Great bit of history so enjoyable good afternoon out .
Big up to the home dawg Brunel for that Peng engineering!
Fantastic day out, captivated our 4 year old for most of it too!
Super great money and historical value!!!Excellent attraction for families, very friendly and equipped for children of any age and mainly it's free returns for a year. An utter gem. :-)
Some of the best Bristol's attractions.Definately worth a visit! Highly recommend ~
Really fun and informative visit. Can't believe I've lived in and around Bristol for nearly 20 years and hadn't been before. Fully accessible with lifts and stairs throughout now, don't forget to get the kids scrubbing the deck! Layout of the ship is a little confusing so I'd ask for a couple of maps but the boarding pass game (kind of a treasure hunt) is great fun. Unfortunately that the boarding pass scanner computers didn't seem to be working well when we went (or maybe need a little more instruction?). Highly recommended and your ticket lasts a whole year too!
An interesting surprise! We were simply looking for things to do in the area so the decision to visit was a last minute thing, but well worth it! Fascinating, interactive visit through British history with the ship being its own museum. I would go back and pay that entrance fee all over again!
Amazing site discovering the oldest and first steam ship who crossed the ocean to bring Europeans to Australia for the golden rush.
Had a lovely works evening party. The staff were very attentive. The ship itself is looking very good and it is definitely worth a visit with so much to see on board and in the museum.
It's open again, book in advance. Staggered entry. Annual tickets are being extended if you purchased previously.
What a beautiful piece of history. Loved that you can see the different levels of class and how it was in the days of the passenger ship. Thank you
A must for everyone to learn about the genius that was Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his engineering masterpieces. Lovingly restored and the story of life in the late 1800 is compelling
Amazing! So much stuff to do and see! There are circuses every 40 mins! I would definitely recommend this place to you.
Amazing achievement by Brunel and also by the Trust.
Very good day out, interesting ship, good surroundings. Good value with return within a year. Highly recommend.
One of the best maritime museum I have been to. I had a very in-depth conversation about the lifting gear and the engine. And gave me has time to explain what he had learnt about it.
Brilliant museum. Loved the stories and the way that the characters on board the ship interact with you. Staff are really helpful and knowledgeable.
Brilliant so much to see. Great for kids and adults
Truly amazing restoration of a world changing piece of engineering
Great exhibition showing the working life of this great ship.
Fascinating. So much to see. So much detail - right down to the shipping sound effects and rats (not real ones) running through the kitchen cupboards.
Really interesting, I wish we had more time to explore!
Excellent attraction, very hands on and the interaction with didn't areas of the ship was brilliant. The Victorians wrote hilarious as well, never bought a leech before... Still haven't but was a laugh
We came all the way from Australia to see it! Well worth the entrance fee - beautifully restored, a delightful floating museum with informed, attentive staff. Couldn't ask for more. My husband's great grandfather migrated to Australia on the Great Britain, and we found it moving to walk around on the very ship he made the voyage on.
I took my class here on a school trip. From start to finish we were welcomed by the friendly staff. Staff were engaging and happy to speak to the kids to tell them fascinating facts etc.
The picnic benches, although outside, were under cover and had some lovely big heat lamps to keep us warm while we ate. There was a cafe too which I popped into for a cake. All looked delicious!
Fantastic place to visit! Definitely worth the ticket price!
My absolute favourite thing to do as a family - or not - in Bristol. The ship sweeps you away to the time when it was out sailing, with touch, smell, sound and much more. You can even see the engine working! Also, your ticket is valid for a year. I highly recommend this place, especially if you plan to bring kids.
It was a good day but 5 hours wasnt long enough. The people that tell you about the ship are very friendly and all round a famy friendly place.
Excellent day out for family, especially if weather is rainy. Impressive restoration of boat and what life would have been on-board
Very interesting place to visit, especially on board the ship. Worth the entry fee but allow plenty of time to look around to get full value.
Historic ship that definitely fills an afternoon if you are looking for something to do in Bristol. Amazing that some many Bristolians have never stepped foot on the SS Great Britain.
Interesting historical venue. Good for kids and good cafe
A must visit! I can't praise this museum high enough. If you see anything in Bristol make sure you see the SS Great Britain!!!
Great exhibition, plenty to see. Expensive for what it is though
Very interesting. Yu can learn a lot about the boat and what it would be like back then
I was expecting nothing more than an old ship. I was very surprised to find that it's quite a big museum on and around a ship.
The restoration of this ship is fantastic. It's a great place for all ages.
Well worth a visit. The ship is fascinating especially the below waterline experience. Tickets are valid for 12 months representing excellent value for money. Parking is right next to the ship, P&D but you get a refund when you buy your ticket.
It's really really Good!!! Better than I thought. I thought that just a "museum", but inside the boat, it surprised me!! The rooms are soooooooo cool. Totally worth to visit!!!
Very beautiful boat, complete and informative visit. Souvenir shop, toilet, bar ... to make absolutely
The price of admission can be a bit expensive when you do not know (we can not see anything from the outside) but the visit is well worth the detour, the museum is full of information of the time and the visit of the boat ( cabins, restaurant, kitchen, storage, etc.) accompanied by an audioguide (several languages including French) telling the story of life aboard this boat.
very nice snout and visit of the impressive boat. to do
Amazing experience and lovely staff! Totally a must!
Historically fascinating. I was here in December 2018 and it was very quiet with hardly anyone around which was great for me. Very friendly staff. Has a gift shop with varieties of souvenirs. I was impressed with the interior but not overwhelmed, but enough to better understand its significance. Definitely a great place for kids and adults alike. One of the most memorable was when I left, there's a ferry that takes me to the other side, all part of the much needed services to explore SS Great Britain. Perfect day of exploring this site. Highly recommended.
First class , everyone in the UK should visit, I.K.B. a forgotten national hero.
Went here 3 months ago for a meeting. There is even a library in the Museum.
Superb! Especially for a bristolian history fanatic like me! Children love our visits just as I did as child with my grandparents.
Really enjoyable half-day out. Not a stuffy museum where kids (and big kids) aren't allowed to touch anything, you can pretty much go anywhere in and around the ship, including underneath it, nobody "tutting" at you or herding you from one place to another. Enthusiastic staff and volunteers, a relaxed and very well thought out experience and ticket works as an annual pass. Also in a nice, lively part of Bristol lots of boat trips etc from just outside the museum, there are places to sit and eat a packed lunch riverside or an excellent cafe on site. I wish more museums were like this
Nice compact ship for seeing the inner workings. A good experience for both kids and grown-ups overall. Informative experience but costs are a bit too much. Unless you are able to return all year around, can skip and take a few free tours on ships nearby. Ticket is the same as annual pass so makes sense for people living around Bristol.
Love the place. Friendly, helpful staff. Beautiful museum. Really interesting. Would recommend visiting if ever you were in Bristol.
Great afternoon. Loads to see and they are opening a museum to Brunel
Fantastic reenactment of life on board ship about 150 years ago. Sights sounds and smells! Kids love it. Great to have a piece of British history back in the place it was born. The museum is excellent too. Well worth the entry fee.
