Very friendly staff. While entry into the science center is free the parking is $10! This is a little bit excessive considering if you go to the movie and you pay 10 or $12 to see the movie two sodas and a popcorn is $19! Make no mistake about it, this is a tourist attraction and unfortunately low prices to do 80% of the things in the science center are priced accordingly. That being said, it was still an okay experience

Didn't meet my ex poo expectations. I was a little disappointed. I've heard great things over the years. There were some neat things to see. Glad I got to see the guitar display they had.

This museum is one of the top notch museums I've been to. My grandchildren loved it. There are so many hands on activities and the staff was very attentive. The game room sporting life size Nintendo, tic, tac, toe and numerous other games was well thought out. The bridge with the see through traffic Windows on the floor was ingenious. We were there for 4 hours and can't wait to go back to explore the rest.

I really wanted to like this place but it was a pretty underwhelming experience for my son and me. There were so many of the activities and exhibits that had broken or missing pieces, were run down, or just dirty. The place needs a serious refresh. The Pompeii exhibit was just okay...not worth the price, though.

Excellent Science Centre and Planetarium! And it is free! You pay for rides but all exhibits are open to the public. They have a beautiful IMAX theatre running films for a small cost.

Once again they I'm changing the inside to make it new again. The center stage downstairs is gone it's in the process of being renovated. I don't know if they're returning it as it was or if they replace it with something new I'll update that when I find out.

The current exhibit they have there is on games of the digital age.
Part of the exhibit is an online survey you can answer & they then post your answer on the wall.

Always bringing in and rotating exhibits helps keep the place fresh. This way my boys are always excited & interested in going back there.

Always a great time if you're in the area. Exhibits change regularly. Admission is free with a few exhibit exceptions. Shows generally cost a few dollars too. Great educational experiences!

The hamster wheel let's kids help power up the giant ball machine, and lift some of the balls on a bucket elevator into a higher potential energy state, but it wasn't working when we were there. The balls weren't going back up. There's a food court (basic fast food stuff), free admission, freedom to roam, lots of hands on activities and experiments. You can pay extra for IMAX movies or special exhibits. Kids can see dinosaurs, learn about volcanoes, earthquakes, energy, and build things. Overall it was tons of fun, but some exhibits are showing their age badly and need just some light repairs or maintenance from staff.

The Saint Louis science center is one of the best free attractions in Saint Louis. What a marvelous place to take young children and/or Adults. If you have a free afternoon and would like to see things ranging from dinosaur bones all the way to Microscopic Images this is your spot. Don't forget about the flight simulators and dinosaur rides. All in all one of the best free attractions in STL.

Great spot for kids, with the added plus that general admission is free (though some exhibits are extra). Allot 3-4 hours to see most everything. For the older set, the exhibit on throwback arcade games is particularly fun. They also have board games that you can play in one of the exhibits.

One of our stops before we head back east, the Saint Louis science center is just a wonderful place to be. When we were there they had a video game exhibit and a Maker exhibit that had the whole family into something. The kids love the food court with the giant hamster wheel for kids of all ages to burn that extra energy. There is so much visual things to engage with and learn. Major plus besides all the interactive exhibits is the live science experiment show and dinosaur experience the kids will love. They also added a new outdoor conservation experience too. I recommend finding parking on the park side and walking across the indoor bridge so you can experience the space exhibit which I should have led with. All in all, you cannot visit St. Louis without stopping by this wonderful center!

Lots of cool things. Place is free with parking. If I could rate it more than 5 stars I would. The game room was our favorite. The kids have been there hours. Kids and adult approved. Place is a blast and a must go for St Louis,MO.

Nice science museum. Geared towards the kiddos, but that is ok viva STEM, right? Went for the Pompeii exhibit and it did not disappoint. In fact it was sublime. Go see it! But please, dont talk on your cell phone while viewing it. If you do, you are a douche.

We decided to stop here on our last day in town. Our kids are a little older (16, 12 and 8) but based on other reviews, we thought they would still find some interesting things. We were wrong. The place was very crowded, which I expected on a summer day. The biggest issue was it seemed like every day camp in the city was there - which would have been fine, except that NONE of the chaperones were actually paying any attention to the kids. Not a single employee of the center seemed to be paying any attention either. I saw ONE intern at one exhibit and another employee straightening one of the activity stations. I have never seen more out of control, rude children in one place in my life. Even kids there with their parents were pushing and shoving other people out of the way.
Yes, the main museum is free - and you get what you pay for. Parking is $12.
I would not recommend, even for those with younger children.

We love the Science Center! It's free except special exhibits. Tons for kids to see and play with. The dinos used to be better when they were louder though. My only real complaint is the free exhibits are slowly being replaced by pay sections, and the best feature- the playground near the planetarium was taken down. This should be replaced asap with color maze.

