It is the perfect size venue to go to a concert. I loved the decor, although the neighborhood was a bit scary when you walk out to go to wherever you could find a parking spot close .which we parked in a pay to park about a block away. But it's downtown so it's expected to see shady or homeless downtown. At the same time there were police cars that we're always circling and keeping an eye out probably for that exact reason. But it was a great night
I guess 830 is too late to see the band you paid $31 and fees to see. Main act was done by 1015....
We saw the band Elbow from the UK here January 18th and we had a wonderful time. Friendly staff, great drinks and a great view of the show in general admission. We visited the main bar during the day to check out the place and found the same. Good work folks, rock on....
First time working there; not a bad place to visit . Check it out.
Such an intimate venue, loved it! But I do miss having somewhere to sit. Saw them at Soma a few years back and this place is so much nicer.
Food, super solid. Playing a show in the small room, forget about it.
Nice venue. First time at a house of blues since they tore the old one down in LA. There is a big lounge off the lower stage level which was a convenient hang out spot. The restaurant is a big plus. The food was pretty good and we had a great time. Overall great spot. We will be back.
I came here for a concert and had a great experience. The room is just the right size for events to feel intimate. The dining room/bar area is really nice. Next time I'm in the area I'll make sure to stop for a meal and a drink.
Been here 2x... Both Excellent. Came here with my wife tonight for a show. Bartender, Eric, was so chill and cool. No stress at all and set the night off right for the show. Definitely looking forward to the next time!
HOB is a great venue to see a live show and play too. But like most downtown spots, parking can suck.

Venue is good but drinks are outrageously expensive for measured pours. There's a fine line between making a buck and taking advantage of your captive audiences. Suggest going out somewhere else beforehand.
Saw Jerry 'Hotrod DeMink, Saturday night 1/19/2019 ... FANTASTIC! Awesome show, was only going to stay an hour, left when they were done ... wanting more.
They fed Thanksgiving dinner to the homeless and it was good.
Food not so great but typical bar food. Great ambiance and music memorabilia.
Fun venue to see a concert. Very close to the band wherever you stand. Get there a little early to guarantee an unobstructed view during the show.
Great place to see your favorite artist! So intimate and the ambiance is great! Best part? The intimate size of the House of Blues is the best. Adjacent restaurant just as good and great prices. Good food!
The food was plentiful & quite tasty. We all ordered something different to sample: ribs, pulled pork, chicken, mac-n-cheese, baked beans, slaw, even the garden salad was good with sliced apples & pecans. No live entertainment the night we went since a local high school had rented that section for a function but the house music was nice. We were even given free tix to a concert downstairs but didn't make it. We were too full to do anything but walk back to the car.
It was a little place but it was beautiful and cool for concerts. It is very organized and that was what I love the most.
Fun place. Little pricey, but fun.
Great spot to catch local and national artists and rock bottom pricing.
Unfortunately they oversell every event I have been to . Sardine packing
The food was a presentation for us and very tasty. The food was just super and fresh. With Jessica, it was great to work. The presentation, the taste and the service - everything was perfect. Thank you, our dinner was perfect!
Awesome show with the kids...Aquabats and froggy fresh
Great venue. Catch the happy hour and spend $20 to skip the line into the show! The restaurant/bar has entrances on 5&6th Ave while the venue and box office are only on 6th. Have fun!!
We like this place for concerts and when you can go for a dinner first and then go to the concert later without having to wait in a line it's a good thing!
House of Blues. Is a great venue for music, good food and libations. Saw Dark Star Orchestra last night doing a GD show from Iowa 2/5/78. The sound system and acoustics in the house is amazing. Plenty of room to get your groove on or just relax in a comfortable area with plush leather couches and arm chairs to rest your weary bones. Smoking section was difficult to get to because it was all the way upstairs and limited to a certain number of occupants. We never got into that area due to occupancy limits. Servers were friendly. Everyone appeared to be enjoying themselves and having a Good Time! However, we had a little trouble using our $25.00 food certificate. It was not honored inside the venue. Only at the restaurant located on the backside of the venue and there was no way to get there unless you left the venue and walked outside and down a block to the 6th Street entrance. We were told we could use the certificate after the show. The show was over at midnight, we got to the restaurant at 12:07 and they had stopped serving food at midnight. A big Thank You to Adam the manager. We settled by getting 4 cans of Red Bull and a glass of Ginger Ale soda. All in all, we had a great experience. TIP: If you get a food voucher, eat and drink before the show, because you will not be able to leave and get back in once you have been inside.
