Worst hospital. Been sitting in er lobby for 3 hours. Finally called to the back to now be sitting in the hallway for an hour waiting with my sister so that she can get blood drawn. Still no room ready and the staff is walking around super lazy ..laughing ...not giving a damn about their jobs. I'm here with my sister simply because she couldn't bear the pain to only be here in worse pain still waiting ...smh. I hate this hospital and most of their staff. Dont waste time coming to south Georgia. Most don't have a sincere care about your needs and the wait time is horrible .

Very much satisfied with and have no complaints at all. Being a patient at Shands makes it hard to approve a hospital with high ratings but everything was fine and not all people will treat you the same but every single surgery and visit for me have been excellent thanks SGMC.
I have nothing but good things to say about SGMC Urgent Care at Outpatient Plaza. My husband, my child, and myself have been seen here and the staff is friendly and professional. It's easy to get in and out and the physicians are great. Will continue to utilize this great service.
I have high praise for the nurses. They are stretched between caring for six rooms of patients, but still somehow keep on top of calls for help. I must say, however, that since Cleanliness is next to Godliness...my room was cleaned upon arrival...but not for the next four or five days. I had an accident with my I.V., pulling it out when I tried to sit down on the very low toilet seat and, of course, my blood was everywhere! The nurse on duty cleaned it up as best she could, and my I.V. was restored immediately. If the people responsible for cleaning had done so, they would have cleaned the blood off the outside of the tub base, the toilet base, the base of the I.V. stand and the floor. Being in hospital is depressing enough without having to deal with that and only one bed change in the five days there, Ditto the ridiculous "gowns" that patients must wear. I asked my husband to bring me a pair of p.j.'s and my robe so I could walk each day as advised to do so. He did, but there was difficulty because of the Kovid-19 about getting my things to me. The nurses stepped up and began addressing the problem, solving it within an hour. They are VALUABLE for tending to patients and helping with problems. I was grateful to have them. Mrs. Barbara Clark, SGA 3 West, room 307. (8/13 to) 8/17
The nurses and techs in the cardiac ICU are the best or the best! Sam, Shelby, and Colby are wonderful nurses andI only wish I had written down all the names of the great techs, too. The the nurses and techs are personable, professional, knowledgable, and very helpful. I'm so appreciative of their great care!
Getting checked in was a breeze, and the people at the check in window were as some. They made you feel welcomed and comfortable. Thanks so much. Great customer service skills!!!
This time the service was most excellent. The doctor that I seen was truly awesome. The nurses were the greatest best friends in the world. They took care of me like they truly cared.
So far been waiting 2 hrs after they have been told repeatedly a lap band patient can not throw up. Well guess they really don't care of he throws up of not . Checked his vitial and was sent back to waiting room after telling them again he has to have some kind of meds to not get sick oh well guess they really have not improved at all
If I could have given 0 stars I would have. Pregnant daughter sitting in ER waiting room for hours while bleeding heavily. This will become legal issue if baby is lost.
I went in for chest pain and I'm currently 22 weeks pregnant and while I were in there I asked if I could get something to eat and got no response when I called the nurse again they said after my results. After the doctor came in and told me that it was just muscle strain and I then asked about something to eat. He said they didn't tell me that you were pregnant but I'll take care of that right away. After I kept seeing nurses walking back and fourth with no food I stopped one of them and asked her can I get something to eat because I've been there for six hours and the doctor cleared me to get something to eat. She told I will see what they have for you to eat but when she came back she was empty handed without any food I waited 15 minutes and called for the nurse about my food and she said we will be right in she came in 10 minutes after that and said here are your discharge paper's I asked her about my food and she said well you are discharged and you can get your own food. I'm never going back to this hospital again.
