My husband was seen in the- ER two days in a row. Everyone from the first person to check us in to the entire ER staff was friendly, professional and knew their jobs well. We have never been treated any better anywhere else. We recommend this facility to anyone. Dr
Westenbarger is one of the best ER physicians we've ever had the pleasure of being treated by. Gordon and Linda

My finance and i went there three times within the same pregnancy. First time we was told she was having a threatened miscarriage. The second time we was told it was an incomplete miscarriage. Due to the holidays the doctors office was closed so the obgyn told her to go to South Georgia due to slight pain. The this time we went we was told it's an unsuccessful miscarriage and that the baby hasn't grown nor has a heart beat. Long story short the holidays passed the doctor office is opened our baby heart beat is strong and the baby has grown and we are having a healthy baby. Never again would we go back to South Georgia

Recently had to go to Urgent Care after three days with the flu and even though I did not show any vitals of still having the flu ( I tested positive), Wayne, my nurse, gave me the best care and concern; the same as anyone else with any other illness. He explained why my vitals did not show the norm but my test was still positive. Definitely recommend Urgent Care!
Dr. Howard was awesome too! ;)

I hate South Georgia Medical Center. I went there because I was having pain in my feet as well as hands, throat and a few bumps and blisters. Long story short, I sat there for hours. When I finally got checked out they said I had Coxsackie virus( Hands, feet, and mouth virus) that I caught from my 6 year old daughter. She looked at my feet and hands, and gave me not one single med for pain. I got billed for $647. Then when I called to ask about the exspensive price they got a nasty lil attitude. I don't qualify for Medicaid and can't afford insurance, what do I look like paying something like that.

Hernia Surgery 8/11/2020: Dr. Retterbush and the surgery staff did an excellent job repairing my hernia. The procedure went smoothly. I don't remember any details as I was out "like a light". The SGMC Surgery Center was nice neat, clean and well staffed. Thank you to everyone involved!

I was there on February 2 because of a pain in my chest and the cost they would have for me, thank God it was not my heart, otherwise I think I would have died waiting, also in every waiting room it says that no matter what language you speak since the hospital has translators, that's a lie nobody spoke Spanish, in the end I didn't know what I had since they didn't know how to give me an explanation of what I had, but to send me a bill of 5,826 dollars if they have first place .

Would give a 0 if possible!! I waited 1 1/2 hour for a nurse to help me go to the bathroom after surgery!! This happened twice in 1 day!! I was treated worse than being in a Military prison - I will never go back to this hospital if I can go somewhere else!! It was the worst 5 days of my life!! James Why call - it won't make any difference!

I am so grateful to have Dr. OKane in our little town of Nashville. She is very professional, yet down to earth, so I can understand. She listens very well and spends the time with me instead of just rushing to get to next patient. She has empathy for my health issues and is just a very nice person. I appreciate that so much.. Theresa and Dawn are also very nice and helpful. Thank you all, especially when I was really sick with a migraine a few weeks ago. You all got me in right away and took care of me. It is so nice not to have to drive to Valdosta and to have such a wonderful doctor with a wonderful staff.

I have been an employee of SGMC for a little over ...

I have been an employee of SGMC for a little over 5years since my husband and I received military orders to South Georgia. Within those 5years not only have I had the pleasure to work with an incredible team, but I have had multiple experiences as a patient. My family visiting from out of town has had to utilize SGMC ER and Urgent Care. My daughter was born at SGMC (wonderful experience). I have seen the changes that the hospital has gone through over the years and I see the incredible impact SGMC is making in the community.
My reason for posting:
My 1year old daughter needed to be seen recently in the ER, and the care we received was incredible. The triage nurses were quick to assess my baby & treated us with great respect. The NP who cared for us had incredible bedside manner and eased my momma worries and I was able to sleep that night knowing my baby girl would be ok.
This past week I spent 2 1/2hrs in the ER waiting room, in my scrubs, in pain, while the ED waiting room was overflowing with patients. A sweet tech taking vital signs was incredibly kind to every patient she encountered. Triage nurses were prompt and thorough. I was taken back for imaging and was treated with such kindness by the radiology techs. Some would think that because I m an employee- I would be treated better than anyone else- but I wasn t. I had to wait my turn, spend my hours waiting, upset and in pain until a room was available. The ER was BUSY! When I finally got a room I was greeted with such warm hearts! The Nurse Manager or Charge nurse (I forget her title) was reassuring that I would receive excellent care. The PA and Dr. Were amazing! The Nurses were loving, had patience, and were attentive to all of my needs.
I m so proud of SGMC and I know that South Georgia is in good hands! Keep up the Great work ladies and gentlemen! THANK YOU for taking such great care of My Family while we were here!

