Love to take my wife there for Sunday brunch and amazing deal great food great service
Went to the Festival of lights. Played Ms.Claus and Santa at the Candycane house. Resort is very nice inside.
Enjoyed time with the family at this resort. There are eating areas in the facility, indoor & outdoor pool, and a massage spa. There are other attractions nearby including trails & Cedar Point. Wish I could say this was a completely good experience. Elements of the hotel room accommodations were however, were less than excellent.
The carpet was not clean & had what looked like pet spots on it. The bathroom also did appear thoroughly clean - especially the sink & tub. Even worse, the tub was clogged causing the dirty water to back up.
The customer service & responsiveness was pleasant & very responsive. This was with the exception of a front-desk attendant ('Brooklyn') who apparently did not like our asking about microwaves in the room - quickly displaying a dismissive and disrespectful attitude. Another attendant saw the brief exchange & intervened providing more information. The rooms do not come with microwaves. We'd been told that a limited number were available for $10/night, but apparently this is not the case. The only option was a microwave located inside the deli near the front desk - available during business hours - but this was a 5 minute walk from our room in the Shawnee area.
There are small refrigerators in the room, but ours was awkwardly placed inside a cabinet at floor level - with the cabinet door opening one direction and refrigerator door in another.
Despite the above issues, the Sawmill Creek resort provided sufficient accommodations for our family to have a good time.
love the atmosphere the hospitality the spacious room. I really enjoyed myself and will be returning.
Beautiful spot on Lake Erie, afforable and accessible!
Convenient location, just a little off of route 2. Plenty of parking space.
Such a nice peaceful stay. In room fireplace was fabulous.. Clean cozy room.. Friendly staff.. Nice short walk to the lake and walking trails. 5 stars
Beautiful lobby and conference rooms. Hotel rooms are ok.
The rooms smelled musty, but they were very comfortable and clean. The bar area was great to hang out in and you can take your drinks back to your room. Great experience
best vacation spot for entire family!! cedar point 10 mins away!! Salmon Run resturant AMAZING!! great chef..great service...great food!!
If you're interested in the outdoors, this place has what you like. If you're interested in a good night's rest, this isn't the place.
The beds were extremely firm. Waking up throughout the night with aching hips and back aren't something I'd expect from a hotel, but this one provided it.
The room itself was sadly outdated and in need of repair in some spots. Mainly the rug. The bathroom, while somewhat updated, had slow drains and poor ventilation.
The "resort" has a cozy feel that just completely ends at the door to your room.
Also, TNT was the best movie channel available.
We won't be back.
Beautiful place. One of the best locations I've seen for a wedding reception!
Refused to refund our money when we checked out early, our toilet didnt work, cable didn't work, front desk staff reported that there was no manager we could speak with and wouldn't give a name or phone number for complaints.
We have gone to Sawmill Creek for a church conference for a few years now and each year has improved. The service has been stellar, the facilities are clean, the administration has done a great job of communicating with our church administration, even smaller things like good wifi, and good restaurants close by. We have really enjoyed our times here.
Staff needs a courtesy course. Not very friendly. Room had a funky smell. Stains on the carpet. Room was not cleaned well during our stay. Service in restaurant was slow and food was overpriced with a limited menu. I checked out a day early (even though I paid for another night) because I couldn't get any sleep having a room right by the stairs.
The 12 noon time reservation was running about 15 minutes behind. Told the hotess we had ten adults, one child and one infant in our group and then was lead to a table that had seating for ten. Informed them that twelve didn't fit in ten chairs, they wanted to squeeze in two more chairs to the already crowded seating. We stood for about ten minutes while they tried to figure a solution. Thankfully our waitress advised them we could use the table next to us since it was assigned to her. Her service was great. Our drinks were served in Solo plastic cups (they use glass glasses for their brunch). The turkey was great along with the beef, same bland carrots as always, stuffing was dry, yams were so tender that they we're turning to mush but we're tasty. The rest of the food was fine and they had a good selection of desserts. This is the only place I have been charged a 18 per cent gratuity for a buffet meal. The cost of the meal calculates to $35.00 a head after gratuity and taxes. Kind of makes Bob Evans $15.95 buffet tempting.
God awful, and customer support is non-existent. They have a don t bother me with all your complaints attitude. Save your money for a better deserving resort.
The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly. I like a firm bed and felt that this year the bed was in better shape than the past few years (attending an annual weekend convention.) The only issue is at the resort's restaurant, where it always seems to be understaffed for a busy weekend. We also discovered that we could order from the bar menu as well as the regular dinner menu, even though it was not offered to us. The bar menu also had a better variety of food that was less expensive. The restaurant definitely needs to change to automatically include this menu at every meal!
The room was great and clean and the meeting rooms and hospitality were awesome!
