Great location, only a few blocks from Millennium Park. Lots of shops and restaurants within walking distance. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are really nice, clean, spacious, and modern. Hotel is across the train, was lucky to not have a room facing it. I imagine it would be pretty loud if you had a room right across it.

Art Deco themed hotel, very Chicago. Hotel located around everything- near trains, 2 blocks form Millennium Park, Mag Mile and everything. Great location. Rooms were comfortable and big. High ceilings and clean. No ice machine, they take too long to bring you ice, plan in advance. Extra $15 for destination fees (basically the water bottles in your room). Friendly staff. Would stay again because it s centralized and nice. Wish they had a pool though.

I found Silversmith because Palmer House was booked, and what a lucky surprise! Desk staff is friendly and helpful, bartender is friendly and helpful, doormen/valet are friendly and helpful. The man at the door remembers me, asks how the day went, and I think he really cares. You don't find that everywhere.

The room is huge by Chicago standards. It's one of their premium king rooms, with two windows, high ceilings, a classic feel with modern amenities.

The furniture in the suite is cool, not overly comfortable to actually use, but I'm not using it, so who cares. There are two TV's, but they kind of went on the cheap on the resolution, but who cares. A couple of the pictures are hung too high, but who cares. There's a fabulous mirror element above the desk that's amazing, kind of a deco look that must've been difficult to install.

My room is over the el on Wabash, but you can hardly hear it. In fact I enjoyed the sound of the train going by, no louder than the fan from the heater in the room. Washington/Wabash is the station, with the Madison stairway going right to the hotel door.

The bathroom is large, perfectly appointed, excellent all the way around. The took the tub out for a bigger shower, which I like, but if you like to lounge in the tub, you're out of luck.

Target is next door so you can get food and hooch just a few feet away. Amazing Chicago arts venues less than 5 walking minutes away. My students love the State Street shopping.

All in all, a wonderful experience and an excellent value all the way around.

This is a cracking hotel. The room I had whilst rather dark was very spacious and tucked away in a corner. It was almost like a mini-suite as it had a sofa area with its own TV (as well as there Bing another TV in the bedroom area!).

Lovely bathroom and facilities. Even being right next to the loop which rumbled along 2-3 floors below my window it was a pretty peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. My only gripe was that it was a shame there was no tub, just a shower (albeit a spacious one).

The whole theme of the hotel is silver (a link obviously to the name) and it certainly feels quite the glamorous boutique hotel.

The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I ate dinner in the restaurant just the one night but it was very good.

All in all I was very impressed with this hotel and will stay here the next time I'm in Chicago.

The Silversmith is a great hotel, in a great location in downtown Chicago. The rooms are very clean, and elegantly decorated, and the fitness center is beautifully located right above the street, overlooking the train. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and even told us how to use the train and not get lost. Only complaint would be the restaurant - service for breakfast was very slow.

Our stay at Silversmith was perfect! The staff was curtious and attentive. Our room was clean and beautifully decorated. The building itself is amazing and the location is excellent. It was a short walk to CIBC theatre, Millenium Park and many other downtown atrractions. We got a nice deal on the room though ebates and they upgraded our room upon arrival which was a nice surprise.

Their staff were always attentive to the guests and would always smile whenever you pass by. Also, the interior and lobby are nice, modern and classy, it is a good place to sit, sip a cup of tea while reading a book or chat with friends. Everything is worth your money. One of the nicest places we stayed in. We'll definitely come back!

Cons outweigh pros... I'll look elsewhere next time.

Pros - The rooms are nice and spacious. Very urban and modern. Big glass showers! Close to everything. Very nice staff.

Cons - No drinks! And I mean nothing easily accessible. Water? Nope. Mini bar? Nope. Vending machines? Nope. Room service? Nope. If you want anything, you have to walk yourself down to the bar or to the 7-11. There's an ice bucket, which alludes to some sort of machine somewhere, but no. For this price, and no room service, I expect more.

Con con - If you do decide to go to the bar as opposed to 7-11, expect to pay 'water in the desert' prices. I got a coke and two waters... $15.50.

Phenomenal location on Wabash, right in the middle of the Loop. Blocks from Millennium Park, the river, the Art Institute, etc. I was also really charmed by the fact that I could see the train tracks out my window. The hotel is a very well-maintained building with modern fixtures and decor, and just a hint of old-timey character. The rooms are gorgeous and spacious. They boast dangerously comfy beds and couches, high ceilings, and enormous windows. Service was impeccable, including room service & valet. (P.S. I'm in love with the orange & bergamot scented bodywash.)

