I have not had any bad experiences with the company so far. I went to the bank twice to make my payments and had no problems. My only concern is their interest rate, it's too high. Wish they change that.

Worst company ever! I had lost my job, my account got hacked and they told me they'd give me 90 days to get back on track. They repoed my car with no notice! I was able to reinstate it, but there was damage to the car and missing property! They refused to tow my car back and I had to pay for it! Then they repoed my car again without notice a second time after I sued them! What!? Because of them I lost the job I was going to get since my car is gone! Idk what to do! This company sucks! I can't afford to pay to get it back this time.

I am very unhappy with the service and support I received today. Poor customer service and very disrespectful rep. Requested a lead and still didnt get my situation resolve. I have had my account for 3 yrs with Gateway Lending and never had a problem. They were happy to help me and always resolve my problems. This was probably my 4th call in for my loan since I open the acct. After not getting no where today I am seriously thinking about moving my loan to another provider.

This is the most useless, unprofessional company I...

This is the most useless, unprofessional company I've ever dealt with. We have been trying to get this company to review a SIMPLE form letter Power of Attorney (POA) document for a MONTH now and they STILL haven't been able to do it. I've sent the same document to a large USA bank, a large USA Insurance company, and a couple of other financial institutions here in the United States and they have ALL reviewed AND APPROVED it almost immediately. This company is headquartered out of Spain. I guess if I had the Spanish version of a Power of Attorney they might be able to comprehend it enough to approve it? Terrible company. Don't deal with them. Stick to a company headquartered here in the United States.

I have ask if you could renegotiate this loan to a more reasonable refinancing, but no even though this loan is Direct Auto-Pay monthly.
No one should be paying higher than 15-20%

Santander consumer.usa these people are nothing but crooks and thieves, please do not do business with this company, they will steal ur money, I paid the balance of my car loan off on 2/18/18, now they are claiming they didn't receive 735.00 dollars, which I have my bank statement proving everything and they still claiming even with legitimate proof of payment! but yet they sent me letters that my account was paid in full, and a refund check of the overpay amount, they I paid$741.00 to them through western union, which is one of there payment options on there online website, which I have been paying every month for 7yrs, my car payment,they never had a problem receiving my car payments through there western union system before, up until now, when my loan was Paid-in-Full, now all of a sudden they claim they didn't receive the last payment, which is a lie, and I have all my legal proof, they charge u twice the amount for the car, then when u pay it off, they still try to run a scam on u, this company needs to be investigate by the federal government Asap! because they are Boldly trying to steal people's hard earn money! I will work visually to make sure this illegal action is Stop!!with the assistant of my Lawyer! REPEAT DON'T DO ANY KIND OF BUSINESS WITH THIS CROOKED COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I haven't had any issues with this company, but then again I don't really associate with them because I do everything online. I make my payments online, they send me a receipt, it's free the way I do it and haven't had any issues with passwords, payments, or anything. I don't like the interest rate and I think it's ridiculous, but that's why I am trying to pay off the car as quickly and as much as I can. Hoping to pay it off this year! Correction, PAID it off this September and got my title!

These people take advantage of people with fico scores under 700 they charge higher interest rates and do not allow you to apply extra payments to principle and never answer your questions or do as you ask them to...I would never recommend using this company for your lending needs whatsoever...they are currently under class action suite for their shady loan practices...can't wait to refinance and be done with this shady company

One of the worst company to finance the vehicle. I had my vehicle financed and I paid off my lease and they told me that that had sent my title and I waited for 18 days but didn t receive the title. So, I called customer service and after being on hold for about 40 minutes they say they will send another one again as regular mail. They didn t even feel sorry for making me wait this long and again trying to send a new title by choosing one of the cheapest mail services. Even to get the tracking number, I had to pay from my pocket as they don t want to compensate me for all this trouble. I would never finance with them even if I get 0% APR. I m done with this worst company with the worst customer service.

Edit: 8/4\18 I added everything in my transaction history and have paid over 6,000 dollars for my car and yet your website is showing that my balance has only gone down 2000 dollars. WHERE IS MY MONEY GOING YOU CROOKS? Why is my 14000ish note only down to 12000 after giving you SIX THOUSAND of my hard earned dollars.

