I wish I had an opportunity to go inside and feel the vibe of the place. I was told that many literature lovers come here to soak in the magic of Shakeseare.
Walking through a piece of literary and theatrical history is great, but having a funny and knowledgeable guide makes the experience all the more memorable. Suitable to all ages, languages, levels of Shakespearean education. I'd go again if I could.
A great venue for Shakespeare, sometimes the performances are epic, other times less so, but not to be missed if you are visiting London. Enjoy!
Best way to see Shakespeare, in an accessible, interactive way.
Everything is worth it... everything. A Bucket List goal... get on that stage. One day... one day.
One visit here to see The Magic Numbers. Very exciting even though it is a reproduction, great to get the feel of the original theatre. Good food with themed days offering contemporary food styles.
You cannot miss the play !!! Definitely worthy to come and watch it.
A must visit place to see at least one Shakespeare play. Can get a lot of aircraft noise on a clear summers evening.
Although the work was developed in English proper to the century in which the work of art is written, it is incredible to enter and see how the theater of that time could work. In addition to the views of the place that has the Thames ...
I got herpes from licking the floor and my iron lung fell off the roof with me inside.
Before the tour of the theatre a couple of young ladies displayed garments worn by the cast from differant plays. The tour was very interesting, telling the history of the previous globe. Ive been wanting to come here ever since I saw a Dr Who episide filmed here!
Amazing tour and very informative of what was going on during Shakespeare's time and how the theater functioned.
Saw a super fun production of A Midsummer Nights Dream -excellent! Lots of atmosphere & audience involvement making it a real theatre experience. A must-do! The location is of course fantastic esp on a lovely balmy night! Be prepared for no backs to the benches, unless in back row - or first row you can lean on the front barrier.
Fantastic atmosphere & memorable performances. Don't miss it
Beautiful theater, your visit is essential if you like theatrical shows.
If you need to be sent back in time to 16th century, then take a tour of the Globe theatre. Our guide was fun and charismatic! We learnt a lot about this amazing theatre and highly recommend the tour - do book in advance! There s also a costume demonstration about 30 minutes before which was also very informative. Great day out!
Beautiful reconstruction of an old London theatre, with authentic plays
Cool spot. Bit expensive for tour. Be sure to see the original site nearby.
Watched taming the shrew. Some actors are brilliant!!!
I love the atmosphere.. cushions and seat backs are available for hire, but I find it ok without. Cosy enough on a cool evening, too!
Just brilliant. If you have purchased seated tickets, you will need a cushion to avoid a numb bum. (hire or bring your own).
was very nice place to tour
staff was wonderful
Our tour guide was AMAZING! He is apparently also a director, and he definitely knew his Shakespeare stuff!
Even in mid-winter, an impressive venue and with productions from RCS, even better
Best show that I've seen at the globe this year.
Terrific acting & timing really bought Shakespeare to life.
Like a runaway train we were all drawn in to the drama of the moment.
Excellent extensive tour from knowledgeable guide. Plenty of opportunitues to ask questions. Clean facilities.
Interesting reconstruction of a theater from the time of Shakespeare, there is a guided tour but only in English. The last visit is at 5pm and the visit ends at the souvenir shop
The theater is very traditional, including the service staff are amiable and a bit old, making people feel very comfortable. The play is also good.
Had a good evening hearing the history of some of our early entertainment.
Great place to watch some truly stellar performances however also a MASSIVE health and safety risk! I went here with my sixth form to watch Romeo and Juliet and the sun was absolutely beating down, the lights changed on the stage and a woman in front of me in the pit collapses, she is quickly seem by an elderly volunteer and this volunteer just runs over and puts her hand up. Meanwhile this woman on the floor is very obviously having an epileptic fit, her head banging on floor, no one knew what was happening or was trained in basic first aid this should be addressed IMMEDIATELY as I spoke to someone outside who said every time they ve visited they ve seen someone collapse and the volunteers do nothing. Sort this out guys.
Saw The Tempest last year. Absolutely excellent. Groundlings for the win!
Great place to visit if you want learn the history of Shakespeare

History of Shakespeare in one place! Came here for a tour and another time to see King Lear
The interior is magnificent.
