Nice but quite expensive eventually. You pay an entrance fee and then you pay if you want to feed the birds or do one of the many rides that of course kids wants to do... playground is free and fun for toddlers

I love this zoo, petting and feeding the deer in deer Forest is always a favorite, they have a great selection of animals it's clean and we'll kept. They only have one water fountain and it was a really hot day, they had a table with two five gallon water containers set up but they were empty, wish they would install more water fountains or keep up with more free public water. We packed our lunch/snacks and drinks (should have packed more water) the food there is really expensive.
Great time with my grandkids. Unfortunately we had a terrible encounter with an employee named Maria. Extremely rude, and very unfriendly. She verbally attacked another family we were with. Making all the kids very upset. This woman was unprofessional is every aspect. She made a good day very bad. Will not return because of her. Also had the 4 wheelers taking over the walkways. This makes anyone who has problems walking hard to start and stop on those hills. No common courtesy.
What a jewel! This privately-owned zoo is a wonderful find for families and anyone who loves to appreciate the beauty and wonder of our animal cousins. Little ones love the deer park, the petting zoo, and especially the train rides. Southwick's Zoo is a must-see!
Southwicks zoo is great! Not overly crowded, lots of animals, can feed deer everyday but can also feed sloths and giraffes if you plan ahead (see website).
Great place to spend a day with the family. Good variety of animals. There is the slight drawback of the zoo being built on hilly terrain. Wear good walking shoes.
I've been going to the Bronx zoo since I was a kid and this is no Bronx zoo. But it was big and clean and more interactive. A great place for a day with the family. And there's a really nice bar and restaurant on the premises. Great place!
I love Southwicks. Been going there since I was a kid. To those who think its too pricey ... consider for example what it costs to keep a family of giraffes alive and well in Mendon Massachusetts not to mention the other animals. Your ticket and food prices helps pay for their well being and upkeep.
Being new to the area, I didn't know what to expect. This zoo is perfect! If you have children that are 4 to 10, they will have a blast. It is nice for adults and babies, too with lots of shade, sprinklers, food choices, little rides and paths where you can push a stroller. The pace is comfortable. I am used to the zoo in DC and Baltimore, but this one is small with limited animals. You won't see exotic things like white tigers or beluga whales, but you'll see monkeys and kangaroos up pretty close. You can also feed and pet reindeer. They are all active and happy and the zoo is well kept. It is a great place for a family to spend the day but pack lunches because food is gonna cost you.
Great place for families to visit however, when we visited, they shut the rides and food services down early before 4pm, even though it's suppose to close at 5pm. If you pay for a package full day you should be able to use all the services the full amount of time. A lot of young folk work there and they seem pleasant enough. Camel rides shut down and no more elephants at the zoo there. Only two bird shows during the day no more monkey shows as well. Overall, good day out for families; they sanitize the rides and implement social distancing very well. Hand sanitizer is available everywhere too.
Enjoyed the zoo very much. The people were great and the animals looked healthy and well cared for. The children loved interacting with the animals. Be prepared though for alot of walking, and it is very hilly.
Has a great variety of animals but is a complete money trap. The place is extremely large with steep hills. Use caution for someone who has difficulty walking. Completely avoid for anyone in a manual wheelchair unless the person pushing is comfortable doing so up and down multiple arduous terrains.
This zoo is amazingly well kept! Staff is very knowledgeable of the animals that they have. enclosures were a nice size for them. A lot of things for children to do. The goats and deer were a huge hit as long with the giraffes. The two boys loved it and defiantly going back for a second time. A lot of animals were out for Mid-April. Staff were also excited to see us and tell the boys about the animals and how they would live in the wild. Can't wait to go back. A lot of walking but they have benches and picnic tables every where for you to sit and near the animals so you can watch them.
I had so much fun here at Southwick Zoo, I did not have a chance to explore everything the zoo has to offer. Definitely! getting up earlier to go, This is one of my best experiences in a lifetime, I will be back soon God willing!
