I am not a young man any longer, but went to a alt rock concert opening tour night for three bands there. I saw " Fitness" , "Castle Comer", and " Big Data" . It was great experience, it's ok to be out after 11 at 5

Attended the Frisky Whiskey event and the venue St. Andrews is as always great. The staff was friendly and interactive. It is a great old building with great character. Good number of bathrooms . There are stairs so you may need to do some walking. The event was great. The shows were well managed and fun. The live art was very cool. The vendors were friendly, fun and had a wide variety options.

Missio 4.19.19 at St. Andrew's Hall was absolutely brilliant. The venue was perfect and the staff - incredible. I have never felt more cared for at an event in my life. From the moment we stepped in line all the way until we left. Wes in particular was fantastic, kind, and genuine. When we mentioned there was anxiety about being in the crowd (but we desperately wanted to see Missio), he went out of his way to not only ease our concerns but came back to check on us and give us quick ways out if needed. He chatted with parts of our group throughout the entire night and was so sweet! Amazing venue, perfect music, great staff with an incredible bearded Wes!

I ve seen multiple concerts here and at the shelter and the staff is always very attentive and kind. I feel very safe here and in the parking lots surrounding. One time a homeless man started bothering me and a friend in the parking lot and security immediately approached and asked the man to leave. Last concert I saw here a guy who was either head of security or owned the building saw my bloody knee (I fell down in the parking lot) and promised me medical attention. After the concert him and a few other staff members asked me if my knee was ok. They also occasionally hand out free water to people in the front of the crowd to make sure everyone is hydrated

Its been years since ive been to St. Andrews. Probably at least 20 years. I came to attend the Ella Mai concert in Mar 2019. Staff was awesome especially Antonio. He went out of hia way to be kind and appreciative of the people that were there to patronize the event. Standing wasnt so bad but I must say one thing. I wa as highly upset that individuals were smoking during the entire event Nd nothing was done about it. They were not amoking cigarettes they were passing a joint. Thisbwas an event the many young teenage kids attended because of who it was and even some younger. If you are going to allow kids into the venue it has to have standards. And even myself as an adult didnt get dressed up to come out and have a nice time to leave smelling like marijuana! And you cant tell me nobody saw the film of constant smoke going into the air with an unmistakable scent. For this reason I cant return! If people want to kill themselves go right on ahead but be considerate of others that you are killing with the second hand smoke and the bad example that you are setting! Crowd control is mandatory and where there is non i cant be!

First time in Detroit. The show was in the Shelter in the basement of the club. Staff was awesome and friendly. Shelter is one large room with one bar. The bar is a square so you can get service on any side. The bartenders were friendly and quick. There is some bench seating along the one wall but other than that it's standing room. Bathrooms were clean, always a plus at a venue. Beer prices were about standard for a large venue. Did not have a smoking area where you could take you drink but it wasn't a huge deal. Sound was good. Staff was friendly. Definitely would go back.

Fantastic show at the shelter, haywyre is one of the best concerts ive been to in years. The staff was super great. Shout out to jeremy on security detail. Great guy. Super kind and down to earth. Everybody did a wonderful job. Great venue. Cant wait to go back.

A smaller venue that allows for a more intimate experience with your favorite band or artist. Balcony seats are also available for a slightly higher cost. Went to a concert here over a week ago and enjoyed myself. Make sure you bring ear plugs if you are able to get to the front row of the venue. Your ears will be ringing for days afterward.

Walking up there should be signs for VIP and GA. We waited in the VIP line for 30 minutes and didn't even know. We could've been up further in the GA line. It would've been nice to have signs or been told right away.

Came out from MA to catch a Peter Wolf and the Midnight Travelers show and was quite impressed with Saint Andrews Hall. Plenty of friendly fans filled the venue and didn't disappoint with their enthusiasm! Very convenient to have bars within the venue too. The staff was extremely courteous and friendly. I'd definitely fly out from MA to catch another show here!!

High drink prices ($6 for 16oz PBR), but decent mid-sized music venue. A homeless man was "selling" parking spaces next to the venue and weaseled an extra money from me, accusing me of stealing his when I offered him more. Not in the safest location, but okay venue nonetheless.

Went to see Jerrod Neimann got kicked out and not allowed to return because the person I went with was smoking an electronic cigarette. Before we got booted I saw an employee smoking an ecig while he was working. I'll never attend another show at this venue due to this experience.

The venue is mediocre at best. Feels cramped in the worst ways. They hand out plenty of free tickets so the line is insanely long unless you get there very early. People with open flames in the crowd, smoking. Staff confronted one group but didn't kick them out or take their lighter. As soon as staff left, they were back at it. Poor control by the staff. Combine that with a packed room full of drunk people, and that's not a comforting situation.

One of the best clubs in Detroit.
This place has been around forever, and still remains one of the best venues to see a show.

Nice place to attend an event! I just wish that for newbies like myself that have never been --- it was a clearer indication when purchasing tickets there is a difference between floor "standing room only" verses "balcony seated" tickets that cost more. Thus, I would have definitely paid the difference had I known.

Went to a concert here tonight at the shelter and was completely disappointed by the bartending. It would take 20 min to get a drink because two were on staff and when asking for a certain liquor she said no we don't have this, but it was sitting right there. They seemed to have no clue what was going on. I'm not sure if this is how its usually staffed but some help and bartending classes would help.

SAH is so much better than it was in the 80 s/90 s. But, I don t like the bands as much. They are booking better shows lately than the were a few years back. I heard that GWAR was great. Too bad I didn t get to see that show. I saw them at the Latin Quarter 30 years ago. That s the same place I got to see Jane s Addiction.

Went to the Shelter for the first time last week. What a great venue! I saw Coast Modern and it was an amazing show! The sound was great, it was easy to get a drink, and it wasn't very crowded. Overall a perfect small venue to see some lesser known bands. Can't wait to go there again!

The staff was very lovely. One of the bartenders offered me a emo's night ticket I would have accepted it but I don't live in the area and a couple of the security guards were nice enough to play Tic-tac-toe and rock paper scissors with me while we waited for the opening act for badflower. Very nice and they were even willing to help me find my bra after I threw it on stage unfortunately it is a momentum to somebody now so I can't get it back but that's even better. Everybody was so nice that worked there I even was allowed to get back my pocket knife at the end of the show

Pretty decent place. Clean bathroom. Need to work on how to make the lines better and more present outside. People we're just cutting in front of people that were waiting in line for a hour or more because they didn't know where the line started or ended.

I love the bands in this concert hall but the AC is too cold. I feel like I should sweat and endure a concert, not being frozen...
And the sound is very loud. Please do something about these two things and I'll be in for all your venues!

The building consists of 2 separate concert spaces, the upper being for the more well-known and more populated artists that come through, called "St. Andrew's Hall". The somewhat lesser know venue is located in the basement and is reserved for shows that may not be as big as the ones hosted upstairs. The basement level is called "The Shelter". Overall, the entire building is well air-conditioned and doesn't generally get too crowded. Restrooms (Men's) are sub-par, but you're not their for a good toilet. The upstairs venue usually has 2 bars on either side of the standing area, while the downstairs has one large 360-degree bar. The sidewalk in front of the hall is gated off and used as a smoking section during concerts. Venue has had plenty of good and well-known artists come through and play. I have yet to have a bad experience here.

Great staff and hospitality crew at St. Andrew's Hall. My grandfather is wheelchair-bound and the staff made sure he was comfortable the entire time. Made it easy to get in and out of the building, and one staff member took the time to help my mother wheel my grandfather back to their vehicle and help him get in the vehicle after the show. Thank you St. Andrew's!
