My sisters, mom, and I celebrated my mom's 70th birthday here. We could not have chosen a better place. All of the staff was absolutely amazing!! I highly recommend you stay at this little piece of heaven!!

The Bully Ranch restaurant inside of the Sonnenalp Hotel is quite possibly the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at, in my opinion. The only thing going for it is it's pretty for Instagram photos and in a great location, but everyone at my table, including myself, sent their food back because it was awful. I think they boil all of their meat entrees (a German thing?) because the meat is grey on every dish and has zero seasoning. Replacement meals were just as bad. The table next to us also sent their food back. It's very expensive too, $30 burgers and old, stale fries. Ugh.

Really lovely spot wouldn't wan a scare anyone away BUT for some, you may start to realize there is a bit of a hostile vibe and not everything is as pleasant as they want it to seem ;) the space is wonderfully decadent and the staff are mostly top notch but from the ownership down there is some uptight arrogance that just isn't my cup of tea... plenty of more down to earth places to visit with much more downhome luxury and warm energy.

Our travel agent, Meg Austin, recommended that we come here for a quick weekend getaway. We don't want to leave! The views are amazing, the service is excellent, the rooms are adorable. I can't say enough nice things about this resort. I had a facial from Jessica that was superb! We tried to go to Booth Lake to hike and the parking lot was full and when we came back to the hotel disappointed, the valet offered to drive us there (I wish I caught his name, he made our trip!), and the food and service at Bully Ranch were top notch (yay Partryk and Diego)! We can't wait to come back.

I booked this for my anniversary and it was magical. It was everything I hoped for and more. They did a lovely job of setting up for us. The staff was kind and attentive. We absolutely loved the bretzel and the sauces it came with! It was delicious. Although, the grilled cheese doesn t look like much, it exceeded my expectations. The drinks are great as well! All I did was search the most romantic places to stay in Colorado and this came up. It looked old school, but the giant bathtub sold me. I was not disappointed! It was very romantic. We will certainly consider coming back.

We attended the Swiss chalet restaurant at the Sonnenalp resort for dinner. We were extremely disappointed. The sommelier upsold us some wine out of the price range we have him and then it was mediocre and somewhat acidic despite the promised description. Then, the expensive Raclette ($46) that we ordered that could supposedly be shared by 2 was seriously barely enough food for one person. We had to keep adding on sides. It was $14 extra dollars for lamb and it was 4 tiny pieces that were literally 1 bite for each piece. It was $9 for 3 more slices of cheese and each piece was half the size of a slice of bread. Dessert was the only thing that only seemed to be almost worth what you pay for ($16 for chocolate fondue that was actually big enough to share). We left the restaurant hungry after spending $150 on dinner after tips. When we had Raclette in Chamonix, France last year which was an amazing filling meal with wine and a dessert for each of us, it was $81.49 (Restaurant Le Monchu). Needless to say we will never return.

No coffee maker in the rooms is a bummer. Also no microwave and the fridge is filled with stuff to buy

Nice hotel in great location but definitely not worth the money. Website said complimentary self parking but when we arrived, valet said self parking is 2 blocks away and they charge now. So we got conned into paying 40 dollars a night for valet, ridiculous. I just think this place was incredibly over priced for what you get. Service wasn t bad, but any other hotel would offer the same.

Stayed here for 3 nights during our honeymoon. It was very nice and clean! A very unique atmosphere that we both loved. Has a German/Norwegian feel to it. The 3 hot tubs were amazing, the bellhop was very nice, and the heated bathroom floors were a great amenity. Our fireplace wasn t working and maintenance fixed it the same day. We ended up parking our car down the street at the free garage to avoid $40 valet parking everyday, but it s a nice service that they offer. Overall a great stay!

Visited the King's Bar two nights in a row (8/23 and 8/24) for the live music. Had an awesome time with both the performers. Be sure to visit if you like to have a good time and maybe even sing along.