Do not finance with these people. If a dealership says they're your only financing option, go to another dealership. Their interest is ridiculously high and accrues daily. My payment is 345 a month and 245 is going directly to them for interest while only 100 is going to my car (EDIT 8/2/18 after reviewing my detailed transactions it turns out about half of my payments allocated less than 75 to principal, with one being only 25 dollars!!!) Your credit may benefit from this but it is, in my opinion, not worth the extremely long contract or ridiculous fees. Their late fees also accrue daily rather than monthly, unlike other banks. Their customer service is also inconsistent. Sweet person answering the phone one day and a rude person the next.

I never received a letter that Gateway Lending was changed to Santander when I went to make a payment. I spoke to a couple of phone reps. and very difficult experience. I had to keep going back online till I finally figured out how to get an acct. and finally make a payment online. Took a good part of the morning on two days.

Below zero star 5- and that is too much for them If your car totaled they will westing your time to get the daily interest rate and customer service so poor always give wrong information for example I ask if the receive the check from my insurance I was calling every single day after 10 days when my insurance mail the check always the answer no sir we didn t received any thing then I said that is wired something is wrong she put me on hold and the back oh sorry we receive Ltd the check from 1 week ago but it isn t posted yet

I purchased my car through Enterprise Car rental/ Sales in Plano tx. So i have been with Santander Consumer USA for 6 years now i will tell you they have great customer service staff on board. The website is easy to use you can even leave messages for the customer service team to make notes on your account. Update your info with easy make changes and update your car insurance info as well. I will most defiantly keep them in mind if i ever decide to buy another vehicle in the future . Thanks for your great service

I submitted a request for an extension or movement of my payment because I would be late past my due date due to dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. I never received an approval or denial result in reference to the pandemic extension request but I received a lower credit score due to missing my payment. Fifteen days later, I made the payment. I had been told before by a Santander Consumer representative before that communication was very important so I tried to communicate with a rep prior to the due date but did not have anyone pick up from the automated phone service. For future references, you should make sure Santander Consumer does as they say because my credit score is lower due to no other Bill's but my car payment. This is one of two terrible experiences with Santander Consumer and I can't wait to pay this company off. I will not select this company again to finance my auto loan and do not recommend it to others. Buyers beware.

I had a vehicle loan with another bank that was purchased by Santander. I set up automatic payments through Santander s customer portal so I wouldn t have to worry about anything... all was well until my last payment was due. They canceled my automatic payment because the final payment was a different amount which ended up being $1.10 less than my normal monthly payment. They did not notify me of this change but insist that they did. All I received was the normal monthly email stating that my statement was ready to view... I m busy and the account is on autopilot, why do I need to log in and check my account? When I realized that something was amiss I called and paid the final payment PLUS interest and late fees! No one I have interacted with at Santander has been helpful or understanding. I can t imagine doing business this way. I assure you, I will not do any kind of business with Santander again. I will also discourage everyone I can from doing business with Santander.

I called on 02122020 & talked to Chauntez about how my overpayments would be applied to my account. She advised as long as they were full payments or more they would be applied to the next month but only for 2 months in the future. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and an asset to your company.

Trying to find out how to get into the payment option on the internet was quite cumberson, had to call for help, but the lady that helped me was wonderful and knowledgable, then I reviewed everything and found out that you have a Ford Explorer listed for me when I have a Ford Edge, after getting everything organized I made my first payment and I'm glad I was able too.

This place is a scam. Do your research, this place has done this to THOUSANDS of customers, just search up their lawsuits.

