Large zoo with lots of animals. They all look healthy. Info about each species are at each enclosure. The deer enclosure is a great place to spend a bunch of time. Very cool to be with them.
Fun place to visit, but a bit pricey. Many animals kept in generally good conditions (with a few exceptions, in my personal opinion...)
Excellent day out with the kids at a reasonable price. Friendly and caring staff, well kept facility with great animal care put first.
Took my 6 yr old niece. She loved it and was tired by the end. There's lots of walking so wear comfy supportive shoes. Tons of monkeys to see, lions, Tigers, Leopard, giraffes, zebras, etc. Interactive exhibits with deer and birds. There are small, but fun amusement rides for the kids also. Would definitely go again.
Large, well-shaded zoo with a variety of educational attractions located right here in Central Massachusetts. Limited carnival-style children's rides and playground as well. Certain activities (20 minute train ride, panning for gold, kids rides) cost extra, beyond general admission, although there's plenty to see and do without buying extras. Unlimited passes through their charity partner, Earth Inc, are well worth the cost if you have children and live nearby. The recent addition of a full service restaurant on-site (Gallifords) really elevated the experience and makes it easy to spend an entire day.
My little boy loves Southwick. We had a great time that he's still talking about days later. The park has a good vibe, the staff is friendly, the animals seem happy and are obviously well cared for. We'll absolutely be back.
Not a big zoo, but a good amount of animals to see. Easily walkable. Good day trip for the kiddos. Definitely reccomend.
Best zoo in new England large variety of animals a petting farm camel rides food great place for kids
Not a good experience. Big animals in small cages . they let the goats run around in a bigger enclosure than the cheetah.
I was there 2 months ago . the enclosures there are pathetic, look at them try to lie about it . the cheetah lived in a 15 by 10 bubble
Its not a bad place, the animals looked happy and with good care and wealth.
Best zoo ever. Large variety of happy animals. New great restaurant. Always baby animals there
My son and I love this place. Time and money well spent!
Very nice zoo, plenty animals, good place to take the family, I recommend it.
Good but costly if you are paying for whole family. In such scenario, better not choose.
Great for kids of all ages!! We love the new sloth exhibit! And of course the monkeys are always a favorite!
Enjoyed the day there . Staff was friendly and polite.
Excellent zoo, very clean only negative not good to feed family there foods little pricey
Have a great variety of animals and the walk through the deer forest is a great time with kids. Deer eat right out of your hands. Lunch at Gillford's is fantastic.
Awesome place lots to see. Many shady areas to get out of the sun and fun rides too.
Really big park with many attractions. I didn't get to go on the camel ride, but I got on the train ride that went along the park, and I was able to snap pics of the birds in the pond. Some of the animals get real close to the train. I enjoyed the bird show.
One of the best Zoo's in New England! Plan on a full day because there's lots to see and do. Make sure you have comfortable shoes because there's a lot of walking and it's all hills. The addition of Galiford's Restaurant was great. You can get a real meal and an adult beverage if you want more of a selection than the Snack Shacks offer. Make sure you get a combo ticket if you plan on using the Skyfari or Woodland Express Train, which I definitely recommend doing!
Love this place it gets better and better every year. We go every mothers day where it's half off for all mothers.. it's become a fabulous tradition for our family
Such a beautiful zoo! Very clean and well maintained. Also, a great variety of animals to see! We loved it.
Tons of animals and it's always clean and maintained! We've brought our son twice already this summer and can't wait to go again. The new restaurant is also great - lots of good food to choose from and fun drinks.
Awesome zoo with every major animal you can think of and they are doing a great job with policies and protecting everyone during COVID.
Great staff, animals are out and about not like lots of other places I have been and all you see are hiding animals, or should I say Dont see. Had a really great day.
