I had a bad experience dealing with this store for renting ski gears. I highly recommend you to take your business somewhere else. Rapid rent have more selections of boots, skis and helmets for you to choose from and even cheaper if you ve kids.
Sports Rent took care of me after Abom Ski and Snow would not. Just wanted the caps of my skis which I had purchased there. Sport rent took care of me , took the caps off, filled the holes and did a stellar job of tuning up my old snowboard at the same time. Had a great day on the hill afterwards!!! Thanks again

Such a incredible place. Rented 2 kayaks for the day. They were crazy busy but the owner and another valued worker were on top of things and gave us a personal experience even through the covid pandemic. Store has everything you think you will need to rent. Happy to have found this hidden gem.
Went here to rent cross country skis during a super busy morning and they were still fast, efficient and easy to work with. Dispute a line up they got us in and out with our skis in very short order. Great customer service.

I was going to rent a bike rack here until I heard how they treated my buddy. He had a bike rack rented for nine days but unfortunately due to injury, they had to cancel the trip. They will not refund the 200$, only a credit. We live in Ontario so a credit is pointless. It was cancelled ten-11 days out.
Really bad tunes for the snowboards Feinstein would recommend having somewhere else.

Went here to rent skates and the staff was really helpful along with very reasonable prices! The only negative thing is the skates were quite worn down but does not affect the functionality.
Reasonable rates, decent gear, right on the road to Banff. We've used them several times and never had an issue with rentals. The skis are maybe not top end, but are definitely not the lowest either.
I just want to say this - I come rent (only ever a raft) from this place time to time. Im familiar with my order and its usually a painless transaction. Ive learned if you rent from them 1st thing you need to return same day.
If you rent past (approx) 430pm they will let you return it the next day anytime before they close = extra long rental by default.
Ive broken paddles and theyve been nice about it - maybe theyre a dime a dozen im not sure.
If you're looking for a well priced rental service, this is the place for you.
Be prepared to deal with some mediocre/subpar customer service and lacklustre selection, but these are incredibly good prices for what you get.
I highly recommend it to newbies on a budget.
Always get my skates sharpened here and they re great. Tried getting them sharpened at another place and could immediately tell it wasn t done right so I came back to sports rent and they were good as new when they were done with them!

Prices are great, and its probably tough too beat sports rent on value... but I've also had a mountain bike from Sports Rent start to fall apart while on a trail.
Super convenient location and they open pretty early. Perfect for grabbing your gear before an early morning departure to the mountains. They're a bit pricier than the UofC outdoor centre.

If I could give 0 stars I would for the customer service. They wanted to charge me an additional $30 to do a quick calibration of my kids boots in their ski bindings. Fortunately I was able to do it myself in less than two minutes. This should have been a simple complimentary service after spending $100 on tuning the family s skis.

Usually Always come here to rent my outdoor activety rentals but my last visit was very negative. Myself and my cousins walked in to rent skates for the 3 of us. The guy behind the counter was on his cellphone texting and didn t even greet us when we walked in. After about 5 mins he looked up and said do you know it works? Pick a pair that fits you and walked off. So we all picked pairs that we thought worked. Sadly after we started skating all of our feet where hurting in a few places. For me it was the tops of my feet. We only went skating for 30 mins tops before we returned the the skates. Will not rent anything from here ever again!

I have been going there for years whether it is for a quick skate sharpen, high performance ski rental, or snowshoes for the afternoon and I have never had any issues. The rental process is seamless and definitely cheaper than anywhere else in the city or Sunshine/Lake Louise!
I've also used them during the summer for an annual rafting trip and my summer experience was just as pleasant.
I already recommend them to my family and friends or anyone or comes into town to visit!

Nice people and low prices but the quality of the camping gear is quite bad. A very leaky tent and, apparently one of the employees personal mats that didn t hold air for more than an hour for a two week trip made us all a bit miserable. Unfortunately, strongly recommend to just pay a bit more for better quality :/
Nice people, but prices are higher and products lower spec compared to U of C. Also check Sporting Life for new skis at same price as their end of season sales.

Fantastic work adjusting the gears on my higher-end road bike. Best price in the city considering all of the $100 tune up places in Calgary. Will be coming back here exclusively for my bike repair needs.

Per manager comment I followed up with the staff. The manager expressed his apology for the mix up and offered me a store credit.
Changed rating from 2-4 stars. Looking forward to rafting with Sports Rent again as the follow-up and willingness to resolve the issue shows good customer service.

