Ot stayed for a drink so can't comment on the food but it was lovely and friendly and there was a big beer garden with marquee so shelter from the sun.
Nice local village pub with a friendly atmosphere and a selection of ales on tap.
Quiet, nice garden, delicious food, and it's thatched!
Good food. Prompt service. Very pleasant atmosphere.
Great food, service was a little slow. Took around 45 mins.
Had a great lunch with friends there. Good menu, friendly staff
Lovely village location, great staff, great atmosphere and delicious food.
Really good atmosphere, food was excellent and pint of bass was very good
Very cold inside the pub. Mixed reception to the food. The pork and steak dishes were tasty and generous, but the fish and chips were cold and left much to be desired.
Friendly and helpful staff with good attentive service.
Lovely village pub, great welcome and very nice food and drinks
Excellent landlord with a knowledge of the local needs but instantly interested in accommodating passing trade. A local village pub that welcomes everyone
Lovely pub and excellent food with generous sized portions
Lovely food and friendly people with welcoming atmosphere
Nice enough place. Good food. Reasonable price. Felt a bit like a locals only pub at first but had a warmish welcome. Good selection of veggie food. Really good sized portions. Dog friendly but... I'm not a fan of dogs begging at the table when you eat and as lovable as Frankie is, having him nuzzle my family throughout our meal and at no time get called away was a bit much. Plus local couple came in with a small dog who they let walk/sit on the table and lick the salt and pepper shakers!!! Good for a bite over a pint but not a meal on a Saturday night. *just my opinion
Excellent 'proper pub'. Good food, friendly attentive service.
Lovely people, lovely food and a good selection of beers. Oh and a lovely pub dog!
Lovely pub, great staff, gorgeous fire, wonderful lady who played with my child and superb wine.
Great experience - lovely atmosphere, great food and wonderful ales. Will definitely be going again
15th century chocolate box thatched roof in centre of village with parking at the rear. Beers include real ale at reasonable quality and dogs allowed at the bar. Beer garden overlooks passing occasional traffic in the Summer. More seating by the old butter cross at the front. Food is good here.
Lovely place with great food and good service. Freddie is a cutie too
Didn't have any food there the drinks were dear enough
A smashing place stunning inside and out o first class village pub
Great food. Friendly staff. Beautiful old atmospheric pub
Old thatched pub with a great atmosphere in a beautiful location
Went this afternoon after our day out food was amazing, bar staff and waitress were very friendly and polite. Will recommend this pub to family and friends.
Had food here numerous times now. It has always been beautiful. And all homemade. The staff make you feel right at home and it's a lovely old style pub. Me and my family love it here for Sunday lunch. Can't wait to come back. Also the lovely barmaid recommended her favourite gin. The ginger and rhubarb with a ginger tonic. It was beautiful. Thankyou so much!
Lovely Christmas dinner lovely waitresses and bar staff Deffo be back x
Was looking forward to a nice cold pint of lager after a 7 mile walk today but found pub was closed even though there web site said it was open from 12 till 11pm
Beautiful old pub, good beers, friendly landlord and a great character of a dog
Nice pit stop on the way back from Twycross zoo. Excellent range of drinks... Didn't get to try the food but seemed pretty popular. Lovely beer garden too. Very friendly behind the bar too.
Food ok but not great. Few vegetables and didn't even seem to have ice cream. Understaffed on bar. Lovely old building. Very convenient for Twycross zoo.
We have just returned from our pre booked community group Christmas meal here. The food was appalling, the service was diabolical and the room in which we ate was scruffy and dirty. We are all very upset about such a disappointing meal this year.
Beautiful old village pub, good beer, good company, what more can you ask for!
Very disappointed. Food was lovely however the local pub dog having his face nearly in your plate for 99% of the duration is somewhat rather disgusting. We are dog owners and dog lovers but this was too intense. Also a sign should be clearly displayed before you enter for people with pet allergies. Simple health and safety. I'm afraid you have let yourselves down by allowing a dog to beg at customers tables. Will not return.
Warm welcome ; excellent freashly cooked Roast beef dinner. Will eat there again
Had a lovely sunday roast food was very nice will be back soon
8 meals all great even filled me way to go the Bird in hand
Can't fault the food, but there was a dog begging at my table throughout the whole meal. He was practically on my lap, but nothing was done about this until my wife said something.
Unacceptable when I'm eating my dinner.
The dog needs to be under control....you'll definitely lose custom. Its definitely put me off going back.
Nice country pub in a good location. Large car park and outside benches with beautiful hanging baskets and flowers. Weren't serving food at the time of our visit which was a shame. Will definitely go back and try the menu.
Food was good. The young man serving the food was really pleasant. The bartender was unwelcoming and miserable.
Lovely thatched village pub. Nice outdoor area for when it's not raining!
Friendly please. Agreeable ambiance. Food was nice had a lovely evening evening there with my friends
We had a lovely three course meal. There was four of us. And all our meals were excellent. Lovely village pub.
We had a nice couple of drinks in the Garden in the sunshine
Lovely sunday roast beef melted in your mouth. Friendly service cosy atmosphere
Disappointing, friendly enough landlord, restaurant seating area at back of pub had a strange smell, fish sandwich was over cooked and majority of it was batter although chips were nice, overall it wasn't good value for money, dog was friendly and enjoyed my burnt batter, wouldn't recommend, won't be revisiting.
Friendly atmosphere, comfortable and outstanding food
Great atmosphere. Really friendly landlord. Nice and clean. Will defiantly return.
Very pleasant thatched country pub. Decided to go out for Sunday lunch for the first time in ages, very mediocre meal, pints of Pedgree excellent as usual could have done with topping up a little though. To sum up I now know why I have Sunday lunch at home.
Lovely Sunday Roast dinner, fresh veg, locally sourced produce, friendly and polite staff, definitely go again, thank you,Xxxx
Lovely selection of ales, friendly staff and a pub dog.
A warm and friendly pub. All that's lacking is WiFi.
Nice ales and very friendly staff. The house dog is also a friendly old chap. Food looked good so booking up for a meal next weekend
Lovely, cosy, traditional village pub with welcoming staff and delicious food. We took a walking group of 20 there today and the service was impressive as was the standard of food. Support this gem!
A lovely reminder of how English village pubs used to be. Landlord is friendly and makes you feel at home. Good real ale that's well kept and cared for and a nice selection of pub favourites on the food menu. The beer garden is spacious and is the perfect place for a drink with friends and to enjoy the sunshine. We need to support pubs like this before we lose them.
Good food and great people will return and would recommend to people
Spur of the moment stop and what a wonderful place to eat & drink .
Everything we had tasted as good as it looked .
My choice from the specials board of braised beef had my other half wishing she'd had the same but the freshly cooked cod was lovely also.
Nice friendly helpful staff made this a place to write about . Go on give it a try.
Family occasion, looked after superbly well by the staff. Good food and good ale at this traditional country pub.
We lunch at The Bird in Hand on a regular basis. The welcome, particularly from Freddie, the pub dog, is as warm as you could wish for. The beer and food are, in our opinion, probably the best in the Tamworth area. Having been in a lot of hostelries all over the U.K. it makes us appreciate the quality that is on our doorstep!
Good food, dog friendly and good beers. Very friendly staff.