Hospital Review I had surgery on June 26th the surgeon was outstanding. I had a abdominalplasty and Dr Shaun Vandermark was the best but the Hospital is horrible. Even though you are prescribed pain meds every 2 hours for one and 4 hrs for the other they do not give it to you or check on you to see if you need it. When you ask for it they take about and hour beyond your scheduled dose to give it to you. God forbid that you fall asleep because you will get nothing until you wake up in pain sip bad you can hardly stand it and then it takes an hour for someone to show up with the meds. Not to mention that when you do ask for your pain meds they are on average 45 min to an hour late bringing it. This causes you to get behind on your pain meds allowing the pain to get ahead and it s like your trying to play catch-up. One of the night nurses had the audacity to snap her neck at me when I pointed out that I had ask for the pain medication over an hour before she showed up. Needless to say I gave her a mouth full on what it meant to be a caregiver as well as if she didn't want to do the job any longer she needed to find a new profession.
If your having any procedure that gives the option to go home the same day your better off to go home and take the prescription meds your sent home with so you can get them timely. If there was a rating less than one star for the hospital I would give it.
Professional caring staff. Recommend a more private setting for colonoscopy. Smith Northview setting where my husband had his colonoscopy 3 weeks ago allowed privacy.
My husband had tests done at South Georgia Medical Center on 12/18/2015. I went back & forth with the business office to ensure this bill was paid. I was told that they were having trouble with their computer service in getting the correct numbers entered. This went on for several months. At long last they got the correct info input. My insurance paid and we paid up front what we were told was our share to pay. TODAY (08/02/2017) we get a statement stating we owed $25.39. Really, after 1 1/2 years!!! How do you run a business and don't even know who owes you money. No problem paying the money; this is just a POOR way to run a business.
I REALLY THINK DOCTOR PARKER AND DOCTOR MILLER AND THE NURSES MIKE, CANDACE, BETTY, SPYRE, ASHLEY, TYLER, JUSTIN, TIM, MELISSA, SARA, LYNN, KELLY, JENNIFER, TAYLOR, PAM. THANKS FOR SAVING MY LIFE FROM THAT BLOCKAGE. "THANKS AGAIN" AND LOVE Y'ALL (AARON NORRIS)
Dr. Sanders was amazing and straight forward with me on my surgery and did a great job. Now just wanting to get better and get on with life. Thanks to him hopefully life will be much better quality!
My first visit with my new doctor and they were so easy to talk with and it was such a pleasant visit even though it was at the doctor's office. I love my doctor and recommend anyone that is looking for a doctor, please consider this practice.
The Techs on the Radiation team are wondeful, compassionate and caring. The Oncology Drs that check you once a week during Radiation could use some bedside compassion and empathy training, feel like just another one getting radiation treatments, they need to realize that although another patient is just the norm for them it is not for us, this is our first time and a devastating time for us.
I have had 7 surgeries at SGMC and everytime I received the same treatment. Rude, mannerless, sometimes not even recieving my pain medication for 12 to 14 hours after a major surgery. I require a special diet for gastroparesis and diabetes, I was served regular meals. My home medications was hardly ever given to me, including my insulin. Even after all the bad experiences with this hospital, they still transferred me by ambulance to SGMC about 2 weeks ago for lower right side abdomon/pelvic pain so bad I couldn't walk. The emts said Lakeland couldn't handle stomach pain.????? So they wasted my time and theirs by taking me in the back and rolling me out front with a heplock in my wrist. After about 4 to 5 hours later, the pain subsided, it took me another 30 minutes waiting on someone to take a heplock out my wrist! And I left! Seen by absolutely no one. But get looked at crazy and talked about and made fun by the emts & hospital staff just because who I have chosen for MY pcp. And because of that I have terminated my pcp and I'm currently working on finding another pcp. Really I would not take my animals to this hospital. You will DIE before getting decent treatment. Bad thing is, they believe everyone is a drug addict, and I had plenty of "drugs"(prescribed that is) at home. I want answers to why I'm in PAIN!!!! Not your Damn drugs that you apparently sell when your patients don't receive what they needed after a major surgery. And keep your apology for someone else. Cause I'd rather DIE before going back to SGMC.
My 88-year old mother with dementia was admitted with a fractured shoulder. She was placed on the post-partum floor, apparently due to room availability. It seemed odd, but was a real blessing. Everyone of the nurses, techs, dietary, and housekeeping staff were superb! My mother could not have received any better care than what all of these ladies provided with such compassion and professionalism.