Called earlier last week to rent two 6 person rafts. I was quoted the amount for the rafts, which is what I paid. However, I specifically asked about costs associated with life vests and paddles. I was told that life vests were $3.00 each, which was correct, however I asked if paddles were included. I was told twice that paddles were included and we could have a paddle per person on the raft. Once we arrived to pick up our rafts we were told that paddles were also $3.00 each. This is not what I was told on the phone twice. The employee helping us had a "tough luck deal with it" attitude. I asked for a manager who told us the same thing. No attempt was made by the staff to offer any sort of solution. I am not angry about the cost, but I am angry that I was told one thing on the phone, and another thing in person.
The rafts themselves are fantastic, durable and inflate much faster than expected (takes about 10 minutes per raft).
Extremely disappointed with the service. Went to pick up a snowboard last night and there was a bit of a line outside (nothing crazy). The staff was so stressed about just getting through the line that they were basically non-functional when it came to getting people their gear. I tried on 1 pair of boots which I said was too big and was told that s the best you re going to get in a rental and there s a big line outside I need to get though. Regrettably, I didn t insist on trying another pair and now I m writing this sour review while descending in the gondola, because I can t board without boots. I ve been renting gear for 20 years and have had some equipment fit better than other, but I ve never encountered such poor customer service and have NEVER had gear so bad that I couldn t ski. What a waste of time and money.

I have been to Sprts Rent numerous times and have rented everything from skis to snow shoes to rafts. Every time I enter the store I am greeted by a smiling face and someone eager to help me. Not only is the staff knowledgeable about their equipment but they are also knowledgeable about the areas where their equipment is used - Kanaskis Country, ski hill conditions and river levels. They always let you know if there are any warnings or precautions to an area as well.
I would and have recommended Sports Rent to friends and family not only for the fast and efficient service but also for the prices and equipment condition. I have been to other rental shops and have had issues with equipment comfort and quality. Never once has this been an issue at Sports Rent. Definitely give them a call if you want a specialty item, like a standing paddle board, or raft rental on a busy beautiful day. They will accommodate you as best they can!
I visited this place to rent a snowboard for my brother in law and they were quite helpful. The price was much better than at the mountains and the snowboard was in great conditions for a beginner. They have all kinds of sports equipment and their staff is great. I would definitely recommend them.
Rented a Specialized Diverge for a 10 day cycling touring trip. Bike was in great condition, staff was friendly and helpful, and the price was very reasonable.

ZERO stars! Staff that helped me at the store was very condescending, the entire store has terrible communication, I was given multiple different prices when I called and when I arrived, I left without renting anything and feeling completely disappointed.
In the end, I m so glad I didn t rent anything thru them, I ended up going to UofC and received the best customer service! The staff there were so laid back and super helpful. It was such an easy transaction, booked, picked up, returned without any hassles, unlike SportsRent were it was a mess from the very beginning. Will definitely rent from UofC from now on!

Can't say enough positive things about Sports Rent! They are knowledgable, less expensive and more efficient than all the hills/mountains, and the gear is better quality. Renting the night before takes all the stress out of getting on the mountain first thing. We will continue to use Sports Rent time and again.
Rented here a number of times. If you want high end equipment they have a small but excellent selection of twin tips and all mountain skis. My son and I both rented and enjoyed the experience. Walked in and were done in 15 minutes.
This store is AMAZING - happened across this place on my way out of the city to go do some snowshoeing. The staff there were absolutely incredible to help me with putting on a set of snow baskets for my snowshoe poles. Such incredibly kind and generous staff. Thank you for the amazing work you do.

We contacted Sports Rent in the middle of the week inquiring about renting life jackets for the weekend. We were told that they were available once they open on a first come, first serve basis. When we arrived to try and rent life jackets we were then told that they were all booked ahead of time. I'm extremely disappointed in the poor communication and lack of willingness to help their customers when staff provided the incorrect information. I will not be looking to rent equipment from here in the future.
I spend a week or two in Calgary every year for family vacations, and have been renting bikes from these guys for many years now. They rent good mid-level bikes that are well maintained and reliable, and this makes it a lot easier than traveling with my own bike. This year they went beyond expectations. The bike that I was to pick up was not returned on time by the prior renter, and rather than that being my loss they comped me with a different bike (mtb instead of road) for a couple of days, and then swapped it for a better bike when one was available. At the end of the week they did not charge me for the upgraded bike I had ended up with compared to my planned rental. They always take the time to swap the bike over to my own peddles and saddle if I've brought them, and make sure I'm set with tubes or CO2 before I take it. I've had the occasional minor mechanical in prior years, and they are great about just fixing it quickly and getting me back out. Thanks guys, I always enjoy logging some good miles on the Calgary and Kananaskis roads and trails, and look forward to renting again next year. I recommend this shop without reservation.

