Nice enough lobby hotel bar. Very noisy place and swamped staff. Offers a happy hour cocktail time and it's beneficial to be there with people you already know. Fair selection of wines by the glass and regular bar stuff.

Great location within walking distance to many great Chicago sights, mainly Grant/Millennium Park. The room was much smaller than I anticipated, and the used napkin on the windowsill was a bit of a turn off. The decor was nice and elegant though and the hotel itself was quiet, however it is right next to an L line and the train blows its horn at all hours of the night.

Pull-out bed wasn't very comfortable but no complaints other than my back hurting. Bathroom is rlly nice and they had multiple TV's per room if the room layout was too spread out for everyone to look off of one.

This was a really nice place. I'd give it 5 stars if all the rooms didn't overlook the train on Wabash. Then again, you can't really avoid that on Wabash. My wife has minor hearing issues and didn't notice, but I heard the train in my room. Other than that, the hotel was pretty classy and it's only a short walk to Millennium Park and the museum.

Loved it! The hotel was conveniently located in downtown Chicago and easily accessed to multiple public transportation options. The rooms were spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable. Staff was exceptional. I booked my trip with Expedia and due to weather my flight was changed to the next morning. The Silversmith hotel agreed not to charge me the for the first night I was scheduled for. Hannah was very friendly and knowledgeable. She gave me her card and said if Expedia questioned my reasoning for a refund to have them call her. I don t know if the hotel was contacted by Expedia but I have been refunded for the night I was scheduled for. Will definitely stay at this hotel again!

This was our second year going to Canton for a swim meet. The staff is so friendly and accommodating! They moved breakfast up to 5:30 for Friday, Saturday and Sunday to meet the needs of the early morning swimmers and their families. No one complained that they had to be their early. The staff wanted to make us happy in...

Excellent location, great service, beautiful facility. Had some trouble with a couple of minor things and the front desk team instantly made it their personal mission to make it right for us. All the way up to the manager calling us after we got home to follow up. It's hard to trust online reviews sometimes but trust this: we would stay at the Silversmith again in a heartbeat.

This spot is in an amazing location! It is right by the L train and two blocks from the miracle mile. I really like the people that work there, they were very knowledgeable about the area. They were not annoyed when asked about said area. I was not impressed with the actual room. They were small and a bit anti-climactic. The air didn t work right either. Otherwise, very charming and clean

Beautifully appointed room with a king size bed and settee. Comfortable and quiet. Bathroom was spotless and nicely designed. Great location in the Loop, maybe 2 blocks from the Art Institute. Only complaint was an unexpected and seemingly undisclosed "destination charge" of $15/night to cover, according to the desk clerk at chechout, things like Wi-fi and 2 bottles of water/night. When we checked in the desk clerk made a point of telling us he put some water in the room for us, implying it was a gift. Any charges for Wi-fi were not clearly stated. If the had been I would have just used my data. I don't want to end on a sour note. It is a very lovely hotel. Just be forewarned about possible unexpected charges.

Can't say enough about this hidden gem of a hotel in the loop. Excellent service, extraordinarily friendly staff, and a wonderful old hotel kept up to modern standards. Will return on our next visit to Chicago.

One of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Everyone was very nice and professional, the room was amazing, the bed was by far the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. This hotel is very close the train station, there are also a lot of resultants and entertainment/tourist destinations within walking distance.

Overall, the hotel is gorgeous. Definitely recently remodeled. However, when we got to our room, there was hair in the clean towels and all over the shower. The toilet also was not cleaned as there was urine stains all over. The remodel was also somewhat shoddy, as our bedroom door wasnt cut even so you could actually see from from the outside if our light was on or not. Not to mention, the doors slam and theres no insulation to buffer the noise... Not enjoyable at 7am

This hotel was beautiful inside but my room was pathetic. No towels to be found. Took over an hour for room service. And whats with the 90$ in extra fees and charges. Stupid. Wont stay here again. The staff was pretty nice. The valet scratched my brand new audi. They claimed they didnt of course. Very disappointing experience.

The Silversmith was lovely. Every member of the staff I encountered was very thoughtful, and the room was able to be comfortably darkened for both an afternoon nap and a late night slumber.

This was not the best hotel to stay at, you must request room service, room was extremely small, must request everything you are in need of. If driving be prepared to pay an additional $55-$80 for parking, with no hotel validation available.

Very friendly and helpful staff; beautiful room and lobby. Great location a short walk from the train station, the water, and the Magnificent Mile. The restaurant and bar are also great. Well worth the price.

