Honestly, the staff works hard and so does the doctors. These reviews drive me crazy. The Emergency room is for emergencies . Half of the people who come in are there for minor things that can be treated by over-the-counter meds. The wait is longer because they have to actually treat and admit sick people, trauma patients, and then determine the symptoms of the people who have lied about having chest pains just to get seen quicker and get work excuses. The public should be more aware of their health and seek the proper care with primary care doctors and urgent care facilities. The staff is not the issue some people expect the unexpected. You will always have to wait because emergent cases will always go first. ERs having staffing issues, call-outs, and limited doctors to treat "all" the sick people of Valdosta. Taking it out on the staff does not make it any better ..and telling people they should shut down the only emergency room in Valdosta is Stupid!!!!!

Sha, Tina, Beth, Dr Michels, Jessie, and the entire ER staff from registration to nurses to lab to pharmacy, they all did a wonderful job taking care of my mom. They worked swiftly and earnestly to stabilize and treat her. You could tell each person that came in the room was concerned and cared about her. Thank you so much to this awesome team.

The nurses and staff were very rude and had bad attitudes in the emergency department. I honestly don t even understand why they would want to work in the medical field. They were real hateful and don t seem like the type of people who want to help others. The doctors were very nice though.

From the time you walk into the Pearlman Cancer Center until the time you leave, you are always greeted by the smiling faces of the staff. Yolanda is so familiar with her patients, she greets us by name. My registration gal Caitlin is always so comforting with her how are yous and beautiful smile. I cannot forget about all of my phenomenal nurses and lab techs who are always there and ready to answer any questions I may have. When you enter the Cancer Center you expect it to feel like another doctors office but in reality it feels like home. Thank you to the staff for all you do for your patients!

As an employee of the hospital my daughter whose 7 was the patient. From registration in outpatient to CT, treated her with a big smile and even made her laugh. My coworkers in CT fit her right in. Shout out to Montye Player for working in my spot at short notice for my babygirl to get seen by her doctor. Secondly shout out to Marshall Ingram my supervisor for scanning my daughter and even buying her chocolate for being a brave little girl. Team work truly makes the dream work!

South Georgia Medical Center has the most wonderful doctors, nurses and support staff. To receive expert care in such a warm, welcoming and professional environment makes SGMC really stand out as the best facility to meet one s medical needs. Dr. Shawn D. Vandemark, M.D. is an excellent and attentive surgeon who is an expert in his field. His primary nurse, Margie, makes you feel very at ease and cared for. In addition, the Practice Manager, Carol Ingram is incredibly helpful and polite in assisting you with any billing questions. She went out of her way to help me with a complicated bill and would call to keep me informed. The issue was resolved by her and I did not have to worry. A truly special experience being cared for by this superb team!

I went to my Drs. Office complaining of shortness of breath, which had been going on for some time. My doctor Russell told me he would fix me, after telling him of my breathing issues which had been going on for quite some time. I was given a breathing treatment in the office, feeling somewhat better but not really. Dr. Russell sent me to get a chest exam and blood work(Imaging Center) who were GREAT by the way! Dr. Russell told me he would call me with the results. I went home to try and finally get some sleep, when Dr. Russell called me within 45 minutes of reading my results and told me that I had congestive heart failure and he was calling SGMC TO ADMIT ME! THEY DID WITH A VERY PROFESSIONAL AND CARING ATTITUDE! From there on I received EXCELLENT HEALTH CARE! They saved my life and I m forever greatful and thankful to all the sincere cate I was given!

It was the worst hospital stay I have ever had in my entire 64 years of life! I will not return unless something changes with the way the hospital is being handled. What the hell has happened since my last visits in 2016? If it hadn t been for the great surgeon, Dr. Stephan is, I would have walked out the day of my surgery. It took me 9 hours and 27 mins just to get a glass of ice water and I was not NPO because I had lunch and dinner. I was given sweet tea with both meals and I can t drink sweet tea!

This shameful place called hospital needs to be cl...

This shameful place called hospital needs to be closed. First my dad fractured his femur. The ER doctor was arrogant and was going give him 2 mg of morphine for pain. Then my mom was treated here a few times also received horrible treatment. She was in the ER waiting to be seen stuck in a room with a guy coughing all over spiting in vomit bag no mask. Then stuck in a tiny room with a recliner chair no call Bell for the nurse. She went in with intense shoulder pain. Doctor only tapped on her shoulder didn't do any exam. Nurse came in gave her a shot of pain meds then off to x-ray. She didn't see either one until about an hour after her x-rays were back. She told them she couldn't take certain meds they didn't listen. My mom went to see a massage therapist and the the therapist said my mom's entire right side of the back of her right shoulder blade down around her neck and down her arm was swollen. How come this doctor didnt find this oh that's right she didn't do any exam. I am not happy with the treatment both my parents received in this shameful so called hospital. Something needs to be done especially with people like my mom who doesn't have insurance and my dad being treated horrible with insurance.

