I took my bike in for a preseason bike tune up and was surprised at their affordable pricing. They were able to tune up my bike quickly and everything worked great.

We've been going there for years, always great product and service!
We rented skates 2 pairs of skates. Skates were $12 for a day. The edges on the skates weren't the greatest. We wanted to rent hockey sticks but they were a bit pricey at $10. Overall, it was okay!
Went in with some used cross country skis and zero knowledge. The team behind the desk walked me through my skis and were very helpful for a beginner like myself. The other thing I found great was the low pressure setting really makes me want to go back. It turns out that my used skis were next to new so he suggested just a clean up and was very straight forward with me. Will definitely be recommending this location to anyone looking for rentals! Thank you again
Whos the hot kid in a toque tuning skis in the back damn
Equipment good, service bad.
Started off great - a friend and I rented a tandem for the day. The bike worked fine, though whether we worked well together is another story. Due a hiccup in our plans we were scheduled to arrive a little bit late. We tried calling as the store was closing, but there was no answer. We arrived at 8 minutes past close, and of course the store was closed and the employees gone. Since we couldn't transport the tandem, we had to leave it locked outside. I went first thing the next morning to return the keys. The clerk told me they had to cut the lock, due to safety concerns in the area. He seemed upset, so I explained when I called/arrived, and he then told me I was wrong and didn't do what I said I did, even though I have the call log on my phone. He said he stayed late for another rental (although I don't think anyone who has worked in retail would consider staying until 8:02 (his exact words) late, when the store closes at 8pm.)
Maybe he thought I was trying to weasel out of paying, but I just didn't want him to think I intended to return late or be a bad customer. Regardless, he was not interested in what I had to say.
Anyways, we were late and it was fair to pay for the lock. It was cheaper than paying for another day's rent. As I paid, I apologized and the clerk pretty much just scoffed at me. I'd like to rent the tandem again, but quite frankly I don't think I'm welcome there anymore. I'm not saying we weren't in the wrong, but the clerk was unnecessarily aggressive and I left feeling really awful.
A small change in attitude would make a world of difference. If the clerk had said " hey, we were closing up and didn't get your call. Next time call a bit earlier and we can work something out" instead of attacking me, I'd be back next week.
Sports Rent was the most affordable bike rental for our vacation in the Rockies. The staff was attentive and very accommodating. They even threw in a bike lock for free. I was a little concerned about the working condition of rental equipment, but the bikes operated well and didn't pose any issues for us. They even only charged us for 10 days although we had the equipment for 11 days.
Knowledgeable staff, courteous, and wide variety of stock.
Good price, good equipment and quick in and out place to rent downhill skis but staff can learn some better customer service
Had an issue with the first service done at Sports rent, but after taking it in to have them look at it again my bike is running smoothly at no extra cost. Great customer service guys!
Nearly four-decades of serving Calgary, these folks have everything from golf clubs to skidoos. Also really handy when you want to join your friends on the slopes but don't want to drag your antiquated broken gear out of the attic!
The board was okay. It was a little big but I didn t know my snowboard specs. If your going to rent a snowboard know what you like. Other than that the costumer service was awesome. I was in and out in minutes. Also they work really hard to make it up to people when they mess up and that is really valuable in my opinion
These guys are amazing! We rented a canoe for 4 days at their very reasonable rate. We were late on our way back from the mountains, didn't get back into town until after they closed. They let us bring it back the next day no extra charge, no hassle. We're definitely going to be returning customers!!
I rent rafts from here every summer. Great prices and awesome service. HIgh performance ski's are brand new too!
Excellent location for our canoe trip to Banff. Sports Rent provided all of the ratchet ties and foam spacers to secure the canoes to each vehicle and they are reasonably priced. The staff was very friendly and helpful and we will definitely rent from them again. They did forget to give us the emergency kits for the canoes, so we were worried about being stopped by park rangers while canoeing, but luckily we did not get stopped while we were canoeing. The staff was very apologetic and said they would have covered any fines if we incurred them on our trip. Everyone should know that all watercraft including canoes and rafts MUST stop at the mandatory watercraft checkpoint on highway 1 towards Banff. Cars who pass by can be photographed and fined. The canoes were great (spacious and sturdy). So happy this company exists. An overall great experience.
Very quick to pick up rentals. Friendly staff and there are always lots of staff on hand so you are never waiting too long. Fair priced equipment, much cheaper than renting at the ski hill.
They really went out of their way to help someone like me with big calves. Even though we exhausted all options, they never made me feel bad about myself or just give up on the first try. Great customer service!
Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, nice equipment, the bike I rented was almost new, handled well. Prices are reasonable, an excellent way to try something new or try before you buy.
I have always experienced prompt service from the staff. They are efficient and pleasant to deal with. Prices are reasonable (I love that 4pm rental be returned next day until 9pm) and they have a lot of inventory. They also did a fantastic job on my snowboard tune up!
