The visit is interesting if it is done for free but they did not have translators ... I got bored a bit because I did not understand the guide. She made us sit down and she talked and got long.
A must visit if any interest in Shakespeare or the history of plays. Also a lesson in the development of culture in London in the 16th and 17th century. The guides are outstanding in their knowledge of the period, theatre, and The Bard. Our guide was a Dr in Vampires and Ghosts literature and knew a ton about the Globe and its reconstruction.
Very cool if you have any appreciation for theater / the bard
An outstanding theathre. This is the reconstruction of an original Shakespeare scene. Being masters of Shakespeare, the performers on this stage are very talented and the personnel and guides are very polite, thorough and helpful. It lies just across the millennium bridge and is both easy to spot and access. I can highly recommend seeing a play or getting a guided tour here!
I went to see The Capture Queen and it was an excellent experience. The theater is very well maintained, it is heard well from all sides. Regardless of the work that is going to be seen, I recommend to locate, if possible, somewhere above everything. Although they are the cheapest tickets, it allows you to see the locations and imagine who would be seeing a work and who would occupy this or that place, there was it for all social classes.
If you want to see a play at the theatre you need to book it in advance. If you are a tourist consider to do it one week before the travel
We did a tour with a guided tour, very good ... !! Recommended for Shakespeare lovers. Recreated in a very realistic way, following the details of the time, entirely of wood and without any metal. Excellent reconstruction
Beautiful and slightly unconventional. Amazing drama, good price...just not very comfy seats;) :)
Brilliant! Spent most of the day on the tour and exhibition and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. Our guide was the icing on the cake, very informative and always entertaining. This is one of the best things I've done on many day trips to London. Thank you.
A place worth visiting, we came across a great guide. I would happily come back to the performance!
If you love theatre, history, building construction, this was great. We enjoyed the tour guide. The exhibit beforehand was informational and interesting
Had a great time watching a Shakespeare play here (Twelfth Night). The actors were great and the reversal of sexes of the actors was a fresh innovation that I enjoyed. The weather was great though, so I don't know if it's horrible there if it's raining since the floor is exposed to rain.
Love the place..... Literature pppllll this is the place for you...Must visit
The performance was spectacular (I attended King Lear). I was in the standing area and you are able to see the whole stage. The interaction the actors was what made it a completely different experience. I was able to get tickets on the day of the performance. The staff was very helpful with telling me where to collect my tickets and which queue to go on. Drinks and snacks are a little price but that is to ve expected of a popular tourist attraction.
A dive into the past, a place full of atmospheres, where the theater has made history.
Undescribable the feeling of being in the theater built by Shakespeare, where it was also the place of presentations of his works!
The guided tour was very informative It made us want to return to see a play. The few exhibits of costumes etc were interesting and the staff very friendly and helpful, would recommend a visit here.
A new version of the legendary playwright's iconic theatre. The theatre has been carefully built to match the original in every respect. It is close to the millennium bridge and a pier with ferry services along the Thames. Various plays are staged here on an ongoing basis and a literary buff can take the opportunity to see one of Shakespeare's plays performed in its original setting.
Macbeth was amazing!! The inside theatre was warm and comfortable. The actors and actresses were all brilliant! Bravo!
What a fun place to visit. Go for standing and get right next to the stage for the most realistic experience. Amazing.
A climatic place with scenery and choreography referring to the times of Shakespeare. For the fans of the theater and not only :-)
We were treated to a fantastic guided tour by a young fellow from Yorkshire (Max?) who entertained us in a Shakespearean manner for 40 minutes. Warmly recommended.
An amazing, authentic replica of the original 16th century theatre.
Beautiful and magical venue! I will definitely be back!
The refurbishment is done with all the details. The guided tour is highly recommended. Great spot for culture and literature lovers!
It's amazing what can i say our guide was second to none she was on fire explaining about Shakespeare theatre all about history of how people couldn't read or write and visited to educate themselves she was so so good marvellous
Come on it's The Globe! Had high tea in the pub and that was good. Seen plays too and they have always been to a very high standard. I love the building and its location is perfect, if you are in London the have a visit you won't be disappointed.