I recently was admitted to SGMC for the delivery o...

I recently was admitted to SGMC for the delivery of our daughter. While not everyone we encountered was the most pleasant, overall the two day stay was positive. In the course of 11 hours in L & D we had three nurses which seemed a bit much, but we were happy with the final nurse for she was a huge help and pleasure to have by my side.

We spent two nights in Postpartum where I received the care I needed and nothing more. The privacy they gave was wonderful. The nursing staff quietly checked on us from time to time and delivered the essentials needed.

The food service individual barged in the room very suddenly without warning or ensuring I was decent. I understand they have a job to do, but entering a patient room without warning or consent should not be practiced. The quality of food was quite poor, but I do understand the need for bland foods in hospitals.

The lactation consultant was not very helpful with explaining some of our breastfeeding needs. She was quick to assist but did not explain what or why she was doing what she was doing. The nursery staff helped us a lot with feeding, but we had to do our own research to understand latching difficulties.

I believe the best part of our stay at SGMC was the nursery personnel. Each individual was extremely kind, knowledgable, and willing to help out as much as needed. The neonatal provider did an excellent job at explaining what we needed to do for our baby; the nurse staff was always willing to help us out and greatly helped us with feeding.

Overall, our experience at SGMC was positive, although we had some complaints.

If I could give this place a negative star rating I would. The most disgusting display of customer service from the head of emergency room doctors I've ever experienced. No wonder the star rating on the web is so low. But I'm guessing the hospital doesn't even see this

If I could leave NO STAR that would be a better rate. Absolutely the most terrible hospital we have ever been to. They will get you in triage fast but leave you sitting there waiting for a room for hours and once you get in the back you wait there forever. Too slow when needing urgent attention. This hospital needs to get their sh** straight!

I was told I would get my Covid 19 test results the night of 09/04/2020 the day I took the test from the hospital on North Valdosta Road Smith Northview Hospital the test was to be sent to MYCHART SGMC ORG I have yet to receive the results.
That is the reason I do not like that hospital. I also was left sitting in the lobby for an hour before cray came to get me for my chest xray she said the girl that checked me in did not notify her that I was there.
Sorry hospital.

I'd like to thank our surgeon, Dr. James Davis, and the staff of floor 3 west (specifically nurses Sara, Mike, Tiffany, Chelsea; technicians Loretta and Jojo; Charge nurse Lynn, nursing student Eesha, and instructor Eva) for their excellent care of my husband when we were recently admitted to have his gallbladder removed. We were admitted through the ER Sunday, 2/9 and from the moment we walked in the door were treated with kindness and consideration. The ER staff was efficient in getting us triaged and into a room. The day was long but it helped greatly to have caring, approachable nurses to approach with questions/concerns. Our nursing care pre and post-op was exceptional. I appreciated the staff introducing the new nurses/ techs as they were going off duty. The staff was professional, knowledgeable, and caring. Dr. Davis took his time with us in the ER and after we admitted. He took time to answer our questions and explain, in detail, what to expect. Thank you for making my first experience with SGMC so positive.

A 2 is too good for this place. My grandchild (one year old) went to youth care today. When he was breathing his chest was going in instead of out. His sister was being treated for strep. The PA said it rarely occurs In children his age and did not check. She was seen by Dr Hogan's PA. He did not even look at his throat and gave him a breathing treatment. She said that she had a nebulizer at home for her other children. He said to give him that (no prescription for the baby). After leaving he continued to have the breathing problems. She decided to take to the hospital of Brooks County. He was given a chest xray a antibiotic shot, antibiotics to take home and the breathing treatments as well, due to having bronchitis and an extremely red throat, which is probably due to strep since his sister had it. What if she would have listened to the first PA..... ? Really SGMC really.

