Celebrated my 30th Birthday here. Absolutely fantastic, service brilliant, food outstanding. It s not cheap, but worth every cent!!
Celebrated my 30th Birthday here. Absolutely fantastic, service brilliant, food outstanding. It s not cheap, but worth every cent!!
The food is everything you'd expect, and they had some of the best desserts I've tasted in an Asian restaurant. The thing that blew my mind though was the service, probably the best I've ever had. I went to the rest room to wash my hands, and in the 2 minutes I'd gone, they had refolded my napkin and placed it on my chair for me. None of my table even noticed them do it.
I've been to places like the Waterside Inn by the roux brothers in Bray, UK. Their service was "excellent" but also very visible. In Buddakan our server was both invisible yet constantly working around us, never noticed unless she was there to crack a joke which genuinely added to our conversation. I cannot overstate how good she was.
tasty, delicious decadent... it was great! Felt so luxurious and elegant eating here with friends. It was a fun experience with great food.
always good food ! always happy when i go and sad when i finish
Very poor service... We had to wait more than half an hour before they even noticed that we were sitting at a table... no matter how long did it take to take our order... and I was so distracted by that, so I don't remember the taste and the quality of the food.... Shame!!!!!
Very popular trendy restaurant that lives up to the hype. The beginning experience is always a bit off putting when the host directs you to the crowded bar area to wait for your table. However, I ve discovered new rooms each time I ve been and had a great experience with the waiters. Food is great - General tso and foie gras dim sum both delicious. I d recommend staying away from the edamame dim sum even though they say it s one of the most popular dishes. Short rib was phenomenal, fell off the bone. Also had the Lo mein, lobster fried rice and the chicken which were all great. We finished up with 4 desserts (all the pictures I took) and I would highly recommend the mochi donuts. Never had anything like it!
The decor of the restaurant is definitely one of a kind. Chandeliers are custom dragon design, many species of rare birds can be found as decor, there is a room of Buddha statue faces. It s one of a kind restaurant. We will be back once everything is up and running and indoor dinning resumes. The food was good and I feel like once eating inside, it will be five stars.
Absolutely delicious food, never once had a bad experience here. Highly recommend all their dumplings, the rock shrimp, the eggplant and the spicy tofu. Their drinks are also very good. The only issue with this place is that they often double book so you end up waiting anywhere between 30-60 mins for a table, even if you made a reservation. Barring that, it s a great spot, delicious food and good service, so would highly recommend especially for group dinners!
Amazing atmosphere, service and the food was incredible! The black cod is top notch!
Really, really good food. Some of the best Asian food I've had. Interesting and unique layout.
Our visit was stellar. The space is a bit daunting, but the incredible cocktails and food settle you in nicely. The soft shell crab and the pork were my personal favorites, along with the "Solid" cocktail. Great dessert and after-dinner drink choices as well.
Came here after a recommendation & it was amazing!
Brilliant cool-relaxed vibe with great decor & layout!
The menu was very strong & unique, food was jaw-dropping good.
Ryan looked after us with brilliant service-thank you.
Very highly recommend!
gorgeous communal dining table! a great place to come to with friends.
Great black cod and chilled udon noodles, but more like a club than a restaurant, meant we didn't enjoy our meal as much as we could. Shame as this used to be my favourite restaurant in New York.
Great food, cool ambience, good price. It was a business dinner and all enjoyed it
Its rediclously dark in here, a bit too dark. So dark I cant see myself in the mirror of the bathroom. All the food was really good and it's a good place to eat with your adult family. Not a good place for children at all.
Food was good but pretty simple compared with my expectations. Service was excellent. Cocktails way too sweet, all of them. Very big restaurant, not intimate.
Delicious cocktails, lovely vibe - if a little "trying too hard". The food was amazing, especially the oxtail dumplings and the pork buns.
The chilled udon noodles were a bit weird.
Good food, cool atmosphere, fairly good service. Value for price can be a little difficult to justify for some of their items.
An amazing fine dining restaurant with good food and amazing service. The dimsums and lamb chops were delicious. The donuts and blueberry tart were good too.
I had a great time there. We sat outside even it was a little chilly. We got our private booth. The Edamame dumplings were exceptional! It was surprisingly good, smooth, and just a hint of truffle to lift it up. The other ox tail dumplings were good too. The main dishes were average, not better than the cheaper Chinese restaurants. Chowfan was too oily for me. And weird thing that rice does not come with the black pepper beef. Overall, my experience was good.