Love the Saint Louis Science Center. If you have never been to Saint Louis we have a ton of Free attractions. The Science center is no different. There is an Omnimax where you can purchase tickets to whatever films or documentaries are showing. There are extra VR that has a cost. Right now a majority of them are on the experience of space.

For those of you who have children, this is a great place to have your kids and enjoy discovery. There is an entire game room right now where tons of children play. Board games, video games, card games Giant wall Chess, just to name a few, they also have game demos and when we went there was a great guy demonstrating new games.

Children need exploration like this and the fact that is free is awesome for any person.

Pro tip: Park at the Planetarium on the other side of the highway, and then go through the exploration over the highway and skip paying any parking fees. It is a full enclosed walkway so the elements do not affect you at all and the kids can check the speeds of cars and view the highway below.

Those of you who like Pokemon Go and the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite will love it here, but it is super hard to hold the Gym in Pokemon.

I've loved the Saint Louis Science Center since I was very young and that hasn't changed a bit. If it has been a while since you've visited or your new to the Science Center there are several must see areas to stop and appreciate during your visit. The Grow exhibit is mostly outdoors, so if weather permits don't miss it and try to catch a talk about the chickens and their coop if possible. The Maker Space is absolutely amazing and will delight any creative sparks you may have inside of you. If you're bringing the kids, the Discovery Room is totally worth the price of admission, whether you stand back and watch your kids play or you jump right in with them, you'll enjoy it. Finally, check to see what the travelling exhibit is. I went the the Tut exhibit and the Guitar exhibit and they were both great.

Most things were broken & what wasn't broken was under construction. Needs a full revamp soon. The grow exhibit was beautiful. Things are going to be much better soon! I'm sure it will be awesome again in the near future!

I've been at this location over 20 times in my life. It's very interesting and educational especially for children. I took my Son when he was 5 years old and since then I've taken him many more times and he loves it and I as well. I collect antiques, collectibles, old metal toys, glass ware from the 1700's to 1910 and anything of value. At this location - St. Louis Science Center they have old metal toys in glass display cases ( NOT FOR SALE. ) and There's some beautiful pieces. They have old metal spaceships, rocket ships, lunch boxes like I use to take to grade school. Top Shelf place for the family to visit. Here's a few pictures of a small portion of the beautiful vintage collectible toys they have.

The Science Center is just as wonderful and I remember it from years ago. My 2 & 3 year-olds enjoyed the large dinosaurs and absolutely loved the Discovery Room. My only complaint would be that it cost $5/person (which is fine), but the Discovery Room sessions only last 45 min. Wish it were a bit longer. My kids really enjoyed a movie about elephants they saw last year with their grandparents. Can't wait to see a movie at the Omnimax soon. I would suggest parking on the street or at the Planetarium to avoid parking fees.

I love going to the science center. However, they work hard to give us new things, but tend to neglect to keep their long term items working properly. For instance, the whisper thing outside is broken. The roller coaster thing in the energy thing does not work properly. Also, the earthquake feeling thing has not worked for a long time.

It is great especially when fewer people are there. Tons of activities for kids and my personal favorite is the simulators which you can get strapped into and it will rotate around as you move the controls flying aircraft inside with a co pilot if you would like or solo.

Lots to do and see here. Here's why it didn't get a 5 star:
Many of the exhibits were not working.

I was uber excited to see the Pompeii exhibit. I never thought I'd see the castings on real life. That was incredible. I was disappointed that so much of the story was left out.

We took our HeadStart class to the Science Center and fir some, it was a first time experience. They loved all the exhibits, displays, and we watched a movie. What a wonderful place for children to be able to experience the 'WORLD".

Nice free museum with a lot to do. Nicer than Boston but not as nice as Columbus. It was raining when we arrived and the walk from the parking lot to the entrance was long. Parking cost $10, which took away from the free admission some.

For young kids the Science Center never gets old! They've always got something fun for the kids to find to do or explore.

I have also went during social distancing and mask mandates have been in effect and staff are always cleaning and santizing.

The Absolute best place in St. Louis to take science oriented kids / students/ teens / even adults. We had a blast checking out the dinosaur exhibit, the interactive forensics labs, genetics labs, and chemistry labs. There s also this game called the mind game which uses players brainwaves to move a ball and it s the coolest thing. Earthquake exhibit was cool too. They also do live chemistry experiments constantly, so as a chemist myself I think that s so awesome. We watched the PANDA IMAX presentation and It was nothing short of incredibly beautiful. I attempted to hide my tears, no lie. Even Thugs gotta cry too sometimes. But there s So much great information relevant towards both children and adults. And the whole science center is so interactive, everything is hands on, so the kids are able to just go wild, plus they re simultaneously raising their intelligence and discovering an infinite array of concepts which in turn helps them grow into conscious human beings.

