Great service , great pools nice beach lovely area , room had a little smell to it
After my third off-season trip to this "resort" I decided to write this review. We come here yearly around December for a convention. My opinion is that the rooms are overpriced and outdated. The restaurant is severely understaffed and over priced. My daughter got a hamburger and fries. I got a "perch dinner" which consisted of 6 pieces of fried perch, a handful of fries and a warm Miller Lite. 40+ minutes to get our food, $47 before a tip. One bartender in the bar while there was a "band" and a football game on. The Christmas lights are pretty.
Was there for the band in the Black Bear Saloon. Sat at the bar, service was okay, the band was great.
Went for Sunday brunch. Excellent selection of breakfast food, carved meats and salads. Best coffee around area. Good service. Very reasonably priced. Will return.
Great looking facility but that is all I can say that is good about this resort. I expect more at this price point. Our room was really musty and the mattresses were terrible and old. Breakfast buffet was $33 with tip and the service was not very good. It took forever to get a glass of water. I also had to listen to the staff complain about customers while bussing the table next to us. The one complaining appeared to be a manager and her name was Linda. She needs to find a different job. She went on and on about how terribly messy this table was and made snide remarks about how she wonders if this is how they live at home and continued to complain about how people are being raised these days! Linda has no business being in the customer service field. I would recommend staying away from this resort unless you like musty smells and rude staff.
Older building. Hot tub not really hot, but overall an ok experience
Went to the mother's day brunch. It was very nice but for some reason was craving bacon and an omelet which were not available. The omelet I understand due to that days volume. Food was well made and everyone was professional. It was expensive for what it was, but had a good time.
This hotel we stayed for a week and had a great experience and would book again, great service and loads of fun.
The cart boy and girl was very pleasant. The course was in great shape. They have a lot of raised greens.
Was there 2 days and 1 night for a conference. The rooms were clean, but dated. The air condition in my room was loud & came on and off about every 60 seconds making it hard to sleep. The bed was comfortable, as was the pillows. I was disappointed that their site claims there's a hot tub, but it hasn't worked since they took ownership. My thought is, if that's the case either fix it now, or stop advertising that there's a hot tub! The only other thing I can comment on is that the conference room smelled musty as did the hallways and some of my co workers rooms. The bathrooms were clean and well stocked. I would've given 5 stars had there not been the above mentioned problems.
Nice resort with good restaurants and several nice amenities.
This place is nice. The hotel is a little dated, but it's clean and has great amenitites. At least it seemed like the amenities were nice, because my kids didn't get to use them due to travel baseball kids taking over every inch of the hotel. We'd stay here again, but before we made a reservation I would ask if there will be a bunch of unsupervised kids running around.
Ok we have stayed here many times but never book any room with double beds they are horrible I loved this place up till last weekend also the dude that was vacuuming in the hallway at 8:45am should be fired not sure why they would do that
Attend a conference here annually. The rooms are cozy. The food is okay, there are usually several hundred of us there
So outdated it ain't funny! Not worth 200 a night. Staff is good but...if you are here for a tourney don't go here.! No amenities like they said! Close up and re mod this joint!
Great place to stay for dinner and drinks nice weekend
The rooms did not have working refrigerators or air conditioning. We were moved to a second one only for the fridge there not to work.
BUT the staff was absolutely lovely. Absolute angels, all of them. So I give it 3 out of 5 stars since they did everything they could to make us feel comfortable.
Visited on Easter. Food was tasty. The buffet was well appointed. The staff seemed overwhelmed.
Attended an annual professional education event and it's always a good experience
Great employees, very friendly and worked hard to make sure a wedding happened
Awesome fun family friendly facility! Great pool and rooms clean n pet friendly!
It's nice but doesn't really wow me like I would expect something called a resort. Also meeting spaces and hallways always seem warm especially since you have to walk through corridor after corridor to get to your room I feel like a mouse in a maze.
Unfortunate service room service never delivered I ended up having to order outside of resort to get dinner at that point it was nearly midnight after several attempts to get service. Wi-Fi connection was slow at best but mostly non existent. Quite disappointed though it's a pretty place the cost and hassle was not worth the views
They box springs are hard we found a dirty rag under one of the mattress and a straw under the other the grounds are big walls r thin
Love the sunset in this place. Beautiful place for a retreat and visit
My wife and I are attending our third seminar at Sawmill Creek Resort. Each visit has been fantastic. The staff is very professional. The amenities are very relaxing. It is a must trip for your family.
