SC Internal Medicine Review

My wife and I have been patients at South Carolina Internal Medicine for over 8 years. The doctors and staff are first rate. Everyone we have dealt with during this time has always treated us life family. We would never think of using another facility.

Our internist for over twenty years recently moved to this practice. We had not been here previously. Walking in was very impressive. The ambiance was wonderful with a calming paint scheme. the ladies at check in were friendly and professional. We were called almost on the minute of the scheduled appointment. The visit went well and checkout was painless. Highly recommended.

I appreciate the demeanor of the staff from the people who checked me in/out, to the person who put my data into the computer, to the doctor who took her time with me to be sure my concerns were addressed. They were each very personable and warm while still being professional. The wait time in each area was minimal which made me know that they value my time.

Hire more people. Waited over an hour at the referral desk and everyone is always there complaining about it and has the same experience.

We have always adored and trusted Dr. Fredrick Smith. Recently he moved to SC Internal Medicine Associates, and we are so happy he made the move. The nurses and other staff have been wonderful and helpful during our visits. We highly recommend SC Internal Medicine Associates.

I have been a patient of Dr Fuller for years. He knows I don t like taking meds for anything, be it allergies or any type of pain, and never pushes me to take any. I have never walked in to be seen before until a few weeks ago. Although I couldn t see Dr Fuller, I was able to be seen and was in and out within an hour. I ve never had any issues with the practice.

I have been a patient here for several years. Everyone I have met has treated me with professionalism and compassion. They truly care about my health and strive to meet the ever changing needs of their patients.

My mother-in-law sees Dr Levinson and trusts him very much. The office is busy but they still manage to make her feel special.

People are friendly, check in and appointment scheduling is easy, the environment is very welcoming. This location is further from our home, but it s well worth the extra time!

My primary care provider since June 2019. So far I haven't been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They always have providers to see you for same-day visits. Dr. Guram Mandev and his assistant are very compassionate and professional. Dr. Guram never rushes any appointment and he takes the time to answer any question you might have. One of the best providers I've had the chance to see in a long time. Love the brand new building too!

Dr Roberts has been a very good doctor to me for as long as I have known him. This is not a review about him.
However. He has 2 nurses that are absolutely horrible, and rude. My father passed away last year who was my doctor my whole life. (This is in my chart). I got a nurse today that from the start talked down to me and acted like she would rather be anywhere but at work. Once we got into the room, she peppered questions when was your last physical. (Routine questions I know). I responded my dad would see me. "Well from a doctor I mean not just your dad). My dad was a doctor his whole life. When was your last hearing test (routine), "I havent had one in a long time". --Well your dad didnt do that accusatory tone. No. And thats not relevant. I asked for another nurse at this point. She had no other nurses. I walked up to leave.
I called, to complain and that Id like to come back to see Dr Roberts, but not that nurse. Told thats no problem come back. I return to be told thats all part of the physical (I dont dispute its all part of the physical. My complaint is how the nurse speaks to patients.

I wont be a returning patient, and will gladly find a Dr whos staff values their patients as much as the Drs do. I will miss Dr. Roberts as hes a good guy.

Had to leave this practice due to poor billing practices, and horrible appointment availability. Never could see my doctor unless it was 2 to 3 months out..our new doctor was amazed at some of there insurance and other practices. Shame on SCIM

Excellent place! Been going there for over 16 years wouldn t change for anything!

This practice is unlike others. You have plenty of nice people working here. I saw Dr. Fuller and he was very thorough. He made sure he went through my current symptoms and past issues. Scheduled all test before I left. I was very satisfied.

Dr. Mandev Guram is an outstanding physician. He looks me in the eye when he talks to me, and answers every question. He really listens and I feel very confident entrusting my care to him!

I absolutely love Dr. Fuller and his team!! The atmosphere at the office is great. Always eager to help. I do avoid some of the front desk ladies because they are rude (not all of them) but I can over look that due to the love I have for the doctors and nursing staff!! Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good caring doctors office!!

