It's a great location in the heart of downtown SF, but often not well managed. Cleanliness an issue (so much so that serious large rat problem in evening!), and sometimes entire Piazza is bought out by some corporate entity so you can't even walk through. Luckily a couple very nice cafes provide an opportunity to grab a drink and enjoy the space.

Union Square is the Heart of San Francisco. Surrounded by high end retailers and fancy hotels, there is always something happening here. Pillow fights, critical mass, ice skating, public art and more, it's a great place to feel the beat of the city.

It was underwhelming, the 2010s generation of "revolutionary" hipster businesses is now getting demotivated, sloppy, and ask for even more money, too many methheads and drunk campers were bothering us, two blocks from here OD'd people were literally sleeping next to their own excrements. I've been here 10 years ago and it was beautiful. Whatever happened to this city?

The center of the city in many ways. Hotels, shopping, restaurants, theaters and more. Even the cable cars run through it. It's not quite a city park in a traditional sense, but more like a space with no real function other than to gather, to think or to observe others. Fun fact, it's called Union Square because this is where the protest support gathered for the Union in San Francisco during the Civil War. This may be surprised some people

Loved it. It was a bit "New Yorkie".. similar atmosphere. Missed the tree lighting by a day, so I think we got a hint of the new Xmas crowd plus leftover thanksgiving family visiting.. busy but pleasant.

Historical, picturesque, lively, fun, crowded, busy, loud, diverting. Parking below square, nice stores, great restaurants and hotels. Train station under construction and difficult to approach by car. Take public transit. Great for holidays and summer outdoor dancing.

Great area to shop, IF you got plenty $$$ to spend. Best hotels, Louis Vuitton, Macy's, Tiffany & Co, Cartier, Shreve & Co., Prada, etc. Fine dining. Basically where tourist, business people or event visitors come stay.

Union Square plays a very significant role in stabilizing San Francisco's lifeline, and does so with quite a beautiful, magical, and often surreal approach. All too often, I have wandered off the beaten path on my evening commute to walk through the square as a reminder as to what really matters in life. Shopping - sure! Countless tourists from everywhere - you can count on it. It reminds me of the kind of cornerstone one might admire in ancient architecture. At the end of a day, albeit tough or perfect, Union Square always adds cheer. Always!

Very interesting. The center of the shopping district. If you like high end shopping, mixed with street performers and real city atmosphere, this is the place. Lots of activity options around this active city square

A central location to group or regroup in San Francisco. The square itself morphs depending on events in the area and your relationship (or lack of) to the events. For me, whenever I go to San Francisco, it always feels like a starting point to orient myself.

It is really pretty but there is nothing so special about the actual squar in the middle when is not christmas. I think the best part is the Macys building and all the the other things it has inside. My favortie is the cheesecake factory at the top/roof of the building and has great view(and food) .

right in the middle of the hustle bustle of san francisco is UNION SQUARE an iconic tourist attraction that hosts some of the nice places to take photos and rest between shopping sprees. Unfortunately there is constant construction in this area and that can be such a pain when youre really trying to squeeze in the nicest prettiest photo ops that you can get. of course once the construction is gone the square will be BETTER THAN EVER!

A popular shopping mecca, as well as a sunny square for people watching and a break from the shopping. St. Francis Hotel located in the district. It is a heavily traffic area, pedestrian and auto. Underground parking available Validated parking when shopping at Macy's. Also there is major construction underway. The City is extending it's underground rail system.

Definitely somewhere to see when in San Francisco but there isn't much to do here. On weekends there are often community events like art shows etc. But other than the statue and some coffee shops it's just a big concrete slab in the city.
Many of the tour buses drop off here so expect to get hassled by tour guides.

Lots of high end shopping, including Macy's, Vera Wang, and many many high end boutiques. Not really for average people's budgets, but at least you can window shop I suppose. Next to the Powell St cable car stop too. But close to infamous Tenderloin district, so be careful!

San Francisco retail and commercial hub features high end shopping destinations like Saks, Tiffany, and Gucci, hotels like Hilton and Campton place, nearby theaters and restaurants, and of course, the fabled cable cars. A trip to San Francisco should include a visit to Union Square!

Today me and my niece literally shopped till we dropped and had a ball doing it! I love Union square it's so beautiful! Only thing I wished about it was in 2019 racism is so very prevalent and apparent everywhere you go. Good ole USA! SMH!

There are some nice restaurants and hotels in Union Square, but the homeless population is disturbing. There are some streets that smell so foul from urine and trash that they are unbearable to walk down them. There was a particular schizophrenic who was very loud and hostile. He would engage real people in an angry rant, but he was completely delusional. If I return to San Francisco, I would avoid Union Square, there are other parts more enjoyable.

Great place for people watching. Lots of benches to rest. The open space is clean and inviting. There is a coffee cafe and other vendors. It is directly in front of Macy's. It sits on top of a public parking structure.

Union Square is a nice, photogenic park in the heart of downtown. It is near to many restaurants, shops, and hotels. With heart-shaped sculptures at each corner, it's a popular tourist destination. I have not attended any events at Union Square, but based on the location, expect crowds. Also, below the park is a multi-story parking garage. I often circled the park looking for street parking before realizing this.

Most happening place in San Francisco Downtown. There is a lot of place to sit, relax, watch the high-rise buildings around, people skating in the ice rink or relaxing after a long walk around the town. Always buzzing with crowd whether day or night. Plenty of restaurants and upscale stores nearby. Though dining here is expensive, there are certain good ones if you search for. Cable car stop on Post St. An art exhibition is always there in the center of Union Square by CA Arts. If you live close-by, you would love hanging here all the time. Looking to come back soon.

Union Square is a beautiful area designated for tourists and locals alike to relax and enjoy the beauty that is San Francisco. Events are often held here like ice skating and the lighting of the Macy's Christmas tree during the Christmas season. I enjoy sitting and even eating lunch here quite often.

Nice area. Something between a park and an square located in the city's heart. To me this place is an invite to relax. It feels quiet and a lot of people is just relaxing here. The square is surrounded by impressive buildings like Macy's or Tiffany. I like it and you'll probably see it in most tourist's checklist.
