GREAT service! I will never forget to tell all of my colleagues and family about this wonderful hotel. I am very happy and satisfied with their welcoming and excellent manner. They never fail me on my high expectations. The rooms were also very cleaned and organized. Thanks a lot for such a wonderful service. Strongly recommended!
There was some mix ups with what packages we were supposed to receive, but after that was figured out it was a fine place to stay. Very close to the theatre and other attractions!
I want to thank the amazing staff of the Silversmith Hotel for everything they did for me on my last stay in December.
Upon arrival for business I realized that I had forgotten my laptop! It was being overnighted by UPS and everyone at the hotel was so compassionate about the situation and went above and beyond to help me.
From Enrique who has the best greetings and was stopping UPS trucks passing by to look for my package to the front desk staff who were also tracking for me. It was not my first stay and the staff is what makes the choice easy. They're always accommodating and communication is excellent between shifts. I appreciate their recommendations and sincerity. Not to mention ideal location near anything you could want or need from shopping to transportation or tourism.
Special thanks to all who helped me especially; Enrique, Beverly, Kaneshia, Errin, Michaela, Jimmy, Ashley and Keyna. Please forgive me if I leave anyone out you are appreciated.
I have been staying at the Silversmith for the 10 years or so. It was nice prior to the renovation, but it is amazing now. The decor is great, and the quality of the amenities are excellent. The staff is always helpful. There is a newly renovated train stop right outside, making it easy to get anywhere. Close to all of the major attractions. The area has really developed around the hotel too.
This review is long overdue, but I just booked my second stay for the Silversmith and I felt as though it was warranted of feedback. First off, the Silversmith is situated on the Mag Mile -- a short walk from the Buckingham Fountain, Cloudgate, and Michigan Lake. We were last here in September, over Labor Day Weekend, and I could not have been more impressed. It was quiet at all hours, from the lobby to the top floor. Not from lack of patrons, but a communal respect of each guest's needs and appreciation for civil respect. The front desk agents were accommodating and friendly, and I wish I could write more about them. However, we were well cared for from check in to check out, so our communication was limited. The room was clean and spacious, opting for a 'Deluxe' floorplan that came a suite-like setup but without a standard room price tag. We had a sitting area opening up to the "bedroom" area that faced the other buildings. Not a huge deal for a cityscape, since we were going to be out in the city anyway. There were so many different cultures represented in such a tiny walk, finding a new cuisine wasn't difficult. We even walked about 1.5 miles for bottomless mimosas at brunch. Valet parking was affordable, considering parking for the same class of hotel and area in Manhattan or Los Angeles would easily double the Silversmith's ~$50 daily rate. The cocktail lounge was posh and offered a wide selection of bourbons and vodkas, making this ol' Kansas girl an aficionado for imbibing. Cocktails were relatively priced, depending on your selection, without much akin to location rather than quality. The Silversmith allowed me to feel "at home" without a typical tourist interaction but still respected and obliged my needs as a guest. I couldn't name a place that is more focused on valuing their patrons from start to finish than the Silversmith. Being said, I rarely write reviews; and as statistics show, those who do are either highly dissatisfied or highly satisfied. I pronounce the latter!
I recently stopped in the night of the Oscars. To my surprise they were showing it on their big screens which I had hoped. I was able to enjoy a beverage at the bar while watching a few categories. I thoroughly enjoyed the staff , the ambiance, and the location in the Business Loop!
The staff, especially Beverly at the front desk, were exceptionally accommodating and friendly! The room was immaculate. I have allergies and stayed in a room with an air purifier. I could not have been happier with my stay.
One of my favorite hotels...anywhere. They mix comfort and chic perfectly.
Was at this hotel during riot fest. I enjoyed it as it was right next to The L, and let us take the pink line which brought us nearly all the way to Douglas park. Could barely hear the L from inside the room was nice, room was always clean when we got back from each day of the concert. Was a very enjoyable stay. Might even stay here again for next riot fest.
Very trendy looking hotel. The staff at check in were fantastic. Great location if your doing business in The Loop. Solid happy hour specials at the bar. Last but not certainly least, THIS PLACE SMELLA FANTASTIC!
The service is good but the prices keep going up. Sign of the times.
Beautiful, clean and comfortable. Best service as well.
