This is our 5th summer at Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels. We enjoy the park so much that we gave our family season passes this past Christmas. Schlitterbahn is a 4 hour drive for us and well worth the trip! We enjoy the tube chutes and the Falls. Its nice to be able to bring your cooler to save $$. We arrive when the park opens and visit during the week/holidays to avoid the long lines.

We drove from St. Louis to New Braunfels (stopped in Oklahoma City overnight) and stayed in one of the Treehaus suites the third week of July 2017. Overall my 2 kids (boys 14 and 16), my wife, and I really enjoyed it. We arrived around 4:30pm on a Tuesday and checked out at 10:00am on Friday; one evening and 2 full days. My wife and 14 year-old preferred the new side while my 16 year-old preferred the old side. I was 50/50.

Everything was pretty great, but they need to step up their game on the resort side of things. They don't communicate very well what is available for resort guests and don't offer much in the way of perks. We had one hour early access to three slides that were connected and one hour late access to the surf simulator. These were both on the new side. Some of the heated swim-up-bar pools were open until midnight. That's it.

We also tried to order a pizza to be delivered to our room (which an employee told us we could do on our first night there) but got sent from one department to another on the phone so I just walked over to the pizza stand and got it myself (we could see it from out room).

It was a pretty great trip, but try and relax and be prepared for a few frustrations!

We have season passes and love to go 5 to 8pm. I wish there was less of a harsh wave hitting the beach at Blastenhoff though. Took out my 3 year old in ankle deep area. Kinda dangerous.

Best water park I've ever been to. Great rides. Great employees. Love coming here. It's wonderful that they let you bring in picnic lunches. I think the prices are great for a family of four to have a great fun day. Went Tuesday in the summer on a 90 degree day and the lines were manageable. Love this place. Highly recommend!

We have always enjoyed our time at Schlitterbahn, which is why it gets 4 stars, however, this was the first time we've ever taken the kids and maneuvering the stroller through the park was nearly impossible. We took the stroller down the stairs, but getting it back up was not an easy task, and when we asked about stroller and wheelchair access we were told there is none. I don't think that's legal, I also don't think it's true as the park would be in pretty big trouble with the ADA if they didn't have wheelchair access. One employee did step up and help us up the stairs, which we really appreciate, I was just very thrown by the fact that no one could point us toward a ramp.

BEWARE... When you call to book your lodging. Beware that the folks are very pleasant, however they do not tell you that the new lodging they tell you about has a bathroom that is so nasty you wouldn't let your dog stay in there . The kitchen has more layers of old 1980's ninoleum that you ever want to see, fridge has broken shelves and of course no knows on any of the cabinets. A/C will not cool the room past 78 degrees. Holes in the walls. After spending $2500 for 4 nights of lodging we couldn't be more disappointed. Lodging NOT what was represented...they had given us 2 choices the old part or the new...we choose the new I can only imagine what the old must be like. Aug 2017 King Family

A very fun water park with a variety of things to do. Overall this water park seemed to have the same sort of rides as every other water park, a great place to go to relax in the summer.

There is 2 parks. First one have about 3-4 hour wait for one slide so we didn't even bother wasting our time there, but second park is even better with same kind or better slides and no much lines at all max 20 min and so fun we spend all day there.

Loved it. Biggest Schlitterbahn I ever been too. Bigger than the one in Galveston Texas. Me & the family had a blast. Was a lot of parking but if you don't get there early enough you can still get free parking but be prepared to walk a mile. Othere than that had a good time. There are 2 separate sides, we didn't understand that at first because we were like this is it, not realizing that it was a whole other side to explore. Will return again.

We Have A Blast Every Year Here, the only thing I have to complain about is having to fight over the tubes in the lazy river. People hog the tubes all day long. Y'all need to come up with a better system like get more tubes or one time around and get back in line like the rest of the rides. Just saying. Other than that y'all still get 5 stars from me.

First time to Schlitterbahn in a few years. Food and drinks are extremely over priced I think everything double in price, best if you bring your own. Some things looked alittle worn out, but still we had overall good time

The rides are fun, and they do allow you to bring outside food (think cooler for a picinic) which is recommended. The in-park food was super greasy and way overpriced. Overall a fun time ^-^

It's one of the best water park I have been. I don't give them the five stars because there was one ride with an issue and they didn't let us know and the waiting time was the double. However, the ride was good.

The park was awesome, water flowing great, clean, But the life guards placed a sense of uncomfort, some did not smile, some seemed so burdened, but there were 2 or 3 that were fun.. but most were not.. I own my own business, I would not allow that.. over all water was great, accommodations were great, life guards not so great..

