Shangri-la's Edsa Plaza Hotel Review

Very good hotel with a friendly staff. The International restaurant "Heat" will provide you with Asian and western food. Really live the breakfast. Definitely I'm going to stay in this hotel again if I'm coming to Manila.

Nice place to stay and walking distance to the malls.

My family had a wonderful and amazing stay here, the employees here is extremely helpful, room very clean, we enjoyed eating at the restaurant the waitresses were excellent Husband and brother in law enjoyed the fitness center. The hotel was close to numerous and shopping mall. Overall we had a pleasant stay. We definitely be back over and over again. Never a dull moment. I want also recognize the security employees to give their best to make sure guest are taking care of. Main lobby lounge was amazing good entertainment was awesome, employees were extremely friendly (Wilma Hubalde and the rest of the team)

What else to say, Shangrila provides great service, great food and a relaxing place. Probably the only comment you could give is their pricing though they justified it with their service.

We stayed at the EDSA Shangri-La for 6 weeks and it is a gem of a place. The amenities such as the pool area are fantastic; it is beautiful although completely unpretentious. What makes this hotel 5-stars is the incredible staff who work there. They are without a doubt the most genuinely friendly and helpful staff I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. From the security guards and door people, to the hostesses and waitstaff, to the lifeguards or the pool/health club attendants; we were treated as valued guests as well as welcomed friends. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to staying there again.

Beautiful, well maintained hotel. Staff is friendly and polite. I love the uniforms that the women wear :-) Make sure you catch the breakfast buffet in HEAT, the on site restaurant. The variety and quality is fabulous! Great gym too.
And the hotel has a beautiful dog called Bronco!

My wife and I celebrated our wedding anniversary here. The housekeeping staff made our stay extra special by having cake and a little decor prepared in our bedroom when we arrived. Very nice! The staff at the lounge was also very accommodating. Even if cocktails weren't served yet, we were given cookies to snack on. Would love to visit again.

So-so, not your standard Shangri-La experience. Service is good, nice, & friendly. Excellent gym facilities. Hotel is well-located in downtown area, but area not walkable. Huge mall next door for good shopping.

However other features not up to par. Windows are dirty, odd smells emanate from the bathroom. Towel service is inconsistent. Curtain rod broken and wasn't replaced the entire time I was there. Cockroach in my room, was dead, didn't realize was there until I checked out. I didn't have a choice, but if I did, I'd try another Shangri-La.

Every impossible is being made possible. Ms. Anj of the Front desk, Ms. Wilma of the Lobby Lounge, Ms. Lui and Ms. Vina (both front desk supervisors) were exceptionally helpful to me. They made it extra special on my birthday.

As a first time visitor, I really had a great experience, overall friendliness of staff, facilities, everything. Nice Bake-shop with lovely staff and great coffee !

The staff is very friendly and accommodating. I had an effortless experience. Check-in was quick, so was the check-out. Room service was also fast. Prior to the check-in, we made a few emails to request some changes to the reservation and the staff was very quick to attend to these requests.

The service, the place and everything are excellent.

This is a Philippine paradise. As soon as you enter the Shang, you are greeted by their friendly staff who help you to your room. Enjoy the fresh banana bread muffins in your room and get settled in. The breakfast buffet is outstanding with food selections from all over. They have meats, cheese, indian food, make to order stations, soup, juices, pastries, the works. The pool is lovely and there is a kid friendly area. The spa is just amazing. The seasonal decorations are really enjoyable and the gym has all the equipment and classes you could want. The hotel is attached to a mall with tons of restaurants and stores, you won't be bored. There is also another spa located in the mall which is just divine. Great service and food!

Overall stay was great. From booking to check out. It all went smoothly. Front Office team were very helpful in assisting with wheelchair. One thing that sort of sticks out negatively is during check in. I approached the desk, greeted good morning the receptionist with a smile... no response... waited a good 2-3 mins... she looked at me like I was lost... ok just let it slip... didn't want to ruin the day... plus I was distracted by her bright red nail polish. I've worked in 5-star luxury hotels including Shangri-la and one thing HR always impresses is to tone down your make up unless you worked as an entertainer. Anyways, I checked in... done... she just waves her arm aimlessly towards the elevators. Wow! Just Wow! Anyways, didn't wanna make a big deal. It's Christmas after all.