Great decor, clean, and comfortable. Room service came in a box instead of on real plates on a cart. It was difficult to eat in such a small room with to carry to pull up to the bed to eat. But the service was great and the food was fine.
Very clean and EXCELLENT service all around. Great location and very reasonably priced. Highly recommended!
Staff is very nice and helpful. Rooms and bar area were all clean. The Bed and blankets are all very comfortable and clean.
Had an excellent stay here, would definitely return! Very well located near the theaters.
If you visit Chicago, I HIGHLY recommend staying at The Silversmith Hotel!!! We almost overlooked it because it's a boutique hotel we haven't heard of, but it was so nice!!! The room (and bathroom) was very spacious, it's within walking distance to a million local attractions (save $$ on taxis), the decor was fancy, and the customer service was excellent! We will definitely be back!
Lovely location. A very nice and comfy room for a business trip. The price also was so good. And especially their staff who valued their customer. All the wants they give it to you. They served great food as well. All in all, I give them a thumbs up! A five-star rating for this hotel. I will definitely visit this place again.
Deceptive rates online that won t let you confirm your reservation ON THEIR MAIN WEBSITE and make you call the hotel that will give you different more expensive rates. Ridiculous and unprofessional practices.
My review is for the bar/lounge on the ground floor; I was not a guest of the hotel. The ground floor is nice. The bar sits in the middle with the lounge surrounding it. There are TVs on the walls and the ambiance is very relaxing. The hotel sits right at the new Washington/Wabash station which is a good complement.
Beautiful rooms and the staff was very gracious on an extremely busy NFL draft weekend
I Will start off with the positives. Very nice hotel front desk staff is great. Rooms are quite nice(stayed in the deluxe king). Bathrooms every nice and modern and quite large. Not to many amenities(gym, restaurant and bar), but the ones that are there are nice. Free wifi is very hotel-ish at about 3 Mbs. Now the not so good. The Train: if you are a light sleeper this can be a deal breaker. We had to try 3 different rooms at three different location to lessen the sound of the train. The train is adjacent to the hotel. The staff was very friendly, and helpful but it did take about an hour of trial and error to make it work. They do provide ear plugs(we were not informed that this was an option until room 3) if your are a heavy sleep this should not be a worry. The restaurant, while being nice it is sort of an after thought. I took advantage of breakfast and dinner there several times and everytime except a late night bite at the bar ended being a search for help to order. The food was great everytime. Severely understaffed, a bartender and 1 person for a restaurant sized space. It is centrally located to everywhere which is nice. There is almost everything next to it and that was great. Overall a pretty good experience with some flaws. If you find a good price and are aware of the above it should be a good stay.
Conveniently located, great ambiance, good service and very confortable beds. Even though is right next to the train station, you won t be bother by the noise. Easy check in and out. Nice lobby area.
I stayed at this hotel this past weekend - alone. I felt extremely safe and the staff was amazing. The room was gorgeous and the shower was sooooo dreamy. I will always come here. There was some construction going on but the noise was very low. I enjoyed my stay.
Attentive staff, comfortable rooms, and a great location!
Very nice, Great rooms, great staff just need more assistance with luggage at checkin and check out and valet service retreaving car. Parking is pricey.
Great hotel! Rooms are spacious, and just a couple blocks from the Millennium Park.
Excellent, friendly, helpful staff. Great bar and dining area. Right downtown. Close to a lot of attractions and dining.
Intimate, cozy room, polite staff, and good location. I am appreciative of the shuttle service to the conference.
The service is fantastic. Everyone is very friendly. Our room has no view
Rooms are okay, service is okay, the location is amazing.
My family stayed here for 4 nights. The room was really clean and nice, looks like it was recently refurbished. Only complain was the double beds were on the narrow side. Fantastic location with lots of restaurants and the attractions like Millennium Park and the Art Institute nearby. Also near to 3 subway stations with 7 different lines and you can get to the hotel from O'Hare via direct train in less than an hour.
Got the room at a reasonable price, cheaper than many hotels in our 18 day US trip. Although there's a train track right in front of the hotel, we couldn't hear it at all, not sure about the rooms facing the track.
Amazing modern decor. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Located near many things. Mostly walking distance away.
loved this boutique hotel. was excellent for our weekend getaway
Room accommodations are very nice, sofa cushions were flat and sofa sleeper was flat, bathroom fixtures very nice, room 905
THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL. The rooms are spacious, modern and cozy. The only aspects I didn t like: there was no audio equipment to connect your phone or iPod & the bed seemed too soft.