My 13- and 10-year-old kids really enjoyed themselves here, though my teen is probably pretty close to being to old to find it very interesting. There were fun activities for younger kids as well. I don't know how they can have free entry (you pay for Omnimax and planetarium if you do those, and $12 for parking) but they do. It's a fantastic bargain if you have a few children along.

*MUST KEEP EYES ON YOUR LITTLES AT ALL TIMES*
Every time I come I have so much fun. I took my 4yr old this time. We saw King Tut exhibit (paid fee) Makers lab is always fun too. They've to lots of little random things to get into, its visually intense. The kids are all the same height and blend in with one another. Lol I helped another mother look for her child today. We found her but in another room around the corner.
They've got elevators for every floor. Also a VERY IMPORTANT - free parking is gonna be on the NORTH SIDE of 40 at the original Science Center. (Big white thing) Entrance is thru Forest Parkway via Kingshighway or Hampton. You'll see signs. All the cool updated hands on stuff is in the newer glass structure on the SOUTH side of 40.
But tell me why this wheelchair roller derby plaque had me DYING! This is just at the base of the bridge on the NORTH side is the campus.

Our second visit and I still haven't made it through half of what is on display. (Mostly because of only having a couple of hours available each visit). Some day I'm going to have to dedicate a whole day to enjoy the place. Great family entertainment.

Great museum. Not ideal for our 18 month old, but that's on us. Parking is good, and I'm happy to pay $10 for my car when the museum is free. I'd say this is probably best for 3 years old and up, but we'll definitely be back soon.

So many things to see, hear, touch, and read. There are things for visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning. The staff us very kind and you can tell they enjoy helping. Theres a coloring station or even a movie theater for the one that aren't as entertained by all the experience and experiments. Thank you STL science center for keeping it free of charge for the community and a good family environment

Lots of things for the whole family to see and do. The new gaming exhibit has many fun games for everyone to play. I loved the Pompeii exhibit, it was very moving and even sometimes intense. Parking is expensive on the lot, but you can park in the Planetarium lot for free and walk across to the science center.

Tons of fun experiences for children of all ages here. We loved the variety of exhibits and admission was free. Our children are young but enjoyed their time here, interacting with biology, geology, and physics exhibits hands on. I liked how spread out the exhibits were because it meant little to no wait time. Some schools were here and even then we took the kids to a neighboring exhibit and by the time we came back a classroom sized line had dwindled down to just a few people.

AMAZING place I live in st.louis and I love going there! It never gets old! They just keep on adding stuff, and the good thing about the science center is that you can learn and have fun, also it s a super fun day for free! Would DEFINITELY recommend going there.

It's two science museums in one. The old museum and planetarium connects to the new facility by a bridge over the highway. They have great, well-maintained, interactive exhibits from dinosaurs to energy use and conservation, to space travel and rovers. The Discovery Room costs a bit extra for similar interactive exhibits for younger children, but the smaller crowd leads to less competition for access.

Great experience, some of our favs were constellation show ($), Pompeii exhibit ($) and the oldie video games! Great place to spend the day. We HIGHLY recommend a snack in the beautiful outdoor GROW area!!

The science center is a perfect blend of education and fun. From towering dinosaurs to hands-on science experiments, this has been one of the must-sees every time I visit St Louis. The free entry alone should be enough to prove that the people who built and run this amazing place simply want to spread the educational entertainment that everyone can enjoy.

Always incredible! Went for the Mission to Mars exhibit on Tuesday. Luckily, that was the Free admission day. The Science Center, as with all St Louis attractions, is always free. You do have to pay for special exhibits though.

Had a amazing time. We took my son here for his birthday and he rode the aviation ride that turns upside down and all around. He told me this was the best birthday he has ever had at 16 years old.

The St. Louis Science Center was a great place to go. We went for the Pompeii exhibit and loved it. They did such a great job of telling the story of Pompeii from culture, daily life and history. The visuals and artifacts were all amazing. Well worth the fee to enter the exhibit as artifacts are on loan from Naples, Italy. We did see some other parts of the building that were geared more for kids. Its right off the freeway and parking was easy to get in and out. Fun place to bring your kids As they did have activities for all ages. You can spend at least half a day going through the other things on display.

My youngest wasn't too thrilled to go to "another museum" but by the time they were closing he wanted to come back the next day. So many fun things to explore, do, ride and have fun! If I lived here I'd totally do a season pass and bring the kids often.. Especially during the hot and humid summer months!