Such a stupid non-refund policy, I reserve a boat 1 month a head of the pick up date, the park did not confirm my reservation so I cancel next day in the morning not even 24 hrs have pass, the guy just say ok is done, 3 days later a didn't see my money back in my credit card, so I call them and the manager argue that he mention that policy to me, which I never heard, and even if it is true, just for good customer service you will return the money 'cause your customer hasn't take anything from you, and for sure they didn't loose any another rent during my less than 24 hrs reservation, it looks like their policy is to satisfy their pockets more than satisfy their customers; Anyway good job disappointing me, this the first time I try to rent something and the last.
Great deals and great times are to be had if you go to Sports Rent! My wife and I came here a lot this past summer to rent kayaks and we were never disappointed.
Update: Owner contacted me right away and addressed this issue. I appreciate their professionalism in following up with their staff. And yes, I believe in second chances.

Emailed them in advance to reserve rope rental and even paid in advance. Went to pick up and guy tells us they don't have it for whatever reason. No apology nor attempt to help us whatsoever. We had to run around the city looking for one. Very disappointed.

Am still feeling annoyed and now disappointed... I received a response to my recent review re: Sports Rent's online boots only rental deception and poor customer service. I'm glad they will remove their xc boots only rental off their website, but it's too little too late. From their response this is an acknowledged ongoing problem and this policy should have been removed from their website some time ago. To make me pay for a full package when I only required boot rentals is NOT good customer service especially when they were over-sized men's boots that did not fit, not women's as needed. I highly recommend renting elsewhere.

Stay away. Seems reasonably priced for ski rentals but will charge high fees upon return for a tune up! This was a 5 day ski rental. No damage except some minor scratches. Nobody else would do this. Don't bother with this place. Also did not have the skis they promised - just a crappier model for the same price when you show up. Better to rent from a true ski shop or hill even if a bit more expensive up front.
This reminds me of when a friend rented a mountain bike here a few years back. They wanted to charge $200 for a scratch. Yes, a scratch on a mountain bike! Amazing.
Needed a ski helmet; walked in and out in less than 4 min total time!! 12 bucks for one day- done!! There is clear attempt to run this business efficiently and with care and compassion. Could not asked for better service . 100% chance of repeating this visit to them. Covid precautions done v well. Yes I will support you!!
I was there on Sunday, March 4th with my uncle. We rented a full setup for myself as this was my first time ever skiing. The store was pretty busy at the time, and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable, the speed of service was outstanding and the price point for renting gear is very reasonable. It's great to have a local business so close to COP that can provide such good service. Hats off to the Sports Rent team!

Pretty horrible experience. Rented two mountain bikes today, seats were unbelievably uncomfortable (with no option of any other seat, or gender specific seats), pants were ripped up from continuoisly getting caught in the cover over the chain and to top it off the kid who set up the bikes on the bike rack didnt do it right, had to stop on the side of the high way to resecure the bikes. Upon returning the bikes and letting them know of out experience, all I got was "oh, sorry about that" . Not very helpful at all

2 feet of snow in the Lake Louise area, but apparently wont rent waxless x-country skis until mid-December due to 'maybe' not enough snow in the mountains and risk of damage to waxless skis.

Went in on the Dec 20th to rent skates for my 9 year old daughter she came with me. I also brought 3 pairs with me to get sharpen. She picked out the skates she wanted to rent. Because I only had a visa debit card they wouldn't rent them to me. I even offered to put whatever they wanted down as a down payment and they could have kept the other pairs I took in to be sharpen as collateral. But no the guy wouldn't help me. So I had to listen to my daughter cry all the way home. Needless to say I went and bought her a pair at Wal-Mart.. and they never got to sharpen the other 3 pairs either I will take my business somewhere else and I recommend everyone else do the same.... their not fit to talk about.. Damn skates is only worth $50 anyway I would have put $1000 as a down payment but they wouldn't even take that...
Be aware that "Store Policy" is to charge full pop, even if equipment is returned early due to illness. No consideration for special situations...Sunshine ski resort happily gave us a credit for our ski passes when two people suddenly got ill and had to leave the hill after only one run. I will rent at the hill from now on.
The edges on the skis were nice and sharp. I did a few runs at Sunshine with some hidden ice and the edges held.

My girlfriend & I went for our cross country ski lesson and rented great equipment for the both of us.
At the end of a great day my friend broke her arm, we were in the hospital in Canmore and were unable to return at the agreed time.

Maybe one of the best places in the city to rent equipment. Location proximity to Bowness Park make it perfect for Bow River rafting.

Took my Giant mountain bike for a tune up at the great price of $65. They did everything the pro bike shops would do. We have also rented a variety of equipment: snowboards boots, skis, skates and bikes and have been happy every time.
