Went after hours, awesome band and music. Not for families at night.
Will, the manager of the bouncer (HA!), kicked us our because of ID's looked "fake"...mind you we got through airport security with these ID's, so how the hell does our ID's look fake to you but not TSA? He bent one of ID's to test if it's fake...what kind of back woods test is that? Will was sooooo rude and smug. Sorry you didn't get to become a cop Will, but that doesn't give you the right to live out your dream of being a cop through your "bouncer" job. Way to treat out of town guest.
To say the least, I should have just went to China buffet. Coming here for a special occasion is not a good idea as the dining style is more causal. The food was unsatisfactory. steak was cold and underseasonsed, fried shrimp was cold as well, biscuits undercooked and desserts were average. The food was not worth the money we paid since the quality of the food was below average. Paying over $30 a person, you would expect higher quality food. As a result I will not come back however the customer service was impeccable. They were prompt and friendly and recognized that my experience was unpleasant.
Clean with comfortable bed, good rate, older but sufficient. No elevator. Would have appreciated the one extra hour before check out, but I also understand time contraints...
One major problem with this hotel. They neglect to inform you that there club which is outside plays extremely loud music till 2 in the morning. This goes on all day which would be nice but it blasts into your room. We had 2 children with us who were kept up all night and it was quite miserable. If you plan on partying all night this isn't an issue, but as far as a hotel for a beach holiday to relax you couldn't do worse than this hotel.
Nice accommodations. Staff is very friendly. Pool is very nice. Nightly entertainment can be very loud.
Very nice. We have been there many times over the years. Always great food. Make a reservation so you don't have to wait in line. Well worth the waite though.
Beautiful rooms and very nice tiki bar and pool area. Didn't get to check out the night club but loved the atmosphere at night with live music. Will definitely come back again!
Beautiful rooms the go to resort in town for live music and some fun, had a blast here
Had a lot of fun. It was my first time there. The drinks are a little pricey, but I went there expecting that. Decent service considering the place was packed.
Ate at the buffet. Service was great and food was superb
Good place to hang out hear a band or radio tiki bar with part of the beach
This place has everything! So much fun! Dancing! Drinks! Pool!
A fun place. Nice condo layout rooms. Comfortable for long term. Super lounge.
Very good. Considering it was Christmas Day. The wait staff was very attentive and pleasant. The food was good with a a HUGE variety. The getting in and out of parking was the only downside to the evening.
Beautiful place. If one does not mind the music of the bands that play live
Parking wasn't validated after drinks, told we needed to spend more money.
Amazing, great price for amazing food and bottomless mimosas. Well worth it
We ate at the buffet for dinner and the food was great. Well worth the price. Had a couple of drinks and made our way over to the stage to listen to music and drink. The service was great and the atmosphere relaxing and fun. I recommend at least checking out the area if you are in Clearwater.
Shephards is great! The only reason for the four star and not five is the house keeping isn't great. They are good, just not great. Our shower walls still had somebody's red hair stuck to it. We found some hair in our sheets as well. The building is great, and they keep the grounds immaculate. Every morning you will see them working to keep it clean and when everyone has headed up to their room, the grounds crew is straightening and cleaning. The guys that you will rent chairs and umbrellas from are fantastic. They also have waiters and waitresses coming around seeing if you need anything on the beach and in the pool. Valet is amazing and accommodating. Overall a place I would stay again.
Excellent place to visit for a cozy buffet and night life of romance. Highly recommend.
These bouncers need a reality check, especially the little one with short man complex.
I would never stay here again!! Their service was HORRIBLE all the way around. It is definitely not worth the money. I can't stress enough of how horrible it was I have never experienced such a thing. Out of everything, the worse was the room service they would never pick up dirty towels or sheets nor put new ones out and when i went to complain to the manager who ever that was would not want to comfort me nor fix my problem.
Love the atmosphere and the drinks were fabulous. Definitely a spot you need to hit up.
I went there for the all you can eat buffet that opens at 5. It was about 35 bucks but the food was amazing and the staff was awesome. I would defiantly reccomend this place for the food.
great place only thing they don't serve cognac you have to wear a sleeve shirt to get on the inside and party
Mike and everyone else at the jet ski rental place there were awesome and very helpful. I highly recommend it and I will for sure be back.
Beachfront hotel great pool and tiki bar. If you want a beautiful beach wedding this is a great place. We got married on the beach and had our reception at the ocean view restaurant.
Beautiful
Excellent
Great atmosphere. Music on Saturday was not my type would go back again.
We had the Presidential Suite so... We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend.
They are rude. The food is only so so for the price. The saffron rice was dry, the salmon was way too sweet and the duck was left with a lot of fat on it. The calamari salad was horrible and the prime ribb wasnt rare it was raw. . The silver ware was disgusting. Then on top of that my sister became sick after we got there and the manager and wait staff were really rude.
I really love Shephard's! The staff is welcoming, the beds are comfy, the beach views are AMAZING, as is the pool, beach, lounge, etc! We will definitely be back!
We didn't stay here, but ended up enjoying their accommodations several times. The fresh seafood buffet is top notch. The nightclub is happening. Great view and atmosphere!
The beachside bar was fantastic and the band was great
I've been going here since I was a kid. Food is okay, definitely could use some help with service in a timely manner
Worst hotel ever!! Just ugly people and disgusting services and room. Don't go there. Honestly don't waste your time!!!
Excellent atmosphere. Excellent food. Excellent drinks. Great entertainment. The staff was incredible. We Had the Time of Our Lives.
Fantastic seafood buffet. Great staff. GO HERE!!!!!
