Had lunch at the Bully Ranch at the Sonnenalp. Burgers were about $20 which I expect in Vail, but they were OK, not anything special. Spicy margarita was pretty damn tasty & the service was good.

Went for a spa-day with my girlfriend. Talk about hospitality; everyone there was great! Relaxed in the lounge with some tea before going in to a couples massage. Afterwards, relaxed on the lawn in front of the Gore River -- they even gave us a complimentary 5 minutes at the oxygen bar (being from Colorado, I hardly ever feel the altitude, but it was really cool to experience).
Can't overstate how awesome it was - definitely my new go-to spot to take my girlfriend for relaxation days.
Had a massage with Mick, hands down he's great at his job! Everyone at the spa was very nice and welcoming, I'm definitely coming back!
Fabulous hotel in downtown Vail. Book a two bedroom suite, the balcony wrapped all around the room. Fireplace in the living room. Only problem was housekeeping never replenished the coffee for the nespresso.
Incredible property with incredible staff. A 5 star stay in Vail.
Food and service were good. Enjoyed my buffalo burger.
A wonderful get away, very nice and personable staff. Housekeeping is top notch .
The food in their restaurant was fantastic. The service was wonderful as well
Central location, attentive friendly service, beautiful hotel and comfortable rooms.
The hotel and spa were amazing! The building is beautiful and very well maintained... Would get 5 stars, but the mattress was absolutely awful (and thats kinda the point of staying in a hotel).
The first time was pretty good, i loved the food and the service was kind and they knew what they were doing. The second wasn't the same, the food was good as always but the service was aweful, the host was rude, we had to asked for more water every time, one of our plates came 10 minutes after the rest. I wasnt happy with that visit
Amazing staff gorgeous rooms and the perfect location in town could not have picked a better place to start my honeymoon
Beautiful hotel and spa. I had a very relaxing time here and felt pampered my entire stay.
The most relaxing and up-to-date spa on all body and facial needs. Hydrafacial and a deep tissue massage with Katie Jean. Didn t realize I was able to spend 5 hours there. Kim is the sweetest director and Tj, Eduardo and Lindsay made such an enjoyable day. #1 in vail for a reason.
Rustic feel and kept very nice. Great location in the middle of vail.
This place was amazing I loved the food. Also the service was the best will come again.
A delightful stay at a very comfortable hotel in the heart of Vail.
Our Junior suite was very nicely appointed and quite comfortable. A big king bed with soft mattresses and pillows, in-house fireplace, walk-in closet and a positively opulent bathroom. The room was very clean and immaculately maintained, with a great view. The two-person soaker tub was divine. Great water pressure.
There were a few niggling oversights. The bathrobes were not sized for an adult man. We had to call down for extra pillows and there was a bizarre electrical issue where hitting the wrong light switch killed all power in the room in the middle of the night. Weirdly the minibar didn't have any liquor. Spa fees were mandatory whether or not you use those services, which felt a little extortionate. The room service fees were frankly outrageous; I've spent less money at five star hotels with white-gloved butler staff. Sixty dollars for a mimosa and a bowl of oatmeal was ludicrous. Good gluten free options though. The food at the in house restaurant was of very middling quality, with big hits and misses (burgers were quite good, superlative tomato bisque, absolutely terrible lobster mac.) The Sonnenalp is conveniently close to many activites and locations in Vail. We enjoyed our stay.
Beautiful resort with amazing staff, had a very comfortable stay. Has a charming character to it, felt like we were in Europe.. perfect room and view .. will definitely recommend to stay here when visiting vail
Great location!!! Beautiful and cozy room. Plsh bed, fireplace, jacuzzi, on site spa and balconies available...what more can you ask for?! Oh yeah...SNOW lol. It makes this place a dream to be..as well as the surrounding community!!
Amazing hotel with top amenities. Breakfast is incredible and worth the visit alone. The views and staff unbelievably accommodating and professional.
Top of the line! 5th generation owned and operated. It doesn't get better than this.
Bully ranch is a down home place. Our sought out hangout while away in Vail.
