Hate hospitals that don't spend time with patients...

Hate hospitals that don't spend time with patients. Where patients are just a number and nobody had the least concern assist from billing and added examinations. They have all the time to joke and loiter around but no time to speak to the patient. Billing is swift. They encourage you to go through emergency so they can charge more. Unnecessary procedures to increase billing. I hate hospitals.

The staff in the mammography department were not very welcoming or helpful. I had no idea what to expect and they made my experience very anxious and I was stressed. It would be great if they took more time to explain things. I felt like I was rushed the entire time and was a burden on the doctor. I will go elsewhere.

if I could leave 0 stars I would STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! long story short i was supposed to have spinal fusion surgery done by their chief of neurology Dr Gooting (sp) thre first time they opened me up and found a cist so they stapled me back up and sent me home now a year prior i had a heart attack and was meds but because of the surgery i was told by the dr to not take them a week prior surgery so needless to say when they sent me home after not doing the sugery i ended up having bad chest pains and spent the night at my local hospital SSH i would give them 5 stars and highly recomend the dr there. So now we have rescheduled the surgery and was agin off my meds for a week and the dr calls me at 6am the morning of the surgery and says he doesn't feel well and he will call me back and let me know when the reschedule date is. So hje calls me b ack a hour later tells me it's a week from now for the next surgery well i now will beoff my meds for 2 weeks lwet my clienst know yet agin my store will be closed and off i go to have my surgery also take mind this is about a hour drive for me get to the hostial to find out n ot even on the bjoard for surgery and i was told to wait and dr gootting will come down and talk to find out 3 hbrs later he wasn't even in the building so they gave me his number to casll and of caorse it's voice mall two weeks latter here we are still no call on why the surgery was canceled and whats going on excuse the typos and grammer very hard to type hence one of the reason for surgery

Steward Health is trying to force its patients to ...

Steward Health is trying to force its patients to use its own hospitals - in this case to force Arlignton residents to go to St. Elizabeth in Brighton! (huh?!?) This goes directly against the modern variants of the Hippocratic oath: "The health of my patient will be my first consideration;". All doctors pledge this, but the doctors of Steward Health are blatantly accepting financial remuneration to direct patients not to the providers that they think are best, but the providers that are part of the Steward Health for-profit hospital system. In my own experience they threw a fit that I wanted to go to the Joslin center for diabetes care rather than St. Elizabeth. They were passive-aggressive in delaying and obstructing the referral without telling me, and I very nearly ended up in a self pay situation because of it. They had no problem with me seeing a specialist mind you, it just had to be *THEIR* specialist in order to maximize profits and create a monopoly in my health care. You cannot trust this practice to provide you the best medical care, IMHO they put the profit of the Steward group first.

Just go somewhere else if you have to go to a hospital. Read these reviews and know that it is true. It is a terrible place to get treatment. They are understaffed and sometimes rude. Never go here.

This hospital is worse than going to some back alley doctor. Do not let the people you love go here, especially if in intensive care. If so, please transfer them asap to any other hospital. I wish I had that chance.

literally the worst billing department ever - i have been trying to pay my bills and figure out insurance on multiple bills for over a year. Come to find out - almost a year later - they had put the billing in wrong under commercial insurance and that is why my insurance said I wasn't eligible... it took monthly calls for someone to figure this out.

I got into ER at St. Elizabeth on Sunday evening, ...

I got into ER at St. Elizabeth on Sunday evening, September 16th, 2018. The display on the corner of Washington st in Brighton showed waiting time of 8 minutes. On top of that, I called on the way there, to ensure the ER wasn't packed. I've got a sprained ligament in my knee and was in pain. The ER was practically empty when we arrived at around 7.30pm. It took about 20-25 minutes to get attention after I was registered: got temperature and blood pressure checked. After that it took over an hour for a nurse to take us from the waiting room inside for treatment. During the next 2.5 hours I got X-Ray done, got a pair of crutches, 2 ibuprofen pills and saw a doctor, who told me I didn't break anything and need MRI and see a specialist. Everybody was nice and polite. But at the same time, everything took 5 times longer than anticipated. I have a hard time understanding why I was there from 7.30 till 11.30 pm to get an X-Ray done and spend 3.5 minutes with a doctor. Very inefficient.

Dr. Cronk- Neurosurgeon is a kind, caring, compassionate doctor. She operated on my mother in December 2017. The surgery was successful. She took her time explaining the procedure before and after surgery. Her bedside manner is terrific. She is always smiling and gives you an encouraging word. Office appointments are on time. Her team was always available to answer any questions that came up before, during and after surgery. In addition, the nurses from pre-op, holding, recovery and on M7 were so kind and attentive. No waiting for a nurse or assistant to take care of her needs. Highly recommend Dr. Cronk, her team and St. Elizabeth's Staff for making this a fearless experience.

Rude, does not answer questions, ridiculous rules re:cell phones. I went in to stop hand tremors, but my hand tremors are worse now AND I can barely walk. They said I could only go to one very distant location for physical rehab - this location is not covered by my insurance which St Eliz said it was. I am looking for help with my mobility issues then may talk with a lawyer. IMHO stay away from St Elizabeth's (unless you want to lose your ability to walk).

This place is really going down hill. Fast.
The er staff, while nice, are totally overworked and it takes forever!
Once you're admitted, forget getting out.

After they told me the exact time they would be ready....3 hours ago.
Totally horrible experience. I'm sorry this is the only place mom would go.

I recently had my Carpal Tunnel surgery done at St. ELIZABETH'S. Everyone was so nice! I was thoroughly informed about each aspect of the procedure both before and afterward. The post-op team even called me at home the following day to be sure I was doing okay. This was not my first procedure at St. ELIZABETH 'S. I have been similarly treated each time in the past. All I can say is Thank you for the level of proffessional care you provide! I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone considering treatment.

