Clean grounds, animals are well cared for, staff is friendly and knowledgable, sloth encounter was unique and 100% of the proceeds go to conservation efforts to other sloths, the sloth encounter is new to the sloths, so the caretakers are going slow with the sloth encounter program for the animals, if you can do it and get in, I highly recommend it! Keep trying, if you don't get in the first time!

Southwick is a great zoo! Lots of different animals and activities for all ages.

The habitats for all the animals are open, spacious and look as comfortable as possible given the fact that the animals are captive.

I especially like the elk habitat - it's hundreds of acres which, I believe, makes Southwick one of the largest zoos in the country based on pure space. Very cool!

Husband is active military. So we didn't buy tickets online in order to obtain the discount. The girl at the ticket counter when we arrived was not nice or helpful. We were not talked to or even offered any additional services like the giraffe experience. We did not receive a map either. We had a terrible customer service experience.

Don't bother buying tickets ahead of time, they still make you wait in line with everyone else. The line will be long, expect to wait 30+ minutes with your small children. Probably best to find a place that seems prepared to have guests.

Really great way to spend an afternoon with a date or family/friends. Bring your own lunch/snacks etc.

I love this zoo!! I haven't been there in 20 years. Pete Brewer was in charge then. He is a very nice person and did a awesome job keeping the place clean and the animals healthy. Plan on taking my daughter and grandson when the pandemic is over. Looking foward to see how much it has grown. Hoping Pete is still around to see again.

Had a great time at this zoo, it was a very clean and friendly environment and the animals were active and seemed happy. I highly recommend the sky ride and the zip line over the lions enclosure, will be back for sure!

Bring quarters for the deer enclosure! The zoo is big enough to keep you busy with a little one and small enough that you can take your time with everything. I greatly dislike the to exit the zoo you are forced through the gift shop. Trying to navigate through with groups I often feel like I am inconveniencing people who do wish to shop.

Spectacular gem off the beaten path. The animals are treated well, and look both healthy and mentally occupied. Ticket prices are fair, considering the experience. The whole place is clean and well maintained, with no off smells or foul experiences.

In short, this is the best Zoo I've been to in my life, and strikes the perfect balance between entertainment for guests and respect for the animals in their care.

This is an awesome zoo. They make a awesome effort in keeping there animals happy and with enough room to move around. Good place for young kids to see animals they would only see in books.

Actually, my first time there and I was amazed. We h it there at 10 am when they opened and finally left at 4pm! We still didn't get to see all the animals. My kids loved the rides as well. Great way to finish off the day. The train ride was fun too. So many fun activities for the kids, they had a blast. We'll be back for sure!

This place has lots of fun new things for everyone to enjoy, zipline kind of ride, maze. They have lots of hoses around the park for you to stand under and get wet with to cool off, for free. Very friendly. Food and drinks are pricey. Plenty of parking. Takes about 3 hours to get through the whole park.

The Southwick's Zoo is AMAZING!!! The park is always clean as well as the animal enclosures. There are so many different animals and lots to see and do. All the animals are very happy and treated really well with beautiful enclosures and lots of enrichment. The staff does a great job! They are super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The pricing is very reasonable and it is totally worth it! This is the best zoo in New England! We highly recommend visiting because you will have a great time!

Southwick's is the best zoo ever! Best time of day is later in the afternoon. The animals are a little more active. The male lion is so dependable to let out amazing roars and show us his magnificence..We always see and experience something new with every visit. So many new babies this time of year (Aug).

We love it here. Each time we go we see something new and amazing We were able to catch the bird show recently and it was informative and interactive. We like going early afternoon and catching some of the feeding times. The zoo has had a few new babies born this year and I like that they show you when they were born and the status on the endangered species list. The goat petting area and deer forest are wonderful but remember to bring your quarters.

My kids love this zoo. It's just the right size for us. Love all they have to offer. We especially love the deer park. Bathrooms are in good locations and are clean. Just wish it wasn't so expensive to eat.

Zoo itself seems very nice and the animals seem well taken care of. The sunset seranade package is great! Zoo isn't overly crowded at dusk and most of the animals are still out. The entertainment was very enjoyable and the restaurant, while a bit pricey, has great food. Enjoy this big city attraction in the "little town of Mendon"!

Went here this year after not going for years..definitely alot more animals and loved the new maze and absolutely loved the new zip line..and always liked the skyline that goes around the entire zoo..also did do my first train ride through zoo which was nice..the entry price to zoo is reasonable and food prices are not too over priced..gift shops have nice array of things to buy but yes definitely could go down a little in the price of things..but overall had a great time whether with just friends, spouse or whole family..would absolutely recommend anyone to take a day off and spend at southwicks zoo..(I'm not keen on animals in cages or small non natural environments but my opinion will never matter on that but at least they are in a safe environment for people to enjoy)

Have been here for a couple of school fieldtrips. It's a nice zoo, spread out with lots to do. They have a place space, maze, an air ride. Chance to pet the goats, hold some birds and get close to deer.
Plenty of parking, restrooms and places to have a snack. Also a lot of nice trails to hike/bike around the outside of the zoo, with parking at the back of the lot.

I love this zoo, I've been going here since I was a kid. In 33 and just went back when visiting my family and it's even better than it used to be. It has a great variety of animals and I love the deer park where you can feed and pet the deer.

Great for our 2yr old. Bees and hornets this time of year are ridiculous though. They need to put more effort into repelling them especially in the childrens areas. Definitely carry your epi pen if you're allergic.

Love the drive through. There were many diverse and foreign animals. There were staff too presenting animal artifacts such as shells or horns. The staff and the people there were respectful and let you take your time at each stop while looking and taking photos. Everyone was social distancing and most were wearing masks.

We have been to many zoo's, big and small. And this place was quite a disappoinment. The map was more confusing than helpful. The exhibits were all overgrown and weeds were coming through the fences. They also didn't replicate the natural habitat of the animals and were awfully small. The pathways were not paved. Hardly any hand sanitizer stations. There were porta potty's all over the place!!Just a waste of time and money.

Love this place , Each animal has a decent size area to roam , they have a huge variety of animals that u do not see in most Zoos and the Deer area where u can feed them is the best .

Recommend for weekend getaways!! Brought my family there and had a fantastic day full of encounters with animals! The deers are way too cute than I thought, and you can enter the playground and pet them!

There's a lot of different animals to observe in various settings.
There's availability of food and drinks in case you didn't pack anything from home.
Of course, there's some shopping for stuffed animals, toys, clothing, etc.
The price of entry into the zoo is a little bit pricey especially if it's an entire family, but it is a worthwhile adventure.
They also have a train ride that goes around a section of the zoo.

Best zoo in all of New England. Clean, well maintained, and the animals are healthy. You can SEE the animals which is a delight. The new additions and new reptile room is beautiful. Baby goats are always a crowd pleaser. The zoo is MASSIVE so take your time and enjoy your day.

"Recently" renovated zoo. Beautiful grounds with one of the largest collections in the New England area. Food options on the grounds are limited. Good for a quick snack, Would recommend grabbing a real meal elsewhere.

This place was pretty awesome . I've never been here before figured I'd stop by with my baby parking is huge and the zoo is huge so if you plan on stoping by you would have to plan an entire day for it oh and bring cash and quarters to feed the animals . Camel ride was $7 . only loop around once was a little disappointed that considering I paid $21 for 3 ppl just to loop around once had I known I wouldn't have done it . Food sticks to feed the birds are $1 and you'll have to bring quarters to feed the deers and lamb . All cash
