I love this place, especially at the holidays. My family comes every year for thanksgiving and Christmas brunch. This year I thought it was a little tacky that they used plastic cups for the brunch, but the food was delicious. They even had a donut wall which I thought was adorable.
Very expensive for what was delivered. Staff were rude and rooms are outdated. Some lamps in the room didn't work. For $160 a night, I thought it would be better.
Sure a little pricey but their 2 for 1 really makes it. A course you should play a least once every year or 2. Lots of challenges let alone the wind of the lake which can chill to the bone in spring and fall. Not my fav but maybe yours. Cedar Fair just bought it last fall. Everbody should play it at least once.
Nice course.
Bad WiFi and bad showers. Other than that very beautiful surroundings. Best to go if your a golfer. Otherwise not bad but not extraordinary. Fair. 3 stars
I want to a wedding here it was very nice, never golfed their however
Beautiful area, very nice hotel and friendly staff.
Went for a Dog show meeting and had dinner in one of the large banquet halls, it was one of the worst moments of the day. There was only two meal choices for the dog show chicken or fish. Having chose fish, I should have picked the chicken. The chicken was served almost ten minutes before the fish came. The meal had asparagus, which was crunchy from dirt, rice was mediocre and salmon. The only thing good was the fish. But the service was poor, they didn't serve us drinks just water or of you wanted to spend big on a small thing of alcohol. Coffee after dinner kept running out as they served and they completely skipped our table and took away the clean cups as if they were dirty but left the dirty dishes on the table to pile up.
The hotel seemed like it had seen better days, and this was not it. The staff was clueless of what was going on.
I don't know if I want to go back until they change the service.
I have no clue how this place has 4 stars. Room was absolutely disgusting and the service did absolutely nothing to rectify the fact. Immediately upon entering the room, there were dead spiders, spider webs, and peeling walls/paint.
There was a live ant colony (yes, ants!) living in the carpet and the bathroom door was broken so it wouldn't shut. When these issues were brought to management's attention, they didn't so much as apologize. Was then told that they couldn't offer a refund because they have a 72-hour cancellation policy.
They also took a $100 deposit when the room was booked, so essentially we spent hundreds of dollars on a room you couldn't pay me to stay in. Ended up staying in a motel down the road that was MUCH cheaper and had no ants.
Needs to be updated. Carpet was falling apart in the room. Our server at dinner was overwhelmed, blamed the cooks for everything, and made a very ignorant comment.
We stopped in to see about blocking rooms for a family wedding we have coming up in the area. Turns out they were already booked for the weekend we needed. The lady at the desk was nice and we took a look around the lodge. Seemed like a well maintained place, but it wasn't going to work for our needs.
I just want to preface this with the fact that this is a dying "resort". The owners have clearly no interest in reinvesting so the property and amenities are naturally starting to show their wear. The golf course is nice and well maintained although oversold as something top tier honestly on par with about any metro parks course in the area. The private beach is nice and probably the highlight of this place albeit covered in washed up dead carps. The salmon run restaurant was good but nothing to write home about about on par with any mediocre chain restaurant (here's looking at you longhorn). The indoor and outdoor pools are large but unheated. The "hot tub" was like luke warm bath water with no jets running so if you're looking forward to that be ready. I am not exaggerating btw to say it wasnt as warm as I'd like it was no where near any reasonable temp for a hot tub. All of this is not really a big deal in my mind except for the service if not for the poor service this would likely still be a 4 star review. So we reserved 2 rooms and after some fighting we got one of the rooms. We were told the hotel was at capacity and that this was causing some delays however roaming the long empty halls and noticing the parking lots barren we thought that was a stretch. Anyway 4 o clock rolls around so we want our second room. We go to the front desk to be told that it's not ready and that the 4 o clock check in time is only when it begins and that they dont know when it'll be ready. She is acting as though she is very busy even though we are literally the only people in the lobby. We walk back to the room and then they call to say they've cleaned the room and it's now ready even though it's only been a couple minutes and no cleaning cart has come. The attitude of the front desk associate was incredible it was as if anyone checking in the hotel she works at was a personal inconvenience to her even though that's literally her job. Oh yeah they didnt clean the coffee pot so when we wanted a cup in the morning we had to scrub the pot out. I almost forgot that we tried to order room service at 8 o clock (which they supposedly stop at 9) on saturday which when I called I was informed that "we dont do room service on Saturdays" which is either a bold faced lie or the worst business decision I've ever heard. No wifi or on demand on the tv. Just cable and a hard ethernet port but that's fine for me.
The staff are attentive and helpful. They are extremely accommodating to such a large group. The rooms are beautiful. I enjoy spending time at this resort.
Room was clean and comfortable. Staff was very nice and helpful
Breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner are the best meals iv had in Ohio and they keep the whole log cabin/ Canadian theme throughout the whole resort, defiantly 5 stars
We stay at sawmill Creek every year with a very large group of people, it is always a pleasant experience. The rooms are always clean, and the staff is always very friendly and accommodating. The pool is nice and clean, and the facility is very large. Not a lot of great restaurants near by, but I do recommend mekongs, it's really good. I have never eaten at the restaurant at sawmill.