The performances are very cheap but very high quality!
Though one of the bag checkers outside was quite rude and unhelpful, all other staff were lovely and caring. The venue is absolutely beautiful and the snow itself was fantastic. Will be returning.
Seeing almost any play here is a treat. Fun, interesting, historic, you must go at least once to see how Elizabethan theatres operated
We took the tour and ate a sandwich. The tour was very informative, but the guide occasionally got lost in what he was saying. The crowd was very interested in the modern globe, but not so much about the history from Shakespeare's time. It will be great to see a show in the summer
Very interesting
I recommend the tour guide for the people how are interested in history and facts on the place
Went to the guided tour: the guide was friendly and had a good sense of humour. However I felt the tour was too short.
Although the whole experience lasted about 40 minutes, 10 minutes of it was spent on setting up headphones (which could have been handed out in advance upon arrival). I expected to see at least a backstage tour (like at National Theatre and Oslo Opera), but we were only shown the stage and auditorium.
I'd probably advise booking for an actual play instead of the tour itself.
Amazing and fun
They are very interactive with the audience
Probably very interesting, we took vouchers (reservation ticket) by an external organization. Although arrived at the opening the access was refused to us because the visits were complete and it is impossible to visit the Shakespeare's Globe in autonomy ... Remember to book well in advance via the website of the museum!
Not seen a show there yet but visited shop and cafe few times. Great place!
A very welcoming theatre, both in the "main" Globe Theatre and at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse. Groundlings can get cheap tickets in return for standing in the cold and the rain!
Absolutely INCREDIBLE acoustics! Really helpful and friendly staff. The play The Captive Queen was perfect!
Immersed in the history of English, unmissable theatrical representation
Worst experience in a theatre - taking political correctness to an unknown level bastardising a great piece of literature
Great venue, and with all due consideration to it's historical significance - the adjacent and more modern amenity building is really let down by its limited facilities and the bar selection is unusually sparse
Absolutely beautiful to see the reconstruction of Shakespeare's Globe. It is NOT the original one since it was burnt down but an accurate reconstruction from 20th century!
Nothing but the best for Shakespeare. Caught a viewing of "As you like it" and was positively amused throughout the whole thing. Brilliant.
It is of course a reproduction but it is fabulous. It is so well done you forget it or a reproduction. Stepping back in time you will relive all of your school studies, it makes history come alive. You can tour the theater and/or see a production. It is located in the Thames just down from the Tate Modern. It is a lovely way to spend a day. Great photo ops.
The tour was well worth the price. The tour guide really put us in the mood for what it was like in the original Globe. The building itself felt not quite "authentic" in that it's new but an authentic reproduction with great care to use period construction techniques.
Disneyland version of Shakespeares Globe, boring, stuffy productions, far superior productions at the Almieda, National, and bridge theatres. Emma Rice did a good job of livening the place up, but the stick in the muds didn't think it was appropriate. In truth it wouldn't survive as a working theatre if it wasn't for the tourists.
Excellent theatre on south bank of the Thames showing outside Shakespeare plays. Authentic design.
Tour of the globe was informative and entertaining.
Nowhere quite like the globe to watch Shakespeare. Home to the bard himself, steeped in history, every play I have seen here has been brilliant. Would definitely recommend getting the seats as the free time I've been it's poured with rain. Not fun in the open air standing bit.
Really enjoyed our day here, very knowledgable staff who seem to really love there job wish a a bonus. Gift shop a tad on the expensive side but don t let that put you off of coming here
Great spot to visit for anyone interested in Shakespeare or the theatre in general. The tour was so informative and interesting and the gift shop was well stocked.
gave me a better incite for my gcse in history for elizabethan england was worth the 4 hour journey down, would go again was quite fascinating in the difference of how we create building now a days to then
The original is gone, but this one looks quite convincing
Absolutely lovely place! I'm a huge fan of Shakespeare and the tour made me admire the man so much more! I highly recommend it for everyone!
Jeremy led an entertaining tour to give us insight to Shakespeare's works and their context within his theatre. A true treat for any theater fan.
