note that the elevator only goes to the base of the statue, to get to the crown you have to take the stairs. The torche isn't open to the public. Ferries heading to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island depart every 15-20 minutes. The first ferry departs at 8:30 am in peak season and 9:00 am in non peak season and the last ferry departs at 4:00 pm in peak season and 3:30 pm in the non peak season.

I absolutely loved my entire experience! First time going to New York so of course we had to visit lady Liberty! We were able to visit the pedestal but next time I m going to the crown! I loved how the had the convince of A mini locker to hold your thing. And it does it break your pockets.

Make sure you purchase your tickets from the National Park Service, that way you can pay a little bit extra for access to the pedestal and crown (you'll need to book at least 3 months in advance). Bring your bravery with you as you climb the inside of the crown.

Also, don't forget to pick up your free audio tour as you exit the ferry.

Always a spot crowded with lots of tourists so do expect to wait to get a good picture without being photo bomb. Do be aware that the area are usually off limits after 6 in the evening so do get there early to get ferry tickets cause the ticket booth closes around 4.45 pm. It's worth going though.

Awesome views. Not bad flow of people traffic. Be ready to do some long stairs. Long wait for the one elevator. The museum was good. She's a thing of beauty and should be on everyone's bucket list.

Still a beautiful landmark and monument to human invention.
Recommend getting ticket to visit pedastool, as can give great great view of the island and Manhattan.
Less recommended is doing the actual inside statue climb. Crazy amount of stairs and VERY little time to enjoy up top in the crown (as there are others right behind you moving nonstop). Also, once you start, cannot stop till you are on way down.
Musuem is interesting and shows how it was made.
Once in a lifetime trip have to do!

NYC most iconic symbol. Dress warm its freezing and book online if you want to go inside the statue. I recommend seeing the statue in the morning as sometimes the latest boat leaves @ 3pm and often the crowd is then denied access for the day.

One of the few places on the island with air conditioning. There is a small museum at the base of the statue where you read about the condition, building, assembly, reconstruction, etc of the statue. It was informative.

If you want to use the elevator for the top of the pedestal be prepared to wait if you go during a higher traffic time. The elevator is small and very slow. The alternative is to take a 195 step stairway which a worker there started was about 10 stories worth of steps.

Very beautiful landmark and a must see while in nyc. It will take a good couple of hours because there are always lines. There is a security line and the ride by boat ia short and nice with amaizing views of lower Manhattan. To go up to the crown is not worthy ar all, there are some small windows up and nothing spectacular. The go to the half way of statue is very nice because of the views of the city.

My second time to the Statue, I got the chance to climb the stairs to the crown. It was about 10 min to the top, and it was easy to take a break, if needed. The staff at the top were helpful. While the views are limited, I highly recommended the experience.

Very crowded place, therefore best to visit early in morning to take better photoshots.
Before visiting I haven`t imagined that this statue is so huge (French who manufactured this statue and gifted to USA have made amazing thing). Must visit this iconic statue
It is comfortable to see from sightseeing boat

Had a great experience.

Had a great experience.
Got tickets right at Battery Park for $20, waited in line and got in the ferry, the ferry is very good and there is even food for purchase. The ride is just about 10min long.
Then you get to the island and can see the statue up close. In the island there's restaurants and gift shops and a museum.

Finally made the trip out to Liberty Island and enjoyed the statue close up. I've been by the island several times on the free Staten Island ferry, but it was worth the fee to get up close and personal with Lady Liberty. Next time I hope to make the trip to the top of her torch.

We took the cruise that brings us around it and it was for 1 hour!
I Personally Loved it, the boat ride was super smooth and relaxing with soothing music.
The Statue of Liberty was beautiful it was my first time seeing it !!
I recommend everyone to try the ferry boat to see the Statue of Liberty. The pictures we took were remarkable make sure to not go on a cold or windy day.
The view of the skyscrapers was also breathtaking.
Its a must do while being in New York!

Beautiful new landscaping. The grounds were very ckean and well maintained.. Great museum. Park rangers and other staff incredibly helpful in regards to my disabled son. Plenty of places to get away from the albeit much smaller crowd and just relax and enjoy the views.

One of the icon of our great country. Give us your poor. But now you cant come because there is a wall. But you can get in lillegaly and not pay taxes. What happen to this country and its founding principles. Dont shame this Icon because of politics. We the people. Not Washington or Democrat or Republican. We the people can call for change. Stop electing money. Why not elect a full blooded Cherokee Indian as President of the United States and see what will happen. It's there county not ours.

It's always a pleasure to visit statue of liberty. I visited 2 times and everytime you get a different experience. Except waiting in the queues for ferrys, you won't find any other issue while visiting statue of liberty.

God Bless America! Be sure to get the crown pass but be prepared to climb some steps!!! Don t worry there are plenty of resting stops along the way if needed. Also might be rough if your claustrophobic as the stair well is small but once you re at the top it s all worth it!!

A truly breathtaking experience. Definitely a must see when you visit new York. Would have loved to go into the statues but that is no longer allowed. Best stop for photos is usually a bit crouded.

The statue is impressive. Really amazing!
The point of view from pedestal is simply amazing!
Worth a visit in New York!!!
Pity for cruise management...long queue under sun to take the ticket and to get in boat...
In add we bought the city pass some day before, but this it was not enough to save us the queue and the sun..unlucky we found one of the most sunny day of 2019 summer in NY...

Amazing. She is big and beautiful and seeing her up close should be a must. There is so much detail, the pictures and little statues do not do her justice.

We took the first ferry out from Battery Park. It was a nice ride, and was already crowded, but on the island the crowds were not too bad.

It would be nice if the security were more discrete. I appreciate the need for this, but it is sometimes difficult to get a picture (from some angles) without a security camera in it.

We decided a bit late to visit the Statue, and could not get tickets for the crown. We could have gotten tickets for the pedestal initially, but we decided not to so as to save time. I regret not doing so and when we visited it was already too late they were sold out

We enjoyed so much. The statue is beautiful. It was one of best places that we saw in NY. To get there you need to take a ship. Everything is so well organised. That was nice escape from a town. Totally recommendable.

Amazing feeling when you can be there and you realize you've seen this place hundred times in movies, documents, etc. My recommendation is to buy the ticket that allows you to get to the pedestal. That gives you a chance to see how Statue Of Liberty is built and gives you a chance find a better view on Manhattan then when you only walking around statue.

Impressive, so great to finally see it with my own eyes. There s also souvenir shops on the island. Bring your own water because it can get really hot during the summer time and you don t want to overpay

The Statue of Liberty was a joint effort between France and the United States, intended to commemorate the lasting friendship between the peoples of the two nations. The French sculptor Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi created the statue itself out of sheets of hammered copper, while Alexandre-Gustave Eiffel, the man behind the famed Eiffel Tower, designed the statue s steel framework. The Statue of Liberty was then given to the United States and erected atop an American-designed pedestal on a small island in Upper New York Bay, now known as Liberty Island, and dedicated by President Grover Cleveland in 1886. Over the years, the statue stood tall as millions of immigrants arrived in America via nearby Ellis Island; in 1986, it underwent an extensive renovation in honor of the centennial of its dedication. Today, the Statue of Liberty remains an enduring symbol of freedom and democracy, as well as one of the world s most recognizable landmarks.

Nice but was not impressed, they make it seem bigger than it actually is. And negative aspect is that in order to see the crown and up close you need to book at least one month in advance. It's not a part of the city pass tour.....
