Great service, amazing food! The selection of food was extensive, something for everyone! The seafood was delicious.

A small restaurant with a pleasant view of the water, generous bar, live music on weekends, and always fantastic food. My parents are addicted to this place; whenever they fly down to visit me they eat at least one meal a day here. Apparently they've never had better pork chops anywhere in the States! Personally, I can never go wrong ordering any of the seafood on the menu. The blackened mahi and tuna steak are both completely fantastic.
As an aside, there's a cute ginger tabby who lives outside the restaurant named Shrimpy and my husband adores seeing the little guy playing in the grass while we eat. I usually overhear older ladies cooing over Shrimpy as well. He's a priceless part of the experience.
If you are looking for some amazing seafood and a great atmosphere, come here! Our server Cyndi was awesome and Craig was lovely and welcoming! This is the place to come if you are looking for a great night out!
We were seated right away . ordered drinks and dinner. Drinks came in a reasonable time. Over 1 hr, wait staff said our order slips not up yet.
I your looking to eat in a reasonable time this is not the place to be.
Not recommended.
Inside and outside seating with a nice view of the St. John's River. Decent menu selections but both times we visited (lunch and then dinner), bar orders were extremely slow so order your second drink when you order your first.
Food was good but 2nd time here and both times server was not friendly at all til we received our bill at end of meal. So it affected their tip.
Amazing food. Decent prices. And our waitress was great.
Good food and service, but be careful while it's raining, because there's swarms of mosquitoes outside after the rain.
Arrived for dinner with 12 in my party. Live music playing which I now learn is usually outside but tonight the musician is inside. The problem with that is he's unaware of how loud his music actually is. The music was disruptive and impaired the ability to hear the conversation and even the person directly next to us. I politely asked if the he he could turn the decible level down on his speaker. There was no feedback from the staff and the problem was not solved.
Great atmosphere but the food was terrible. Way overpriced for what you get.
Great food! Great atmosphere! Great service! Highly recommend! And if you get there at the right time spectacular sunsets!! Cheers!
This dinner was a gift of love from a friend, and i do declare, the veggies lacked the panache namesake, but the was. delicious. Plump, tender, and juicy, with just the right amount of black pepper.
Love the ambiance, had the gumbo and it was great! Husbund had fish and fries and that was good too.
Pretty Tasty , Could use more vegetarian/ Vegan options though. Not bad considering it IS in Sanford
Cause there great food there and good place to eat at love that place
I've eaten here a couple times. The food, service and atmosphere was very nice. However, I was with a group of three and we split the check, and the waitress charged my card twice. This was quite annoying. I had to call a few times in order to get the problem resolved, but a little persistence paid off. The owner was actually quite nice and he took care of the problem.
Food was terrible, undercooked, got very I'll. Service was just as bad. Awful place bugs everywhere. Not recommended. Stay away.
We have been looking everywhere for a dinner on the river not too far from us. When we Google searched this restaurant didn't even pop up, but we were in the area and decided to see what they had. The view if beautiful and I suggest outside seating. The food was delicious. We had the jerk chicken dinner which my husband found a little flavorless but I had shrimp tacos and they were the bomb. Drinks are made well and staff is friendly.
The Mahi tacos were amazing. The view from the porch is so good and the music was nice and not to loud. I would recommend it.
Food was good, not great. Service was the worst I have ever experienced! No utensils, no offer of water refills, took nearly 30 minutes to get a mixed drink, had to ask for side items to be delivered when not brought out with the entrees. Most likely will not return anytime soon.
LOVED this place!!!! The food was great and the view is absolutely amazing!! My boyfriend and I want to go back very soon. I had the soft shell crabs and they were amazing!! We sat out on there patio, closest to the water. We could hear the water splashing against the edge of the wall, it was very relaxing!
Excellent food and service! Martha was the best and took great care of us!
Glad to see this place. Reservations recommend for Friday and Saturday nights. Food was good and service was great.
This place has Great Food & the Views .....Are just Beautiful sitting at the bar...I Love It & Will be back.
Not good for large groups...by the time my husband and I got our dinner, all 15 were all done eating...good was fabulous, just not well organized
Gorgeous view of Lake Monroe. First time here for Thanksgiving lunch. Perfect. Service excellent, wonderful staff. My favorite place in Sanford now.
Excellent food. Great service. Tiffany is a great waitress.
Excellent service . Great menu items. On a great day ask for seating outside
Great service great food on the river waterfront dining great experience
The food and location is amazing. Cajun style inspired menu casual dining definitely one of the finer restaurants in Sanford.
Always unbelievable meal at St. Johns River Steak & Seafood.
You really have to get to this little Gem in Sanford, FL. Busy night and great service. Expected wait for food and not bad even while very busy here.