I would stay here again. The bathroom was amazing.
The hotel is nice, the room was clean, the layout is a little odd. The complimentary water each day is nice as well. My biggest complaint is that parking is 63 dollars a day for valet, but it is hard enough to find parking and it was late so we did the valet
Great location, very friendly staff, the room we stayed in was well kept and really roomy.
Staff was very friendly. Location could not be better for Hamilton or other shows, shopping, millennium park etc. Try using SpotHero app for cheaper parking at grant park garage, just a block away from hotel.
The place is very modern and up to date. The rooms are spacious and nice. But they could be kept cleaner. We found remnants from prior guests.
Favourite hotel in Chi-town! Fantastic staff. Highly recommended
We were there in September for a 1/2 marathon and came away very impressed with the hotel, the hotel staff, the bed and room size and also the hotel bar. Excellent location and again, an outstanding staff. We will stay there again on our next trip for sure.
Great location! The room looked great and was clean. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend
Nice if generic rooms. Comfortable bed. Friendly staff although they seemed understaffed on check-in. Daily "destination charge" seems ridiculous to me.
Very simplistic monotone beautiful hotel. Very nice service with friendly staff
My boyfriend and I stayed in December of 2015. My first time in Chicago and it went great, thanks to the Silversmith Hotel employees. Great customer service from the time we walked in to the time we ended our trip! The room was very stylish, glamorous, and had great lighting in the bathroom. Speaking of the bathroom... it was HUGE!! Very clean, with comfortable beds with a cool plug in to charge your phone on the night stand. Bennie showed us to our room and he also was so so nice and helpful. The location of the hotel is very convenient. Just 1 block from the Bean and half a block from the train/subway. There are many stores near by such as Macy's, Target, H&M, Nordstrom Rack, Starbucks..etc. I would definitely recommend staying at the Silversmith Hotel!
The best. We will go back. Even though it's small we love the food, room service, location is perfect. Parking is pricey but there are alternatives. Right off State St and the old Marshall- fields. Great neighborhood. Can't wait to go back. So glad my hubby found this place. Oh, prices are very good.
I love this hotel! Great service, awesome lication, and welcome atmosphere on every visit
Great location near the millenium park and other attractions. Big, clean room and service has been excellent.
Great room, good location in Chicago, all around great experience.
Cool room but sucky view. Great staff. Also no drinks in the small fridge.
High ceilings..Nice, clean, inexpensive and near everything. The staff is very pleasant.
My partner and I just stayed for three nights at the Silversmith Hotel.
I'd go back in a second. We were fortunate enough to encounter Beverly each day we were there. She's a star. Her personal recommendations and easygoing attitude made us feel right at home the minute we checked-in, and she made us feel sincerely appreciated when we left. Everyone was great, but Beverly is truly special. I'm a 15 year veteran of the hotel industry, including 5 years at the Forbes 5 Star / AAA 5 Diamond Shangri-La hotel in Toronto, one of Canada's top hotels, and I know a standout superstar when I see one. Kudo's to Beverly!
The room was beautiful, just like in the pictures. Our view was relatively terrible, admittedly, but with the "good views" facing the L trains, this isn't a place you'll go to for the views. . .
The ceilings are super high, giving an added luxury feel to the standard size rooms, and the bathroom was huge and nicely decorated. Molten Brown amenities are a lovely bonus.
This past trip was my first to Chicago, and we had a great time. If we ever go back, we'll definitely stay at the Silversmith.

The room was nice, the window opened slightly which I loved. The sheets smelled wonderful, very clean, almost like they were dried on a clothes line.
Location is convenient, staff was very friendly.
Felt odd calling for water. The bottles of water and coffee in your room is unlimited since your automatically paying $20 a night (didn't know that when booked).
Valet is $63 a night and you get unlimited leave and come back.
It's definitely on the pricey side.
Oh the TV setup wasn't great, limited channels, HBO was the Hallmark channel, some channel quality was poor and to see the guide you'd have to go to channel 43 and let it scroll, you can't scroll and highlight what you want to watch, you have to type in.