Have been waiting for so long, my friend has restated why she s here countless times to. Got here at 12:30p, it's currently 7:16p and we are still waiting finally saw the doctor about 15 minutes ago but anytime someone goes to retrieve something it takes a minimum of 15 minutes. Closer to 30. Nowhere closer to figuring out what's wrong with my friend, and have considered leaving, BUT of course they had her pay when they pur her back in a room. Not to mention the staff has been very unprofessional, when they think nobody is listening people are very much listening. Listening to you talk about my friends mom who called to check up on her (and nobody came for about 10minutes to be able to give the mom an update) hearing you drop the f-bomb. Watching you scroll through the internet on your phone. The hospital my friend was at was so frantic to get her to the ER. They wouldn't even let her drive (hence why I'm here), yet we get here and wait for hours. Now I've been to my fair share of ERs, and I knew it would take a while but at least the other ones I've visited they were attentive, they were professional. And for crying out loud they didn't take 7+ hours. **edit** We finally left at 10:30p for them to tell my friend to resume done ibuprofen
The nurses were very nice and helpful during my stay at the hospital yesterday. They were able to answer all of my questions and made sure that I was comfortable the whole time.
I have had 18 weeks of chemo and I would like to say that I've had the best nurses and dr. In Valdosta. Dr. Bidyasar, Amanda Cornelia, Amber, Amanda, Crystal, Jennifer, Cristie, and some of the others nurses (whom I'm sorry I forgot your names) have not very only helped heal me but have also blessed my life. No offense ladies because i love all of you dearly but i pray i won't be back.
The Emergency room seriously need to run a lot faster. People come with all sorts of conditions. We come in to be told to wait hours in a room with people with god knows what. The service is terrible. I've been in this hospital a total of 10 hrs LEAVING WITH ISSUES NOT RESOLVED. Hire more doctors!!!!
VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS STAFF, DR. SOSNOWSKI WAS VERY INFORMATIVE AND EXPLAINED MY TEST RESULTS FULLY AND TO MY SATISFACTION. WAITING TIME WAS RELATIVELY SHORT COMPARED TO OTHER DR.'S OFFICES.
anyone who knows about Tricare Prime knows that you have $0 out of pocket expense on all treatment. You think a hospital would know and understand that, but not these idiots. I ve been harassed for almost a year and every time I get someone who isn t completely clueless I m told I won t receive anymore calls, but keep getting them. In the future I will drive as far as it takes to go to a hospital that isn t SGMC
Had a good, courteous, caring experience until it was time for me to be discharged. I m a single mom and my friends work jobs. So I was having to find a ride home. And the charge nurse on the floor I was on won t understanding this and was basically kicking me out of the hospital with my heart situation to the point of saying she was gonna call me a cab. You don t just kick a patient out!
Nurse Jennifer(RN) was nice, informative and a very good listener. Her presence was very calming. With anxieties at an all time high during this pandemic a calming presence is a God send.
Unfortunately no urgent cares were open on New Year's day. However the SGMC ER was open and did great treating my daughter. The nurse keep us informed of the next step the entire time and the PA was so sweet to my girl while accessing her. From walking in the front door or exiting the building was 3 hours.
South Georgia Medical Center is a joke. We went to Urgent Care on N. Ashley and after seeing the severity of the issue, they told us to come to main SGMC to be seen as they have all this lab work and specialists that could diagnose and treat. They also told us to stress the severity and urgency of treatment.
Upon arriving at main SGMC, They took our vitals and asked our signs and symptoms and if we ve had issues before. After telling them yes and about being treated multiple times for the issue, We were rushed through Triage and discharged immediately like we were crazy and a nuisance to them. When we told them what Urgent Care told us to tell them, the RN replied with they always say everything is Urgent. We weren t even given or offered a second look.
Aside from the TERRIBLE patient care, the RNs that saw us in triage were confused on who was going to do what. They were asking us questions while we had oral thermometers in our mouths among other disorganizations.
This isn t the first time we ve had terrible patient care at this hospital. The new system is no improvement. And our complaints to the staff go nowhere.