Big Easy Jambalaya Pasta is unreal (spicy) and fantastic!
Wonderful and lovely environment, food was breathtaking.
Big thanks to Anna the hostess for accommodating us with a great seat looking out at Lake Monroe. I think this place has potential of being the best seafood restaurant in a 50 mile radius. Here's my suggestions; 1) The Conch Fritters were mostly breading, need more meat. 2) Have an option to pan seer the Soft Shell Crab. 3) Lightly dust the Calamari. 4) The Gumbo needs more seafood and the broth should be a bit thicker.
The grilled combo was good, specifically the Haddock and Scallops, nice flavor.
I love the atmosphere and service, thank you Kimmie. I will return for a 2nd chance and hopefully if you make those 4 changes, I will give this place 5 stars!
The food tasted good. I was very disappointed with the small amount of scallops I received at a $21 price. 3 medium sized scallops and 2 extremely small ones. I pointed this out to the waiter. He was surprised as well. He spoke to the manager about it. Apparently the manager didn t find an issue with the amount. Unfortunately we won t be returning.
Wow what a gold mine! We came in here for the first time tonight and we will be back. The atmosphere is delightful and the live music was top notch. The people who work here are very friendly and quick to serve you. But, our compliments to Chef K. The food was amazing. I highly recommend the tuna. It was prepared to perfection. The seasonings are unique and bring out the flavor of the food. It has a Louisiana flair that pleases the palate. I cannot rave enough about how great this place is. I am happy we found this place. We will be back!
Great place to hang out and have dinner. GREAT food and views of lake Monroe. Friendly staff catering to all our needs.
Great dinner. We had the Grilled Seafood Combo with brocalli and the Shrimp dinner with a twice baked potato. Patio dinning with the sun setting over the lake. A great experience. We will definitely be back.
I wanted a soft shell crab sandwich and I got an experiment in culinary delight instead!!
The Shrimp & Grits were amazing! Glad Hubby & I finally got to go!
My fiance and I went today to check the place for our wedding dinner. Wanted to make dinner reservations since we liked the location and the menu. A waitress named Cristina took our initial order. 1 cabernet and 2 glasses of water. We sat there for more than 20 minutes and nothing. When we stood up to leave because of the horrible service, i explained to the hostess about the situation and the waitress was in front of us with an attitude of i don't care. She even looked at me and gave the attitude of whatever. So sad. We were going to book the place for 20 people. Well never going back. Thank you so much Cristina. It shows your service.
This afternoon was my first time at St Johns and our server Erica is by far the worst server I have ever had. Food was great but she had a bad attitude and was very nasty to my family and I and it ruined our experience. How do you keep someone working for you like that? Highly recommend a different server for a better experience than mine. Won t be coming back because of it.
Food was Fantastic, but my favorite thing was our server she was the highlight of our experience. We will be back.
Nice atmosphere. Great view. Excellent staff! Wish the "French bread" had been like real p.o. boy bread but seafood was fresh and tasty. Gator bites were excellent and flavorful. Tuna looked good and my guest was pleased. Salad was average. Overall I will say a good experience and I will be back.
Awesome place. Food is delicious, beautiful lake view and friendly stuff. I was here with my wife and we both were impressed.
Most of us ordered the Fish and Chips special, but I asked for the mahi tacos. Everyone raved about their meal. Simply prepared with care and expertise so it was delicious and beautiful to see. The server was fast, friendly and attentive and the view from the deck was great. There wasn't one complaint from our entire group!
Delicious food, generous portions, and nice atmosphere. Regee was very professional and made us feel welcomed. I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because I really wanted the grilled seafood combo but I don't like grilled fish and the kitchen wouldn't fry the fish.
Love the atmosphere of sitting by the water. The fried oysters were AWESOME!
Horrible restaurant, food is disgisting, the soft shell crab was complete mush and the grouper sandwich was really tilapia. Prices are over rated for quality, we got 2 appetizers and 2 mixed drinks and burger which looked old and our bill still was $80. Never going back
From the very first call to paying the bill our experience at St Johns Seafood was excellent. The manager Kaitlin handled my inquiry to having my sons wedding rehearsal dinner at their restaurant. She was very kind ,supportive, and had some great ideas. She helped me with the exact date and time we needed, to accommodate us to a private area overlooking the beautiful lake. She stayed in touch with me right to the few moments before we left the venue to head to the restaurant were when we arrived she had waters on the table and appetizers rolling out for our guest which she picked. They were delicious, nice variety and she even had a few for the kids too.