My husband and I held our wedding reception at the Sonnenalp this past month. The wedding was perfect! Ludwigs was absolutely beautiful with all the windows (including the roof) giving natural light. The staff was extremely helpful and efficient. They handled everything with the wedding director, Amy, so I never had to worry about a single thing and could truly enjoy the day with my new husband. The food was delicious! Multiple guests told me it was the BEST meal of their life. My Great Aunt, who is in her 80s, said it was the best wedding she's ever attended, which says a lot since she's been to many weddings. The lead up to the wedding was extremely fun too. Amy was so helpful answering all my questions (and my parents' questions) and she was patient as we went through all the different decisions together. She was also good about laughing at my husband's "jokes." My husband and I will spend each anniversary at the Sonnenalp for hopefully many years since this is such a special place!

I got a reflexology massage and pedicure here. Pedicure was one of the best I ve had! Reflexology could have been a little stronger. However the masseuse accommodated my specific requests. Wish they offered longer than a 20min massage length.

Our time at Sonnenalp was wonderful!, It's a fabulous place with many amenities and things to do, beautiful spa and pool, hot tubs, and the service was impressive, we hope to go again sometime soon

Wonderful experience with great staff, restaurants, spa, and all amenities you would expect in an Alpine 5 star resort. Sonnenalp is managed by Stefan who is ever present and gives great attention to detail. Business services are also excellent and Jaclyn took care of our board meeting needs with great customer service. Highly recommended.

The best service in Vail, always a great time! Bunch is ridiculously good. Drinks Apre in the lobby are always entertaining and cozy. Swiss Chalet is a unique authentic Swiss experience. Bully Ranch has a great burger and salads. Over all my favorite place to stay in the Vail Valley

This place is amazing! The interiors are stunning. Everything is authentic and has a story, from the stonework to the pillows. Impressive service is available in all the restaurants. They have Ludwig s, bully ranch and the Swiss chalet, all offering their own approach to food with incredible service and quality.

AMAZING!!! Just enjoyed my second visit to the Sonnenalp, this place is absolutely Phenomenal!! The staff is beyond helpful and accommodating. Beautiful Hotel and Rooms, Outstanding Staff, Restaurants, Buffet Breakfast. Great location for Skiers or just enjoying your stay. One of the best Spas I've ever been to, don't even have one suggestion for room of improvement, they have thought of everything. Very attentive Staff that go above and beyond to make everyone's stay be the most glorious vacation.
I can't say enough good things about this Hotel and this comes from a very picky person. Oh, I forgot to mention, every room has a fireplace, sitting area and an enormous bathroom. Also a Pet Friendly Hotel! It can't get any better than the Sonnenalp Hotel which is family owned with a great amount of pride considered in every detail for guests comfort.

So excited then so disappointed. We didnt experience any of the amazing service others mentioned, very meh. They wouldn't allow late checkout even with our child, all of our stuff got packed up and stored. Wouldn't go back.

Absolutely beautiful spa. They made a mistake with our booking time/phone number, but definitely made up for it by giving us half price day pass and discount on massage. Too bad loud kids are allowed to scream and play Marco Polo. Really ruins the tranquility.

We had a delightful stay in late May. The room was very comfortable and nice, the staff were attentive and friendly, the food (especially the brunch) was fantastic, but most of all the spa was the ultimate experience. I m not a big spa guy, but this was my first indulgence where I really enjoyed it. We enjoyed the outdoor hot pools with the sounds of the creek nearby, and spring snowflakes coming down around us! The spa experience here is fantastic if you re a spa regular or novice !

Prior to our stay, I had correspondence with the Reservations team multiple times. I asked if our room had a balcony, and they told me yes. Upon arrival, we came to find out that we had been stuck in a corner pool view room with no balcony, and no view of anything but the floors of others balconies, a dirty roof, and a sliver of the pool (BEWARE OF ROOM 201!!!). We might as well have been put into a room in the basement. I called the front desk, nicely explained my situation, and asked if we could be switched to a different room since I had specifically asked for a balcony...nope! Sorry, sir, unfortunately... yadda yadda yadda, that whole runaround. Unbelievable. We had reservations at the attached Bully Ranch Restaurant which I immediately cancelled since I refuse to give them another penny. Needless to say, we won t be staying here again. We should have stayed in the Sebastian hotel across the street - you can get a much nicer room with no balcony for the same price. Mic drop.