Brian, the store owner charges me the full $100 deposit and accused me of going behind the counter to take a new bike instead of a rental last weekend. I used to be a happy customer renting from this store for years and having spent over $1500 in gear and rentals until last weekend when I asked to rent a mountain bike for 3 days. The staff technician brings out the bike and signs off the bike. The owner was not at the store at the time I rented out the bike. After I returned the bike the owner called me up and accused me that I took the bike behind the counter and I am being charged the full deposit for $100 for some scratches sustained during transportation. He said that the bike was tagged "for sale" and "new". There was no label to indicate either "for sale" or "new". After trying to settle the matter unsuccessfully with Brian over 3 phone calls, the owner wanted me to buy this mountain bike with the $100 discount off the wholesale price. I said I was in the market for a used bike but the purchase price for the bike was outside my price range. On principle of having been falsely accused of being in the wrong, I declined. I would like to continue to use their services but the owner was really rude this time. I'll spend my money elsewhere.
Update: the owner calls me up again after he saw this post. He said he'll keep the $50 and give me a $50 credit towards the purchase of a new bike of my choice.
Will never go back despite having dropped a thousand or more there over the years. Read your contract very carefully and be fully prepared to pay exorbitantly if you damage their gear. I don't mind paying for damage, but what they charged is ridiculous. $750.00 for a damaged ski edge. Plus the cost of the rental. Stay away!
There are many sporting options for rent here, basically anything you can think of its here. Tends to be on the lower quality end of the spectrum for sporting gear, but priced appropriately. Unfortunately I have not had the same customer service as others mentioned, I found the staff quite rude and we got charged for the entire day of rental, when we picked up a rental for the next day too early (at a time when clearly no one is going to rent the equipment for the day)
Rented skis from here. Friendly, Fast service. The place we go for family outings.
Helpful and good prices. We rent a raft for 55 dollars for 4 people and the paddles with the life jackets were extra for 3 dollars each. It is an amazing experience. U will pick up the raft and inflate it where ever u will go and they will give u like where the places to lunch ur raft. U will have it for a full day. We took it around 5 and we will give it back next day before 7 pm. U have to bring it back. U need veiachels one for the start point and the other for the end point or u will use a cab or an uber. No experience needed.
Edit:
We went back and had one more raft. Again, the staff were amazing. I did a mistake though that I want to mention it so other people would not do it. I was playing with my kids and tangled my self out of the raft, when I tried to pulled my self up I couldn't the current was so strong and I could reach the ground but it was so slippery. Thanks God my husband was close enough in other raft to pull me. I really don't encourage anyone trying to leave the raft and do that.
Winter or summer, they have all you need. I have come here many times and the service has always been consistent!
Highly recommended.
Great bikes and fair prices.
Staff was really nice and helpful.
I recently rented paddle boards from here. Had called ahead and was told it would be $40 and no need I make a booking as it was first come first serve. Show up to collect, and was charged $70 and he had to make sure they weren t booked already.....after explaining the phone call and details I was given, I was given grief and then pointed to the general area of where the gear was. No help, worst customer service. Don t rent here, University of Calgary is half the price and friendly people.
EDIT: The owner is correct in their response, however, why couldn t this just have been explained while I was there about all the different policies?
My mistake I guess...
Try again next time I suppose.
Thank you to management for following up.
I came from out of the country with my family and we all rented ski equipment for our vacation in the Rockies. My experience at Sports Rent was great!
Everyone there was helpful and knowledgeable and it was a lot cheaper than renting at the ski resort! They even have jackets and snowpants!
I would definitely recommend Sports Rent for anyone needing skis or snowboard equipment.
I rented from Sports Rent for the first time last week. They were incredibly efficient! We were in and out in under 15 minutes with snowshoes in hand. Great experience. Definitely planning to rent there again.
Best place to rent in Calgary! Excellent service and great products.
Previously reviewed with 2/5 stars, updating to 4/5 stars as they have now removed their xcountry ski boot rental rates from their website:
Original review:
I've come here on multiple occasions to rent cross-country skis. Staff are generally friendly and very efficient. Only giving two stars because of their policy to charge customers who are renting only cross-country boots, the full price for a cross-country ski set, because of their current low stock. If this is their policy, it should be clearly stated on the website, and not indicate that their rates for boot rentals are $10/day, and then charge the customer $25/day due to their own low shortage of stock in the store.
Highly Recommend. Great Service and friendly staff.
Deserves 5 stars for what it is, they are super helpful once in while you need to wait for a bit but overall prices are great and staff is knowledgeable.
Sooooo efficient both picking up and dropping off. Super organized place, same day pick up and drop off. Open early which was nice. Friendly staff. Great equipment. :)
Rented skis for 6 days for myself and son. We went skiing in Fernie and my son got injured on 2nd day. We only used skis for 2 of 6 days but had to pay for 6 days. Sports Rent would not give us a break. Lesson here is not to rent from Sports Rent if you intend to bring skis out of town.
Went to rent a mountain bike for a day. After i got there, i found out the shock absorbers were not working. I passed through the day with a soar ass. When i got back, i told them of this problem, and they gave me full refund. That is a good customer service.
Satisfied with service received. Enjoyed renting from these guys and will probably do so in the future. Equipment is brand new and the boat I rented was unexpectedly fast on the water.
Staff and management very nice people and were willing to go the extra mile to satisfy my every need. Thx Sports Rent!
