Sheraton on the Park Review

We reserved and paid for our suite 1 week prior to check-in. We were informed by an employee from Sheraton Grand that he guaranteed the room that we requested.

Upon check in were were informed that the room we requested and paid for was occupied. We were too tired to show our disappointment. The manager gave us a room upgrade. The upgraded room was dirty (dust everywhere, the sheets appeared used and the cot sheet was like sandpaper). In addition, the room was incredibly noisy - the sound of a washing machine and V8 engine all night long we were in level 19.

We informed hotel management and nothing was done about it.

I approached the front desk the morning after. The employee was unfriendly, didn t smile and looked like she had been partying all night and had a severe hangover. For $1,300 AUD per night, we expected a higher standard of customer service and cleanliness.

Needless to say, we checked out after the first night of what would ve been a 4 night stay.

We will avoid this hotel in the future.

We checked into The Star Residences. 5 star, brand new interiors, significantly larger suite, better views and much more professional and friendly employees, for a fraction of the cost.

Lovely hotel. My room looked over Hyde Park. All staff very friendly and welcoming and addressed me by name when they could. Very spacious rooms, well maintained and kept very clean. The Sheraton Signature beds are fantastically comfortable. I want to buy one! My only gripe is that the F&B prices in room service and the cafe etc were outrageous. I realise that this is a 5-star hotel, but $10.00 for a bowl of cereal? $38.00 for a steak sandwich? I know there's no one forcing me to order these, (and I didn't - I ate out), but hotels should realise that instead of being greedy, they'd probably make a lot more money in their F&B outlets by making prices more reasonable - more people would eat at the hotel in that case! Yes, there's paying for a "5 star experience" in terms of rooms and service, but how do you have a "5 star experience with a bowl of cereal of steak sandwich?"!!! Small gripe, but that's 5 star hotels in the western world, I guess. Again, the lack of "free internet" is again, annoying. If a small 3 star motor lodge in the countryside can do it, I'm sure The Sheraton can do it. Most people travel with internet USB dongles these days, so if you have to pay outrageous prices for the internet in the hotel, they'll use their dongle anyway. Once again, greedy behaviour and if 5-star hotels do offer free internet and reasonably priced F&B then they'll get my custom every time. I know many other business travellers who feel this way. Aside from that, a lovely hotel. Great location, nice staff, well maintained and I would recommend it for business travellers or people looking for a nice city break in Sydney.

Spacious room with modern design and well equipped with enough furniture to make my 14-day-stay super easy and comfortable. Large and comfy king size bed with large tv in front of the bed. Very comfortable working station that keep me busy with work while staying here. Good location, near City centre and opposite Hyde Park. Food is yummy.

Seafood buffet was delicious, though for the price a bit expensive for the range you get. Very nice ambiance though, and great for a special occasion

Had a gorgeous Christmas function here - delicious food and lovely staff. Everyone had a great evening.

I am sure the rooms are great but been waiting for 3 hours to check in and still no room. I realise it may be a busy time and my flight arrived early but other hotels find a way at least for someone who s landed after a 20 h flight. Disappointed.

Would have liked to have the view that was advertised and we paid for.

Not much variety of seafood, shellfish was okay but not much other fish. Not much hot food to eat on the sides. Expected better sauces and soups but weren't many. They have a Woodfire oven but had only two pizzas cooking at a time. It was okay as first experience but wouldn't go there again

I wasn't there for long but it was a pretty nice place for a school formal

It's a decent hotel, with what you'd expect from a city centre Sheraton. It;'s just no outstanding.

The pool is medium sized and does for a workout (just) or relaxing stretch out. Rooms service is a bit too expensive. The Rooms are well appointed but fall short of "luxury".

Staff were pretty nice throughout.

So nice, I will be staying here again, but don't expect to be bowled over.

Me and two friends visited for their buffet high tea at a 12pm session. It was great so many delicious choices (mainly sweets though) from beautiful cakes, Kombucha jelly souffle, creme brulee to a chocolate fountain! I couldn't even try one of everything there was souch more to choose from. Wait staff were friendly. I recommend.

We ate at the buffet which was very nice and had a large selection of seafood and desserts. The service was also very good.

Just went for a drink at the bar on the second floor and a bartender, I think his name was Vincentio was really helpful and gave me a drink in a very smooth and friendly manner. Would recommend for anyone else who wants a great drink with great service!

While not a guest, the executive bar and lounge was absolutely amazing. The drinks and views alone and worth a stay.

The high Tea is extremely mediocre... no table cloths, no fine china, the desert was dry and we poured our own wine out of the bottle and overall is was so disappointing given I took my mum there for her bday. When booking I asked for a cake or something to come out for her bday and add it to the bill and nothing cane out.

Still as good as ever. Good rooms, amazing fresh linen. Very handy location. Home.

Cool hotel in front of Hyde Park, just few steps away from St. James Railways Station that connect Sydney Airport, big size and luxurious room, with 55 inches LED TV. Having Indoor swimming room, sunbathing terrace and gym at level 22, where you can also see Hyde Park, St. Mary Cathedral and Anzac Monument. Has also entrance to Castlereagh st.

Great high tea and couples spa combo. Highly recommend.

If you are in Sydney, look no further for stay. Have stayed there twice, bit expensive but totally worth it :)

Food was not as good this time as it was last year. Not sure what happened differently.

Wonderful hotel rooms. Spa is clean and services are divine. The Gallery High Tea Service was delicious. The service was attentive and excellent. The food was fresh and each bite flavorful.

Well located. Received a complementary upgrade to a newly refurbished Grand Executive room as Platinum member. Enjoyed a great breakfast in the Sheraton Club. Would definitely stay again!

Nice to stay. Note leaving your tvs on for hours before guests arrive with your splash screen burns the tv screen making it unwatchable.

I had a delicious high tea for my birthday, simply scrumptious savoury and sweet delights with glass of bubbly.Highly recommend .

I was at feast restaurant - no issues in terms of food but service was really lacking. Made many mistakes on the bill and I had to call up 3 times to confirm my booking.

Seafood Dinner Buffet? You are better off at the Star Casino Harvest Buffet or Shangri-la.

Oh and if you are staying at their hotel, make sure that you do not leave any of your belongings in their room when you check-out, cleaners will not just clean your room but your your items will disappear as well. Supervisors can guarantee that apparently.

The second floor all-you-can eat-buffet was amazing with many types of food ( soup, salad seafood meat etc) and from many types of cultures. This restaurant is sure to please just about anyone!

Very friendly staff. Nice beds great wide Breakfast choice. Nice rooms would stay here again. Centrally located almost opposite St James underground railway station.

Sheraton On The Park was great. I went there for a work conference and it was really well done and the food was excellent. Nice and convenient location right near St James Station

Great hair dressing salon. Very chic Maltese (Euro style) hair dresser who knows his stuff for ladies and men which is a nice change

Amazing service and luxuriously appointed rooms and guest facilities.
Located within a 2 minute walk of Pitt St mall and St James train station, and directly opposite Hyde Park you can not get a better location for a Sydney CBD stay unless it's a Water/Harbour view you must have(which will drive the price of a room up dramatically anyway).
Definitely worth spending the extra $$$ over a 3-4 star business hotel if you want a full service place to relax after a busy time out and about around Sydney.

While I have been a member of the Sheraton for many years unfortunately this will be the last. The service was average and the food was below average. I can no longer justify the price you pay to eat at the Sheraton seafood buffet.