Because went excellent trip the animals were awesome the building was nice the places were clean my only issue was is the food was too expensive $5 for a frozen Burger really
It is a big zoo with a wide variety of animals. They have a maze you can do. They have kiddie rides. They put on shows with the animals and they have a train and skyline ride. There is also a petting zoo!
The Zoo grew in the last years and offers even more! The new zip line is a killer! The best experience! So many animals to see, rides for kids and adults, a new great restaurant - you can spend the whole day there and it still will not be enough! Cant wait to come back!
This was by far one of the best zoo's I have ever been too.the price is good and they have military discount. The active duty member gets in free and discount for all dependents. Their is so many activities to do with the kids it's amazing. They have a walk in deer feeding area which is FREE and totally awesome for everyone. Their is a really bug restaurant there as well. We didnt eat there because we packed our lunch and ate at one of the picnic tables. Which I advise doing since it saves you money! The staff is super friendly and the animals seem happy and well takin care of. We will definitely be going back!
My wife and I visited the zoo for the first time today. We were very pleased with the layout, the size of the enclosures the animals were in and the fact it was so clean. All of the staff were pleasant too. We d highly recommend Southwick Zoo.
I really love this zoo. Such a great variety of animals! My favorite part is the deer forest. But there's so much more to see. They are handling the pandemic well also. You must wear a mask at all times, limited amount of people allowed in at once so it's not crowded and you feel safely distanced from people.
Love this zoo! Compared to Franklin Zoo, this one is away from Boston and easier to get to. Less overcrowded. Enjoy the deers and the train ride. Feels less confined than Franklin since Southwick is in a conservation area and not surrounded by a city.
It was a good time for the family. Took us about 3 hours to walk around the whole zoo and most of the animals were visible. Though the enclosures seem kind of small for some of the animals, they do seem well cared for as far as zoos go. Not a ton of food options, and I paid $5 for 2 corn dogs that were still frozen in the middle but i wasnt expecting gourmet fare from a zoo. There were lines for the parakeet exhibit, the petting zoo and the maze due to social distancing though other zoo visitors didnt seem too concerned about staying away from others There were a good amount of people in the park as the day went on.
There are a good amount of animals here. I would reccomend it over other small zoos like the Stone zoo. Children 2 and under are free. This is a shady zoo, with many trees, benches, and picnic tables. It is is a welcoming place for families. The bathrooms are a bit too small and some toilets and sinks were broken on the day we visited. There are some amusement rides and there is a good selection of food. There is ample parking but parking in the grass was a bit inconvenient. Overall it is worth the visit.
Great place for a day trip or only a couple of hours. Deer enclosure is always fun worth the trip. Giraffes are fun to see. The hyenas were our second favorite spot. One got up and was looking right at us. Resonable food prices for a zoo.
5 hours was not enough time to see everything! Buy your tickets online at least 45 minutes prior to get entry quicker. The combo tickets were a good choice for us, the skyline ride was very nice as was the train ride. Lots of animals, many more than I took pictures of. Food was reasonably priced.
This is the perfect sized zoo. Big enough to hold a huge range of animals, but not too big to make seeing everything impossible. Good places to eat that are well positioned around the park. Definitely kid friendly.
Wow! What great fun for the whole family! Lots of animals and their babies. Good Covid precautions with sanitizer and everyone had masks on. Clean and spaced out. Parking was free. We had a wonderful time.
Huge place, clean with plenty of spots to sit and rest. Helpful staff. Well worth the trip. Free parking & $2 off for AAA Members! Definitely recommend this zoo!
Absolutely stunning what they have achieved. Constant improvement in experiences for humans and quality of life for animals. Sadly expensive but they are a private zoo and need the money. Check your local library for free passes.
Did the drive through zoo experience with my kids and they loved it. Took about 50 mins to complete and it would of been faster but the guy infront of me stopped and talked with every employee. Down side is sometimes its hard to see some animals from the car but that's expected. It cost $60 bucks for the car load of people but they also gave a free admission for a future day worth $30. Will definitely do it again.