Our experience at SGMC ER was a total nightmare. We checked in at 2pm for chest pains, elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate. He got to a room at 6pm and checked out around midnight with no relief. We only seen the MD once. We will be going to Southwell in Tifton from now on.

This was my second stay in ICU and both times I've gone home to acute anxiety and night terrors. From being tied down and having therapists slap my hands and face to having them put masks on which were way too larger having to pull them so tight that it cut into my face. One therapist was so against my sister bringing in my by-pap that he didn't bother to turn my oxygen after a treatment. And this is just the tip of the iceberg.I can't talk about it for long, I get the shakes.

The Nurses and Receptionist at the Wound Healing Center are the best! I've been going there on a weekly basis for the past 2 1/2 years (and for many months, multiple times per week), and have always been pleased with them. Needless to say, they've become like family to me.

I took my mom to the ER this morning @ 6:30 am by ...

I took my mom to the ER this morning @ 6:30 am by ambulance; she was having chills, fever, headache and severe aching and heaviness in her chest. They ran blood work and checked her urine and did an ultrasound of her stomach, and swabbed her for the flu. After the first 4 hours of being there the dr comes in and says that she tested negative to the flu but he said it could be a false neg; so he was gonna treat her for the flu. He also said that her white blood cell count was elevated and that she has bacteria in her urine meaning she has some kind of infection going on; due to the tenderness of her stomach this is when he decided to scan her stomach; so we had to wait an additional 2 hours then the nurse comes in and states they have to give her benedryl because shes allergic to the contrast they had to use. I'm glad that when the radiologist tech came in i asked a question about the allergy and she said the benedryl will help the itching; at that time i explained that she also has problems breathing and her throat swells. The tech said whoa let me check with the Dr cause that's more than benedryl can help; so after the Dr questioned me over and over about how bad the allergy is he finally decided to not use the contrast; the tech told me that had they went forward she could have coded right on the ct table. They did the ct scan without the contrast and it came back negative. Finally after 8 hours they discharge her with tamiflu and no antibiotics for the infection, and they wouldn't even help me get my mom to the wheelchair and in my truck; she was so weak and all the transport tech did was hold the wheelchair. I have used this hospital on numerous occasions for my mom and dad, but I have to say that their quality of care has declined tremendously. I wish we had another independent hospital in Valdosta, but we lost the only other hospital in Valdosta called Smith North view due to South Georgia Medical Center purchasing it. So now we have to deal with their low quality of care because we have nowhere else to go.

I would never recommend here. I spoke to the head of the hospital about what happened, and nothing came of it.
I had a panic attack and was unable to respond to then but could hear the nurses, the said they should intubate me, then they could " get me to talk." The nurse never had to apologize. While the hospital did, nothing came of it.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the doctor treated me poorly as well,

I was just transported to that hospital, and signed myself out. I had asked not to be transported in the first place, and left ill.
I'm searching for a better hospital.

This hospital is UNbelievable. My sister's boyfriend went in, with an infection, was given enough care to say he wasn't turned away- ended up needing to have his leg AMPUTATED because, he is diabetic and the infection wasn't taken seriously! Then he goes back in because he's having seizures. It was horrible - he had to be sedated, hooked up to machines, suffered trauma from the seizures. He can't function on his own now. And they sent him home with his borderline MR girlfriend! He can't walk, can't really talk. Where is the patient advocate?! Where is the assistance for this man, that clearly, is in DESPERATE need for it?! This is utter insanity. Listen. I've worked in health care for over 10 years. I've seen some pretty ridiculous stuff.. But, this?! This is pure neglect. Simply because he doesn't have insurance. Disgusting.

The nurses in Labor and Delivery are wonderful. Kerri, Lisa and Kayla made my stay as pleasurable as they could and were a pleasure to talk with. Not many people take time to say positive things on reviews but these ladies deserve a lot of positivity and praise for what they do every day. All three were kind, patient and so willing to help. Thank you for all of your hard work and sacrifices.

My elderly mother recently had a blackout at home,...

My elderly mother recently had a blackout at home, fell and injured herself. The staff at this facility was pleasant but lacking in attention and service. The wait, once she was placed in a room, was hours with no one checking in other than to wheel her to x ray, etc. When taking her to bathroom she was assisted to the bathroom then the nurse walked away. Blood pressure was very high and when asked for her medication, they said "we'll be right back with that", which meant 3 hours later, and being requested several times. Same for pain medication. When asked to speak with physician about new information to provide him, the response was "he'll be right in", which meant only at the time of discharge to give test results. I would rate quality of care and promptness of service very poor. I was very surprised about this because most insurance companies paying these facilities require a higher standard of service.