My favorite restaurant I'm NYC. Edamame dumplings are a must, but literally the entire menu is amazing. The staff is awesome too.
Food is good. Service is good. Definitely not a place for a quiet evening.
If it is not something that comes the technician has told me in others at 17 as the one that you are arriving at the 19 that the termite that we do not arrive at the hotel I kiss to the night of Sunday to Sunday of each and I take you the shipment of the 8 and the colaaaa and the bread with the end of month to the payment of the check the day of the colaaaa that is e
Love it, very warm place ;affordable...excellent atmosphere...
Food is over the top...great service..beautiful restaurant
Made reservation thru Open table 3 weeks in advanced of me and my partner s anniversary . Unfortunately, Buddakan said they DONT HAVE my booking in their system even I show them our comfirmation #!!!! So we were have to wait for the table as walk in! Second, I did request to sit at downstairs in the open table booking at the beginning and also mentioned to the hostess when we get there even as a walk in customer, thats mean we dont mind to be wait, yet, they are just ignored what you requested, we have to sit at the aisle, eveb though they have A LOT of other tables.
And so funny is! Open table sent me an email on next day regarding we never attended the reservation!!!!! Serisouly? You made a reservation doesn t mean you really have the reservation! I do not is the issues was caused by Open Table or Buddakan, but Buddakan never apologizes or willing to fulfill customer requests.
By the way, their BACKGROUND music was so LOUD!!! You cant even talk, unless we have to SCREAM , otherwise you could t hear anything beside the music, their waiter can t even hear what we what to order. Properly this is THEIR WAY to make customer eat fast and leave, wuick turning tables over. This is not worth $$$$ restaurant, food were ok, environment is nice unless you sit at downstair, otherwise there s no different that you dinning in TGI.
Sxcellent food!
Ambience ways too loud, ways to freezing, staff not really knowledgable in terms of service.
Modern cuisine - overpriced!
This is the Sex and the City geek in me, but who cares! I sat in the area where Miranda had her outburst before the wedding...and it was awesome!!
Great wine list, but even still I opted for the Longevity cocktail. I went with my daughter, and indulged in the Lobster fried rice. To die for!!! Thank you Buddakan, I was fully satiated in every way possible.
The food was amazing, its an experience!! You will take your palate on an adventure.
This is a great place to grab dinner or lunch, the portion sizes were great and I loved my meal.
Expensive and actually not much better than PF Chang's. Panda Express < PF Chang's < Buddakan
The evening at Buddakan was great. The service, the ambience and the food were excellent. The music was really cool. A hip restaurant in an exciting city.
Buddakan is excellent for groups and/or a place to go when you want to impress your dining companions. The standout items for me were the edamame dumplings and the broken chili chicken. Cocktails were yummy but not strong.
Great food and although you cannot dine inside yet, you can walk through and see if otw to the restroom.
This is an amazing Asian fusion restaurant in the meatpacking district. The interior of this space is amazing, and you will spend most of your time just staring with your mouth open. Then the food comes and its equally amazing. The food here isn't cheap but it certainly is worth it. This is a great place to entertain friends, and really experience fine NYC dining at its best.
Terrible vibe. Starr restaurants gets it wrong. Too loud and dodgy crowd. Slow service. Thought this sort place went out of fashion in the 00s. Shame.
The food here is divine- sophisticated in flavor, textures, and presentation. Professional staff who don't hover over you. For deserts, I recommend the bread pudding; not usually my first choice but this was amazing. It was served with whipped cream spiked with whisky, and caramelized bits of something (I can't recall what exactly, possibly pecans)... it all melted in my mouth!
Omg the food was phenomenal. Honestly I enjoyed every dish I tried that day. Particularly the lamb and lobster fried rice. Honestly a great location and ambience is lovely. Was a bit loud but its NYC so what to expect.
Great meal and friendly staff. Very cool space and booking is essential.
The edamame dish is a must, as is alot of the menu. Just go and know you will find something to enjoy.
The wine menu is also rather good.
Yellow fin, dumplings, shrimp: all good in an amazing ambiance.
