Great shopping area, high end to skate and department stores. You will also find the cheesecake factory at the top of macy's here too.

Great music and vibe to enjoy a take out dinner on the benches
Always park at the underground parking when I visit SF. I have never had any breakins and I feel safe getting in and out of my car.
As expected! Cheesecake factory, Apple Store and lots of other places just a minute around the corner.
What can be said about Union Square that hasen't been said it fantastic
It's a great place to start sightseeing. Outdoors seats to enjoy a drink while looking at some art from unique artise. Lots of stores to go shopping from Macy's to other high fashion stores.
Central to all sight seeing in San Francisco, you can shop around in the famous brands around, or you can find a nice restaurant to chill, or simply jump onto a hop on hop off tourist bus to go around SF
Everything surrounds Union Square . Tiffany & Co., Macy's, Saks, Neiman Marcus, St Francis Hotel Victoria Secrets and so many great restaurants. You could spend all day just going back and forth
Among, the many beautiful places to visit in San Francisco, Union Square is the quintessential "go to place" of city life!
There are two cafes in the square and lots of seating to relax, chill, people watch and take pictures!
High end shopping all around to enjoy as well!
A great place to sit, relax and people watch right in the heart of SF shopping district. But with all the construction going on the full charm and beauty of the square is lost right now.
Me not a shopaholic but my husband yes. Christian Loubatin..got one pair of formal party shoes..
Beautiful little square in the heart of SF.
In the middle of some of the best shopping on the west coast.
Street acts often take place here.
One of the main tourist attractions in SF city. Surrounded by restaurants, clothing stores and much more
Great place to stop and watch the city for a while.
Well, this place is like the center of everything, simply put. However, as a tourist, there is nothing much for me to buy here as things are rather pricey. But the architecture here are simply gorgeous.
Point to note: If you're looking to buy something, I suggest going to Macy. Head to Lower Level (LL) to get a tourist discount card. Head to lvl 7 to Cheesecake Factory and an awesome view of Union Square and lvl 8 for bargains!
A nice little place to sit for a while during day time and seeing people passing by. Be aware of beggers and do not try to mess with them as they are very abusive.
One of the most famous squares in the world and having been coming here for many years it is starting to become Northern California's version of Rodeo Drive
Good fun place to visit for shopping and eating out.
Nice spot in the city to drink coffee and eat a bagel (so I did).
Great place for getting to know SFO's architecture and life style, appreciating art, music, maybe having a sip of coffee while doing all that! You can ride the cable car in case you want a quick tour all over the place, although keep in mind the wait in line is about 1~ hours for the ride!
Fairly easy to park in underground lot. Easy to get trams from here
Take a relaxing stroll at night or shop around the various fashionable stores, visit Macy's or Cheesecake Factory, Apple store or simply window shopping. A lively place for everyone for different events or what not, a tourist stop for most.
Must see visit if you are in San Francisco, specially for the first time. It is close to some of the main cable cars' stations. I personally love the view from the Cheesecake Factory located inside Macy's.
Great place but a lot of homeless people that might be aggressive...
Great for people watching, just sit with a coffee and watch the world go by.
Under construction right now. Many homeless people targeting tourists for handouts. The surrounding area has many high end stores, but I won't be returning to this area by choice.
Vibrant plaza, always good for a latte & people watching.
I would say it's over rated, but it's a fun place to go.... Once!
Lots of shopping and public transportation here.
Definately worth a visit if you're wanting to do some shopping.
BART stops here and will take you directly to SFO airport. You can also catch buses or the cable cars here.
I met a gentleman from New York. He said he was a tourist like me, and someone had stolen his bag earlier in the afternoon. He wanted to know if I had $1.30 for the bus.
I offered to take him to dinner with my family and drop him off at his hotel, since he was a tourist.. you know, like I was.
He declined.
This is a pleasant open space in an otherwise crowded down town. A little sketchy at night (SF had a large homeless/vagrant community), but still safe. Last night there was a busker with his bagpipes, and he was quite good!
Ya, not into the dirty City and tons of homeless. Shopping was over rated, crowded, like my home town mall. Seagull and pigeon poop everywhere. It was depressing seeing the wealthier all around the homeless. Slept up on a 7th floor hotel and still heard a homeless bucket drummer between 2 and 4 am, thank goodness he was very talented!