Yesterday my sister who has lupus and is already having kidney complications went to the ER at 11 am because she had been having chest pains all through the night. She had to sit in the waiting room for 10 almost 11 hours before being seen by an actual doctor and that was only done because our dad went up there and got them to take action. This is ridiculous. Something needs to be done because the people who work the ER seem to have a lack of humanity for the people who come in there suffering. It's pure laziness and disregard for human health and life that they show by leaving people out there that long. To be honest i hate to even give them one star for a review because they don't deserve any.

I have to have routine lab tests done due to a medical condition. I missed the walk in lab hours at the imagining center by just a few minutes and was directed to the main lab in the hospital. Ouida was the phlebotomist that took care of me. She was so caring and kind! I wish that she could take care of me each time I come! A huge shout out to her, please let her know how great she is. Her kindness, professionalism and all around goodness was certainly appreciated.

My husband and I have both been to the ER services...

My husband and I have both been to the ER services at SGMC and all four times we received excellent care. Your wait is based on severity...realize that when your sitting in the waiting room the ER units are bringing in accident victims thru the back doors. You are not privy to the amount of patients or their injuries/sickness so don't judge unless you know. I was a TIA victim so yes I got pushed in front of you because stroke victims have a three hour window of treatment before severe side effects happen. Also realize the ER's are overused by those without insurance and that SGMC is a non profit which means people abuse the ER so they don't have to pay.

I have used SGMC Urgent Care at the Smith Northview campus on many ocations for myself, my family, and my children. I get what I need and am back to my day in no time at all. Shorter times than my own doctors office!

My wife is 6 months pregnant and was severely vomited and having contractions as well so we took her to the hospital. She had a blood pressure of 86/54 and they said she was fine it was because she was short. She was is severe pain called the nurses 3 times in 3 hours before one actually came in to see her and nothing was done. They took her blood pressure again which it was 91/55 which is still very low and said it's no big deal. They told us nothing as far as what was going on and offer no information and the worst part was they never checked to see if this affected the baby, no monitors no ultrasound absolutely nothing. I'm not sure how this place is still in operation after all of these negative issues they having.

This hospital needs a serious overhaul of there ER department considering all the 1 star reviews .Smith northview was a way better hospital then SGMC. the nurse's are amazing and try to do the best they can. I received better care from the nurse's there then the Doctors who I feel pretend to help . The doctor I received help from pretty much treated me like I was lying about being in pain when I am,still in pain and can barley walk. The male nurse I had went out of his way to get info to help me and offered to let me stay after the doctor wanted to send me home when he could see i could not walk . I still can barley walk . When a nurse is doin a better and more caring job then the doctors on hand there is a serious problem.

I personally experienced why this hospital has a 1 star rating, If you have the option of going somewhere else, do it!

First: they had us waiting 3 and a half hours, and we ended up leaving and going to the school health center as soon as it opened to get treated instead. But i bet they wont waste anytime sending us a bill.

Second: There was this one damn nurse who was loud as hell and sooo unprofessional. She had a syringe filled with water and was squirting one of the other nurses in the waiting area in the emergency room making hella noise, screaming like some wild banchee, obviously not giving a damn about the sick people in the waiting room.

Never again am i going to that hospital, id rather wait for another medical center to open than to sit there and watch how unprofessional the staff was here and not get treated in a timely manner.

You may want to think twice before leaving your family member clothes, flowers, or anything else in this uncertain times we are in with their Covid "rules" and "procedures" they put in place. The table for patient belongings to be distributed is right next to the "front door you enter for say" and everyone can see patient names/ room numbers. My family member stuff sat there three hours.
ALSO it is not bagged, so much for Covid issues.
ALSO they are breeching HIPAA rules!! Never again. Non caring staff. Very rude.

Absolutely horrible medical center. My mother was recently sent here into the ER after suffering from a car crash. They "apparently" did scans to see if there was any major damage. Terrible experience! Took 5 hours. The last 3 or 4 was waiting on doctor and nurse to bring a sling and pain meds for my husband s injured shoulder. There were plenty of nurses bantering back and forth about their personal lives. It took me standing in front of the nurse to get her to acknowledge that we were even there. Very quick to take insurance card and billing information. If you can go elsewhere, do it!

There are no words to describe the outstanding care we have received at SGMC. The labor and delivery department especially my nurse Kristen. Manager Debbie and Teresa Johnson were amazing. Charge nurses Kathy and Julie, and lactation nurse Elizabeth do everything they can to make sure we have been at ease with this new chapter in our lives.
