Came here to get an appraisal and ultimately sell some sterling silver. Appraiser and other staff were so kind, thorough, and fair. Would definitely take other heirlooms here.

They also have a super interesting display of items from the Civil War, when the Cowardin home was used as a hospital for both sides.

I had a garnet ring repaired. I had loss a stone and it was replaced and the ring looked like new.

Great customer service! Reasonable prices and they made a few minor repairs without charging me (while other jewelers had given me quotes for the repair). I bought a free form ring with some stones that they set in place for me. I highly recommend Cowardins and will be back in the future!

Pros: The store has a great selection of jewelry with birthstone options as well. The employees are also friendly and they're taking Covid-19 seriously.
Cons: I went for a diamond resetting and asked for a size 5 solitaire band... They told me it would take a week. 2.5 weeks later when it was ready, I went in to pick it up and it was a size 6. I know I wouldn't have said size 6 for the particular finger I want the ring for. Now after 2.5 weeks, I have to wait again while they resize the ring. Which is not ideal because they have to cut down my ring instead of having the right size to begin with.

This is an heirloom diamond and is very special to my family... I originally went to Cowardin's because of their great reviews... now I wish I had looked into other places to get my diamond reset.

I have had several items of jewelry repaired at the store and they have done an outstanding job. They are extremely friendly and highly professional. I worked in the jewelry industry for several years so my standards for professionalism from a jewelry store are very high, and this store exceeds my expectations.

I recently purchased a Rolex from Cowardin's. Dan sold the watch to me. He explained all the features of the watch. I took it back for something very minor and he assisted me with the minor problem. He was not high pressure and treated me like I was his only customer. I highly recommend this store to anyone .

I went in to Cowardin s to look at one thing and bought something totally different thanks to Dan.... he was very welcoming and knowledgeable. Dan saw me looking at curtain items and kindly made suggestions which ended up being a sell for him. I took my 21 year old engagement ring and wedding band to Cowardins to be sized down due to recent significant weight loss. Jeweler advised me that sizing down too many sizes could affect the integrity of the setting so we agreed on what size would work for me and for the design integrity. Am thrilled with result. Rings fit great again, are comfortable and secure, and restored to their original beauty. Price was also very reasonable. Have always been happy with service and repairs at Cowardins which is why i have been a customer for 40+ years. Thank you Cowardins for taking care of my jewelry needs all these years. Am a customer for life!

Cowardin's is the only jewelry store I would trust without doing any research.

Although the staff is cordial and supportive, they are very expensive. 3500.00 dollars for 6 ten point diamonds adding up to 1/2 carat and an 18k gold ring with no center stone is a bit too pricey for us. Can you imagine what this ring would have cost if it had a center stone? We recommend you shop somewhere else if you want to pay a normal price for jewelry.

I love their estate jewelry. They have an excellent selection of everything and they are the best at repairs. They can fix or adjust anything and the turnaround time is amazing. The customer service is fantastic. I also love that they are a local and family owned business.

I purchased a beautiful watch from Cowardin's. I'm out of state and the transaction was smooth. Very professional, excellent customer service I received from Dan. The watch I purchased was in excellent condition, and as the appraiser stated in mint condition, even though it's a used piece. Had my wedding band resized. They did a great job and got it to me much quicker than they originally estimated. The ring fits perfectly and I see no evidence of it being resized. Would highly recommend.

I would not recommend this place if you're trying to sell loose gem stones. They only take "certain ones" and the person I spoke to with didn't even bother opening the other little bags I had showed him.

In recent years, I have used them to fix my Tag watch, repair chains and bracelets as well as customize a chain for a charm bracelet necklace. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. I highly recommend Cowardin s for good quality and a fair price.

I had a broken necklace. They were very helpful and polite. I thought the price to fix it was very reasonable. It was a quick turn around if a week. I have been to other jewelers in Richmond that appeared snooty and as I wasn t of their demographic. I did not feel that way at all at Cowardins. I don t buy much jewelry but I will definitely be back.
