We decided to stop here on our last day in town. Our kids are a little older (16, 12 and 8) but based on other reviews, we thought they would still find some interesting things. We were wrong. The place was very crowded, which I expected on a summer day. The biggest issue was it seemed like every day camp in the city was there - which would have been fine, except that NONE of the chaperones were actually paying any attention to the kids. Not a single employee of the center seemed to be paying any attention either. I saw ONE intern at one exhibit and another employee straightening one of the activity stations. I have never seen more out of control, rude children in one place in my life. Even kids there with their parents were pushing and shoving other people out of the way.
Yes, the main museum is free - and you get what you pay for. Parking is $12.
I would not recommend, even for those with younger children.