We hosted our wedding here 10/24/2020. Everything exceeded our expectations. The rooms are phenomenal and unique, with gorgeous accents. The room service, spa, and breakfast at Ludwig's is amazing. Jennifer Kim, our coordinator did an amazing job remaining calm as we moved our wedding due to COVID. They did a great job adhering to strict COVID guidelines. I cannot recommend this place more. Will definitely recommend it to people in the future and try to return often!
It's was alright, less impressive than other hotels in the area.
The Beautiful dining experience afforded by The Swiss Inn is one if a kind in Colorado
A bit of Austria in Colorado! Every room is unique and the entire place is authentic. Great location in the heart of Vail, surrounded by pedestrian only streets, shopping and great dining.
Ate at the Bully Ranch. While food was good, the menu was very limited.
This hotel is very charming and filled with character. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, and the location is quite convenient. Their ski concierge service is very convenient for getting on the mountain. Additionally, the restaurants at the Sonnenalp are all fantastic. Their pools and spas are very nice as well. This is definitely one of the best hotels on Vail, particularly for skiers.
great service very friendly staff lots of closet and shelf space luxurious bathroom and glad there is no coffee maker they are a known breeder of bactetia
Amazing amazing! Amazing location amazing staff amazing spa!!
I went to the Bully Ranch restaurant in Sonnenalp and was very impressed with the friendliness and promptness of the staff, as well as the quality of the food and the atmosphere.
Stayed here last night. Staff were incredibly friendly, informative, and on the ball. Place is stunning and amenities are world class.
We ate at Swiss Chalet and it was awesome. Would definitely go back!
The food and service at the Sonnenalp was above my expectations. As soon as my glass was empty it was refilled and the food was amazing!
Beautiful hotel in a prime spot in Vail. Highly recommended. Excellent service, ski concierge, and great bar/live music.
The room at Sonnenalp was amazing. When we got there we were informed that there was a wedding at the hotel and they had upgraded our room for us. The bathroom were huge and luxurious. All staff was very friendly and helpful. The views off of the balcony are second to none.
From the cozy beds to the old world look of the room no other place to stay in vail. the hospitality and food were impeccable
Nice location, clean and friendly. I found the rooms to be not very elegant.
Original room was terrible but they changed the room the next day. Night time concierge staff very unhelpful. The manager during the day was nice. But they should have given us a reasonable room in the first place.
We really enjoyed our stay here and were very impressed with the service! The concierge gave us an idea of a place to set up a portable grill for a bbq picnic dinner. When that fell thru he gave us a second place. He lent us 2 chairs and a makeshift table for our outing. The room was really nice and comfortable. The fireplace made it really cozy. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
Their spa is worth a visit
And their restaurant has good food and drinks
Have never stayed here personally
Fantastic service, location, and design. Looking forward to the next stay.
I know this spa looks so beautiful in the website, but be careful if you have booked during your holidays because the 24hrs cancellation policy is the worst I have ever seen. After many times going to this spa for facial I have to cancel one of my treatment because it was to late and I was running late to drive on, and the manager of the spa speak with me very rude and she said she will return the money back to this treatment, but I couldn t back to the spa. I was in shock what kind of worker like a manager asks his clients not to return to the spa because he has to return the money for a massage that was not used for critical reasons. I am sorry that this happens, because by workers like this company loses customers and one day they ll not have clients. For all these reasons I will not recommend this spa at all, looks for another ones that are more flexible and make clients happy.
Nice hotel ... classic, cozy. Comfortable room bathrooms. Varied and abundant options for breakfast.
The only thing is that I recommend that the people who attend the reception of the spa be more friendly and smiling.
All the Spanish speaking hotel staff were very helpful.
I attended a wedding rehearsal dinner here and the meal and seinks were excellent!
