This place is amazing. My husband got pickpocketed by a deer in the deer exhibit. I got climbed by goats. All in all, an awesome visit.
This place is amazing. My husband got pickpocketed by a deer in the deer exhibit. I got climbed by goats. All in all, an awesome visit.
Been coming here since I was a kid and love it more and more every time.
Love this zoo! The park with the deer is such a cool and lovely thing. My favourite is the Tapir :)
Best zoo in Massachusetts. Set in the woods, so it's easy to underestimate its size. Before you get sticker shock at the admissions price, just remember: Housing this many exotic animals under proper, humane, and comfortable conditions ain't cheap! The animals are in excellent condition and are sure to captivate kiddos and grown-ups alike.
Very secured, well marked and instructed, hand sanitizer stations, employees very courteous
Had a great day with my hunny. All the wild animals were awesome. The tigers were a lil hot and sleepy.
Great place. I think this is one of the better zoos in the area. Totally different experience than other zoos.
It was a great day, great weather, lots of baby animals, information about their native country, rest areas, spray stations gentle enough to walk through without getting soaked, picnic tables, a great petting zoo and more.
Had attended an event. At the banquet facility next to the grounds. A scenic walking area to set the mood.
I didnt care to see the animal exhibit. I was attending a wedding. The landscape, those walking areas especially around sunset complimented the days events. Very memorable.
My favorite zoo of all time! When i arrived it was raining and i was afraid that i want going to be able to get in but i did! The zookeepers keep the cages pretty clean and the animals have plenty of room to run around and such. My favorite part was walking through the deer forest. Definitely bring quarters with you so you can get corn to feed the deer!
Very nice place hard to find being from Ct but well worth it when u see all the different stuff they have for the kids and kids at heart
Great place, workers very friendly. Animals galore . spent 3 hrs their
Expensive place to visit just to get in with a family of 4 $100 and this does not include any rides or food. If you live in RI Roger Williams Zoo no rides but plenty of animals and stuff to do. Family of 4 under $100 bucks easy. Place is out of control $$ wise.
We went today and took our 18 month old and 4 month old granddaughters. The younger one was happy just looking at everything and everybody. The 18 month old was thrilled to see the animals. Her favorite part was feeding the deer. They were very gentle. She had no fear and put her hand right into their mouths. She enjoyed the camel ride, too, which was very reasonable at $7 per person. Southwick's has a map they give you so that everyone is going in the same direction, and they have staggered entry times. Everyone over 2 yrs has to wear a mask. They spray your hands before you go in and there is sanitizer stations everywhere. There are a lot of baby animals right now, so it was extra fun, and safe.
A pretty huge zoo to be quite honest. They have an enormous variety of animals and also have a pretty big size of different monkeys. My daughter's favorite zoo hands down for that reason. Can easily spend an entire day here.
Amazing family experience! We went in the rain and it was still a great time. If the weather is not great just bring a Pancho. The planning online was a smooth experience and the restaurant at the zoo was amazing as well! What a great time!
Doing a Christmas & winter wonderland lighted drive thru. Tickets on line & reservation time, also walking tour.
We went on a day when the weather was supposed to be crappy. It had rained earlier on but it was fine while we were there. Most of the rides were closed and some of the animals weren't in their enclosures. It's a nice zoo. They also gave us passes to come back. We haven't been though because it's more than an hour drive for us.
Good variety of animals, great for little kids, 100% family friendly
My grandchildren love the animals and of course the snacks. Too bad the rides weren't open yet.
So much fun and they have a new restaurant since last time I was there and it was so good
This is the BEST ZOO EVER!!!
So clean plenty of staff and lots to choose snacks and lunch during peak hours and the animals are well cared for and clean, I go every year and wish I lived closer for a year round pass..just go!!
My wife and I last came her about 20 years ago when our son was little. It was a pretty good zoo then and is a excellent one now. Supposedly the largest in New England, it's a great way to spend the day and the restaurants on site, while a bit pricey have good food. A great way to enjoy the day.
We enjoyed the evening Winter Wonderland drive-thru experience. The zoo offered seasonal tracks that enhanced the various themes we encountered in our drive. There were live actors in costume in certain exhibits. We did NOT participate in the Santa's Village portion which sounded fun, but would be a higher risk for contacting the virus. This event was a lovely way to support the zoo, make memories and celebrate the season without risk of exposure to COVID (if you just do the drive through portion).
Because of Covid most rides r shut down but you can ride the train, Tram, and zip line. It's not that crowded but I like it that way. You have to make reservations.
Well maintained zoo. There are several food stands and an indoor restaurant. Feeding the goats is really fun for all
Did the Rhino encounter totally worth it. Nothing like it. Being up close with these majestic beasts was glorious. Only downside is the zoo itself is way to hilly but that's out of there control. I would totally recommend going and doing any of their encounter programs.
Horrible experience I would have given zero stars if I could have. You have to buy a ticket online for a specific date and time to prevent over crowding; however, the zoo is beyond packed. The zoo was actually more packed than it was last year at this time when I went. They say you have to wear masks but there s so many people not following the rules and no one enforcing the rules. They say to stay 6 feet apart and people are on top of each other. Staff should be all over the park to enforce this rule. There should be markings on the ground to make people stand 6 feet apart and there should be arrows on the ground and everywhere to go in one direction to prevent crowding in areas. I wasted both time and money. I had to leave, because I didn t feel me and my family s health was being protected.