My wife and I stayed a couple of nights in the Shawnee. It was a beautiful room with a fireplace, Jacuzzi, king-size bed, hide-away bed, and a nice TV. I have zero complaints about the room.
We went to one of the restaurants, the Salmon Run. Food and service was top notch. They had a band show up later in the evening. Even did a little bit of dancing with the misses.
We also went on a hiking trail. It took us to the marina, small beach and then through the woods. It was a little chilly but well worth it. Lots of scenic views.
Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would certainly do it again.
The conference room's are real spacious and professional looking plus beverage service is a amazing nice display
Just returned from a wonderful weekend here! In spite of water main problems, the facilities were great.....clean, organized, nice staff, very good restaurants...couldn't ask for anything else. Definitely our "go to" place on the North Coast!! Can't wait to go back!
Friendly and professional staff. Room decor is a little dated, but the rustic feel has a certain charm.
Very nice place. Staff is friendly and rooms are clean. Could use some updating/modernizing but over all very nice.
It's very comfy. No matter where you sit you fall asleep
Went for a family reunion and stayed the weekend. Had a wonderful time, beautiful resort, lots to do, would definitely recommend.
The exterior is gorgeous! Inside of the rooms reminded me of Motel 6, but not as great. There wasn't even a mini fridge. The outdoor pool was so cloudy you couldn't see your feet in the 3 ft shallow end.
Great place to stay. We loved the pool. Comfortable beds. Would stay again
Nice accommodations. Staff extremely helpful. Rooms are well appointed and clean.
Kind of pricey but worth it for the amenities. Pool, golf, private beach. Room was dated but clean and comfortable.
Great staff that was helpful and a fun family resort for the locals in the winter!
It was a nice room. A bit pricey for what it was but it was nice. The outdoor pool closed a bit early.
Fortunately, I'll never have to stay here again. Room was ok, but overpriced compared to many motels we stay at. Didn't bother with overpriced restaurants. Room maintenance ok; towels very nice. While the front desk people were cordial on check-in, it was pretty obvious they really weren't interested in having our (very large) group of dogs and people here. WiFi - the best I can say is that it didn't completely suck, just mostly.
Had a sisters overnite..did the winery shuttle to 2 places. Nice location and amenities.Problem was when we checked out we were quoted one price then charged $100 more. Tried to dispute it and they told us we were wrong!
Make sure you get confirmation in writing. They said they emailed it to me but I never received. Poor management. Too bad because it is a nice place.
I was only able to utilize the rooms and conference center during my stay. The facility was well sized and clean; however, was in need of updating.
It's a nice place. Internet was no up for a couple hundred people and a live video stream but overall a positive experience. Nice area but not many good restaurants nearby.
Excellent shower curtains. I like the way the sinks are in the bathroom. There is spotty WiFi, no micro-fridge in rooms, no complimentary breakfast, and ice machines are down in several locations. They will do anything they can to make your stay pleasant. Very nice people. People come here for the location, not the modernity of the accommodations.
I wasn't there long. It's ok. It's about to get better since Cedar Point bought.
Worst place to stay in this area! I have stayed her 4 different times for a conference and every time it's a terrible experience. The rooms either smell like mold or like someone dumped a bottle of spray to cover up the smell of mold. The rooms (both meeting and hotel rooms)are either 10 degress or 100 degrees and you can never get it to stay comfortable. The meeting rooms are so spread out (some are near a bathroom some you have to walk a great deal). Any time we go for a conference they split up our rooms so we are never near our group (they always seem to put the people that have disabilities in the further rooms so they have to walk a great deal). This past time we arrived for a conference that they knew was going to have 200+ people at and started at 11am. We arrived at 10 am and tried to check in (was told the room wasn't quite ready..no big deal at that point), Checked back a few hours later still no room. Did not get my room until 5:15 (an hour and 15 minutes after normal 4pm check in time and 7 hours after arriving). Had a reception at 5:30 so I had no time to shower or get ready. The reception food was good however breakfast was terrible, the bacon was dripping in oil, they had no bread, bagels, the potatoes were dry, the eggs were slimy. I have given this place multiple chances and NEVER is it a good experience.
Great place, a little disappointed in the lack of amenities. For example, I wasn't able to get toothpaste at the front desk and there weren't bags for laundry in the room. Not a big deal, but the little things that were missing bothered me.
Very cozy place with friendly staff. Our band has played for a corporate party in their ballroom the last couple of years. We always look forward to coming back. The Sunday brunch is fantastic! Christmas light display is nice too. A good place to take the family for the holidays.
Beautiful setting. I attended a conference at the retreat center. The meeting rooms were comfortable. The hotel rooms were nothing extravagant, but were nice enough with good hearing.
Wonderful meeting and conference accomodation, dining and recreation, travel and tourism spot.
Check in was very slow. They would not let us check in until exactly 4. The room was also supposed to have a crib and did not. Room was okay but the beds were not comfortable. Golf course is nice though.