Wonderful place to bring the family we hickey recommend this zoo to anyone on the area. They have a great new restaurant that the food is amazing but our waitress Chrissy was the best waitress we have ever had in our lives. She couldn't have been kinder she was filled with happiness, energy and great recommendations on the food and exhibits to visit after we ate
What a lovely zoo! There were lots of the exotic animals you hope to see, sloths, panthers, giraffes <3, zebras, lions, tigers (no bears :) and more! But I was surprised by how excited I was to see a pen of about 25 guinea pigs! They have a petting area, and even better is the chair lift so you can see the whole zoo. I especially loved the deer area, they will come right up to you! (and follow you around if you have food) Great place to bring kids, but honestly my boyfriend and I alone had a blast!
Very nice place. Very nice to my daughter at the zoo. Cute little rides for them too. Sad they don't have the elephant anymore.
a wonderful, family run zoo. many animals, a walking path that is mostly in the shade. discount tickets can be purchased ahead of time, parking is free and there are lots of "additional-fee" items; rides, maze, train ride and animal feed.
This zoo is very nice. It has an area where you can feed deer and birds. I am surprised how many different kinds of animal it has and all the signs are very informative. Staff are very friendly and knowledgeable.
Fall fair 2020. Great time, very COVID safe environment.
Amazing Zoo!!! It doesn't look very big and we thought we were lost on the way there, then it just pops right up. There are many times you can go in and interact with the animals and feed them. If you take your time you can spend a day there.
Great time with my grandchildren at the Southwick Zoo. Ticket prices are a bit high
This zoo is a fun spot to bring the kids for a day. Lots of things for them to do and a good range of animals. There are a lot of rules for the small kids as well as a few for the older ones. The sky ride is a neat perspective on seeing the animals. The Deer Forest is really neat and it's fun to be that close to the deer. The petting zoo with all the goats is my kids favorite. I do wish some of the animals had a little more space as some of the enclosures are a bit small. The food options in the park aren't the best unless you are willing to go to the restaurant attached to the park. The winter wonderland they do in the winter is a so-so experience. The train let's you see the animals that can be out in the winter but very breifly and you cant go see them on foot. Overall I would recommend this zoo for a fun family outing.
So many different animals and such a fun zoo with the background Safari music! Definitely worth the drive and the kids had so much fun!!
A fabulous zoo and a fabulous little town it is in! Very clean grounds and animals. You can certainly tell it's a family run business. A gem!
The variety of animals they have are wonderful! We loved all the monkeys! !
A super awesome experience for me and the family I loved it and will definitely return
Southwick, in my humble opinion, has become some what rundown looking, not very many animals, comparatively and a little pricey for what you get.
Their handicap services are also expensive. To rent a scooter is $35, coupled with admission it becomes unaffordable for some. In my opinion Roger Williams has far better prices and a better by far Zoo. Sorry Southwicks.
The rino was hiding and almost all the animals were adleep. The most active animals were the sloths. No joke , but good experience
Wow, one of the best zoos I've ever been. There are so many interactions with animals. We fed the goats, deer, and parakeet. It's so much fun!
My family absolutely loves going to Soutbwick's Zoo. If you plan on going multiple times during the season, I would highly suggest looking into an Earth membership, great benefits. (unlimited visits, member only nights). Great staff, very clean grounds.
Nice medium zoo. Lots of kid activities. A few big animals. Bring your own lunch.
Best zoo in New England in my opinion. High number of exhibits to see. Also a deer sanctuary and petting zoo where the deer, pigs, goats can eat right from your hands. Also enjoy the peacock that roams free. The only negative is the restaurant on the property. Multiple times I have tried to eat there and there is a wait even though half the tables are empty. While I understand staffing issues it's not worth everyone standing in the waiting area for 30 minutes while we could be sitting at a table at least.
Big fan of this big Zoo. They have animals that are not seen in surrounding zoos and, to my knowledge, are only missing elephants and foxes. My only complaint is that they have really diminished the amount of freedom that you have in the Deer Forest in recent years; something I do not blame them for, but rather the people who visit.