I have always loved staying at the EDSA Shangrila Manila whenever I am in the metro. It provides me with all the comforts that makes me feel so at home.

The room was good and everything. Its just that the way Shang staff now answers to inquiries in general was just less than what i expected based on our visit before. Its like they don't care as much anymore.

Also the breakfast wasn't so good either variety is good but taste, not worth it, better to just eat outside

Edsa is hand down one of the best resorts in the city loved it here will definitly be back again..

What I loved most here:

Wifi is faster than the other hotels in the area. Pastries freshly baked and lounge are huge.

State of the art comfort room that looks like your inside the hotel room. Menu; viands and pastries price rate from average to expensive one.

Accessible to malls, schools, churches, other recreational places and gyms. I like ordering their coffee and cakes.

Events rooms are huge and you can also combined other rooma if you want additional space. Songs from different genre played also at the lounge.

They have promo also in their hotel rooms. Cinemas just across the other building. Outdoor activities and swimming pool awaits you too. For sure you will love here.

Very good high-end hotel. Connected to the shangri-la mall and 5mins from megamall. Pool and gym amazing! Bakeshop serves really good chocolate. Service good too. Must stay when in mandaluyong pasig area.

Excellent staff. Very professional. Excellent breakfast. Excellent hotel as always. Strategic location. But given environmental concerns and sustainability issues, please explore options of trying to use less plastics. E.g. currently you use tiny plastic single use water bottles, tiny plastic single use shampoo and body wash containers etc.

kids had a blast as always.. my daughter wrote "i love shangri la" on the room notepad and she was given an unexpected complimentary cake for it :)
love the service but buffet breakfast was chaotic as Heat was full on a Sunday so we were seated outside and my hubby was sweating during breakfast.. not an ideal relaxing Sunday breakfast

I recently visited the function room here. They were well equipped and the receiving area had enough space for small conversations. The view to the pool may be a bit awkward for some because you are in formal attire while you are viewing people who are enjoying the view of the pool. The food served was great and presented well. Service was also great and impeccable. They were all moving around and asking you if you needed anything else. All were very attentive to everyone's requirements.

All the positive reviews are true. The hotel lives up to its name- elegant, 5 star, luxurious. You feel like a queen if you stay here. Food is superb most especially at The Heat. Great location, in the heart of the Ortigas Center - all the malls are within walking distance- Shangrila Mall, SM Megamall, Starmall.
For tourists -You are basically in the middle of the metro. Just take the MRT to the North and you can reach Quezon City and other malls- Trinoma, SM City North. Further North, you can take the Bus till you reach Bulacan, Pangasinan, Tarlac, Pampanga, La Union, Baguio, Benguet, Mountain Province .

This is an excellent hotel in all respects. From ftont desk to all other services are of very good quality. Rooms are well furnished and well maintained. Varities of items are available in the complimentary breakfast addressing culture, habits and tastes of varieties of people.

My husband and I love having a nightcap at Lobby Lounge. We both enjoy listening to good music while having a glass or two of our favorite cocktail

My stay was great as always. Only problem was parking was full when we arrived and there was no vallet service available. We had to park at the mall and then transfer the car to the hotel in the evening. I think vallet should always be available and then maybe they can be the ones to park at the mall and transfer so your guests wouldn t have to walk to the mall.

The Edsa Shangri-La staff did a wonderful job at each and every touch point. I'd have to say my stay was extremely enjoyable and I look forward to returning. I wish I wrote down the names of each person I encountered as I think it's important that their excellence be acknowledged. At the moment, I recall Iris and Anji at the front desk. Like everyone else, they were extremely friendly and helpful. I travel all over the world and I'd have say from an experience perspective, I'd put your staff in the top 3.

The kids enjoyed the pool!..got complimentary pizzas and beer, too so the adults enjoyed as well. Staff are super courteous and accomodating ready to answer your every need and query. Great place for weekend staycations!

