Gigantic shop, well worth a visit. Lots of everything and things to explore. Premium brands at premium prices and everything else is slightly pricey. Cafes, furniture, clothes, electronics, homeware, books, food... a wide selection of everything you need.

Selfridges is fun to shop for medium to higher-end merchandise, but a bit of a maze, and despite store signage, some of the departments like technology are difficult to find. Bring breadcrumbs to drop so you can find your way out. The staff is a good mix of availability without being pushy.

Ridiculously busy, lots to see, plenty of staff about to help if needed, the store was very clean and tidy until....my daughter needed the bathroom, we were told there were none on the floor where the food and coffee shops were so had to wait until we were done as couldn't really leave our things and good job waited as we were in the que the ladies for nearly a hour! Only 3 working/open cubicles, it was like walking into another place all together.

Selfridges is a great department store, it's always trying to improve the way it looks and always has amazing things. However, lately (before the xmas hype started) the service has been terribly slow for everything, from paying at different brands, to getting help. Even trying to buy a bagel took forever.

The salt beef in the Brass Rail Ruben is thickly cut, which I'm not a fan of, but I know some people like. It wasn't hot, which I sound disappointing, and the cheese was tasteless and became rubbery straight away (because it also got cold from the beef). The guy next me was was also upset because my half sandwich was bigger than his whole one. The service was nice though and pretty quick.

Only appear to be 2 lifts in this huge store, small ones at that, 1 of which had a life of its own and didn't respond to buttons pressed, just seemed to be going up and down randomly. Lift also not "patient", door voice telling you doors closing as soon as they've opened.

Brass Rail in Selfridges is easily one of the best affordable places to eat on Oxford Street.

Somewhat single-minded menu of Salt Beef but if it's that good why sell anything else?

Make sure to get a Fentiman cola, ginger beer or Lemonade. They are equally great.

Visited for the first time and only checked the men's clothing floor. They seem to have it all (I mean, all on the more expensive premium side) plus many labels I haven't seen anywhere else before. Have your credit cards ready! ;)

Visited Selfridge's in September 1999, before amazon was the de-facto for many people. This was a one stop shop for all one could need, albeit not at prices all would be comfortable or able to pay. But the attention to detail and personal touch was something that I will never forget - my visit was to purchase a suit jacket, last minute. My family was attending a wedding the next day and my suit bag was misplaced by british airways, who themselves were great, they instructed me to buy a replacement and they would re-imburse us regardless of if they found my bag. I am sure I just got a super empathetic employee from BA. the experience at Selfridge's was very spot on! I was fitted and ready to go within an hour and never felt like I was "bothering" anyone and was made to feel like I mattered!

Albeit these were not normal circumstances and I was only in London for 3 days, I've not seen the like in any other clothing retailer since, but I dont expect to, the way we do business has completely changed, at times i do miss the way shopping used to be, i would gove up the online choice for 1000000s of the same item to save 5 pennies, and visit a local shop instead.

its what the UK high street should be.