We went to a concert. I can't believe it was legal to have that many people in the venue. We were packed like sardines from the stage all the way to the bar at the back. It wasn't even possible to sway to the music. We literally could not move. We tried to leave and had to physically push our way out. I suspect the Fire Marshal would have shut it down. Not a fun experience.
Always a good time, great performers and the gospel brunch is an absolute blast. There are front and back entrances open when busy on 5th and 6th
Seen Jonathan Davis, Everywhere was just AMAZING 2 see him & the Sound was the BEST......
Great Venue To See Shows!! Absolutely Great Food & Drinks!!
We had high expectations and heard very good things. Food week brought us in but we ultimately were let down. The food was "ok" and for it being such a slow night, we got seated in a weird spot away from being able to see the stage. I would be willing to try it again, but probably won't.
Cute bar with art deco decor. Great place for a date or hang out with 2-3 friends. Tequila Paloma cocktail I'm having is refreshing!
no seating. hands on body search. just a bar with a nice sound system..
Huthaifa was the first to greet me at the door. I inquired about tickets and he personality escorted me to the ticket booth. When I entered the bartender Tyler took care of me. The bartender Alysa serving in the voodoo room concert hall was also friendly.
I m 20 years old and this establishment sold me alcoholic beverages then kicked me out 10 minutes into a show and refused to give me my money back for the 5 tickets I bought for my friends and i completely security s fault never again San Diego couldn t be more upset with my experience here if I could give no stars I would
Several different stages, I went to Main stage. Had a bar that took cards/cash a second level for sitting overlooking the stage, and the stage was a decent size for an indoor venue.
Its always gets packed because they have good shows and resonable drink specials
Although small it is a great close and personal venue. Attached restaurant serves great food with offerings like front of the lounge passes and merchandise.
Havent had a bad experience here yet. - have attended multiple concerts
Nice venue, easily accessable and a good envirent. Much more enjoyable sitting upstairs though
Loved the venue for the show I attended, wasn't a fan of the tequila or the oj I got in my tequila sunrise. But overall it was a great place!
I still wish there was seating. But it was a good variety show.
Over priced drinks served in plastic disposable cups. No blues to be heard. Not even both kinds of music.
Livenation/Ticketmaster really soured what would have been an amazing show. The garage didn't honer the ticket I bought online. I had to pay for parking twice. About 1/3 the ticket was extra fees. It's 2019 and House of Blues needs to allow alternative ticket vendors.
One of my favorite venues in San Diego. The restaurant food is good, the drinks even better. They have a low key, laid back feel but I like that. It feels intimate and up close with the artists that perform and for me it makes the concert experience much more enjoyable. Prices are very reasonable for the location. Always pay the $20 extra at the bar or store. You'll be the first ones in and you can enjoy not having to wait in line.
It's a house of blues. Chain venue. Don't expect much.
Went for gospel brunch. Food was mediocre. Entertainment was great!
Had the chance to eat and watch a show with my wife here. I'm a California native, however have rarely ventured into San Diego (just for the obligatory journey to see Shamu). Lots of typical hippie culture as you approach the coast, but I found this club to have a rather unique character to it. The food was quite good, tried the jambalaya with shrimp and was as pleased with the shrimp as I was displeased by how many I got (I counted 5 total). That said, the service was very good and the showroom was delightfully compact and imparts a very cool vibe for a rock show, intimate and a bit dirty. Mary Jane certainly made multiple hints of her presence during the show, but I consider that an even better contribution to the atmosphere! Great experience, but since it is in the downtown area, parking is a chore.
I went for a concert last weekend and the place was ok. It's nice that your up close to the artist. But it got overly crowded at the bottom. People were pushing and it sux if your up towards the front and need to use the restroom. Walking through that tight crowd, people are more mean and give off bad vibes. I found it pretty scary walking through. But the show itself was amazing! If you think about coming here I recommend the balcony plus they had somewhere to sit.
We had the living lettuce salad, the anti pasta, four pasta dishes and three deserts and wine. Every dish was beautiful and full of complex flavors. The chef is Italian Born and raised. His wife is from Taiwan. They met here and fell in love and opened this business. It is a true locally owned business that is worth going back to again and again House of Blues San Diego.
Very father place. We were watching Carlos Rivera's concert in the VIP area and the service was excellent