I was seen at the Urgent Care on 8/5/2020. Jennifer was the nurse that took care of me and you could ve sworn I was her family member!! She was the absolute best! I had gone to the ER the night before with a severe sinus infection and the only thing they wanted to do was test me for the damn Corona Virus (with literally zero Corona symptoms). I will never go back to the ER for any kind of medical help. Jennifer at Urgent Care is an angel!
My grandmother was a patient at SGMC twice within the last year. Throughout both her stays from the ED to the ICU to the general floor she had excellent nurses, physicians, techs, and a host of other staff who provided her with remarkable care. Great things are happening at SGMC, and they are clear to see everywhere you look!
I had to return today to redo blood work that was previously done and lost, so needlessly to say im not to happy. I had to wait an hour past my appt time.
Both nurses Autumn and Ashley were very kind and helpful during my biopsy of my thyroid in radiology. John in labs was very courteous collecting the samples. Can't remember the doctor's name who performed my procedure but he was very gentle extracting the cultures. Thank you all for your kindness
I am a regular user of SGMC Lanier campus, My doctors in Valdosta order lab work I do it always have it done in Lakeland, always in and out quickly, great people to serve everyone.
My mother was admitted for 2 days and left in the same condition with the same pain that she had coming in, and no answers as to what was the problem. My family will not be visiting this hospital again.
I had the unfortunate opportunity of sustaining a dislocated knee on June 21 while out shopping with my family. My paramedics, Matt and Kathy, we re phenomenal from our initial introduction, giving me pain medication to help make me a little more comfortable, and to our departure after helping me onto the stretcher at the ER. A huge thank you to Dr. Edgerton for talking me through everything and making my reduction as painless as possible. And a BIG shout out to my nurse (and hype girl) for cheering me on the entire time. I couldn t have asked for a better team of healthcare workers. Thank you all for what you do!
Other than having to spend 24 hours in the ER because there was no rooms available.. it was good everyone treat me kindly.. especially Furman in the ER he got me a bed up grade .. wish was great .. I didn t sleep at all due the drunk yelling all night ., but the staff was great .. I never got any food .. at all from getting there at 2:00 pm till 11:00 am I think if there is over flow in the hospital please feed the patients .. I m going to check my bill if they charged me for food .. we re going to talk .. thank you Furman for taking care of your patients..
Horrible wait times, if you need emergency care then do not come here because you will be waiting 3-9 hours just to get a room and get treated. People will be near death before the lazy talkative nurses get you in a room to see a doctor.
I AM GETTING AN ATTORNEY IN THE MORNING. I WENT TO QUESTION A NURSE ABOUT MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND THEY SAID THAT I MADE A TERRORISTIC THREAT & HAD ME ESCORTED OUT BY SECURITY. I SAID NOTHING WRONG AND DID NO WRONG. I WAS HUMILIATED. DO NOT GO HERE GO TO TIFTON OR THOMASVILLE!!! DISGUSTING STAFF.. DISGRACE TO ALL GOOD HOSPITALS OUT THERE.
After calling for a nurse twice over a 2 hour period, no one ever show'd up. Glad it wasn't an emergency. No one seems to care. Friendly staff doesn't go far, if they can't get the job done in a timely manner.
Absolutely horrible hospital. My mother has COPD CHF and afib and we sent her there three weeks ago for heart and lung issues. The heart center is awesome. When Mom was there Dr Evans took great care of her then they moved her to the fourth floor. The nurse's don't tell us anything and the staff and Dr Beale told us she is a drain on the hospital taxpayers money and etc for being on medicare my wife has POA over my mother and guardianship no decisions can be made without my wife being contacted and they blew the helm and are trying to convince mother to die ....the pulmonology director and the social services director also involved trying to force hospice and make her decide to die telling her there's no prognosis and etc etc etc she was eating at her room today. We have contacted and attorney and will be dealingwith this. My mother was told by the pulmonology director and social services her chronic illness is a drain on resources and that she will not get better and so on.