Stayed here two years ago without issue though in a different section. The last trip is going to taint the memory of the good experience. Worst beds in any hotel we've been in the last 15 years. That issue alone wouldn't be enough to make any sort of complaint but not having Wi-Fi for four days isn't something that is acceptable by current standards. The staff is so accustomed to complaints about the issue that their standard reply is there are too many people in your area using it at the same time. Which could possibly be a legitimate excuse except that we have tried to log on at all time throughout the day with only two or three minutes of it working at a time. There is obviously an issue that no one is interested in fixing after multiple complaints because they expect issues.
This is a review for the Easter buffet. In a word, it was awful! I have never tasted such tasteless food in my life, and the quality should have been so much better considering the price that we paid. I was expecting gourmet or at least "homemade" food for the price, but all it was was heated up meat, thawed out desserts from Sam's Club, and side dishes out of a tub or can. The breads were stale and hard, and the mashed potatoes were instant. The peel and eat shrimp were not cleaned and had black spots all over them. Plus, they added a $23.00 gratuity for someone who filled our water glasses twice in plastic glasses. Seriously? It was just unbelievable! We'll never eat here again!
The facility is "tired and worn.". Sheets were threadbare, bathrooms haven't seen much attention in years, much of the carpeting is filthy, and rooms have a musty odor about them. This once great facility is no longer. I'd compare it to a fair "Motel 6."
The place is nice and close to other entertainments, such as Cedar Point, Sawmill Creek Golf Course, Sheldon Marsh State Nature Preserve, Lake Erie, & Osborn Recreation Area. The room clean, wide, and well organized. Also, there are TV, coffee maker, closet, & small dining table. Main building includes conference rooms, dining areas, a cafe, and multiple areas of different themes to read or relax, i.e. having me time.
Why three stars:
1- It was noticeable that the TV and bedsheets were old for a place that charged $$$ per night.
2- The bathtub was clogged. I did not bother myself to call the front desk, since I m staying for one night.
3- There is only one elevator near to front desk, and if one has lots of stuff and the room is at the end of the hotel enjoy a long journey of about 10 minutes.
Nice place. Would have been 5 stars if there was a microwave oven and a refrigerator in the room.
Great facility, with friendly staff and lots of amenities!
Stopped by to see the dog show. Great! Have had good food there too
Went to the Irish Setter obedience/ rally show in the ballroom. Nice facilities, obviously the place works well with dog groups.
The mothers day buffet was so bad. Overpriced poor service and the food wasnt even edible.
Went for a mother's day brunch, the food was good, service was excellent as always. This was not my first time here as I have been here for several holidays and service is always great and the food is always pretty good.
we went for an evening and thought we would relax. The beds were so uncomfortable I thought the springs were going to come through our backs. Then a dog was barking all night. It is totally ridiculous to let dogs in a resort like that. Once I complained the barking stopped. By that time it was 11p.m. The pillows were horrible as well. I think all the rooms need to be updated as well. When we walked in to check in no one was at the front desk. Waited a few minutes and finally someone came out. It was still early 5:30pm. I was not impressed with the room at all. We went to breakfast and when we came back our room was being cleaned. We haven't even checked out yet. Very unprofessional.
I told the front desk clerk while we were checking out and she seemed to be shocked as well. We will not be back.
Visited for the Easter buffet lunch and everything was great!
Happy to see that Cedar Point has bought this place, but they have a long way to go. The only good thing I can say is the staff was friendly, and the resort has some cool Native American decor, but it's very, very outdated! The pool was giant, and well the part next to the pool that looks like a hot tub was just a whirlpool which was disappointing. Turned the heat on in the room because that was the only way to keep it warm and it had such a terrible smell it set off the smoke detector. The beds were about to break, I was very surprised I made it sleeping and moving in it without it breaking. Overall I would never stay here again or recommend it!!
Hello,
It's not often I complain about things. However, my experience at your resort was by far the worst experience I've ever had. When we arrived we noticed signs saying you were under a boil alert and to ask the front desk for bottles of water. I went to the front desk and was told you ran out of water at 3pm (it was now 6) and if I wanted water I would have to go to the store and purchase my own. Next, dinner, we went to the restaurant with the large deck overlooking the pond. After being seated and began ordering our food, we were then told we could not order any entries.... once the food we ordered was brought to us, it was hardly edible. My chicken was so dry I could barely chew it and my boyfriends burger was severely over cooked and was rubbery. After "dinner" we headed back to our room in hopes to get warm and comfy and get a good night sleep before returning home the next morning... those beds were the worst beds I have ever experienced. I tossed and turned all night and woke up every hour. By morning my back felt like it was in knots, I was in pain, I had gotten little to no sleep and had to drive all the way home. This experience was terrible and I will never recommend your resort to anyone!!!