The hotel ambience was sleek and stylish. Staff was very professional and treated us as if we were royalty. The room was really spacious with high ceilings. The bed was comfortable, bathroom was fully renovated and the room was very comfortable. For the price, you can't beat this place. Centrally located near everything. A block from Macy's. Amazing hotel and location. Highly recommend.

I recently stayed at The Silversmith Hotel for 4 nights with 7 of my friends for a birthday getaway and couldn't have been more pleased with the location, the rooms, the service, and the hospitality! I have never written a review on a hotel but thought it was necessary since we were so pleased and don't feel the hotel has gotten the credit it deserves. We booked 2 rooms and no one in our group had a negative thing to say. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with suggestions from food, to activities, to shopping, to transportation, to just seeing how our night/day was going. Our rooms were large with a private sitting area that worked out perfectly and the beds were extremely comfortable. I loved that each room has their own mini fridge and that the bathrooms were extra large. The location was so convenient and close to everything we wanted to see and do! When we visit Chicago again we will definitely be staying at The Silversmith Hotel. Thank you for the excellent service!

Stayed her for two weeks when I had Trial and it was excellent. The rooms were spotless, the entire Staff was extremely helpful, the restaurant was delicious, and everything was in walking distance. Highly recommended if traveling to Chicago, IL on business or pleasure.

Friendly staff and comfortable rooms, though some features could use improvement. Towel racks in bathroom, for example.

When we checked in today, I would say:
3 stars
This hotel has recently changed some of it's policies. They now charge $15/day for amenities previously included in your room rate: wifi, robes, water bottles, etc. Not included in that rate is early check in, which costs an extra $25 from 10 am til 2 pm, despite your room sitting otherwise empty. another ununcluded feature: Smart TV's. the televisions in the room were probably top of the line 5 years ago, but sorely lagging behind more recent competition: bring your own device if you want to enjoy Netflix, Hulu, etc.
It's still a great hotel with decent value, but I hate feeling like we are being nickeled and dimed for every little thing: it's called the hospitality industry for a reason, and this hotel seems to be forgetting that.
TL;DR: expect a good experience with unexpected fees.

Arrived at 1pm, and I was told the room was ready. However they did charge early check-in fee, if you want to check in before 2pm. So they'd rather leave the room ready but empty, and their customer unhappy and homeless. An additional $50 charge appeared on my credit card, but they did not tell me anything about the charge when I checked out, and no receipt was provided. Called them to have their explanation, but they had totally no idea what that charge was for...

The look of the hotel is very classy, what I didn't like was that the heat was not evenly distributed over the room and also the water to shower with was cold and low pressure. If this was a best Western or lower end hotel I would not complain but you pay for luxury when you stay here and I didn't get the full effect of what I paid for

Please make sure the front desk clarifies and/ or the booking agency the mandatory charge of the Silversmith s destination fee that is charged at the end of your stay. Unfortunately we misunderstood this charge and were under the impression that if we didn t utilize the service we would not be charged. We also failed to see this mandatory fee on the Expedia site when we booked. At check in, there was something mentioned about having ice delivered to the room, coffee, room service, etc. We did not plan on utilizing this service so we did not think much of it until we checked out for the weekend. I called the hotel management for clarification and was told that this charge was for access to the gym, free business service, and express check-in. All things that are usually included in your hotel stay if these amenities are offered. It was also mentioned that this was their resort fee. I have stayed at many resorts and let me tell you that there was no resort feel about this stay. It was your typical hotel. So when you re comparing prices of downtown hotels, look into these mandatory fees! Ask about them when you re booking and at check in! And just because this hotel looks like a great deal because of price, it may not be that much cheaper when all said and done. There s plenty of hotels that do not charge this mandatory fee or truly have a fee based charge for the services you utilize. Beside this charge, we enjoyed our stay in Chicago at the Silversmith! The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large, and the staff was welcoming. We will definitely clarify any additional and mandatory charges whenever booking our next hotel! And we would probably have chosen a different downtown Chicago location if we would have known about this fee. Lesson learned!

The downtown location was great. The decor I would describe as modern with a classic feel, and the hotel seemed to have a recent face-lift. Our room was nice with a sitting area and semi-divided sleeping area, each with its own flat screen TV in the 32 to 40 inch range. The room also had a mini fridge and a Keurig, which we didn't use. The bathroom was nice with a large shower, but the water pressure was a little lacking. The room had nice robes available, and the towels were lush. Overall I was pleased with our stay.