I am new to this town and didn t know my closest hospital was nearly an hour away first off. I got in at 12 the staff was nice and moved very fast to see what s going on I m 15 weeks pregnant and their was only 3 other people their waiting to be seen when I got in they took my blood and just had me waiting with no updates. 5 hours later I was still waiting over ten people that came in after me was checked in and left way before me they had new born babies waiting for hours as well. An older man with a headache was seen before me and I asked why is it and the nurse told me that the other people was more urgent then me having unfamiliar pains and I m pregnant in my preference is nonsense everyone needs help I saw nobody come in looking as they are about to die just as I walked in the did the same and walked right out before me. I will not ever go back to that hospital again and I m actually looking into relocating because babies and pregnant women are not priority at all even if you been their for over 4 hours. I left and will Not be returning.
Surgury went very well, thanks to my favorite midwife Stacy Reid and Dr. Yarbrough.!!! Laura Davis from Labor and delivery was very Awesome and Very informative with an outgoing personality. My stay was from Friday until monday, and all of my RN nurses (Martha, Christina, Alexis and sharon) were super helpful, caring and nice. They provided me with whatever I requested for. I truly thank them and their great Nurse manager Mrs. Debbie for taking such great care of me while I was there. Great Staff!!!
I had surgery on Jan 31st at SGMC. Most of the same day surgery nurses prepping me for surgery were excellent. However, the woman who did an EKG was not considerant of my privacy at all. She hooked everything up and pulled my gown down past my waist. Then, a nurse walked out of the room and left the door wide open, completely exposing me to everyone in the hallway. It wouldn't have taken much effort to cover me up for the duration of the test. The recovery room staff and my doctor, Dr. Davis were both wonderful. I returned 2 weeks later to have surgery again and was admitted to the hospital. The 3rd floor nurses were absolutely negligent and horrible from the time I arrived in the room. The first two nurses were BATHED in perfume or lotion, not sure which. It is listed in my chart and they were also told verbally that I have asthma and have a severe sensitivity to fragrances. When I mentioned it, I was told I could be moved to another floor, but that there was not a nurse in the entire hospital who was not wearing perfume. How ridiculous! I was then given masks to wear when someone came in. That is not an effective way to prevent exposure to excessive fragrance. Everyone was very short and snappy with me after I said something about it. It is highly unprofessional for someone in health care to come to work with so much perfume on. It was also a task to get my pain meds or anything else I needed. It took forever for them to respond. They were completely unconcerned about me. It was a terrible experience and I was so glad to be able to leave there. If I need medical help in the future, I'll choose somewhere else. Training in compassion and patient care would be invaluable.
I have found Valdosta to have GREAT Doctors and a great hospital. Everyone we spoke to have been so nice. Super bedside manners. Need that in Columbus.
BBP violations beyond comprehension. Filthy, lackadaisical cardiologist no longer has patients best interest in mind. There is no heart in this hospital, just good old boy club money mongers worried more about t-times than patient care.
Worst experience of my life. They put me on a stretcher for 4 hours in the middle of a hallway and left me there. Right in front of the nurses station so I could hear everything about the other patients, even heard a full SSN. A family member even called them asking about me and told this family memeber my results before even i found out. This family member was not authorized.
Worst. Hospital. Ever. 10 people in the emergency waiting room and they're considered "busy" yet every other hospital I've been to has seen everyone that comes in within two hours of being there when it's standing room only in the waiting room. The SHORTEST wait time I've seen here is 3 hours just to be taken back to triage to get vital signs. Terrible.
My husband went to the ER to get medical attention for his hand and shoulder. Needless to say after four hours of waiting, he wasn't seen and was told that they forgot about him and that the NP, whom first attended to him left and passed his records to another NP whom never came. But they remembered to charge a copay and our insurance company for services that were never done. All my husband walked away with after four hours was a prescription for some Ibuprofen. And the sad part is that they didn't even have a steady flow of patience. Very disappointed with services!!!
I would like to thank the staff at SGMC outpatient surgery center for taking Excellence Care of my daughter before/during/after her surgery. Everyone was very nice, efficient and professional. KUDOS to Julie Boatright, RN, Jennifer Maddox, Nashell Berrian, Dr. Retterbush, Pete Shea and operating room staff.
