This is an awesome venue it houses 2 stages. The first is on the main floor and the stage is surrounded by a balcony to view the show, the second stage is in the basement aka. The Shelter and is where the famous movie 8 mile was filmed starring Eminem this is a Detroit treasure for sure so get tickets to a show and see for your self.

Saint Andrews is one of my favorite spots to see a show in Detroit. We were a little bummed they changed things up with the balcony, it wasn't worth the additional monies ($30-$50 per person to go above) to us that night but maybe at a future show. Now that we know about it.

Very cozy, well decorated concert venue. Beautiful aesthetic in the inside despite looking quite bland outside

Staff were friendly, helpful, and made and effort to endure people enjoyed the show. You get to be very close to the performance while the bar is always nearby. If you see a group you like in town at St Andrews Hall, you cannot pass it up

Concerts are always fun. The only venue in detroit that doesnt charge you 10 bucks for water lol. Staff is great. Seating available on the balcony in case you get tired... or too drunk. I love st Andrew's.

Not a fan even though the building updates were nice. Still Extremely cramped on main level and the speakers were very distorted. The quality of sound was pretty rough, not enjoyable at all. As a big concert fan, for the first time ever, I couldn't wait to leave the show because the environment was not worth it. On plus side, the place was very clean, and staff were fantastic all around.

First time to The Shelter @ St Andrew's Hall! The sound quality is fantastic, the staff are friendly, the perfect venue for a great concert! Red Wanting Blue was amazing! So easy to find this locale, just moments from the Detroit/ Windsor tunnel! Worth the drive for a wonderful musical experience! Will be back for sure!

Attended the Rittz concert, there's was a mosh Pitt that they ended up getting under control but people were definitely passing blunts around to eachother they had snuck in but overall decent venue.

Went for Led Zeppelin2 and it was a nice venue. Crazy to pay $20 each to upgrade for upstairs then another $20 for nice chairs. Bad setup of ladies bathroom upstairs.. Need new dryers.. Upper bar area was cool with tons of room. Employees were all nice!

Great place for live music. We have received complementary tickets several times. Last time we we to see the wailers, we up graded to the balcony seats. It was nice to have a comfortable seating away from the crowd and the view and sound was awesome

I was there for G. LOVE AND SPECIAL SAUCE!! I had a great time. The show was awesome, the vibe in the building was great. The only problem I had was getting in. I had a bottle of contact eyedrops which I needed because if the dry winter air. They did not want to let me bring them in because they could be LSD!! Once I got past security I had a great time, I had an all access pass and life was good. Was hanging after for the after party with G. and I interacted with the security who were in great moods and generally nice. Over all it was a great time.

PEACE

Awesome Venue; Great Staff

Awesome Venue; Great Staff
Went to see Elbow play here, never been to Detroit before and wasn't sure what to expect. Got there an hour before doors open and ended up about 6ft from the stage.
All the staff were great, from the professionalism and friendliness of the security (not a match I often see anywhere) to the fun bar staff: everyone wanted you to have a great evening. This is my new favourite small venue to see a band and will gladly make the drive from Toronto to Detroit again!

Finally made it here for the first time and was pleasantly surprised. Beer was reasonably priced. The main floor is open (no seats). The balcony was a U-shape with 2 rows of seats on the side and I'm not sure how many in the back. Reserved seats up there were about twice as expensive. I was happy that we chose the main floor instead. As a relatively short person, I could still see the performers, as the stage was raised. Lots of parking around the venue for not too expensive. We paid $8 for the garage across the street. Would go again.

It was a great set.

But.....

Security are all complete douche bags that yell at and threaten you when you try to ask them a genuine question.
Bartenders most definitely dilute your drink and will charge you more than what's posted on the board And write in their own tips. The beer I got was said to be 7$ ... nope I get charged 18$ for a normal can non craft just basic domestic. And when I said something about being more than double charged. They threatened to have me removed. The same happened to my friends who were with me and a few other people I conversed with.

I will most likely never step foot in this joke of an establishment again.

To music artists out there, take your show to a different venue that actually respects its patrons..

I used to like this place because you could catch a small intimate show. Now it seems like they fill up to capacity to the point of packed sardines. You can't even enjoy a show or wave your hands from side to side without punching someone on accident. The bar is over priced and very limited. There should be a byob option! Parking is moderately priced at the lot across and on the side. Not sure if they own it, but I've never had an issue with someone stealing out my car.

Things have been updated since the last time I was there. Plenty of bars inside which makes it even easier and faster to get a drink. The sound and lighting is great. However, they now charge an additional fee to be on the balcony section, but the plus side is that you do have your own private bar and easy access to bathrooms. They finally have air conditioning from the last time that I was there, but the only down side is that it gets pretty cold in the balcony section when the air is blowing, so be prepared for that. Otherwise, it's always a great time at St. Andrews!!

So much that could be said about this place whether it be about the for history and influence its had on music in the 'D' as well as the world or just your own personal experiences regardless this is one of those places that no matter why went you'll never forget it. This is one of those unique places that is alive and has its own heart beat and soul and you feel it from the time you're waiting in line, till when you leave. Sounds crazy? maybe, but that's best way I can explain it. If you been here then you already know. Don't ever pass up the chance to party here!!

My daughter and I went to the Half Alive concert at Saint Andrew's Hall. We had a great time at this very intimate, well staffed venue. Our accommodations were awesome! We had balcony seats in the Society Room that allowed us a clear view of the stage, so that we were able to enjoy the concert. I would like to thank the staff of Saint Andrew's Hall, especially Antonio in security, for making our first visit to Saint Andrew's Hall an awesome event and night to remember!!!

10/10 would recommend, i came in with my service dog and asked to be put in a place she would not be stepped on, Right away we were given the girl in charge of security, She gave us our own bouncer and we were put in the corner by the bar close to the front, they are very accommodating not even one minor issue, I'm absolutely coming here again!

Have been here twice in about a year to see Atmosphere. Staff & security are nice, easy to find with lots of parking near by, not sure if drink prices are high or not (12 for a mixed), but that's usually the case no matter where you see a show. Kinda felt like last night the sound guy was a little off, but could've just been me. Won't stop us from going back.

I saw Jeremy Enigk here on 7/30/2016. The sound was bad. I'm sure the equipment was decent, but the engineer wasn't attentive. I'm an audiophile, so I notice these things. The opening act was too quiet. I was in the front row, and it was difficult to hear him over people talking back at the bar. An audio compressor would've evened out the levels. Jeremy had brittle "s" sounds. It would have been easy for the sound person to turn down the offensive frequency or use a de-esser. Finally, the staff upstairs was cleaning up after an early show that had just ended. They were pounding, walking heavy, and moving equipment during the entire show. It was quite unpleasant.

We saw L7 here! Lots of standing room for general admission & the balcony probably has a great view! We hung out Stage R by the bar & had quick access to refreshments! They had my Jameson on the rocks so I was fine! The Ladies' room was all right & we were real close to the speakers so everything was wildly loud #punkrock