Breakfast buffet didn't have any new and exciting choices. Room temperature is erratic, sometimes too cold or quite warm, even if the thermostat was constant. You charge rent for extra empty glasses at P150. This is not standard for most hotels we've been to and frankly not sure why there should be a charge for that.

Great rooms in the city, very safe and clean. I would highly recommend.

My overall stay was enjoyable and relaxing. The Hotel Staff were all accommodating. My request for a late checkout was granted without any fuss.

I would like to commend all employees of Edsa Shangri La for being so welcoming and for ensuring that we're safe in the vicinity by reminding everyone to wear mask and face shield properly. Also, special mention to Ms. Janielyn Trinidad (Ghie Ghie), who went beyond her duties while handling my sister's special day. She's very responsive to everything we needed and handled all challenges impressively.

Staff was courteous and ready to assist with your needs and request. Amenities are world class and problems resolved immediately. Food is scrumptious. Most importantly kid friendly hotel...thank you very much until next visit!

This is our second time this year. I chose Edsa Shangri-La because my daughter loves the pool. To really maximize and enjoy our stay I even upgraded to the tower room. I want to commend Kevin during our check in. He was very accommodating and the staff in the pool also. The over all stay was good until our check out. Whilst processing our check out. I told my husband to sit in vacant place in the lobby because my 1 year old baby is a bit cranky and my eldest daughter is feeling a bit under the weather. After check out I decided to get some banana bread in the bakery. When I checked on them, they were not in the same place where they are sitting. I found them standing in the lobbyand my husband is frowning... saying: I m not going back here! I will tell all my friends and colleagues not to stay here. I found out that they were asked to leave because the table is reserved. We waited in the lobby for 30 mins-40 mins and the table is not yet occupied when we left the hotel. I respect the reservation but I think if they were nicely ushered to transfer to another place things will be much more better. We went there excited and we left sad.

P.S. I mentioned in the check out that the bidet is not working properly, loose thread maybe.

Five star as always. The scent is consistent all throughout any ShangriLa hotel. The staff and crew are awesome as always. Food at the Ballroom and Resto is worth each bite. Great rooms. Comfy beds. Would definitely go back. Could not have chosen any other hotels worthy of the price.

Shang always live up to the highest standards. Good place near malls and establishments.

All staff are very helpful and friendly. Their smiles makes you feel home. Very convenient if you bring your own car as they provide car parking for inhouse guests free of charge.

The stay was great. Room were beautiful and clean. Staff were warm and friendly.
I just wish you could be a little bit more sensitive on Muslim guest.
It is very difficult to find Halal food in Manila and the traffic is just so crazy that it makes you just too tired to go out to hunt for halal food nearby. So if it is not too much to ask for, perhaps the hotel can consider a section for Halal food. Just my two cents. TQ.

Rooms were old but maintained. Close to mall so you can dine just 5min away.Heat buffet was delicious and has enough choices.

The safeguards in place against the coronavirus feel sufficient. Service was exceptional. From checking in, I immediately felt welcome. The duty manager personalized the experience for me by offering available services. Wilma from the lobby lounge also provided exceptional service, she made recommendations on what best to try and was very friendly. Tess, from housekeeping, also reached out personally to check if there's anything else I needed. Guest services reached out to reschedule the room cleaning that was missed without me having to request for it. The attention to detail is truly unparalleled.

We experienced the renovated room and the old room. For the renovated room,everything was awesome. Clean room and modern bathroom. And for the old room/side, if you're not a smoker as soon as you enter the elevator you can smell the smoke. Our room was on the 7th floor. We had to ask and make sure if the room that we got was non smoking which it was, but we could still smell smoke in the room. The staff was nice enough to transfer us to the lower level cause we found out that the 10th floor was all smoking rooms. They put us to the 5th floor, where the room did not smell like smoke. The hotel is very close to shangrila mall and sm megamall. Pool and other amenities are good. I can go back to this place.

It would be best if Golden Circle members celebrating birthdays during their stay are given presents, no matter how small will be appreciated.

This place has aged and grown remarkably well. I appreciate that it's not as posh and aggressively luxe as the newer hotels in town, and I would now even claim that it's become my favorite Shangri-la.