It's really nice little expensive very nice they also going to have a New Year's party
Place is amazing..the deer forest is an amazing experience for kids
This is the best zoo in New England. The highlight was the 15 minute skyride through the park. As of 7/10/16 the price for the skyride is $6 ea. Enjoy
If you like the zoo the place is clean and well maintained.
Fantastic zoo!! Loved it definitely plan to go there again.
My favorite Zoo by far. much better than Roger Williams.shady and cooler for sure!
Hometown atmosphere. Alot for kids and adults to enjoy!
In love with the tigers. My granddaughter was so excited to feed parakeets.
Nice small zoo with awesome gondola that goes over the zoo. Great option to Roger Williams Park zoo. Decent on site dining facility and also cheaper for court options. Again great option to Roger Williams but much smaller in scale.
This is my favorite zoo. I have been going to this zoo for over 30 years. When we come to visit from Florida my children have enjoyed all the animals. Years ago you could feed the animals and I fell in love with the giraffes. Todat they are still the most fascinating animals. The changes that has been made over the years makes the zoo even better.
It's very nice here. Many animals. The paths are very shady. The deer forest us especially lovely. Conservation is a driving force in all animal shows and interactions. We would definitely visit again.
One of the best zoos in New England and ones I have visited. Kids loved it
We visited Southwick Zoo on my girlfriends birthday weekend. I have to say we had a great time. The price point was very reasonable for almost 5 hours of entertainment and plenty to see and do. We were amazed with the amount of primates and big animals this place had on exhibit and how clean the establishment was. We particularly enjoyed the deer forest which is something fun and unique to do. This place is a must do.
Always a nice visit during their Halloween event! The weather was perfect for a zoo day. The kiddo had plenty of fun and loved the cockatiels/parakeets. I'll always rate this place 5 stars!!
Could quite possibly be the best zoo in New England. The deer petting area is amazing. So much to see and a large portion of the park can be enjoyed under a tree canopy. Great to visit even on those hot days.
Went to the Winter Wonderland and it more like anti climactic and anti christ.
Pros: train driver slamming on the breaks signaling our much awaited exit, finding the exit , taking a left out of the parking lot.
Cons: Paying 40$ to pet goats
Not recommended for people with children or without children
This was my third time of coming here and I will come again. I had some much fun.
Great place for kids, small enough to enjoy for a few hours. Very shady on the paths.
Great local zoo. Well maintained , updated natural habits for the animals. Habit designs allows to get up close to animals.
Awesome place to spend the day! The wild life area is great!
Big zoo with lots of animals to see, they have giraffes now and we went on a quiet Monday morning, only about 30 people there highly recommend doing that so the animals are more relaxed.
Good experience. Animals look happy. Lots of bees everywhere.
There was many different animals, it had good prices everything was clean and it was super fun!
Clean zoo environment with a lot of fun around. Rides for kids, birds feeding place, petting cages, and animals of all kind. I specially loved the reindeer forest with a train ride. The hours pass but you dont stop roaming and enjoying around.
Pretty good zoo. Feel like it has more to offer compared to other zoos near by, just feel like it's a little too expensive
Great day at the zoo for anyone. Variety of animals and attractions. Stops to eat and rest with tables along the routes. A feed the deer field (our favorite part of zoo)!
The animal attraction I am not fond of and in my opinion think they should get rid of, is the camel "ride".
The animals should not have to carry kids around all day, they're fun to learn about by looking and watching - in what should be closest to its natural habitat.
The animals look EXTREMELY comfortable, big enclosures with tons of toys. The Zipline is a experience everyone should try at least once, its all most surreal to be over a enclosure. We still go every year.
great day of fun activities and animals. There is plenty of shade, water, and things to do. The parking situation is a little difficult though and I wish it was more organized.
Wonderful time so many animals ,activities definitely coming back again
Clean facility, tons of activities for children, professional staff
Many animals in a compact area. Easy to walk around. Worth a day trip.
This place was ok, bit not great. They were going through some renovations so we couldn't see most of the animals. The food was passable and the kids rides were unappealing. But my son enjoyed what little animals were available, so I'll give it three stars.
Had an amazing time. The staff is super friendly and the whole zoo is so clean. No trash laying around. Highly recommend going. Hand feeding the deer was so much fun.
Nice zoo with a great opportunity to see animals a lot closer than you would at larger zoo's
This zoo is AMAZING!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!! They have all types af animals!! Giraffes flamingos crocidiles moneys you name it they have it!! Social distancing is good! You have to wear masks! Which is good!! They have water misters if you get hot! Food and gift shops too!! I would ABSOLUTELY GO AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN!! Kids will have plenty of fun!!
Well it would have been a great day to go exploring everyone raves about this zoo and it was buy one get one tickets, but unforuntly my lo decided she was to tired at the enterence after the 40min drive so we didnt make it inside try again another day lol
Best zoo ever, so fun! Some of the newer exhibits are smaller than they should be so I removed a star, but otherwise all the animals are happy and healthy, and the staff is friendly. Wonderful place!
Great zoo! A big variety of animals to view and lots of interactive areas
Can't say enough good things about the people that run Southwick's and Galliford's Restaurant. I had my wedding reception there and was a little nervous as it was pretty different from your typical reception. When we arrived, the reception staff was incredible and did not miss a beat. The food was phenomenal and the bartender was fast and made great drinks. The Southwick's zoo staff let us feed and pet the deer up close after hours and was exceptionally knowledgeable about anything we asked. Big shout out to Belinda the planner at Southwicks for walking us through everything. Loved that place and highly recommend to anyone!
