Bad response time. No responses to multiple forms of contact. They need to be more proactive about communicating with supporters and people who support them and even donate to their organization. They could do much better.

The website states " do not expect a response". They take no phone calls or walk in's either. So how is one supposed to get in contact with them?
They are receiving donations for what? Are they receiving stimulus or any government assistance? If so they need to be reviewed!
BS! My email was sent back in Feb.

This review is meant more for the staff of ACLU Florida (Miami-Dade) in particular. I was an intern at ACLU which all internships are unpaid. I m writing to inform students at any school in Florida (FIU, UM, FSU, UF) to not take an internship here. The internship experience won t give you an insiders perspective of ACLU and they will just give you busy work. In addition I was given a negative reference from Layssa Zamora who works/worked with interns at the time and it affected my job hunt after I graduated with my BA. As a young graduate having to explain to employers that I left an unpaid internship early due to health and other personal reasons was both embarrassing and could have tarnished my future. I wasn t told that I would receive a negative reference and this individual held a grudge because I left the organization a couple weeks early (due to healthy/family emergencies). If you re going to do an internship do one that will either pay or that will give you more insight into the industry. Too many organizations are looking to take advantage of young minorities. ACLU will not pay you for your services and as you can see they may even leave you a negative reference or not give a recommendation at all while you work hard and spend time and money at their organization. ACLU claims to fight for human rights but they don t treat their interns respectfully. I ve also heard this from other interns in various ACLU chapters. If you re studying international affairs, political science, or law try The Washington Center which will give you a first hand experience in Washington DC or try a more reputable organization. Thank you.

I am volunteering for ACLU of Florida. I get a response most every time I make an effort to make contact. They are doing their best for us. They are working to protect our Civil Rights and our Right to Vote in Florida.

About ACLU of Florida

ACLU of Florida: Defending Civil Rights and Liberties for All

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is a non-profit organization that has been fighting for the protection of civil rights and liberties since 1920. The ACLU of Florida is one of the state affiliates that works tirelessly to defend the rights of all people in Florida. The organization's mission is to ensure that every person in Florida enjoys equal protection under the law, regardless of their race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or any other characteristic.

The ACLU of Florida has a long history of defending civil liberties in the state. From fighting against segregation and discrimination during the civil rights movement to advocating for LGBTQ+ rights today, this organization has been at the forefront of many important battles. They work through various channels such as legislature, courts and on streets to make sure that everyone's voice is heard.

One area where ACLU focuses its efforts is criminal justice reform. The organization believes that everyone deserves fair treatment under the law and works towards ending mass incarceration by advocating for policies like bail reform and reducing mandatory minimum sentences. They also fight against police brutality by holding law enforcement accountable when they violate people's constitutional rights.

Another area where ACLU makes an impact is protecting reproductive freedom. They believe that individuals should have control over their own bodies without interference from politicians or religious groups. This means advocating for access to safe abortion services as well as comprehensive sex education programs.

In addition to these issues, ACLU also fights against government surveillance programs which threaten our privacy rights; defends free speech protections; advocates for immigrant rights; protects voting rights; promotes equality in education opportunities; supports disability justice initiatives among others.

The work done by ACLU would not be possible without support from volunteers who are passionate about defending civil liberties in their communities across Florida. Volunteers can get involved with local chapters or participate in events organized by national office such as rallies or protests.

Overall, if you are looking for an organization dedicated to protecting your civil liberties then look no further than ACLYU Of Florida! With its long history fighting injustice across various fronts including criminal justice reform efforts like bail reform & reducing mandatory minimum sentences while also working towards ending mass incarceration altogether - there really isn't anything else quite like it out there today!