The restaurant staff needed help. We waited a long time for food. Some of our friends were there an hour-but no one took their order. The waitress was in tears. The food was excellent.
The people are friendly, rooms are very clean, ambiance is relaxing, & the food is delicious!
Friendly and professional service, well kept environment, excellent food, and relaxing atmosphere
Real nice place great accommodations and employees very friendly
Overpriced room watch out for all the taxes they charge you for when you leave. Not going back.
If i could give it less than one star, i would. The AC in hallways is non-existent. The rooms are rundown and completely outdated. When i checked into my room, there was a dirty sponge laying in the entryway. The tub stopper was in the middle of the tub which was dirty, rusted and disgusting. The AC in my room only had one speed and one temperature - high and cold. It was also so loud that it would wake me up several times a night. I keep my house at 63 degrees, and even i was FREEZING. Better than guests who checked into rooms without a working AC, i guess. The mattress was like laying on a wood board, except i could feel the coils. The room smelled like mildew. The soda in the vending machines, and in the deli, expired a year ago. The price of the room is not worth it. I honestly have stayed in hotels for a third of this cost with better rooms and better amenities. Do yourself a favor, stay somewhere else.
Good price and the lobby and meeting rooms were awesome. Homey and cozy feel end at your room and the beds were pretty awful.
Sawmill Creek is surely a place for families, golfers, and boaters alike to come and have a grand time. There's restrooms, there's a hotel, there's a Marina and a pool and a pathway to the beach. Very great place for weddings
The Easter brunch is pretty amazing. Worth the trip!
Golf and food were great. Rooms could use a little updating.
For the price you can stay at a more up-to-date peaceful place. Save yourself the bad experience. Staff was not friendly or helpful. The food was very over priced for the poor quality. We had bad service all around and tried to just relax in our room for the evening and were kept awake ALL night by guests having a party in the room below. We called the desk through the night and they even had to have the police come twice yet they were not kicked out. What was supposed to be a relaxing night away turned out to be a HUGE waste of money. We habe stayed in the past but will not be staying again. The place has really gone down hill espically if they allow such non sense to go on, they must be desprate for guests. Not a good way to get them in my opinion.
Great location. Lots of activities in the summer. Beautiful grounds and beach.
This has been a very up lifting weekend. The speakers were fantastic, And our Concert Family was the most fantastic people I had heard here at the conference. I hope they bring the Lindsay family back, SOON.
The staff mentioned the property was being sold. Then it will be refurbished. For now it was a bit run down. Shower was clogged. Hotel phone didn't work. Staff was nice.
Was not informed at time of booking that there was a 75 hold on both rooms when checking in. I was also not told while booking that the company system dose a read for cards over not chargeing 114 on top of rooming. At time of check in there was really no parking and the wifi was out by my room while for others they had wifi. Pretty much the box was missing. The pool was closed and they failed to tell people when they cloudve just emailed me about all this. Whats the point of giveing them my email if they wount use it for issues like this. Both of my rooms did not have a mircowave and no Refrigerator so why that price?
The hotel is a little old but it gives you what you need and it's close to the park.
Going downhill rapidly. Owners not putting any money in to it. Got food poisoning from undercooked food. Has so much potential but needs new management.
The server was excellent. Made a salad for me although not offered. It wasn't busy but the food was above expectations. Always a great choice.
Fitness room is a mess and like an oven inside! Please clean it up...get equipment cleaned and repaired and keep temp. at required sixty eight. Poorly ventilated.
Only stayed one night but the room had that motel vibe but cleaner so hey, that ain't too shabby. Definitely an older building, low ceilings, but overall a ok experience.
Service was great. Loved the decor and feel of the Resort.
The place overall was very nice. The golf course was great. The rooms could use some updates.. the food was great.. overall great place
This place has potential but they hoodwinked us with false advertising. It's supposed to be a resort but since Cedar Point bought them, they got rid of everything but the pool. The beach was the best, secluded and clean. Hot tub was fun too, but too pricey for what's available. The taxes were over $100, so ask before you book.
I went to see their outdoor Christmas lights display. They were fantastic, the best in Lorain County!