I have been a patient of SC Internal Medicine for years, I started under Dr. Sean Fuller and have been seeing Nurse Practitioner Stephanie Gunn for last several years. Both are wonderful physicians and all the doctors and staff at SC Internal Medicine are very friendly and helpful, from check in to check out and all facets in between.

I recently changed drs, and was lucky enough to find Dr. Mendez Gurman ... my first visit was outstanding.. from initial greeting to seeing Dr. Gurman .. everything was wonderful.. it s obvious Dr. Gurman has great skill, dedicated, and sincerely concerned about all aspects of my healthcare... if looking for a new Dr, defin see Dr. Gurman...

I have been a patient since 2015. They can take care of you from head to toe. Sometimes a wait, but each patient gets taken care of based on needs , and I know I will too. Allied health, front desk, and referral teams are great to work with. My husband and I see Stefanie Gunn and know we are taken care of!

Had to get emergent care from mystery rash - called in morning - got apt at 11 and seen by noon, got Rx filled and meds by 2pm. APN was fully competent in judgment of issue, prescription and explanation to me. This office has been great at diagnosis and care of my recent ailments since we moved here in 2013.

I was looking for a doctor who would listen and show some kind of interests in what I had to say so he could give me the care and attention to what I need. I have found the doctor here. Thank God for answering my prayer. I would recommend others to this facility.

My wife decided to choose SC Internal Medicine her primary care after it was referred by a co-worker. She got sick the other day and had to take time off work for something that qualifies for FMLA.

After her visit, she asked to get her FMLA papers signed and she was told that she will have to come back the next day. She paid her co-pay and we went on our way.

The next day she attempts to get her FMLA papers done and the doctor office wants to charge her another co-pay to get her FMLA paper. Mind you, she had already paid a co-pay the previous day. Greed at its best!

The money is not the problem! I don t like the principal. You know how much these people charge to the insurance companies just to weigh you, take your blood pressure and ask you the reason for the visit? On top of that you have to pay a co-insurance and pay for your medication.

They want to charge us a whole other office visit just for paperwork that could had been done the day prior.

Call me cheap, I just don t like to be taken advantage of

I love my internal med center and Dr. Levinson is the best most caring doctor . Cant say enough about the level of care. AAA+

The doctors here are fine. I felt taken care of when I was in the office. However, the communication you have with them outside of the office is minimal at best. They don t get back to you for over a week about lab results that are time sensitive. And when you try to call and ask about them they act like it s the biggest deal in the world to communicate these with you. It s a game of phone tag and you, the paying customer, will lose every single time. Additionally, they will suggest absurd referrals and specialty tests for simple problems that could probably be handled by a simpler more economic test first. I m going elsewhere to some place that can actually communicate with their patients and don t leave me on hold for 30 mins at a time just so I can leave a message to ask to be called back. Ridiculous.

Here you will find a variety of Medical Doctors, in one location. This is very convenient for people with busy lifestyles.
You can address many medical needs, for you and your family. For example you can have X-rays, lab work, sleep studies, hearing tests and there is a Weight Loss Center and much more in this facility. In July they will be moving into their new facility right across the street. Congratulations, to all my healthcare providers.

I have come here for many years because I like Dr Gabriel. He is attentive
and responsive to my needs. I also enjoy the respect for my time by adhearing to my appointment time always.

This has been my primary care for more than 10? years, having followed my Nurse Practitioner here from an other practice. She has gone into a more specialized area, I have one now who is as close to perfect as a mortal can be (S.G.)

My most recent visit to SC Internal Medicine easily the worst one I've had since I starting going there for sleep apnea in 2011. I called and made an appointment to have a new CPAP machine set up. I met with my doctor, Dr. Strange, and confirmed the settings that needed to be programmed in the machine. As it turned out, there was not a respiratory therapist available at that time to program it and they asked me at first if I mind waiting a short time until one arrived and I said ok. Shortly after, they asked if I minded taking the machine offsite to get it programmed and I said ok. Should have been a 5 minute task. When I was checking out, the doctor's assistant told me I needed to take it "down the street" and get it programmed. I asked if it was in the building they used to be in and she told me to go down to the stop sign and take a turn instead of just giving me the business name and address.