I have stayed at the Silversmith Hotel several times before. This time I checked in on Tuesday - 07/31. I was impressed by clerk, Patty who checked me in and made sure my room is ready. The room was clean and properly aired. I had lunch at Ada's Deli - everybody was very courteous and helpful. Silversmith is located in downtown Chicago close to the train station, which makes it convenient for me to fly into Ohare, take Blue line to the hotel. I strongly recommend this hotel.

2 stars since they had a hidden fee for what they call UPGRADES or in the business a Resort Fee. (Robes, 2 Bottles Of Water, Infused Water In Lobby and Umbrellas if it rained) I would have had no problem paying this, if it were upfront, but got charged days after. Very shady. 2 Stars, since the phones looked like they were built in 1998. 2 stars for the uncomfortable spring mattress I'd slept on. 2 stars for not providing coffee in the lobby, but "hipster" infused water. The coffee in the room was ok, nothing to brag about and on the last night the housekeeper, refilled with only tea. With all said and done if staying in Chicago, pay a few extra bucks and head elsewhere.

Very nice hotel. Charged $20 per day "destination" fee that they never discussed at check in. I booked through my company travel site, which states that the wifi is included, so it's difficult to understand what the fee is for. Seems like a rather shady practice.

Update. I stayed there again. At check-in, there was no mention. On the agreement you sign at check-in, there was no mention except a $60 per night incidental hold. Very shady business practice.

Everything was clean and staff was friendly. The room was really nice, little small but it's not a big deal, bed was super comfy. It's right in the middle of downtown so you can easily leave your car with them and walk around. It's really cool that you can leave your car with them til 5pm, even though check out is around noon. The vallet situation is pretty slow. We got there pretty late so our car sat out front for at least a couple hours. And when we left, like 30-40 minutes to get the car to go home.

We are in a suite for the same price as a room at most downtown hotels. Comfortable and quiet. You can hear the trains, but they sound like the ventilation system coming on. Staff is very pleasant and attentive. Very good security as well. You can not go up in the elevators with a room key. My only concern is the lack of safety bars in the shower.

Customer Service: 5 stars

Customer Service: 5 stars
Distance to entertainment: 5 stars
Family Friendly: 4.5 stars (no childrens menu)
Cleanliness: 4.5 stars
Hotel Decor: 4 stars

2-Double beds, Deluxe: very comfortable beds, awesome house keeping

Perks: wifi, flat-screen TV, fridge, One-Touch service delivers ice to room, city-block away from Millennium Park, steps away from State Street shopping center (Macy, Target, Block 37)

Issues: first night, we reported room issues right away in order to not get charged their $60/night incidental fee. Front desk kindly apologized and noted info into our account. Manager later came to our room (we did not ask for a manager, front desk did not say they would send manager) to apologize and to also check out the problems we had w/ our room. The next day, everything was fixed by the time we returned to our room for lunch.

It s was just okay for the price. Vale parking took forever one time they forgot to get the car. And I found a bedbug, there was only one but they didn t even try to make it right. Mediocre at best. Look elsewhere for a room, you can get much better for the price they are charging

Location absolutely perfect, staff super friendly but the extra fee they charge doesn't make any sense as they are not offering anything extra that should be already included in the standard rate of any hotel of it's category.

Friendly staff, pretty hotel, definitely not 4 stars. The amenities are just not there. They sneak in a $15/day destination fee, which is for internet and water. Come on, any other 4 star hotel in the area in 2019 has internet and water included. No smart TV or Bluetooth speaker for music, either.

There was a mix up with my hotel reservation, the front desk were very accommodating by referring me to a new hotel, calling the substitute hotel and offering to get me a cab. The man at the front desk was very friendly and empathetic to my plight. In what could have been a very stressful mess was easily and quickly handled.

My husband and I stayed at the Silversmith Hotel during the first weekend of February. We booked our stay based on the positive reviews that the hotel had received. Both my husband and I were impressed with our beautiful room and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. The bathroom in our room was huge and nicely decorated. Even though we were near the El, we never heard the trains passing the hotel. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who would like a very enjoyable stay in the Loop.

