I've stayed here several times recently and I like the hotel, but the location is right in the middle of the tourists area... Which unfortunately brings all the homeless and panhandlers. I've staying in the financial district many times and never experience getting hustled in every corner. As for the hotel, rooms are really nice and rather historic with marble bathrooms and really high ceilings. Beds are comfortable, but the ac system is a little week. Overall 4 stars.

Nice location right at Union Square. I had a room in The Tower which had great views, was quiet and well appointed. The check in service was good. The conference I attended used multiple rooms which were pretty good for such a sizable crowd. Breakfast in the Cedar Room is weak. Sizeable and good range of equipment in the gym.

No toothbrush and bedroom slippers in the room when we checked in. Room key card had issues and we had to go up and down from the room to lobby, and even then it was still not fixed. Not what is to be expected from The Westin.

The location is perfect. There is so much to do around this area. A lot of shopping and food options.
I love the old architecture of the building. The rooms are dated but stylish.
Overall, it is really nice.

The view was pretty darn good from the top of the tower. Of course, you pay for that.
Unfortunately if I m honest, the bed didn t match the price. And simple modern amenities you get in most hotels (like a USB port in the desk or bedside table) haven t been updated. I d stay there again, just not saying it s great value for money.

The old part of the hotel that was built in the early 1980s is quaint but definitely a hundred years old. The newer Hotel is great the elevators on the outside of the building a very iconic part of this hotel and can be seen from Union Square.

Internet is not secured, I was told by the staff that I should call the IT department, REALLY, spend my time correcting their problems. The staff not very friendly, overpriced rooms. Will not return.

The Westin is so amazing! I don't come from an economically strong background, so growing up I don't think my family could afford a place like this. And with that, growing up we didn't stay in places like this. Thanks to the conference i was attending I was able to fly out to San Francisco and stay in this lovely hotel! I think the only complaint I have (which is more of an interesting observation, and I've discussed this with friends of color who stayed with me [oh, fun fact I'm black]) would be the fact that I think certain people were overtly surprised to see me or my friends walking around the halls or on the elevator, and you can see it in their face, or hear it in the gradual silence that overcomes the elevator as you're being lifted to your for. I thought it was actually funny and pretty interesting to see faces react to a gorgeous, black Adonis (ergo me) walking for instance off the elevator and into the main floor.

Best hotel in SF!! You are legitimately in the heart. Everything awesome is right outside the doors of The Westin St. Francis. The trolley goes right up the street of the hotel and takes you through the beautiful city overlooking shops and restaurants. The rooftop cheesecake factory is a 2min walk [if that] on top of a huge Macy's. Views up there are almost as amazing as the ones u get from the St. Francis. My room one time overlooked the golden gate bridge which gave me amazing photos at sunset and another time I faced the square where I could see a roller skating flash mob going on. I love the employees they ask how your day was and what adventures you had gotten into and they even recomend some hidden gems! Definitely going back next year!

What scammers... charging for refreshments for each night I was there. Seems like there just add it and hope nobody notices...$279/night for the room, 58/night for parking, no breakfast or even complimentary coffee/tea, mediocre customer service, small rooms. Desperately needs a tech refresh. Even Holiday Inn's have some sort of USB charging port the room. How has this survived in SFO?

Had all my luggage stolen from my rental car and their complimentary toiletries were a joke. If you forget something, save yourself the trouble and just go straight to the nearby Target, Walgreens, or CVS. Wouldn't recommend to a friend or enemy. If you're considering the Westin for its proximity to Union Square, skip it. I would have preferred driving to this seedy area and paying public parking by the hour. Expensive, disappointing lesson learned.

You do not want to stay here, not before Marriott settles with the workers for fair pay and affordable healthcare

It's noisy here!

The Westin St. Francis is an iconic hotel in the heart of San Francisco. The public spaces are well-appointed, but lack the grandeur of other landmark hotels in the city. The view from the glass elevators is a unique experience that should not be missed.

Great service especially the guys that take my luggage (concierge). Probably the best I've experienced! Wished all hotels in SF took example of the excellent service of your guys and the parking garage folks too!! Tipped them all $20!

Second night. The stained bed cover-blanket is still stained... Yesterday when I got in, the toilet was not very clean either.
A crappy musician is "playing" his trumpet extermelly loud for one hour on union square and it's 10pm, and I can hear people talking in the corridor.
Apart from that, the building is really cool, and well situated, my room is big enough (of course I don't know others) and the equipement is decent.

Nice room and hotel. Can't quite get the room cool enough with the AC. Have meetings here at the same time and you cannot access the "room" guest wifi in the meeting rooms and must pay $20+ per person/per day/per device for network in the meeting rooms. This is on top of the wifi in room if you've opted to pay for it as well for the faster package (over the free one).

I really wanted to like the Westin. It had some charm, but overall my experience was not great. The shower took several minutes to heat up. I requested extra towels. I never got them. I requested extra shampoo. I never got it. I requested extra sheets. I got a rollaway bed. There were four of us, and we received enough accommodation for two people. The location is great, and check-out went very smoothly. I probably still won't be staying there again.

Beware of hidden cost. They don't tell you that "mini bar" in your room has a censor on it. You can't take anythibg out or out anything in or else you will be charged. They also failed to tell me Upon Check In about the amount tgey will out on your card as a hold for incidentals. They also failed to me that if i needed water rhat bi had to come to the front desk other wise if it's in the mini bar you will be charged. Ironically it was empty. I only knew about such charge becaue I called in to let them know it isn't getting cold. Thats when they told me they'll send a cooler to my room so I can use to avoid being charged for the use of the mini bar. They also failed to go over any amenities, events and or attractions and things to do in the area. Also, the noise in Union Square will keep you up all night. The rooms could use some cleaning and updating as the carpet is heavily soiled in the rooms and the throughout the hall ways. The hotel staff aren't very personable either. All in all i enjoyed San Francisco but not so much the hotel. All in all i don't reccomend nor will I be back. Also, for the price it is over rated. You can pay the same amount if not less for a much better experience at a nearby hotel.

Nice
