Very cold inside the pub. Mixed reception to the food. The pork and steak dishes were tasty and generous, but the fish and chips were cold and left much to be desired.
Friendly and helpful staff with good attentive service.

Nice enough place. Good food. Reasonable price. Felt a bit like a locals only pub at first but had a warmish welcome. Good selection of veggie food. Really good sized portions. Dog friendly but... I'm not a fan of dogs begging at the table when you eat and as lovable as Frankie is, having him nuzzle my family throughout our meal and at no time get called away was a bit much. Plus local couple came in with a small dog who they let walk/sit on the table and lick the salt and pepper shakers!!! Good for a bite over a pint but not a meal on a Saturday night. *just my opinion

15th century chocolate box thatched roof in centre of village with parking at the rear. Beers include real ale at reasonable quality and dogs allowed at the bar. Beer garden overlooks passing occasional traffic in the Summer. More seating by the old butter cross at the front. Food is good here.

Had food here numerous times now. It has always been beautiful. And all homemade. The staff make you feel right at home and it's a lovely old style pub. Me and my family love it here for Sunday lunch. Can't wait to come back. Also the lovely barmaid recommended her favourite gin. The ginger and rhubarb with a ginger tonic. It was beautiful. Thankyou so much!

Nice pit stop on the way back from Twycross zoo. Excellent range of drinks... Didn't get to try the food but seemed pretty popular. Lovely beer garden too. Very friendly behind the bar too.

We have just returned from our pre booked community group Christmas meal here. The food was appalling, the service was diabolical and the room in which we ate was scruffy and dirty. We are all very upset about such a disappointing meal this year.

Very disappointed. Food was lovely however the local pub dog having his face nearly in your plate for 99% of the duration is somewhat rather disgusting. We are dog owners and dog lovers but this was too intense. Also a sign should be clearly displayed before you enter for people with pet allergies. Simple health and safety. I'm afraid you have let yourselves down by allowing a dog to beg at customers tables. Will not return.

Can't fault the food, but there was a dog begging at my table throughout the whole meal. He was practically on my lap, but nothing was done about this until my wife said something.
Unacceptable when I'm eating my dinner.
The dog needs to be under control....you'll definitely lose custom. Its definitely put me off going back.

Nice country pub in a good location. Large car park and outside benches with beautiful hanging baskets and flowers. Weren't serving food at the time of our visit which was a shame. Will definitely go back and try the menu.

Disappointing, friendly enough landlord, restaurant seating area at back of pub had a strange smell, fish sandwich was over cooked and majority of it was batter although chips were nice, overall it wasn't good value for money, dog was friendly and enjoyed my burnt batter, wouldn't recommend, won't be revisiting.

Very pleasant thatched country pub. Decided to go out for Sunday lunch for the first time in ages, very mediocre meal, pints of Pedgree excellent as usual could have done with topping up a little though. To sum up I now know why I have Sunday lunch at home.

Lovely, cosy, traditional village pub with welcoming staff and delicious food. We took a walking group of 20 there today and the service was impressive as was the standard of food. Support this gem!

A lovely reminder of how English village pubs used to be. Landlord is friendly and makes you feel at home. Good real ale that's well kept and cared for and a nice selection of pub favourites on the food menu. The beer garden is spacious and is the perfect place for a drink with friends and to enjoy the sunshine. We need to support pubs like this before we lose them.

Spur of the moment stop and what a wonderful place to eat & drink .
Everything we had tasted as good as it looked .
My choice from the specials board of braised beef had my other half wishing she'd had the same but the freshly cooked cod was lovely also.
Nice friendly helpful staff made this a place to write about . Go on give it a try.

We lunch at The Bird in Hand on a regular basis. The welcome, particularly from Freddie, the pub dog, is as warm as you could wish for. The beer and food are, in our opinion, probably the best in the Tamworth area. Having been in a lot of hostelries all over the U.K. it makes us appreciate the quality that is on our doorstep!