I had a 3 day class in the Fine Arts Building, so I mainly picked this hotel based on a fairly close location and positive reviews I read on Google Hotel Finder (great "app", by the way). Like another reviewer said, it has a nondescript entrance, but the rooms are quite large (unlike the Palmer House, where I've also stayed at before). The front desk and bell/door/valet staff are very friendly and the housekeeping service even left a thank you note each day for the tip I always leave for housekeeping (So, I left a little extra the last day with a thank you note back!).

The lobby is large and cool looking, they should have a happy hour there. The fitness center was small, but serviceable. Free internet service. Coffee maker in room. Also, a very large in-room safe!

The TVs are new 42" flat screens with around 30-40 cable channels (lots of USPNs for you sports nuts). It was an LG and very clear. No paid TV anymore.

My room was away from the EL, but could still hear it. However, it DID seem to slow down late into the night until around 4 or 5 am, where it seemed to speed back up to full speed again. Not sure, but that's what I perceived. Also, my room was very close to the elevator, but could NOT hear it (I think it helps that the rooms are very deep).

I had an adjoining room (closed) doorway, and I could hear what sounded like 2 different guests on different nights. One was a very loud 25 minute male phone conversation, but fortunately ended at around 10pm. The next nights sounded like maybe a couple, but not near as loud. I think if there would have been a wall, not a double thick door, I wouldn't have heard them (does anyone ever use adjoining rooms any more?). Maybe putting a vat of removable sound-proofing in between the doors would help, and take it out if there was a need for adjoining rooms.

Having said all that, overall the experience was very good, and since I wasn't ever there during the day, this is mainly for the mornings/evenings/nights. Plus, I can only comment on the exact room I had (on 9th floor).

Ada's restaurant & bar is nice enough, but I ventured out most mornings/nights (there are plenty of options within walking distance for breakfast/dinner and also lots of 7-Elevens/Walgreens/CVSs, etc.).

Hope that helps.

Booked with third party website that describes room occupancy different then what s available. At check in Management handled it very poorly with threats and more cost.

Staff at front desk is extremely polite and helpful except one women that couldn t be bothered with our questions.

Hotel rooms are very modern, clean and comfortable. Although house keeping never visited the rooms and we had to call down twice for items.

We travel to Chicago regularly and like to try different hotels. This year we chose the Silversmith. What a good choice it was the staff are lovely and eager to please the room was spotless, the bed was really big and comfortable. The addition of a coffee machine was a dream. It is in a ideal position for the shops, park, lake and museums. We will not bother to look any further it will be the Silversmith every trip for us now.

The staff is super professional, friendly, and helpful to new visitors to Chi-town. The rooms were great! Really clean, quiet, and peaceful. To say that the location is convenient would an understatement. You're, literally, steps from the Orange, Brown, and Green Lines of the "L" and just few blocks away from the world famous Millennium Park. The perfect vibe for a sexy in-town "stay-cation" or urban "get away with bae". Really can't say enough good things about this hotel. Will definitely be staying there whenever I'm back in those neck of the woods. Two thumbs WAY up from me!

We reserved 2 beds and only received 1. They didn't want to help they said we had to contact whoever we booked through. A homeless man walks in asking "how much for the night" and the lady didn't even let him finish his sentence responding "we're all booked" treat everyone equal!

Very disappointed in this hotel. We booked a standard king sized room, but instead of telling us it wasnt available they just pushed it to the next weekend. When we got the confirmation email saying that it was for the wrong weekend, we called and they explained what happened. So we corrected and said we wanted the right weekend. They told us they only had a "allergen free room" that was $100 more!!!!

We were leaving the night before so we didnt have a choice. When we checked in the valet couldn't find our name. When we got to the room we found DIRTY UNDERWEAR ON THE FLOOR!

There was long dark hair in the shower (my partner and I both have buzzed hair). Every single towel I grabbed was dirty. Some had red smudge, some had black. Others had this brown freckle stuff.

And our lovely $350 room had the view of a brick building next door.

Staff was friendly, but unapologetic to our issues. Decor was lovely in the room and the lobby. The air and heating in the room was immediate and easy to use. The wifi worked. But I wouldn't call this room allergen free or worth the price. I'm not convinced it was ever cleaned. And I definitely will not be returning, especially with a price so steep.

Had a very nice stay this week. Big comfortable.room. Great location. Upscale without being too pretentious.
Would give it 5 stars but one of the front desk women we had to deal with a couple of times was unneceasaruly short when we checked in and seemed unhappy every time we walked by her and said hello. The rest of the staff were friendly and attentive.