Ok. So after reading many of these reviews it is painfully obvious that most of those people rating a 1 and calling this company a bunch of crooks clearly do not understand "Simple Interest"! All banks and credit cards use this same method. It's you the consumer who is to blame! Its your lack of understanding that gets you in trouble. Dont buy a $30k car at 19% for 6 years! All of your payments mostly go to interest for the 1st 4 years. If you pay late it gets worse and worse. It's not the late fees that kill you it's the daily interest. And no they do not charge interest on late fees! You need to figure your daily interest. Here's how. P x R / 365. $30000 x .19 / 365 = $15.83 per day. So over your 1st 30 days you accrue $475 in interest if you wait 45 days to make your 1st paymnt you will have accrued over $700 in interest. So that first payment all goes to the company as an interest payment and not your principle balance. I read a post on here where a woman said she paid $6000 in payments and her balance only went down $2000. That's normal, that's how simple Interest works. Do some research. Simple interest is not simple and it's a killer if you dont understand what youre doing. Buyer beware. :) Peace...

I need my paid in full letter as I need to get this new auto loan but seems like y all can t process my last check sent out over a week ago. Can t do anything about it since y all are so slow to respond and act. But don t let it be me if I miss a payment because y all would be so far up my rear end trying to get it charged and covered. I m utterly frustrated and done with this company. Like come on how hard is it to process a check from last week.

It is Santander POLICY to withhold all funds for 4 days from a paycheck cashed using the mobile app. So while I have to work two 12 hour shifts in a factory, I can't use the money from my PAYCHECK so that I can eat. Santander customer service "can't" help make the funds available because it is "policy." Truth is they won't. Do not bank here, they are run by the foulest type of humans.

CST REP DERRICK 103308 was EXTREMELY impatient while dealing with me and my account. Every answer he gave began with a heavy sigh and irritable response. I really wanted to resolve my account and make a lump sum payment. He acted as if i didn t have the money. I was in mid sentence hoping to finally get this old account behind me when he hung up in my face. I m very disappointed in my experience today and unsure how this can get resolved in a timely, professional manner if all of the cst reps handle customers this way. Shame on management for allowing this behavior.

I have financed two vehicles with this company because I had no choice and needed a trustworthy vehicle that worked so I could get to work.
Just recently in the month of October, I made a double payment as instructed I could, back to back. Was told there would be no issue and if there was to call them and they can fix it. Their computer program switched the order of payment where the wrong amount was applied affecting my normal payment and principle payment. I noticed this issue when the transaction history was view-able. I called them immediately, informing them their system switched my payments. They can only submit one change a day! I had to call two days in a row to request them to swap the transaction distribution which I have proof on from saving receipts with time stamps and my bank showed proper time charges in the proper order, but Santander switched it. Nearly a month later, My payment never got redistributed the way it was suppose and THEY CHANGED MY NEXT DUE DATE TO THE FOLLOWING MONTH. I NEVER asked for my monthly due date to change, only for my payment to be redistributed correctly! I dont know why it was changed and still no explanation as to why it was even though I have asked for it to be put back the way it was! Santander also does not accept credit card payments in case anyone was wondering, even if it is to pay off a whole balance, they refuse it so they can continue to collect interest. I don't know what games this company plays, but it's messing with my principle payments and interest. This exact issue happened several times few years ago with another account I had with them. Unbelievable. If you can avoid this company do it! I hope to never have to deal with this nonsense again.

Bulldog Recovery Inc. refused to release my car ...

Bulldog Recovery Inc. refused to release my car after I paid all fees due before noon. My 2017 Kia Forte financed by Santander Consumer USA for being 2 months late on my payments. Santander USA hires American Recovery to ELECTRONICALLY send Bulldog Recovery Inc. notice that my 2017 Kia Forte can be released. I paid Santander around twelve noon . My appointment to pickup my vehicle from Bulldog Recovery Inc. in Covington, GA was 3:00. I arrived at Bulldog around 2:15. I was told there rule was if they don t receive a Release on any car by twelve noon, the car will not be released until the next business day. They said they were CLOSED on Monday. Thus, I would have to wait until Tuesday to get my car. What a hardship: I have missed 2 days of work, school, and my Mother missed one-half of a days work. I called Santander they said I would have to follow their rules after receiving my MONEY! I called American Recovery for the second time; and they said that they would expedite the Release and call Bulldog Recovery Inc. who clearly could release my car. They were open until 5:00. On the advice of American Recovery, I waited 30 minutes. It was around 3:15 and asked Crystal Carter, Owner of Bulldog Recovery Inc., if I could get my car after American Recovery assured me the Release was there. I was told NO; come back Monday. All parties involved Are discriminating against POOR AFRICAN-ANERICANS! There was NO reason that I should not have been given my car back in a timely manner after I PAID the debt. Bulldog, American Recovery, and Santander are illegally holding cars (probably Black Only) longer than necessary WITHOUT A WRITTEN POLICY just a rule for PEOPLE OF COLOR! All Parties are involved!