Being from out-of-town, the facility was a little hard to find. Once there, though, the staff was very caring and accommodating. The wait time to get into an examination room and do the preliminaries with the nurse was relatively short. The wait time before seeing a physician, however, was relatively long - over an hour. But once there, the doctor was efficient and professional. Treatment was prompt and effective. There was a little confusion afterward with the prescriptions. The nurse said one thing but the drug store had something else on the meds bottles. When I called the next day to resolve the contradiction, the person I spoke to was of no help in resolving the issue. He didn't listen to my explanation and rigidly refused to seek a solution.
The nurses and techs on Labor and Delivery, PostPartum, and in the nursery were amazing!! They made sure the twins and I were very well taken care of and most of them seem to really love what they do!! Thanks ladies!!
My nurses were great! Heidi Swanson and Kim Strawder and Anna So grateful they were wonderful! Kim Stawder went out of her way to keep me comfortable! She s the best!
I sat in the ER with my husband for 5 hours. We NEVER SEEN A DOCTOR and was moved into three different rooms. There were sick children and even a employee of the hospital who had been in a terrible wreck waiting with us too who had also waited several hours! The employee was even told at one point her name was kicked out of the system?!
I had an MRI at SGMC Smith Northview campus on 17 Jul 2020. Many thanks and shout out to Ragan, MRI Tech, for the professionalism shown while preparing for and then performing the test. Also, shout out to Urgent Care Nurse, Keely for the assist with getting the IV started for the contrast. Both ladies were very professional and put me at ease.
My last 2 visits here have been wonderful! One was in the ER. The nurse/dr were all very, very nice. I got to a room quickly, got all tests results quickly, and I could tell they really cared about me and getting me better. Second time was yesterday when I got in a little accident @ 23 wks pregnant. Was brought in to make sure baby was okay. L&D nurse Lara is just the best. She s soooooooooo nice and kept me very informed and is awesome at her job. From My personal experiences, the hospital is definitely changing for the better and I no longer cringe if I have to go there! My only complaint (why I gave 4 stars, not 5) is the ultrasound tech named Rachel would not let my husband and I see our baby....... I asked if we could see and she said no because she wouldn t be able to see if she turned the screen anymore and there wasn t enough room...... which is odd because another us tech earlier in the day was VERY polite and showed me everything with the baby and she could see just fine. Rachel didn t even bother showing us anything even after she was finished getting the measurements she needed. I really don t feel it s right to not allow a mother to be able to see her child if even for a second on an ultrasound ESPECIALLY after any kind of accident. It was very, very rude. So I left the hospital crying. I hope no one that s pregnant ever gets her for a tech. They will be highly disappointed as I was.
This is from Wayne Gaskins (patient) and sister Jackie Atkins. We can not say enough about the quality care we received from the outstanding Nurse team at SGMC Smith Northview Campus! Each Nurse was very professional yet very personable. The awesome care each provided helped with my concerns with my particular procedure. We could just go on and on, but will end this with my forever THANKS! Wayne Gaskins
My experience here has been amazing!!!! I gave birth to 2 Outta 4 of My Babies here & all the nurses & staff has been sooooo sweet & generous! They have really taken great care of my babies & I.
I thought this was the best and friendliest staff at any hospital I've been in or visited. The food was actually great. The people are so helpful and quick to tend to any needs. Overall a very pleasant experience.
ZERO STARS! HORRIBLE!!!!! WAITED OVER 6 HOURS JUST TO BE TOLD TO WAIT AGAIN. THIS DEPARTMENT NEEDS A TOTAL MAKEOVER AND THE CITY NEEDS TO ADDRESS THE WAIT TIMES. CONTACTING HIGHER MEDICAL AUTHORITIES FOR AN EVALUATION OF SERVICE WAIT TIMES.
Everything was good. All people I came in contact with were courteous and professional. That includes nurses, doctors, med. assistants, office, technicians from testing areas. It's never fun being sick & in the hospital, but it was as pleasant as possible, especially with all the Covid concerns & restrictions in place.