Once a year at the minimum. Only gets 4 starts because they tell you to remove your shirt and shoes when you get onto the double loop slide. I did and now my right arm is in a sling and I am right handed. Jammed the rotator cuff when I slipped getting onto the slide. Stayed all day, in pain, because we took Debbie's grand children for the first time. They LOVED it and they are 4 & 5, this alone made the trip worth the pain. We will go back. Would be great if we could get ALL the kids and grand kids together at one time.
BE WARNED SCHLITTERBAHN, I will come back but I am NOT removing my water socks for ANY ride.

Some rides are better than others as far as wait time versus ride time. One of the rivers took off one of my nails because it has a machine belt that carries you and my hand got caught. No one warned me! There were too many rides that were just tube rides. Extremely expensive for the day even for just 2 people... I do like that tubes and parking are free. The locker was $18.

We ate at Gator Grill - The person taking orders was very slow but the kitchen was not getting out food fast enough either. We ordered a chili dog combo and a grilled chicken combo. After a long wait we were starving and he hands us the food and said oh by the way we are out of chili is that okay. My husband said no it's not but the kid turned around and went back to the register. It looked like they put extra cheese which made it difficult to eat. Why wouldn't he tell us that before we ordered? The chicken was a bit dry but the fries were great.

For a Monday it seemed pretty darn crowded but it's the end of summer so I'm not surprised. It definitely could have been worse. I wish there were less people allowed in some of the rivers.

The bathrooms for women were nice and cleaned often it seems. There were like 3 or 4 showers and 3 or 4 dressing rooms. Plenty of stalls too. The men's not so much so if you have kids, I hope you have a female with you!

Overall, we did have fun and had plenty to do but not sure if $55 per person just for tickets not including anything else you buy or have to buy is worth the trip. We may come another time if we have some willing friends.

Edit: I'd also like to add that we had difficulty finding our way around. There are a few large map signs in the parks, but there are very little signs showing you where to go to get to specific rides. ALSO some rides require you to go to one place for the tube then go to another place to actually line up so be careful and when in doubt ask other people you see. We found that a lot of people in the park had been there before and kinda knew their way around.

For the most park I love Schlitterbahn. I have travelled from Dallas to New Branfels and made a weekend of it a little over a handful of times in the last 10 years. However this year was disappointing. My 23 year old nephew and I attempted to ride The Dragon's layer on day 1. Combined we weiged just slightly under the weight limit without water weight and camera/cell phone pouches. We waited in line for 2 hours at the bottom of the slide to get a tube then were denied at the top because now they had a weight scale. The 2 gentlemen in front of us were also told the same. After speaking to 2 people at customer service the only thing they could offer was getting us to the top of the wolf pack. We went straight to the wolf pack only to be told the conveyor belt was down and would be another 15 minutes after waiting 2 hours for the Dragon's layer. I understand why there are weight limits and there are signs that say what the rules and what the limits are but i would have appreciated being told that we would be weighed so we could have just gotten 2 tubes or moved on to something else. We also saw several people be denied access to the master blaster for the same reason which also has a wait in line for multiple hours. My only suggestion to Schlitterbahn is to inform your guests that they will be weighed at the top before they get in line and wait for several hours and waste vacation time.

Very unique water park nestled into a wooded hillside in the middle of New Braunfels. It's a physically demanding park, be ready to wait in lines and walk hills and stairs. Rides can be a little rough and the water is cold. You will be busy all day just trying to do each ride once.

So I want to love this place but I can't. The first, and older, of the two parks is the bigger of the two and you could easily spend all day doing everything once the lines pick up. You have to lug your tube around everywhere which is kind of a pain but not the worst. The tubes for adults don't have handles like the kids tubes do which would be awesome as some of the courses are a little turbulent. Three ticket prices were pretty good and we got the all day cups for drink so we saved a lot in my opinion with that. When it's hot you'll be drinking quite a bit and that adds up. Food is cheaper than Disney but still slightly more expensive than you'd like. Plus is you can bring your coolers with food if you want. The second park is more modern but is smaller as far as different courses to take but is the one we preferred. The not so lazy River was a blast and the other one that takes you around the entire property was fun. The waterslides, while REALLY long in line were fun. Overall this isn't your typical water park and that's good and bad.

On to the bad. From what I understand the park is fed by the neighboring spring or river. Well apparently due to the low rain in this area for some time in my opinion there is isn't enough water flowing on a lot of the courses at the first park. You'd constantly get hung up and have to really try to go along smoothly. I'm not light but not huge and my wife is 100 pounds lighter than me and she had the same problem. Just never felt like enough water to do the job. I scraped butt constantly. The whole deal just took so much away from the fun.

So in summary the place has so much potential but not enough water at the main park. The other park is really fun but small. We'd go again but only in passing on our way somewhere else. We wouldn't go just to visit the water park again.
