This is a great, funky hotel a fee blocks from Chinatown. Tons of character and style, make this a great place to stay... Except... The rooms are old and really, REALLY need an upgrade, especially for the price you are paying. The bar is good and the food was above average for hotel food. Once they redo the rooms, this is a 5 star place.

Historic feeling hotel with large conference rooms. The staff is excellent and friendly. The hotel is just a bit older and classic feeling, not like a modern new Westin. I think my room is totally haunted.

Enjoyed a two night stay on the Starwood Preferred level. Two heavenly sleeps waking up to 180 degree city views. Located across the street from Union Square, The Westin St. Francis is almost too convenient to shops- Luis Vuitton, Neiman Marcus, and Saks Fifth Avenue can cause serious credit card damage. If you aren't big on crowds or tourists, this is not the hotel for you.

Rooms in the historical building are very small and old fashioned, but ok for a few nights stay. I cannot recommend taking the breakfast buffet at the hotel, variety and quality of food is below average, price is extremely high. Better take a la carte or one of the nearby cafes. View from meeting rooms on 32nd view of tower building is magnificent.

Great hotel with even better staff. I will definitely stay there again. No joke they knew my coffee order by the second day. The views of the sun rise are insane so try to get a room with a view.

St. Francis Hotel in San Fransisco at Union Park is a beautiful, stunning hotel with beautiful rooms and great views. The location on Union Park is perfect with the Trolley and plenty of shopping just outside the door. The registration and valet staff were friendly and very welcoming as we would expect. The breakfast at the Hotel is very good with lots of variety and options. We also like the exterior glass elevators going to and from our room. We would certainly stay here again.

High quality and beautiful hotel. Huge rooms in new tower and great food from room service. Amazing original lobby and bar. Only bad experience I've had is requesting a crib be brought to our room. we waited over an hour and called several times to ask where it was. Finally went to front desk to ask and the manager immediately brought a crib up himself. Friendly, helpful staff. Great customer service. Amazing views, across the street from Union Square. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants.

Beautiful hotel. Great central location in SF. Our visit was a little out of the ordinary due to the room we had (suite), however the staff was great, the room was immaculate, and the view was spectacular.

Really nice hotel. Rooms are little but really pretty and with everything you need, so no problems at all. People are friendly and the area is near a lot of attractions. Overall it seems like a great option. Towels and shampoos are really nice as well. But I should warn... The bed is great !!! It might get in the way of you waking up early ;)

We had a major family reunion here in March 1979 with Uncle Todd and Aunt Louise Newberry (from Santa Cruz) and Uncle Ken and Aunt Helen Waltz (from Berkeley) on my rail trip to California from New York.

Very nice hotel. Missing some of the garnishes I would expect from a luxury hotel. No water bottles in the rooms, not impressive shampoo/soap, no turn down service. Very clean, plenty of standard amenities, and conveniently located. Very nice ironing board, something that most hotels skimp on.

I would like to start by saying this hotel is beautiful and has a ton of history. When I checked in I was greeted by a staff member who made me feel like a long time friend not a guest. I was a bit down because I had to travel for business and was going to miss my wifes birthday. The only silver lining was that my wife was flying out after her birthday. The reservationist, listened and suggested possibly upgrading. I didnt need all three nights, so she reserved me Friday night and gave me a generous discount on a beautiful suite. Then Friday morning came, I confirmed all the details before I left for work, everything was set. They would move my bags and let my wife into the suite while I was at work...big shocked planned as my wife had no idea I upgraded us to the Pacific suite...out of the dog house for sure thanks to Westin. My wife lands, gets to the hotel, tells me how beautiful it is and she cant wait to see me. I ask how she liked the surprise suite. She said the room is nice??? But not a suite. They had placed her in my old room. I got back to the hotel around 1230 and was told by reservationist that suites arent typically ready at that time.
They would text us by 4pm. So we went out sightseeing and return at 4 pm...No text. I go to the counter and after multiple trips to the back, the reservationist said my deluxe room wasnt ready. DELUXE ROOM? I reserved the Pacific Suite! She goes back behind the door again, comes back several minutes later. Suddenly it wasn't booked that way and someone else was occupying our suite. But she is able to get me a deluxe room on a higher floor. I asked to speak to the hotel manager and she says she's a supervisor and this was the best she was going to do.

SO, what really happened? Westin had been selling out that week, they saw an opportunity to sell a suite at a significantly higher rate and they totally screwed me over with out batting an eye. I did however get a half sincere apology and was not charged the upcharge for my smaller room on a higher floor. Thank you Westin, I will never forget how I was treated, nor do I plan to stay in your beautiful hotel again.

Great, historic hotel to stay in when visiting San Francisco. I came for a wedding and we stayed here, which also happened to be where the reception was hosted. Service at the hotel was great upon check in, they held our bags for us because we were running late for the wedding!

The best part was the reception. It was held on the 32nd floor and the panoramic view of the city was incredible. Not only that, but the staff provided to service the reception (cocktail hour and dinner) was outstanding. Everyone was very attentive and friendly and kept the night rolling smoothly.

Led to an outstanding reception, one of the best I had ever been too. Can't say I spent a tremendous amount of time in the room, but I enjoyed my stay.

Absolutely terrible experience. Was double charged for parking which costs $80 and you had to wait 30 mins for the car if you wanted to leave! Had to call 3 times to finally get it fixed. The room was overpriced for what we got. Have been to much nicer best westerns..