I found the business with no problem and on the way up to the door I noticed that the script was wrong for one of the settings to be programmed into the machine. Disappointing in that there were only two settings that had to be programmed. When I met the therapist, I told him I noticed that one of the values was wrong and he did email and confirm that was the case and got the correct value. I thought everything was fine until the next day I get a box of CPAP supplies that I did not need or request as the CPAP programming was the only thing I needed. Upon inspection of the script, I found that in addition to the wrong programming value, it appears that they reused an old script that had boxes checked for different supplies instead of making a new one just for the CPAP programming.

At this point I reached out to SC Internal Medicine first through the patient portal, then phone calls and finally to the email they sent requesting this review using a link they provided to let them know if there were any problems. Weeks later I have still not received any reply. I did call the medical supply company and arrange to return the supplies, which I did a couple of weeks back with a label provided by them.

Today I got a bill for the supplies I returned and upon calling them, they said they haven't yet received the supplies, but will let me know when they do. Since they have already filed the insurance, it will take 40-60 days before everything get processed. Again, this should have been a 5 minute task and it would seem to me you would have to try to mess things up this badly. What has amazed me more though is that even with multiple communication attempts, I've not received any response either by phone or email. None of my other providers, vision, dental or my personal physician have ever just ignored communication. Also, while I was there for that appointment I changed an upcoming appointment I had and they didn't bother to change it in the patient portal, so I went ahead and cancelled it. If a simple task like I went in for can't be handled any better than this, how am I supposed to have any confidence that something more serious would be handled at all?

Dr. Gabriel has been my dr for many years but it's almost impossible to get to see him. The front desk supervisor told me that I need to go to Urgent Care for my annual physical instead of scheduling appointments with Dr. Gabriel office. This woman argues with me every time I attempt to make an appointment for an exam. She makes me feel like they don't want me as a patient. In fact, she basically said they don't have time to just do basic physicals and I should go to Urgent Care. I thought my primary care physician would be the best provider for my exams. The front desk supervisor and intake reps are not kind nor friendly. No smiles, no eye contact, no empathy or attempt to even listen. It's obvious they have a problem with me and I need to find another doctor.

I have been going to the CMWL now for a couple of weeks. I also went to them back last year. Lauren Francis is awesome and really cares. She makes even a little weight loss a big deal! Thanks for being great!

Was very comfortable with Dr. Fuller. All my concerns were addressed. Very compassionate and professional. I didn t feel rushed in anyway.

Appointment time was 9:30 and was back home by10:30. Very quick and efficient; easy check in and check out. Great folks at SC Internal Medicine

This facility is nothing short of spectacular. I have had several general practitioners, and Dr. M Guram and his staff have superceded anyplace else I have ever gone. They go above and beyond to understand your matters and treat them throuroughly. They are compassionate and understanding. I couldn't suggest a better physician. This place and this team have been life altering in the best way. My life has done a complete 180 in just a matter of months. I am so grateful to have found them! Huge shout out to Dr. Guram and his team- they are the best you will find.

Great experience! I called to schedule a new patient appointment and got scheduled in a reasonable time. Got checked in, seen the doctor, and had lab work within an hour and a half. Great staff too!

I had a good experience with this office. I only had to wait 10 minutes before they took me back to draw my blood. The mornings are very busy and everyone wants to get it done before work. They have improved there protocol and it has improved the overall experience.

I went in for a yearly checkup. From the front reception all the way through checkout was great. I saw Dr. Fredric Smith. He was very knowledgeable, personable and helped me understand a few things. Monica was great in her duties as well, she s super sweet. I m very happy I found an office that seems to care about the patients.

The staff is great. I'm a fairly new patient and they treat me like I've been going there for years Dr. Levinson is very thorough and cares about your health and well being.