I had my baby boy at St Elizabeth's in June. It was a fantastic experience. The labor and delivery nurses, doctors, and staff were wonderful! They were present, calm, supportive, and kind. I never felt like a number, they treated me like a friend. When my baby was finally born after 33 hours in the hospital they celebrated right along with me, and I knew he was in great hands until we left 2 days later. I would recommend St. Elizabeth's Medical center to anyone who has a baby on the way!

The entire culture of the hospital is patriarchal ...

The entire culture of the hospital is patriarchal with surgeons as the patriarchs. When a chief surgeon acts as the Gd and everyone else is there to serve her, rest of the team take it out on the patients, sadly taking pleasure in so doing. Nightshift nurses didn't care about the patients AT ALL. Only give them the prescribed medication and take the vitals every few hours or so.

For example, the instrument next to the patients were bleeping continuously with a high pitch sound preventing all the patients in the room from sleeping. After a number of unsuccessful attempts to stop the sound, I had to unplug the whole system at 3 am. It was only then a nurse showed up and within 15 seconds the electronics were back and working without making a hiss. Other patients in the room started complaining too, when then they felt necessary to reset all the instruments to stop the piercing sound, enabling the patients to sleep!!

Overall it was a terrible experience from interaction at the front desk, to nurses, to arrogant surgeon. Avoid the place if you have a choice!!!

From the moment I first entered St Elizabeth's being greeted at the Information Desk, to my Otolaryngology Surgery and follow-up, I experienced nothing but the most Professional care from the kindest of people.
Being a resident of NH for more than 3 decades, I can accurately assert that "there is a difference". And in cases such mine, sometimes that difference can mean a matter of life or death!
Massachusetts residents having access to a Hospital like St. Elizabeth's, should consider themselves truly blessed.

I was admitted via Med Flight Truck from Good Samaritan. I had a tamponade and was in the Cath Lab having grains inserted within 15 minutes of arrival. I can t say enough about the care I received. ICU, doctors, nurses and technicians - even the transport people. So very pleased with all involved in my care!!

It was the most HORRIBLE experience I ve had. I am a student at Boston University and I had called in an emergency and they connected me to your hospital with an ambulance coming.

I reach the hotel and then after 5 minutes of someone attending me, I was kept at the waiting area for 3 and a half hours. An EMERGENCY PATIENT KEPT IN WAITING FOR 3.5 HOURS and I eventually left without getting treated because my condition was getting worse.

I kept asking people to help me and get me the appointment but your pathetic and unresponsive staff did absolutely nothing.

I hope you will take this seriously because you could be responsible for my life and chose to ignore your responsibilities. I am considering taking legal action against your hospital if I am not given a formal apology for absolute lack of responsibility and possibly worsening my situation.

It is almost one year since I was hospitalized at St. Elizabeth's. I felt so traumatized by the experience there. I just now feel that I can write this review. I was shocked by how run down and dirty the unit was. The tiles in my bathroom were falling off and this actually caused a flood in my room. This is just the physical experience.

I thought Dr. Stern was arrogant and did not validate my concerns. I think that he is what they call "dusty". Meaning he should step aside and offer the younger psychiatrists and residents to grow and participate in treatment planning. I feel as though he is
from era where they called psychiatric hospitals Insane asylums.

I had to illicit the help of an attorney to get discharged. An outside psychologist had to evaluate me too. They both agreed I was no longer a danger to myself which is the criteria specific to my treatment and discharge plan.
Dr. Stern still put up barriers to my discharge plan. It was not until he took a short vacation that I was discharged.

To this day I avoid all Steward Hospitals
(For profit) hospitals for fear that I could potentially be transferred to St. Elizabeth's
Hospital. I needed the support and safety of
the hospital when I first arrived. It was the additional six and a half weeks that left me
With increased hopelesness.

I would advise anyone to stay away from their psychiatric unit. Boston has some of the best hospitals in the world. Utilize the best care you can receive.

Absolutely horrible Hospital. Communication is the worst I've ever experienced in any Hospital in New England. It is the norm to call there at least four times before you actually get a person and do not get disconnected. Their phones are constantly down. Their computers are down. How can a hospital near Boston Massachusetts have so many telephone problems. This review is based on the hospital itself not the doctor himself. The doctor / surgeon was okay. But the other people that work there horrendous. Would never ever go back or send anybody in my family there again.

This Hospital is awful.I had chest pains and got rushed here by ambulance and waited in the ER Room for two hours before they conducted tests.I was also left there unsupervised while the nurses went to lunch.I had to ask a security guard walking by for a nurse.Even he could not believe I was left alone like that. no matter what I was there for. They then told me I was experiencing a caffeine overdose.I do not even live in the area. But the Paramedics were concerned. They thought they would give me better treatment then the hospitals in my area would have-so wrong. The Paramedics.were kind.If I could rate that experience it would be a three. But of course I am rating this hospital in which does not deserve a rating.Do not get me wrong I am happy they helped others. But my personal experience was bad.

After getting off the phone with my grandfather , he could barely speak . Called and was transfered 3 times to find out where he was, he didn't sound good at all. Then the nurse was rushy and had no clue what was going on. I asked to speak to his nurse and after a hold she told me his nurse was not available due to being busy with patients. My gut on this place is another Massachusetts crap establishment . Nurse sounds 25 with zero passion . If this is what they call quality , I hope to God no one ends up in the care of these people . The vibe was low energy and overworked nurses . This hospital needs to get there act together fast !