We did not stay at or visit the hotel inside. However, the night time pool side entertainment was awesome. Great heated outdoor space, awesome live music, great service, delicious food, and tasty drinks.
I would have given it 5 stars but the Sat night bartenders were so rude. The rest of the days everyone was awesome. The food, atmosphere, and resort was clean and I'm sorry I didn't get the gentleman's name, he must have been a manager, but we saw him a lot asking how was our stay, he was incredible.
Spent most of the time in the night club, but the bar inside was very nice and drinks were poured correctly. Would return.
This was an overall very nice place. Right on the ocean, decent service, and located in a good spot.
Best brunch buffet around with seafood and all you can eat!!
Live music, right on the beach, in walking distance of many shops, pool is beautiful, view was spectacular, boat rides, lot of things to do, but though food downstairs was good EXCEPT the LOBSTER was over seasoned and got me sick the first night there had diarrea for 2 days and vomiting for one night til the next day. And, we didn't sleep on the other queen bed being it was freshly made yet there was black sand like stuff in it? Didn't dare sleep in it!
As a non seafood eater, choices are few and food wasn't tasty. Rained night we went so we missed band and were told we couldn't be given tickets for next night which was disappointing. My friends who ate seafood and crab legs said they weren't satisfying
Great drink selection, prices are reasonable. Overall good experience
Positive: We liked the option for beach or pool to relax. Very kid friendly atmosphere. We used both the beach and pool depending on the weather conditions. We liked that there was good food on-site and the live music outside was wonderful! We enjoyed ourselves very much!
Neutral: Not looking forward to my bank statements because I know we swiped at Shephards probably 20 times for food, drinks, etc. but it was nice that we had everything we needed right at the resort. One day at the pool was over $200 but we ate good food and caught a strong buzz.
Negative: Arrived and instantly had to pay a $100 resort fee (we booked everything online as a package so this was out of pocket) and we had to put down a hefty deposit. Then they informed us of loud music until 2:30am which we also were not aware of. In the morning we went to the beach to find it cost $25 to use the umbrellas and beach chairs. Nickel and Dime approach was not appreciated. Elevator to the 6th floor was broken at least once per day. Finally, on our last day we took a load to our car before checking-out and when i got back upstairs, housekeeping had already stripped the beds/trash and raided our fridge. I was shocked to find the beers in our fridge were already gone.
It was really good. The food and our waitress she came back fast and ask every 5 minutes if we needed anything.
Was there wed oct 3rd. It was a fun night. Great live music and good drinks.
I've always wanted to stay at this resort, now I can officially share my thoughts.
For 2 nights I paid roughly $500. I can honestly say I wasn't that impressed.
The valet parking and concierge was great. The check-in was mediocre. The agent at the desk had zero personality and didn't smile once. Her demeanor was very robotic and dry. There was no welcome to Shephards, welcome to paradise or anything in between. She didn't ask if I had any questions, but made sure to notify me of the $500 fine that would be applied for any smoking in the room or on the balcony. Really Shephards!?? Even on the balcony??
For a resort with a private beach, there were just SO many rules! You couldn't take your own beverage glasses out to the beach side, so no Yeti cups, reusable Starbucks mugs etc. You couldn't bring your own beach chair, nor umbrella.
When I stay at the beach, I want to look out at God's magnificent work, I want to see miles of ocean, as far as the eye can see. Yet, on our private beach, my vision was met with an overpass and buildings. Yikes.
The cover bands playing at the tiki bar were fantastic, in between their sets, a DJ played mostly top 40 or hip-hop. The food was decent at the bar area, but the cleanliness was a joke. You often find a table littered with trash and filled ash trays.
I blew tons of money having to buy alcohol at the bar, unless I wanted to keep going back to the room. Security is everywhere, watching your every move. For the majority of the day they wouldn't even let us open the umbrellas at the tiki bar tables (not even sure why) security was so aggressive.
The Ocean Wave restaurant had a great Sunday brunch which includes Mimosas, food was outstanding. Service lovely. I unfortunately didn't get to try the dinner buffet. Breakfast brunch was priced at $29.95- reasonable with the selection offered and view.
I visited The Wave nightclub on Friday and Saturday. The music is mostly house, mixed with a little rave/top 40/ minimal hip-hop. I come from the Florida break-beats and trance era where DJ's were on turntables and blended beautifully into the next track. Not just abruptly change the tempo into the next song. Such a bad sound. I barely danced. Only positive there.... $5 patron shots upstairs and access to the beach right from the club steps-and you can get in the water, if you dare.
The rooms are tiny, beds ok comfortable, decor meh. Bathroom very small and outdated with the sliding doors, safety hazard for drunken nights in my opinion. Room service only for breakfast until 11am. Otherwise delivery or tiki bar options until the Ocean Flame is open for dinner.
The website really doesn't provide much information.
First and last time visitor. I've paid much less at resorts with less hype and received top notch service.
Sorry Shephards, but you guys need to change a few things. Too many restrictions for the price.
Liked the beach access and convenient location relative to Sand Key Park, the local marina (dolphin encounters, etc.), an area grocery store, and gas station. The pool area and hot tub were inviting, and their on-resort nightlife scene was lively. Our room was spacious and had a great view. We didn't like that resort "access" was a surpising additional $40 and that we all had to wear the same bracelet the entire time we were there (including through showers). Plus, all parking was valet (even though complimentary, it became inconvenient) and that pool towel use needed to be written on a card with the front desk everytime we wanted clean towels, and they needed notification of when we were done with them. We also just about ran out of toilet paper and dispensed shower body soap, and our fridge wasn't turned on prior to arrival. Otherwise, staff was very friendly and the place felt clean.
Fantastic events! Great staff cant wait to go back.