We received a complimentary upgrade due to being VIP Expedia members. This room has a separate living area with a desk. The bed is located in a separate room as well. The wasn't a view of the city, but overall the room was spacious and clean.
The man at the phone was arrogant, snide, and not at all helpful. What's worse , he had an obnoxious southern accent that would have left me nauseated after a positive encounter. Hey, Dixie: SCREW YOU.
Everything was fine except for the fact that there is no microwave in the room and pit in a request for one every night I was there and each night they were "unavailable" overall the place was beautiful and very fun. I would totally recommend.
Wow this hotel is the real thing totally classy staff awesome.
Nothing special... at least the rooms are big I guess.
They hit you with an extra charge if you book through a 3rd party site, even after you paid "in full" through the 3rd party. They justify it as a charge for among other things, the internet, newspaper in the lobby... lol.
Best staff you could ever have..specifically... Mr Greg Johnson and Ms. Patty the desk personnel. They both made our trip fantastic!!! Couldn't have maneuvered around the city without them. So helpful and happy. Would absolutely recommend..rooms are nice, clean and beautiful!
The Stuck Family
High ceilings, gorgeously appointed rooms, almost floor to ceiling windows. Bed was plush and comfy, but not too soft.
Guest services were A plus, even considering my high expectations.
I stayed during the week, so even the price wasn't unreasonable. Excellent. Highest possible recommendation.
Side note: I did not eat at the restaurant. I'm sure it's excellent, but Chicago has so much good food, we never got around to it. But the hotel is WONDERFUL. Stay here.
Second side note: pictures were taken after we had been here for two days, sorry for the mess!
I was very impressed with the courteous staff, safety measures, and cleanliness of our room.
Mr. Kelly and his team are some the most welcoming staff I've had the pleasure to work with in the hotel industry. Sharp, generous, always smiling, always asking what they can do to enhance my stay. Silversmith Chicago, two thumbs up and I give it 5 stars!
The bar in here is usually one of the easiest to have a conversation in while in the Loop
Room was great, service was great. We originally were directed to the wrong room but the staff apologized and could quickly give us another room.
Very nice hotel! Was there for a staycation in the city. The staff was extremely courteous and accommodating! Its in the middle if everything so walking is easy eenoug. Would definitely stay again!
We made a reservation for September 9th on the 11th of June 2014. It was confirmed and guaranteed by credit card. In the early afternoon of the 9th I called to confirm the room and told them we would be late, as late as 1:00 am but we would be there. They said it was fine. We arrived at the hotel at 11:00 pm. We were told that our room had been taken, there was a convention and no other rooms were available. We told them it was confirmed and guaranteed and I called earlier to confirm again and all was OK. They said they were sorry there was nothing they could do but to transfer us to another hotel.
We went back and forth and they were robotic in there "I'm sorry there is nothing we can do". Out came a mass produced form letter with the hotel's name and the name of the hotel they were transferring us to. By 12:00 am we were in the other hotel they paid for it, so the hotel was not at all comparable to the Silversmith. The form letter showed me that they must do this on a regular basis. It is shabby and unethical treatment. If you have a reservation at this hotel make sure you have a back up plan. They are certainly not trustworthy.
I think my brother stayed here when he came to visit.
The staff here was amazing and the room was in the center of everything! A must stay!
The "manager" of this AWFUL HOTEL said they'd make it up to me? HELLO! that was OCTOBER 2018....still waiting!! DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!!!
Very beautiful hotel and helpful staff. They got everything we needed and held our luggage until we could check in. Delicious food as well!!
Nice boutique hotel with a chic modern atmosphere and decor. Good room rate.
Great bar location for the Christmas light show. Room here feel more like studio apartment, hotel room free WiFi and appreciated the friendly professional staff!!
The room was a bit smaller than the picture. But great people classy look. The bar is placed perfectly for people watching. Overall I would recommend this hotel to a friend. 6
I agree with the good reviews here. Before staying here I read the reviews and asked to be put in a quiet room, which I was, but the view was of a brick wall. They kindly moved me to the front on the 7th floor. The front faces the train, but on the 7th floor I could barely hear it and slept really well. I'm checking out this morning after three nights. Priceline got me here for a great price. The attitudes of the staff are great.
Great service, well located and well decorated hotel.
We enjoyed staying here for a long weekend. The staff was super helpful guiding us around the city, the room was spacious (we stayed in a premium king room).