I recently had an admission at SGMC. I received the best care starting with EMS all the way to discharge. SGMC has been great to my family over the years. I can't ask for a better hospital. I am not sure why there is so much negativity other than those that abuse the ED and expect "to be seen quickly" for a sore throat or other minor illness that could be treated at an urgent care or doctor's office. It has been proven to me again and again, if you show up at any emergency room with a TRUE EMERGENCY, you are generally taken very good care of from the moment you walk in the door, and quickly. I think all the negative Nellies are the ones that use the ED as their PCP. JS

This is a horrible place to go to if you need emergency care. The nurses have horrible attitudes with the exception of one or two. The wait is ridiculous I understand that some people have non emergencies but not all people are lying when they tell you they are in pain. I hate that SGMC was able to buy Smith Northview because they're emergency room was great until the integration with SGMC. I hate this hospitals emergency room and they're process

Our daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Parramore, was born on February 10th, 2020 and we would like to say a very special thank you to the following individuals who we came to know and love: Dr. Culbreth, Mrs. Cathy Swilley, our labor and delivery nurses- Kristen, McKinsey, Aysia, Anna, and Nikkee, our post partum nurses- Laura and Amy, and our nursery nurses- Saralynn and Brianna. We had a wonderful experience and received the VERY BEST CARE. We are so greatful for these wonderful individuals who made our experience very special. May the Lord richly bless each one of these individuals.

Let me just say that SGMC ROCKS. Last week I had a Stress Test and a Heart Cath, which is stressful thinking something is wrong with your heart. From the moment I walked in, until discharge I was treated like family. It started with Registration, Transport,
X-Ray, Nuclear Med, Prep and Recovery and the Heart Cath Lab, each and every person was on their A Game. I was treated like family and I was informed along the whole process of everything to expect. Dr Griner and Dr Staton are exceptional at what they do and I knew that I was in good hands the entire time. During a stressful time in my life, I was at peace knowing that I had the best team taking care of me. And last but not least, thank you to all my family and friends for checking on me.

You guys absolutely suck and have always been the worst experience ever. Your hospital owner should be fired. It's plain and simple. My daughter whose 6 months old with a 102.6 temp shouldn't be waiting hours, while screaming only making things worse... I also shouldn't be correcting the nurse not to use an adult needle on an infant. If I had other options, I'd take them in a heartbeat. Worst hospital ever and they always make mistakes. Always. I with hardly any medical education, shouldn't be correcting your staff!!!

It is a blessing each time I visit the Pearlman Cancer Center. Yolanda always sets the tone of the visit with her beautiful smile and compassionate spirit. In the lobby, you encounter an atmosphere of hope and encouragement. Check-in is extremely easy and wait time is amazingly short. The lab features the best of the best phlebotomists - cheerful and pain-free! In the clinical area, the staff, nurses, NPs, and physicians are world-class and very supportive. Thank GOD, we are so blessed to have the Pearlman Center in our community.

Horrible ER. Go to Smith Northview Hospital. I know they share the same oversight but that is were the similarities end. Son was having breathing difficulties with chest pains and SGMC never even listened to his lungs but promptly sent us to the waiting room. After waiting 2.5 hours, with only one other person waiting, we flat out left and went to Smith Northview. We were seen within 10 minutes and treatment began 5 minutes later. This staff was very friendly and attentive. Between the two, definitely choose Smith Northview.

Do you guys even READ your reviews? TERRIBLE staff. I honestly believe this is some of the most unprofessional care I have ever received. Any visit had always been MORE than an hour to even get called back to the treatment area. Scheduling staff is a complete joke, you stay on hold for a minimum of 10 minutes almost every time. The list could literally go on forever. LOOK AROUND. People DIE because of the care they receive in this hospital! You guys literally only stay open because you re the only major hospital in the immediate area. I guarantee if you had another hospital near you, you would lose all your customers. I say customers instead of patients because that s all they are to you guys it seems. The owner of this establishment should be EMBARRASSED and so ashamed of themselves. Hopefully enough complaints to corporate will get this place shut down or investigated. Please do not go here if you don t have to.

If you are able drive to tift memorial they will treat you better then this hospital. My friend went there for 8 hours just to get help with a kidney stone that's rediculous. Also I have taken my toddler here when she had a high fever and cold and stayed 12 hours for them to give her nausea medicine. I could have stayed home and tried to break the fever myself for all they did they really need work on customer service and time management.

Absolutely horrible facility! I'm not sure if it's harder waiting in the waiting room 6 hours like we did with my husband cutting his leg open, and we were waiting for stiches, or getting in and waiting hours with none doing anything. My daughter had an accident and hit herself in the stomach. We got there at 1am and waited in a room until 4 until we finally got a cat scan. Then a doctor came in around 9am and told us that the radiologist said it looked normal, but there could still be issues? That we needed to drive ask the way to Gainesville for monitoring. Just watch out, these people are dishonest and will keep you there and bill the crap out of you. Also beware ladies, men doctors do bit like to be questioned. I had suspicions that the make doctor I questioned called social services on us and the police. It was an absolute nightmare with a one month old baby and bit sleeping for several nights in a row. A month later, after the insurance takes almost nothing of the bill we have to pay 6000 dollars for nothing. No doctor did anything. This hospital should be avoided at all costs!!!