Great and interesting tour with a competent, friendly and interested staff. Very good replica of the old Globe Theater.
Very interesting tour even if you're not a huge fan of Shakespeare. The tour lasts about an hour and is mostly about the theatre and how some of Shakespeare's plays were written specifically for it. The biographical information about Shakespeare that's given is told in the context of the theatre so if you're looking to learn more about the man himself, this may not be the tour for you.
An obvious choice to visit while in London for anyone who appreciates British Literature. Make sure you allow enough time to go through the exhibit before your tour starts.
My favourite theatre in the whole world! Acting and directing second to none. You have to see Shakespeare here at least once in your life to be a real person.
Great place to be in. But needs some outside radiators in the cold winters of London
A must for everyone who likes theatre. Tickets are cheap but can sell out quickly so plan ahead to avoid disappointment. Lovely way to enjoy a play on a nice summer evening.
Very interesting and engaging tour. They've done an excellent job preserving the feel of what the original Globe must have felt like.
Unmissable place!
A landmark for culture lovers!
A great theater. Unfortunately I couldn't watch a performance because there are no performances in February. We were able to take a great tour of the theater. I can only recommend it to every London tourist!
The Theater for the people: Welcome to the Shakespeare Globe! A theater funded by patrons and lovers of Culture and Ephemeral Art par excellence.
Been here twice now, and both times were great!
The quality of the performances was brilliant!
The building itself is a replica of the original theater. Be prepared for cramped wooden benches, so hiring a cushion might be a good idea. Also, the theater itself doesn't have a roof (although the seated areas are covered), so it can be a bit cold or damp.
But these small imperfections pale in regards to the fun and pleasure received from the performances of the actors. Whenever you visit London, go visit! I know I will!
Loved watching a show here it really took me back to the past recommend to come here
An excellent venue. If visiting make sure you do the guided tour, followed by a performance!
Beautiful copy of real Shakespeare theatre, with awesome guides and loyal architecture, must to see it!
Fantastic day- great interpretation of A Midsummer Nights Dream! The building looks great although be prepared for quite uncomfortable seats. Be aware too that if you pay for standing they do insist you stand. Even tired children are approached if they sit on the floor. Also found it quite frustrating that you need your ticket with you to go to the loo or the gift shop- not good if you group booked and only one of you has the ticket.
Visiting The Globe was on my bucket list and it did not disappoint. Our guide was phenomenal and took his time, and was wonderful with our 18 very excited students all the way from New England. Seeing productions here gave me shivers of excitement.
Love The Globe. Always enjoy the production, cushions to make the hard seats comfy. Great ambience and location on the Thames
Awesome 16th century theatre experience! Dress warm as the roof is partly open!
Amazing place to watch theater, makes you go back in time and enjoy current theater in a different setting
Incredible place. We saw Twelfth Night and had a wonderful time. Amazing actors.
I have been a long time Shakespeare fan so how could I miss out on visiting the Globe Theatre. I could not see a play as it was the off season when I went but I did get to take a tour. It was very interesting and added depth to my previous studies and thoughts on numerous Shakespeare plays. It has a cute gift shop at the end too. Would highly recommend!
If you just want a tour (and not see a full show) make sure you go between 930am and 1230pm. The 2pm and evening shows block tour access
You need goes at least two times. One for the guide visit and the other for watch any of shakespeare play
Great place to visit. Fascinating and educational. Would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in Shakespeare or theatre
Our guide has been a London sun .. A very good experience
One of London's great sites of interest. An opportunity to visit and see history
Great tour! Loved the guide, he was really funny. The globe is alsof really nice to see!
This Globe Theater which was recreated by a group of Scholars and historical Architects was rebuilt in 1993 I believe but from what I understand is fairly close to Shakespeare's original design though it is much smaller.
An awesome theatre, beautifully arranged inside & outside, my dream of life. One who likes Shakespeare's plays, loves the author & the Globe Theatre as well. It is one of my most loving places.
It's like history standing in front of you . Loved every bit of it