Honestly I am so disappointed with my experience here. It was my first time here and me and my friend were so hyped to check it out and enjoy the food but my oh my the experience was TERRIBLE!! We waited over 30 mins when we had a reservation and then got seated and placed an order which was then put on hold, and the menu itself isn t clear and our waiter, Ryan was awful. He did not care to explain the menu nor give us different suggestions. A complete disaster. We were forgotten about multiple times and our waiter lied about the situation every time. Also, steer clear of the edamame dumplings... Save your money and go some place that actually values your business.
A good Asian fusion meal beautiful decor...if in a larger group definitely go with a tasting menu
I ve been here 4 times and every time I go here they never seem to disappoint me. The food is always good and the out door dining was very cute
trendy place. very dark. music too high ..
but the menu and the dishes are really excellent.
Great vibe, great food, great restaurant!!!! Black cod is definitely a must, and so is the steak. The service was excellent.
Expensive for what's it is. I ordered Jade shrimp dumplings (4 in a dim sum steamer), scallion pancakes, and Singaporean chili crab. All of them were good but nothing special. The shrimp dumplings ($16) were just a bit better than the ones you can get at a high end dim sum place for 1/3 the price. The scallion pancakes were not crispy but rather dense, the beef topping was good but again for $18 it was ridiculously priced. I did enjoy the crab ($39) but having had it in Singapore this is a bit of a pale imitation lacking the brightness and flavor balance of the original. Ignoring the price the service was good and the food probably a 7 on a 10 scale. Adding in the price though it was not worth it.
Excellent restaurant, highly recommended, the food is very tasty
Fun, trendy vibe good for groups but expect a wait even with a reservation. Get the edamame dumplings, Peking duck, and chow fun!
Not so sure what the hype is but if you want a nice place to go for dinner... this is one !
Reasonable number of vegan options. The vegan options were good but nothing was AMAZING for a restaurant of this caliber (and cost). A nice selection of mocktails for non-drinkers.
Unique and fun Asian fusion dishes. Great ambiance and atmosphere too!
Fantastic.....
Make sure you are seated downstairs in the centre of the main restaurant
Great food to celebrate with friends and family . NICE ENVIORMENT. GREAT SERVICE. PARTY HARDY
Delicious food, outstanding service with high dedication to detail. Awesome stay - 5 stars!
Nice environment and service. But food is just so so.
Great place for a date and delicious food. Highly recommended
Great food and atmosphere.
Always get the duck.
Great food..even better service. Main dining hall is fantastic ambience...
Amazing ambiance and beautiful decor inside. Great quality food and drinks.
My favorite restaurant ever! Their edamame dumplings and tuna tartare spring rolls are to die for! Also the atmosphere is very fun!
The atmosphere is amazing and luxurious. It is definitely an impressive place to bring a date to. The dim sun and other apps are pretty good, so as the desserts, but the mains are kind of a let down... Its more of a chinese inspired western cuisine. The Ma La chicken despite its name is neither numb nor spicy, but sweet and sour... The service is superb though.
Delicious food at seemingly pricey yet actually reasonable prices in hind sight. The food used quality ingredients and was cooked very well. The downsides are that it was about 45 mins AFTER our reservation time before we were able to get a seat but it was worth the wait because the placement was perfect for the Chinese New year lion dance performance. The table service was also poor in some ways like very infrequent visits from staff which made it hard to order and since we had a bottle of sake being chilled was also difficult to get continuous alcohol service. The decor is awesome and it felt a bit more like a club than a restaurant at times. Despite the issues giving it a 5 because everything else was pretty good and it might have been affected by overcrowding on this holiday.
One of the Best Restaurants HANDS DOWN!!
Not only is the decor & setting incredible, the food is delicious! So, if you want to impress out of town guests, have a memorable date night, or just see where Carrie & Big had their rehearsal dinner, this is it.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Did a tasting menu here. Everything was delicious. Our waiter was super helpful and accommodating for all the allergies and dietary preferences.
Great place to have dinner. The food was very good.
Well I must say , I have eaten at Buddakan several times in the last year , and I can honestly give this place a full 5 star rating ! The photo opportunities are endless , the decor is fabulous , the many Asian / fusion dishes delightful...Having a gluten free meal here is Amazing ...From the Corn starch crusted grilled shrimp , Fillet mignon and the absolutely delicious stir fried chicken and rice ....Not to forget to mention the attentive manager / Supervisor Leonard Charlton , who seems to be every where , insuring the food is hot , spot on delicious and that you are comfortable and enjoying your dining experience...Kudos to the well trained staff and the food is constantly consistent ...
