Union square. What a great place. The homeless and the dirty sidewalks, the smell of urine take away from the greatness. Have the shop keepers never heard of a pressure cleaner with a turbo tip to cut thru the filth to clean up the sidewalks.

As a native San Franciscan born and raised and still here after more than half a century, I have to tell you I never tire of this particular business and shopping center! Union Square that is owned by the City and County of San Francisco and comes under the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Recreation and park Commission is always a favorite with tourists from all over the world! It is also a favorite with we natives! Union Square is actually a park and it provides a wonderful environment deep inside what most people would refer to it as a commercial and financial district of San Francisco! Fortunately the San Francisco recreation and parks department has made sure there are a number of amenities and eateries right in Union Square not to mention all of the upper scale retail stores such as Macys and Gucci and the like! Always a great place to stop and buy a little coffee and a pastry and some other little tasty goodies and enjoy the atmosphere not to mention that often times there is great entertainment secured for your enjoyment! It's certainly no wonder that people from all over the globe like to visit Union Square and create their own memories! Yes the historical Saint Francis Hotel is directly across the street!

Great shopping and sight seeing. Parked in the garage and did some window shopping in union square and walked to the Metreon. Only a lovely 13 min walk away. I went on a Sunday. I left paying $20 for a 2 &1/2 hr stay. Lots of homeless in the area.

Ideal place for shopping.
I had a brief visit at union square in the evening. This place is very busy filled with lots of shops and restaurants. It is also an ideal place to buy branded goods and hopefully, ladies would like this place a lot. Overall the place is safe to travel and I didn t encounter any problem.
Time of travel: October 2018

I love UNION SQUARE so much that I hid the best trick play behind a picture of THE MICKEY MOUSE trap and showed it to a couple of hot girls. If you find it, have $5000 cash and be nice to the lady there or she will do some GET OUT magic trick on you.

It's a plaza. I'm not sure how much more to say. As plazas go, it's fairly large, I guess. There's some seating, more if you're willing to sit on steps and ledgers. There are a few places to grab food (and wine) on the plaza, but not enough to really make it a destination.

Union Square is one of the places that make San Francisco what it is today. It's an incredible venue spot and has great attractions during the winter time. If you live in SF but haven't discovered this place yet, or are visiting, I highly recommend going here.

Great outdoor space -- when I find myself needing to get away from the office during lunch, I'd take a 15 minute walk to and from Union Square. There are benches all around and lots of places to grab a bite to eat. I love the ice rink that they install in the middle of the park in the winter.

We shopped all the stores and then some. Tiffany's was a favorite of my little girls. She got the full treatment and ordered herself a charm bracelet. It's nice to have that kind of service these days.

Christmas time was fantastic fun! They had put up a magnificent tree, and a beautiful ice skating rink. The place had a lot of people and it was such a high energy environment! The building around were superbly lit up too, and it was a sight to see!

Even in other times, it's a very nice place to go to and sit for a relaxing time. :)

Located in downtown San Francisco, Union Square is surrounded by department stores, boutiques and hotels. The center features Dewey Monument, monument dedicated to George Dewey and the Battle of Manila Bay while the Hearts in San Francisco are located in each corner of the plaza. The plaza is accessible by foot or by cable car and trolleybus. The plaza is also a designated a California Historical Landmark.

This visit was to the Cheesecake factory for a late lunch. Be prepared for a wait, but it was worth it. Service was great, good food and drinks and of course the cheesecake. I would recommend using the pay parking as on street parking was scarce.

Visiting San francisco, we didn't know what to expect. A short walk from most area hotels, this is an open area for taking a break from the bustle. Benches and places to sit for nappers, readers, those feeding birds, etc. Bikes, skates and other low key activities did not interfere as it is quite spacious taking a full city block with surrounding landscape.

Conveniently, there are loads of hotels situated here, so it's easy to take a short walk from your hotel to one of the many stores and restaurants in and around Union Square. That said, most stores are pretty high end and pricey. This is a very touristy spot.

A must see here is the Macy's building, with several other shops in the basement space and the cheesecake factory right at the top. From here you can look out over Union Square, it's a pretty cool sight.

Very easy to find Ubers and other e-hailing services, and there are also many bus and train stops from this area, so it's easy to reach with public transport.