Well almost 2 years ago I had gotten approved for my first car loan which I thought was a blessing. And about a year and 3 months into it I had called to see if I could refinance my loan cause this 20%+ interest rate is killing me. I ve done the math, and with on time payments for the duration of the loan it breaks down to me still owing even after the term has ended. And as it turns out they DO NOT*** offer refinancing. So if you re a first time buyer look for another car loan that offers refinancing after a good set amount of time if you re doing monthly payments. I would ve never got the loan from this establishment if I had known they do not offer refinancing. But thankfully I just need to stay at my job for another 3 months to get approved at my bank for an auto loan. I ve made all my payments on time and think it s time to put myself in a better position on this loan. Thanks santander(I guess) for building my credit but no thank you. But let me just point out that of course I knew I was going to be put at a high interest rate cause i m a first time buyer but you should REWARD** the customer for putting money in your pocket by taking the loan and making on time payments. I ll be sure to tell my family, friends, children, grandchildren and strangers to avoid this place as a first time buyer.
I ll give 1 star for building my credit and another for the customer service. They answer pretty quick. So props to that. Thank you!

If zero star was an option that s what I d give them. Payments were taking out twice which over drafted an account. Contacted them about a refund, sent documentation proving so and was told to wait 3-5 business days. Never heard anything after almost a week so I CALLED THEM for someone to tell me they couldn t use the documents I sent. Mind you the checking account it s drafted from was frozen by the bank as well as the checking account until the issue is resolved. So after a week I resubmit new documents, call to verify they received them and was told 3-5 business days. 3 business days later I contact them and it s still under review with no update and was told I would hear something Monday (today-5th business day). Now they are telling me they ll have an answer for me Thursday (4 days later). When I asked how the person told me because 2 days didn t count because the finance department is only Monday -Friday. The 2 days they told me were a Wednesday and a Thursday so I informed them of that and their response was oh you are correct, I m sorry I was looking at the wrong month .???? This has been 2 weeks! They sure will take the money in a tea hurry but drag the wagon to give it back.. unprofessional, uneducated, and unethical!!! This business is a joke

Secondly payment are ALWAYS PAID ON TIME WITH any extra $70.00 over each month which payment was sent in on time.
Thirdly this is the WORST FINANCE COMPANY EVER!!!! I had a total lost account was paid in full with my ALLSTATE
INSURANCE (without using GAP INSURANCE)
unknowing that vehicle was going to be stolen 3 days before payment of 800.00 was sent in as always over the amount as always to bet interest rate of lowering payment each month. My insurance 15 day pay off was 19,884.45. Now Santander is stating that they only owe me 251.31 lol joke was informed we had 547.27 of interest........Really so with all that we will be receiving back on the phone an hour....and the out of the country rep getting mad with me because they can't SPEAK FREAKING ENGLISH and not an option for the customer to be transferred to an USA REP!!!!!!!!!! FIANCE COMPANY IS GARBAGE

was on hold for a while to have someone who doesn't speak english well keep putting me on hold for long periods of time to have him cancel my autopay but say he can't change it (I wanted to regularly pay more than my normal amount due - had always done this before santander bought out my car loan from gateway). He said I had to do it by myself online so I went online and for autopay it STILL won't let me change it more than the minimum. Called back and it hung up TWICE while waiting for customer service. Calling a third time right now. This company SUCKS.

Worse bank ever. Cheat you out of your property. Prevent vets family members from making payments then after your deployment is over you are told they either get all the money owed or lose the property. Then they proceeded to brake state laws on no knock order and you are prevented from getting your property and they then expect you to pay for the offset after they sell the property. Scum don t use or ever trust this company you will be ripped off on the long run.