I had an appointment scheduled today at 2:30 p.m. When I checked in, I was told the Nurse Practitioner was running about 30 minutes behind. I still had not been seen by the Nurse Practitioner at 4 p.m. There is a longer story to this, but in the end I chose to leave without being seen. My husband and I have been patients at this facility for about 3 years. Can't get an appointment with a doctor and the Nurse Practitioners seem to have a high turn over. We have elected to go elsewhere.

My husband has been a patient of Dr. Doug Roberts for many years. This practice is excellent. They are responsive whether it be to make an appointment, get a prescription refilled, or to discuss a problem. The health care staff are friendly and compassionate as are the administrative team. Dr. Roberts takes time with his patients and does not rush through a visit. He listens and evaluates what the patient s needs are. Wish there were more practices like SC Internal Medicine.

Encouraging first visit to the weight loss program. I left motivated to lose weight. I was disappointed, though, that the promotes expensive food products (Jenny Craig-style products) rather than the type of nutritional education I previously received at Columbia Heart seven years ago that teaches how to use real food from your normal environment.

Immaculate doctors office, was looking around for practices to find a primary care physician this is the spot. Karina is wonderful very informative, patient and welcoming. Even helped me with directions when I couldn t locate the facility. Look forward to having them take great care of me for years to come. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Yesterday was my first time going to SC Internal Medicine Associates in Irmo, SC and I have to say that I was really impressed ... the location is quiet, the building is big, the parking lot is spacious, the waiting room... well, simple and organized! You only see the chairs, and some tables with tissue boxes, very appropriate for the season... also, the check in was prompt, the receptionist very kind, Melissa the nurse was very attentive and welcoming, Dr Guram was very patient and listened to all my concerns. I wish they were much closer to home, but I'm willing to drive the 35+ miles to be seen. I will recommend it to my family and friends!!

It s a very warm and welcoming environment. Dr. Fuller has been my PCP since 2013. I wouldn t think of going anywhere else, where
ever he goes I ll follow! Overall the staff is wonderful from the receptionist/operators to checkout and everyone in between!

I never have a long wait, and they are through.

If you re are tired of being just another ATM machine at your doctors office, you need to visit SCIM. From the time you walk in the door you can tell this place is different. There is not just one checking everyone in, they have 4 or 5 people at different windows so you don t have to stand in line for 15 or 20 minutes to get checked in. Once you sit down you won t wait long before your called to the back. The nurse will escort you to a room and she immediately takes your vitals, ask if you need medicine refills, the purpose of the visit. I guess she briefs the doctor before they come in so the doctor already knows why you re there.
I and some of my family all see Stephanie Gunn. All the doctors I ve met there are way above the ones you deal with at LFP but Stephanie Gunn is the best!!

Lisa Myrick is very professional.

She lets you tell her what the problem is and offers intelligent responses.

What really impressed me was her long range plans developed from her
experience, especially since I am an octogenerian.

I would recommend her to everybody!

Dr. Guram is very bright and interested in the very best for his patients. What was very nice was not to have to run all around town to get things done which he recommend. Most of all Dr. Guram stays up to date on current CMS recommendations and also most importantly he stays up to date with the continuing medical education. That is why he is still my doctor 2 hours away.

Dr. Smith is a very friendly physician. He listens to the complains and
takes good care of you. I have a very high opinion about him. I wish

I had my first appointment with Dr. Mandev Guram, and it was a very professional comfortable experience. Even though I m new to SC and trying to get established in the community I felt right at home amongst Dr. Guram and his medical staff. His medical assistants treated me like I was a patient for years. Dr. Guram addressed all of my concerns and informed me to contact him or his staff for any additional information or assistance. That truly made me feel welcomed. I left the medical facility with a good feeling that I found excellent medical staff that will continue to give me professional medical care something that I m accustomed to. I look forward to establishing a good relationship with the individuals that will provide my medical care.

I searched long and hard to find a good primary care doctor because I have several fairly serious health conditions. Someone recommended Dr Sean Fuller and I couldn't possibly ask for a better doctor!

Dr Fuller has been my primary care doctor for about 10 years he specializes in men's health and is fantastic at not only diagnosing a problem but knowing how to treat it it feels good to have him in my corner. If I could give more than five stars i would.
