Christmas party. Wonderful building and surrounding areas. Multiple function rooms. Food is of a very high standard (turkey a little too dry for my liking. Christmas pudding cheese cake was sweeter than expected)

Went for a Xmas party and the food was awful, I have complained but basically couldn t care less. Have spoken to other people whose experience of this hotel is rubbish, including food poisoning whilst staying at the hotel. Keep away !!!

Will never stay here again. Gorgeous surroundings and entrance hall but once in our room well what can I say. Dirty carpet full of stains and creased to the point you could fall over. Window wouldn't shut and rotten TV had big crackers down it. I could go on and on. Complained and staff gave us another room which was boiling hot no air con and the room was a little cleaner but carpet still creased and the veiw was golf buggies and a rat catcher box right outside our window so disappointed. Breakfast was worse and absolute shambles. Very disappointed and will never return or ever recommend this hotel to anyone. Felt sorry for the staff they were very polite but all had sad faces.

Brilliant view from hotel room and the facilities are great. The food was top notch and included a perfectly cooked steak and the best, chunkiest Caesar salad I've ever had where the croutons and parmesan shavings just kept coming. The golf course is a tough one and there is no water there. The gym is very basic (don't bother if you're on Leg Day but the pool mitigates its size problem by having a unique island in its middle which allows you to swim in circles

Worst hotel I have been to. Even hotels in some of the poorest African countries I have visited had a better service than Selsdon Park Hotel. Very poor and disappointing considering the price and the supposed quality one should be getting. More

Don't be fooled by the grand entrance. The rooms are dingy with thread bare carpets. In serious need of renovation. Staff were rude and reception was only maned by one person at peak checking in time.

Wanted a short get away for a weekend from London. Wasn't that impressed for the hotel and brand we thought we were getting.

Food- 3/5 - had to send food back but what we did have was good. Breakfast was a bit of a joke. It didn't help they had a wedding and conference on the night before.

Rooms 2/5 very outdated and tired rooms, bed ok but overall really poor.

Facilities 3/5 restaurant and bar were nice and some ok seating areas, poor ok for a relaxing swim, gym had some good equipment. Rest of hotel very tired. And not very clean, toilets were disgusting.

Service 4/5 some really helpful and kind staff who were nice and talkative.

If you get a cheap deal then ok choice but not worth it otherwise

Nice hotel with swimming pool huge golf course and lively grounds to walk around! Food was nice and all the staff were helpful and friendly! Our room was a little dated but the rest of the building made up for that! I would recommend if you enjoy the old type building!

Awful stay. Hotel seemed to be empty yet was still given one of the rooms not yet renovated. This room was ridiculously warm despite the radiators not being on, I suspect it is over a gateway to hell. Due to the room being so warm, we had to Sleep with the window open all night which is why we found out at 1am that not only had we been given a shabby room but that it was located directly above the loading and deliveries space. Still breakfast was included so a chance at redemption, massive fail. The mushrooms and scrambled egg tasted just wrong, the bacon seemed more like it had been boiled, the hash brown were both limp and rubbery while the sausages were so full of grease and anaemic I can only assume they were cooked at a low temperature while covered in oil, on the plus side the beans were ok.

Not a good choice unless you are attending a wedding there or playing golf. Too busy and rooms noisy due to adjoining doors. Our neighbours were noisy until 0200hrs. Some reception staff seemed poorly trained.

Menu unexciting and portions small. Breakfast was good though.

Booked here for a surprise for my birthday with my other half... I don't usually write reviews but reading the bad reviews has got my back up a little. The staff were amazing all friendly and helpful. The building is very old and lovely. The views are amazing from all around the hotel. The spa area was very relaxing. I would definitely be returning here and would recommend every person to go here (who doesn't think their hotel inspectors or from four in a bed ) Do not listen to the bad reviews. They obviously have to much time on their unhappy selves

Really lovely. There is no Spa (website misleading). Family room good size. Other rooms small. Swimming pool very nice. Needs costume spinner in changing room. Bar drinks basic but lovely decor throughout. I would go back.

Fine if you are with one of the big wedding parties looking to drink through the night but we were not and between 11pm and 3am were continuously woken up by people drunkenly staggering to their rooms. Perhaps the hotel could rethink their allocation of rooms for families with children?

The hotel looks spectacular from the outside but could do with some internal modernisation, for example our room was roasting and the radiator didn't turn off!! To top it off I was given the wrong bag when I collected my luggage.

It should be a good hotel and the building has a lot of charm, I just think they fell short on the smaller things.

Having previously stayed at 3 De Vere hotels, both of which were of immaculate standard, this hotel falls short of the usual spec. It is a tad outdated both externally and internally and the rooms and most facilities could do with a refurbishment. The pool facility is however nice touch although it's adjoining facilities could do with a spruce too. The grounds are nice and well kept and there is loads of options for people who enjoy sports such as golf, tennis and squash. Not sure if I would stay here again or recommend it to others but I think it's worth a visit at least once.

SADLY, This place has left an sour taste in my mouth, when i went to the spa and ordered a tea it came in a PAPER CUP. I USED TO remember it came in a tea pot with an actual proper cup. THE SPA used to be IDEAL FOR Selsdon community and people who visited. HOWEVER, NOW the hotel has closed the gym/spa off to the community and doesn't hold any firework events or anything to do with the community. The membership is over priced and it used be 15.00 - 20.00 per month now is 65.00- 75.00 per month. When i last visited the rooms needed updating & grass needed to be cut, swimming pool cold, gym needs updating, steam room takes ages to get working, I feel the hotel is being NEGLECTED maybe, thats their plan. WELL IT NEEDS TLC. OVER PRICED FOR WHAT ITS WORTH. WOULD TEND GYM EVERY OTHER WEEKEND BUT DUE to MEMBERSHIP BEING OVERPRICED NO POINT.

If you go for the grounds or golf, you'll be ok..staff bit offish.
The heating was kept on whilst outside temperatures outside were reaching the 30's for over a month..so much too hot to sleep.
Rooms need lots of updating, mattresses disgusting. No fridge, broken iron, broken window locks. very very basic.
Breakfast was ok, only one girl was helpful and smiled (shame I didn't get her name, as only nice thing in the place).
Need to ask for more towels and although they were clean... they were stained and had been bleached white.
Needs loads of money pumped into it for it to be up to the standard they claim.

I booked a room for my parents, the hotel is nice but I think it's gone downhill in the past 5years. The rooms are outdated and the customer service over the phone is a complete shambles, too many departments you go through just to make a payment. The upside is the hotel is based in a beautiful area, if you pay well enough you might get a room overlooking the grounds rather then a air vent above the kitchen.

Well what an amazing weekend this was.

Well what an amazing weekend this was.

As you drive up to the hotel you are greeted by its spectacular outside as you approach in its long drive. This however is not even the best view of the hotel which can be obtained from viewing it from the golf course. (Little tip if you want to take some pics to make your friends jealous do so from the golf course at dusk).

We stayed from the Friday to the Sunday for one of its murder mystery weekends and it was such an immersive and brilliant weekend. Great actors, engaging plot and a great way to speak with loads of new people.

The food in the hotel is good and filling, the grounds are great to explore and the inside of the building is beautiful.

The rooms are clean, large, spacious with a touch of luxury. I agree with some people who say they are a little dated but otherwise great.

Well worth a visit.
