Last week, I brought my husband to this Emergency ...
Last week, I brought my husband to this Emergency Room at around 2:30 a.m. The night before, he had been seen by another doctor for Colitis, pain, dehydration, etc. He only got worse after that visit. He was so sick that he could not keep anything down, including even small sips of water and he was having violent abdominal cramps that made it difficult for him to stand and/or verbally communicate. After being admitted, we waited for about an hour and a half for him to see a doctor. When Dr. Kyle Halle entered the room, he asked if my husband was having tummy problems . My husband whimpered a bit and looked at me to communicate with the doctor on his behalf. I told Dr. Halle that my husband was having some trouble talking and I d answer any questions he might have. Dr. Halle dismissed my statement and asked my husband, Why can t you talk? Somethin wrong with your vocal cords or somethin ? My husband attempted to answer him while still looking at me. Without warning, Dr. Halle suddenly came in from behind and pressed firmly on my husband s abdomen. My husband yelped loudly in pain and grabbed Dr. Halle s hand to alleviate the pressure. This angered Dr. Halle, causing him to take off his glove and say You know what? You can go man! Dr. Halle then stormed out of the room. My husband now had tears coming from his eyes and I was left confused. I waited a few minutes and I went out to ask about what had just happened. I asked the nurse if I could speak to the Doctor because I was unsure why he had gotten so angry at my husband s reaction (which I believed to be completely normal given the circumstances). After about 10-15 minutes, Dr. Halle walked in aggressively and said to my husband (who was still in the fetal position on the bed), Oh, so you wanna talk now? My husband still could not reply. I asked the Doctor why he had left the room and I tried to assure him that my husband had certainly not acted maliciously and that it was simply a reaction to the excruciating pain and the abrupt pressure the doctor had put on his stomach. Dr. Halle replied, He doesn t look like he s in excruciating pain to me! Look at his vital signs! I told him that I didn t think that vital signs always reflect whether someone is or isn t in a lot of pain. Dr. Halle then yelled, Look, I m a Doctor and no one s gonna touch me! He then stormed out of the room again. The nurse came back into the room a few minutes later. I was crying, confused, and my husband had still not been helped. The Nurse told me that Dr. Halle was refusing to treat my husband. I asked her if there was another Doctor there that could do so and she said that there would not be another doctor there for over 2 hours. I told her that we were going to leave because my husband was in too much pain and too dehydrated to wait that long. I told her that I couldn t believe they would treat a Veteran, or anyone, so poorly. As I was gathering our things, I looked up and saw that there was a security guard standing in the doorway. I helped my husband, who could barely stand, out of the bed and the security guard began to follow us. He seemed stern in his demeanor and I asked him why he was following us when we were leaving peacefully. He said that Dr. Halle had instructed him to. I told him that Dr. Halle was basically throwing us out of the hospital and suddenly the security guard began to feel badly. He went and got a wheelchair and helped me get my husband to the car. After sobbing for a few minutes, I drove my husband to Metroplex Health System in Killeen. The doctor and staff there were very proficient and kind. They treated my husband for his condition. Dr. Kyle is very unprofessional. He also seems inexperienced and mentally unstable. I ve never seen a doctor behave this ridiculously in my life. This was a completely nightmarish ordeal for us. My husband needed help and at that moment, no one cared. My advice to anyone is to stay away from Seton emergency room and especially, steer clear of Dr. Kyle Halle.