Our servers Caitlin (dif girl) and Sebastian treated us with great care, enthusiasm and cheerfulness! Drinks were constantly filled, plates cleaned off, and getting everyone s orders on the money. Timing of food delivered to our tables was spot on, and every meal was correct, good portions, and tasted great! They treated bride and groom with some free deserts too! When it was time to pay the bill, they had everything charged correctly, not one mistake, and she
gave me the option on deciding the gratuity instead of just adding 18%. I was more than happy to give 35% for a job well done!
I am very grateful to mgr Kaitlin, and her staff for making our special family event so wonderful.
I def recommend St. John s Seafood for your group dining event and advise you to ask for Kaitlin, you will be glad you did!
Unfortunately, not good day outside so we were forced to take a seat inside. The inside seating area isn't bad but a day outside definitely beats a day inside, anytime. I went to St Johns for drinks and a light snacks with some friends. Service was quick and professional. We ordered a round of drinks, typical stuff - nothing fancy. Later we ordered some onion rings and some fish tacos. Everything was good but I think the onion rings stole the show. They were perfectly cooked and tasted really good.
I was torn between several things on the menu to try but having eaten a large lunch only hours before our dinner I couldn't fit much more. I will be back and hopefully it'll be nice outside and I can enjoy the waterfront seating.
Great location, attentive wait staff, interesting menu. Average food.
Went there for the first time after picking up the wife from the airport for some lunch before driving home, asked the server what she recommended and the shrimp lunch was outstanding will come back next time in town.
First time trying the place. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.
Appetizer of gator was very good! My ceasar side salad was delicious. We ordered the shrimp dinner and blackened haddock. The haddock was a nice portion and tasted good. The shrimp were salad sized shrimp. Very disappointing. Caitlyn, our server, immediately acknowledged the shrimp sized shrimp and saved the day!
Staff is friendly and fast! The view on the lake is amazing! The food is delicious! The clam chowder is the best I've had!
We showed up on Fathers Day with a group of 20 and did not make a reservation. They had just opened and were busy but the manager Reggie said he would accommodate us. Marie was also helping him. He put some tables together so we could all sit together. Because they were busy he took our orders and served us. Marie and Reggie were both super friendly and did great taking our orders and serving us. We usually don t see a manager doing everything but for our group he did. Thanks Reggie and Marie for the great attitude and service. We had never been there before but we will be back!!
Good seafood moderately priced. Situated on lake Monroe.
Food not good. Chicken on sandwich was so tough I couldn't eat it. Service was poor. Overall gross. Only good thing was the view.
Outstanding view of St John River, all 4 meals that our party was very good. Service could have been better in the beginning of the meal, but improved.
The seafood is excellent. My personal favorite is the poor boy sandwich. Great prices for the value.
and don't forget for a dessert that delicious chocolate cake.
Great view. Food was a little greasy, but we will probably be back!
My wife and I ordered appetizers, Blue Fin Tuna and Clam Strips. Food was really good. Service could use some work. I can't imagine how long we would have waited to place orders or get drink refills if it was busy in here.
We went for Father's day. Had a very nice time. Went to take my son for his birthday last night. We had probably about an hour or so wait. Finally got seated. Finally got our drink order. Everyone wasn't ready to order when we ordered our drinks. We waited 15-20 minutes before our waitress got there. It might have been a little longer. At that point was told they couldn't take any more orders. The kitchen was slammed I was very disappointed. Not sure why this happened. We paid for our drinks and left. Hopefully if we go again, it will be different. It was disappointing for us all. Susan
Friendly staff. Good food and even better views of Lake Monroe.
While traveling for business I stopped for quick lunch. Ordered fish and chips at the bar. When the food arrived I took a bite, and there was no fish. Very thick batter. I took another bite and noticed very tiny piece of fish, cover by massive amount of soggy butter. I went through all three pieces and was able to select few pieces of cod belly. I let the bar lady know, and she sent Manager. They offer to make another fry but I was running late for meeting. I m giving two stars only because the service was really friendly. The food zero stars the service 4 stars.
Travelled an hour from Orlando and it was worth it as it was our first time at this restaurant with my family and we loved all of our food! It tasted delicious and the seafood was seasoned very well. Tiffany was our waitress and she was very friendly and refilled our drinks in a timely manner. She even gave us 2 servings of hush puppies complimentary since it was our first time visiting. The view was beautiful overlooking the St. Johns River. They also seated us right away even though they were busy on Good Friday. And the live music was relaxing. Will definitely come again!
Marcus, our server, was stupendous!!!
Our food, the Mahi and the Salmon, were perfectly prepared by the chef. The atmosphere was friendly and we will definitely come back the next time we have the fortune too.
We had lunch there in August. Everyone was wearing masks and there was social distancing on the tables. Nice atmosphere overlooking the water. Food was very good.
Beutiful setting, great service, delicious food reasonable $....definitely will return.