The staff was friendly, the course had a good initial impression, however as the round went on, it was apparent the upkeep of the course was lacking, the greens spotty and bare on the fairways. As a traveling golfer, I was under the impression this course was right by the water with holes overlooking the lake, this was not the case and the experience of the course does not justify the price I was willing to paid for a premium course, this was a mid level public course at best with top course prices. Perhaps the result of it being in a tourist area. I do not recommend for fellow golfers looking for a quality course on vacation.
As far as the facilities, simply based on the bar and the restroom area, it is far from the "resort" quality it advertise itself to be.
Closed. Hopefully they will make a huge improvement. It could be fantastic!
Love this place. I go there at least 2 timea a month
Very nice resort on the lake, close to Cedar Point.
Conference room very nice atmosphere. Service very good. Food a little cold when served but very tasty
Nice resort, friendly folks. We had the unfortunate experience of bad weather which didn't help but who can control that?
Course in great shape, but bring your putter .....and prize to anybody without 3putt on these huge greens.
Nice place for vacation and company meetings. Room are clean and good location with lake view.
My wife and I came back here where we got married 25 years ago for our anniversary...the only difference was this time I locked myself in the bathroom and cried all night :/
Just was checking out the location for a possible work function.
The resort is absolutely great, to bad the employee's were very very rude! Had no power in half of our room when we woke up in the morning (bathroom and entry way). Front desk was a joke! The people working outside were very friendly though.
Really weird earthy smell. Was called "a dump" by a few people. Pool is nice though. Beach is far but if you make it there it's a good time
Very fun place. Went for a party and had a great time.
Beautiful resort for a wedding or just for traveling!
Employees were kind and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.
If I could give no stars I would!!!!! I recently stayed at the Sawmill Creek Resort and was treated very poorly and received the worst customer service. I have so many complaints I do not know where to start. I tried to look past the majority of the issues and just have a good time while I was there with my family, but due to all of the inconveniences, the poor treatment, and terrible service it made this impossible. I want to start by the smell of the room when you enter. It smells of must, mildew, and cat urine. Coming from a family of allergies, this was horrific. I also have a son who is super sensitive to smells and would dry heave when entering the room. I would have requested a different room, but we were staying with his baseball team and ALL of the rooms had the same scent. I actually had to go and purchase Glade plug-in air fresheners in order for my son to be able to stay in the room.
It looked as if it was barely cleaned. The coffee pot still had coffee in it from the previous guest, the bath tub didn't drain when you took a shower so you had to stand in your own filth, There were multiple bugs in our room we had to kill, peeling wallpaper and old carpet. Also, the breakfast buffet was appalling. I am a registered dietitian so I am familiar with food safety. The food was not kept at temperature. The sausage and potatoes were very cold. The eggs appeared to be undercooked. The cereal
One of my biggest concerns is for the way guests are treated by the staff and employees at the Sawmill Creek Resort. I personally was treated as if I was a nobody and so disrespected. No one was helpful, resourceful, accommodating, etc. They all acted as if they were just too busy and bothered when asked a question or asked to do their job.
One particular example is that I had forgotten a few items in the closet on the last day.
I was an hour and a half away and called but the front desk said there was nothing they could do about it. I explained exactly where they were and where to find them. I would be coming back to get them. They transferred me to housekeeping. The woman on the phone told me she would have to go look but would have to call me back because she was just too busy and had to call me back. However, she never did. So when we arrived to pick them up they were gone for the day and no one could get them for me. I was understanding about this. I called the back the next day and Was told It s not my fault you forgot your clothes and that if I wanted my clothes then I would have to pay for them or I just don't get them back. She then became very argumentative and started yelling at me. It was very poor customer service. I do not understand. I asked to speak to her supervisor, but stated she did not have one. Then said she would have to talk to someone and would have her call me and hung up on me. Then I called the front desk again and asked to speak with the individual myself and was transferred to her voicemail. She then had the front desk employee call me back and stated I would still have to still have to pay the money to have my clothes shipped because I again was the one who forgot them and should have called to say I was on the way to pick them up even when the individual was supposed to call me back to say she found them.
It is not so much about the charge I am concerned about. It just more about how I have been treated and the condition of their facility. It is inhumane. I was very displeased with the room, their employees, the food, etc. from the very beginning, but just looked past it because I did not want to be petty and complain about every little detail. However, after I have also spoken with other families who stayed at this resort this past weekend and have had other experiences of very poor customer service as well as poor accommodations I decided that this has to stop somewhere. People are spending a lot of money and time here and do not deserve this. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!!! Don t risk your health and well being!