We are here for Burton us open. And so far this hotel did not disappoint. It has a cute Bavarian charm our room has a loft with king bed, closet, dresser and a desk. This is great as my husband had to get work done. The main level has a huge master bath with two sinks huge tub and a separate shower. Murphy bed for kids, seating area and a beautiful fire place with decorative antlers. See pictures. Room is stocked with robes, slippers nesoresso coffee pods. We also received complimentary large bottle of water. We requested microwave and fridge so we can have our own cheese platter in the room and it was all here when we arrived. They have a ski valet as well. Parking is by valet only. Three restaurants on site. The lounge had live music where you can request songs, enjoy wine and order food. Food is from the same kitchen at Bully Ranch restaurant. You have put your name down on the list as they don't take reservations. I will update the review after our stay. So far we love it.
Sight seeing around the area. Beautiful part of the earth!
Amazing staff, clean room, wonderful amenities. What more could you ask for?
Dinner at the Sonnenalp's Bully Ranch was like getting a homemade dinner after a long day! Delicious and comforting! I didn't arrive in Vail until nearly 10pm, and they were also open late and happy to serve me dinner.
Live music in the lobby bar is a nice apres ski setting
Outstanding resort hotel, extremely well maintained with great personal service.
Great place for a wedding! Sevice, food, top notch. Glass walls are super cool
We had dinner at the restaurant. Better service than we have received in a long time. Food was also very good, and after dinner drinks were great. Definitely try the peach cobbler!
Bully's 3 at the Sonnenalp is a consistent spot for casual dining apres ski. Food, service and ambiance are always reliable. Great for friends or family. Only drawback is they don't take reservations. Great for kids of all ages and pleasant for adults too.
I have very mixed feelings about our stay at the Sonnenalp Vail. The hotel is very nice, the room was spotless, the pool area is lovely but our initial room assignment was disappointing. I reserved a Lodgepole Junior Suite which included this description: "This Lodgepole Junior suite has one king bed and is approximately 490 square feet. This room has a gas log fireplace, step out balcony, and a lavish marble bathroom." At check-in we were assigned Room 201 which is a small, dark, garden-level (or roof level?) room without a balcony. The window view is obstructed by the balconies of nearby rooms. If you want to vacation in a basement then I guess it would be acceptable. I immediately returned to the front desk and requested a room with a balcony since that is what I reserved. I'll give the front desk credit for being professional and quickly finding a new room for us, but it would've been nice if we'd been given what was reserved in the first place.
Great service from start to finish. The food was out of the ordinary but very good.
We have been coming to Sonnenalp year after year, and each time we are more pleased with Sonnenalp than the previous year! You guys are amazing and every time, you manage to up yourselves! We can't thank you enough and always tell our friends and family about the great experience we have with Sonnenalp and its amazing staff! We are coming back soon and cannot wait for our next experience there! Our best to Rosana and Johannes Faessler and the wonderful staff!
We had lunch on the great patio. Unfortunately, it took 30 minutes for the waitress to take our order. The food was good but not worth the wait.
Once you stay here, you'll always want to go back. From Corky the hostess who makes early departures a pleasure with packed breakfasts for the road to the the owner Johannes (sp?) who hosts a lunchtime picnic at the top of the mountain. Due to the Sonnenalp's European roots there are many Germans and Dutch visitors in the hotel, along with those from Latin America,it's quite an international group. The spa and pool after a day of skiing are first rate, the gym is also decent and there are yoga classes. Do be sure to attend the smores evenings outside and wrap up warm. The staff makes all the difference here, and they are ALL lovely. Lastly, the Ski Haus at the base of the mountain is amazing - Sonnenalp has leased out space in the shop's basement, and they provide boot warming and store your boots and skis each night. I would say, Sonnenalp is homely and cozy, not a trendy or happening place for singletons.
Really great location in a nice downtown area! I loves the streets with shops and sculptures.
My brother got married at the Sonnenalp a few weeks ago. My family and I cannot say enough wonderful things about it!! It was a truly perfect weekend. The staff was incredible. They made everyone feel welcome and at home throughout the entire weekend. Amy, the event coordinator, was unbelievable! Truly an amazing person to work with. To top it off, the hotel itself was fantastic. Everyone's room was beautiful, clean, & comfortable (absolutely loved the heated tile floors!). We cannot recommend them enough!!
Charming hotel with spacious rooms in Vail Village. Restaurants are wonderful as well as the staff. Must try the mudslides.
