Union Square is home to one of the largest collections of department stores, upscale boutiques, gift shops, art galleries, and beauty salons in the United States. The public plaza is surrounded by restaurants and shopping boutiques. Many of San Francisco's best hotels are located here. Great place to visit! Will definitely coming back again!

Lots of coffee shops, restaurants and other interesting stores around to check out. It's a great place to chill.

We came to take that cable car to Lombard Street. I believe it was around $7 per person and the ride itself was really fun!

This is my go-to place in SF. There's always something or the other happening around here, last weekend I think was when they were giving Tulips. Walking around here helps you window shop or find some interesting bars/food joints.

Some good places to eat but nothing spectacular. Parking here costs an arm and a leg. If you're a tourist there's not much of interest here. I would save the time and look at the many other sights around San Francisco,. If you're feeling hungry or want to do some shopping, then this would be a place to go.

Vibrates with the energy of the city, an exciting and Central place to be. There's always something happening in the square which is surrounded by boutiques, famous department stores, cafes, restaurants, entertainment, hotels, parking garage, EVERYTHING- except the bay right here.

So many high end stores surrounding Union Square to wander around in. Our hotel was very close to Union Square so we took advantage of the $36/per day parking underneath union square. Our hotel charged $68/day to park. The park had art displays the days we were there. There are friendly security guards walking around the park that assisted us when we were scouting out the parking situation.

This place is the place to be for the holidays, the Christmas tree is amazing, it is a great set up to enjoy the evening with lights, ice skating ring, although the people working at the ice skating ring are no very accommodating towards children, it seemed like the guys working in the ring were more accommodating towards the young lady's that were in the ring, there needs to be a balance of workers in the ring, both male and female

This is a great location for exploring San Francisco history.
So much happened at this location and the surrounding area.
Take a free CityWalk tour here.
Emperor Norton, the opening remarks about the Emancipation Proclamation, how a hot young woman was modeled in statue here to later become one of SF's leaders, scandals, murders and film...all centered here.

San Fran was a lovely city, although the shear volume of homeless people was sad to see. Also clearly a lot of drug addicts and anti-social behaviour witnessed around Union Square and throughout San Francisco.

This is the center of the SF shopping district and is crawling with tourists. With that comes traffic, tour buses, bums, and pickpockets. The positives far outweigh the negatives. You can visit a large Williams-Sonoma, Macy's, and plenty of other designer brands and unique shops. If you're up for a good walk, it's not far to Chinatown, Financial District, or SFMOMA. A little further, but still walkable is the Ferry Building, North Beach, and Fisherman's Wharf. You can catch a tour bus, taxi, it Uber in Union Square if you'd like to go a bit further to Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, deYoung art museum, or Mission District.

Meh it's a nice square..shopping is good in all directions. Constantly packed with tourists feeding pigeons, gross. No locals hang out here. Everyone should see it at least once though, I suppose. If you want a really great view of the square, go across the street to St. Francis hotel, catch one of the elevators in main lobby, go to highest floor possible, once you clear floors 4 or 5 the glass elevator will expose you to 180 degree view of downtown along front side of the building. I did this a few times when I first moved to SF 14yrs ago, it's pretty breathtaking.

Its spaciously friendly, in that it is a well designed park. Lots of intimate nooks that give it a personal charm for park users. Also it is a very well kept park, everything is so tidy and neat. That one can't help but think there are secret police watching for undesirables and ready to act, when a transgression is detected.
But it is in the cleaner end of Market, where all the big retail franchise operations are located, so the city is obligated to keep it up for consumers and tourists.

Great part of town if you want to shop high end fashion stores. Lots of great names n brands. Biggest Macy's store in the US is on Union square. Its 6 stories tall, takes up a whole city block on and it's all Macys.
Beware of the area between Union Square and Market st. though. South of Union square is the Tenderloin district. AKA "the TL"... it's the part of SF they warned you about. Go around, it's easy- go up to Powell st. Before turning north, or go down to VanNess and then you can go by city hall on your way. Lots of parking UNDER Union square too.

The shopping in this area is very good, and well worth the visit. Not quite as good as Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, but it meets the needs of most high fashion and high quality consumers. The area is a little dirty and not well kept, but inside the stores its very nice. It has many of the same stores as Rodeo, but I prefer Rodeo to Union Square because of the longer walking distance between stores and the lack of advanced cleanliness.

Nice looking with plenty of shops and restaurants surrounding the square. Just be very aware of the overly aggressive homless that stalk the area. Head on a swivel. Ultimately this place is no different than any other urban shopping area.

Great place right in the heart of the city very close to the down town area. Flanked on all sides by good hotels, eateries/restaurants and great places to shop from. You also can purchase tickets to the famous tram tickets of sfo.

I liked this place. It's right in the middle of Downtown San Francisco. A busy place with malls, shops , offices, restaurants all around. It's like a commercial center of SF. We just had time in evening to just wander and hang around there and do some shopping. It's an upmarket area. A must visit if you happen to be in San Francisco.

Union Square is the perfect place to start your first visit to San Francisco. The square itself is surrounded by super chic stores like Bvlgari and Tiffany plus amazing department stores like Macy's. You'll also have the chance to see the historic St. Francis hotel operated by Westin. If you are staying at the hotel the glass wall elevators will allow you to take amazing pictures from above. If you enjoy walking around cities, downtown area, the shore, pier 39, tramway station and Oakland Bay Bridge are relatively close. I even walked all the way to Mission and Old Mission. Awesome experience.

It has a great location!
What I didn't like about it is that it's quite old, so door knobs are hard to open and it smells funny. Also there is no gym at the hotel but you a can use the gym from another hotel that is nearby, which I didn't get to use because didn't have time to go and figure out where it is, even though the receptionist was really nice and show me on a map how to get there.

Wonderful so lovely, just sitting and watching the crowd is fun It's worth a visit. The best part is you don't need a ride you can walk to all your favorite stores or coffee shops, restaurants.

It would have been nicer if some of the stores stayed open later than 7pm; otherwise, a great place for window shopping or splurging on a ridiculously luxurious item...or two. Also, the selection of high end items seem 'old' when compared to the selection offered in Vegas.