Just enjoyed all there was to - even with the construction
Everything is boarded up the city looks like it's broken down
Nice place to chill and take in the sights of people passing by. Good modern art on display and to buy. Plenty of steps to take a seat on if its warm. A space to catch your breath after trolling around the adjacent China town.
Its nice if you have lots of money.if not get hoofing it unless your on a bike, then all is awesome!
Great place lots of designers clothing stores, great restaurants and lot of things to do within walking distance.
This is really a nice shopping center plaza but not a park. There are few trees and a lot of cement, and all kinds of stores next to it. I do not know why they call this a park.
Union square is so magical during the holidays. I love the way the tree sparkles at night
Forget to say that really awesome place. Pliease take me back
Very high end clothes and jewelry. Lots of art in the square. Supposed to be beautiful in winter at Christmas time.
Year round, you can catch the true hustle and bustle of the city by the bay in Union Square. The store displays are stunning. The crowd is international- almost every passing conversation is in a different language. It is an outstanding place to people watch and take in the city. The spring display in the center of union square is full of fragrant beautiful flowers and the city is really coming alive. The ice skating rink and gigantic Christmas tree in the winter, along with the holiday displays in every store fill you with the spirit of the season. In fact, most special events are decorated for and celebrated in some fashion here. And, of course there is all of the shopping. If you can't find what you are looking for in Union Square, it doesn't exist!
tourists are everywhere, but for good reason. there s just so much to do, truly an iconic part of being in the city. just make sure you re looking ahead for people who stop in the middle of the sidewalk to take a picture.
Amazing place for shopping and recreation. You can spend hours buying the perfect dress, or simply browsing through the countless high end stores, or eating in little cafes where the owners place the seating out on the sidewalk to give it an extremely European feel!
Pretty good place to hang around! Lots of original paintings and photographs on sale around the plaza. A good place to start the Historic Cable car ride of SFO to Fisherman's Wharf as well.
Lots of shops, restaurants and street performers. Similar to time square by with out the tall buildings and lights.
As a whole loud and crowded with stores and restaurants that cost more than they should but still some nice atmosphere
Great place to people watch and watching the Christmas tree light up is the bomb... my dentist is also here and easy to find cheap parking... shopping is also fun after any appointment
I came after New Year. Staffs are removing the Christmas tree.
Renovation recently just finished. Regularly cleaned by its staff. A very good place to spend a sunny day for both locals and tourists.
Enjoyed a cappuccino and gelato on a glorious sunny day before shopping. It was heavenly
Day or night there is always something happening here. The square is surrounded by shops offering all sorts of fashion, restaurants, and hotels. The landscaping and decorations change throughout the Square, depending what time of year you go. There may also be some musicians playing for tips when you go. It is a nice place to walk around and enjoy the City.
A great place to sit and relax... Especially if your a people watcher.. Nice ice skating rink during the holidays
Nice grass area to take your dog to go potty. On a side note, please pick up after your dog.
Stayed at Bartlett Hall by Union Square. Great area of San Francisco - theatre, dining, bars. Cable car runs from here to Ghirardelli so there's also great access to the Embarcadero, Fort Mason, and the Presidio. Easy access from SFO via BART.
Very happening place. Great place to catch a Hop-On Hop-Off tour, grab a cable car or see some of the upscale stores that are near by if that's your thing. Many restaurant choices close by as well.
A very happening square between all the buildings and blocks. It has a small cafe as well as lots of open space to sit around. It's accessible for physically challenged people with ramps provided wherever required. I liked the vibes of the place, no matter what time of the day one go there, it's always welcoming and bustling with crowd. One of the places to visit when in San Francisco.
The place in San Francisco one should not miss. Full of life.
Great place for shopping eating and drinking or to just chill out
Live music and great scenery. Can be a romantic and family friendly place to stroll around
The heart of the city! So many shops, restaurants and everything you want to do. You can do it right here. Very popular area in SF
Hanging with my Hubby, Aunt & cousin. Such a fun night
Pretty with lots of expensive shops; Tiffany, Victoria secrets, Macy's. Cheesecake factory at the top of Macy's is really nice and gives a good view. Parking is a problem in union square from what we could see, you would have to find a parking spot on another side street and walk back I think.
Love the view from the terrace of the cheesecake factory