Amazing experience! First time going and just so much to see! It was really clean and staff was really nice. The chair lift was amazing, you got to go through the whole park and really take it all in! Will definitely be going back
We had a great day at Southwick's Zoo! The weather was perfect for the zoo. They were well set up for social distancing and had arrows to direct people. They have a great variety of animals from all over the world. A lot of the animal habitats have multiple viewing spots which helps people spread out.
Had a great server, food was very good. Very busy so it was pretty loud but everyone enjoyed all aspects of the meal. Surf & turf excellent.
Clean, good size for small children. More like a park than a zoo, which is great for the shade. Train ride worth it!
Fantastic zoo. Took my niece here for her first birthday and it was a blast for the whole family. You can walk around a forest with free roaming deer and have fun with goats. You can also gave interactions with giraffes, sloths, and rhinos and go on a zipline over the whole park for an extra fee. Apparently the sloths are very popular because they are already sold out for the season! They have a nice restaurant in the zoo and plenty of snack shacks, plus rides for the little ones! Definitely cant wait to go back
An amazing zoo with lots of animals. Good views at most of them as well
Where else can you go and pet deer and feed them while they're hanging out with you???
Had an awesome experience at southwick's zoo. Lots of animals and birds and their species to experience. Reptiles, birds, wild animals, fun zone for kids, food zones, ice cream zone, toy train, skyfari, zip lines and mazes. Spent almost 3 hours and enjoyed every minute of it. You can even spend 5-6 hours here with family and friends.
Staff was very nice and friendly.
Parking was free and ample. However, they say "Park at your own risk".
Pricey for what they have to offer, but its a nice for a small local zoo, the best part is the deer enclosure.
It is our favorite zoo to visit, privately owned and always getting better with so much to see and do with a dining selection from hot dogs to sit-down meals. We hope someday they will offer a paid behind the scenes tour of the zoo for us zoo geeks.
Love love love this place.... My favorite are the monkeys and feeding the deer!
Excellent time. Well kept and clean. Animals looked well cared for. Definitely coming back next year for Father's day.
Awesome. Place for kids. Friendly staff. Ton do to!
Wonderful zoo, constantly upgrading- highly recommended
Even with temporary protocol it was still such a perfect experience. Definitely of of the best and definitely the best run zoo
It's a bit hilly if you struggle with walking, but they have a good assortment of animals and exhibits. All of my grandchildren really enjoy coming here.
ADDITION
Just did the drive through here and it was outstanding. It was really well done and my granddaughters were so excited.
Great zoo with many animals but no map and its confusing on which way to go. I felt like i backtracked too many times
Always a great time. The animals always look like they are well taken care of and the staff is very friendly.
Very clean and animals looked well cared for. We enjoyed the sky ride very much. Wish we knew we could bring our own food and drinks.
We're had a wonderful experience. The zoo was kept very tidy. It was extremely hot so a lot of the animals were not active. We're going back next week. All in all it was a very enjoyable experience!
The deer park, to the tigers, the chimps and so much more! There is really something for everyone here at Southwick's. One of my favorite activities here was the skyfari, an amazing way to see the size of the whole zoo, while getting a unique view of the animals. I was impressed by the diverse animals we saw, which are not available at Roger Williams or Franklin zoo.
The new restaurant on site, Galliford s is very modern yet had the rustic New England vibe. We had lunch on the porch area over seeing the zoo. The food and service was perfect. Looking forward to coming back!
One of our favorite places to go! The kids love it!
Honestly this zoo was probably by far the best zoo I've been too. Also its very clean and the employees there are very friendly and kind. Animals were wide awake and not groggy looking like most at other zoo's, they seemed very happy and well tooken care of
Due to C19 the Zoo was converted to a drive through. They were very organized and the drive through tour was worth the drive Our family has resolved to return to visit Southwick's Zoo after the pandemic when we can more fully enjoy it
Relaxing way to spend the day outside with lots of shade and misters scattered here and there for a quick cool down.
I love this zoo! Always go there to see the baby goats! :-)
Hidden gem, been there two times so far and we don't live anywhere close by... the kids had a ball...highly recommend