I was only there taking pictures for prom, the staff seemed entirely irritated we were there.
Business lunch was perfect, Service and food both were great, as expected.
Great place to spend the weekend! Big inside yet home like. Indoor pool is nice for a family
Awesome place for events! Also offers many places for communal hangout. Only complaint is the showers temperatures can be unstable.
Good sized suite, cozy areas to relax around resort, large meeting space. Generally enjoy my time at this resort.
Location was nice, friendly service, helpful employees
To say the least, I do NOT reccomend staying here. To start, my family travels a lot, therefore seeing the star rating and its a resort lets go for it. Big mistake. We got in our room, noticed a slight smell; but we just dropped our things off and headed over to the insight restraunt to get some dinner. We were at the restraunt for roughly 1.5 hours and had yet to get food let alone see our server more than 1 time. Therefore we found another server and asked to pay for our drinks so we could go,somewhere else to eat (9:30 pm at this time). So we left found a local Mexican place and ate. Came back to the resort and attempted to sleep. About 2am after I had yet to sleep, my husband is sleeping and my 15 year is asleep; I just could not handle the smell any longer. I woke my husband to go to the front desk. The room smelled like a mixture between cigerette smoke and mold, amd when the air kicked on the smell intensified. They guy at the front desk was super nice, he gave us a spray to help mask the smell for the night. I went back to the front desk and told them I want to cancel my reservation for tonight and that i want a refund. I would not recommend staying here, the place really needs to be updated. RUN!
Virtually empty; restaurant not open; will not return. Nothing like it used to be;
The grounds are great. I'm not a golfer but having the ability to rent a bike and ride through the hills to a private beach was a great highlight of Sawmill Creek. The convention center isn't bad either. The staff did not look happy and could just be over worked or have a lack of support. It made it difficult to get great sevice for drinks and breakfast. The lodge part could use an update as there were many carpet stains and dark colors.
A beautiful place to spend and afternoon walking in nature
The Mother's Day brunch was very crowded, but servers did a great job keeping up.
Beautiful place but it looked almost deserted...lol.
Some of the places were hard to get to as a lot of the buildings all looked the same, but the staff was very friendly.
Sawmill Creek is a great "off the grid" type resort. Really nice resort, very relaxing. Pricing of food and drink is average for a hotel but decent quality.
Went to run a booth at a career fair. Nice place! Unfortunately wasn't there long enough to explore much.
Great customer service. We had a fantastic weekend celebrating my parents anniversary there. Superb focus on every detail in planning and during the weekend. Lisa Wood made our time there very memorable. I would highly recommend Sawmill Creek
The service in the two restaurants is horrible, we came with a group of over 100 people, waited over an hour to ORDER. 1.5 hours later we received our CHECK (before our food SMH) We have never been to a restaurant that you get your check before your food. A second server told us that our first server was dropped off from Cedar Point and told see you later. The two burgers were rare I went to the front desk twice to tell them how bad it was. The rooms have no refrigerators or microwaves you need to pay an extra $10 for a refrigerator. They did an excellent job with the group party the second night but the resort is very outdated and needs to be remodeled.
Was there for a wedding, the staff involved with the wedding and other arrangements could not have been better. The food was great. Guest rooms were older. Had an problem with a slow/plugged tub drain that I had to ask 3 times to get addressed. They did show up after I got frustrated and asked for the manager.
Honestly I would have started with WOW but the only thing impressing about this vacation destination is the outside. This place truly needs an upgrade. I stayed at the Red Roof Hotel and even that came with a mini fridge and microwave, this place does not. Although the golf course, shops and surrounding area was beautiful I felt that I didn't want to come back to the room. No place to store food from the surrounding areas, the shower/tub did not drain well at all, the water temperature of the shower was sporadically changing temperature every 15 seconds from cold to extremely hot; which in my opinion would be a death trap for the elder individuals whom are not agile enough to move out of the way in a hurry. Outside pool was super cold, indoor pool was luke warm and Jacuzzi was pathetically cold. I am not one to complain but for the price you would expect a lot more from this place. As stated this place is in a beautiful area and truly a vacation destination but the manager or property owner needs to invest in appliances and better plumbing. That is just the beginning and I will not go too far into details besides to let the light sleepers know that you will not sleep well here. The beds are outdated and super uncomfortable. Each and every spring you will feel which causes pain and discomfort. Does not seem that they clean very well under the beds. I am on day 4 with minimal sleep and my wife has a bruise on her hip from which she sleeps on. Beds should not cause this much issue for the price you are charged. The disclaimer should state "Beautiful Outdoor area with lots of activity but do not plan on sleeping good, storing food or drinks or enjoying your time in the shower... PERIOD". Not to mention the janitors slam every door in the resort at about 10 am and for people traveling from other areas the time difference has not kicked in yet.
Moderately clean, very cozy, and beautiful decor. Staff definitely needs help in hospitality, not that modern, and seems rather "nickle and dimey." Other than that our stay was wonderful, very beautiful place.
Resort bed I can sleep in was a huge plus. Food was good.
Beautiful resort that has it all. Would give it five stars but the resort was built on an Indian burial ground. During the construction, they removed the tombstones but didn't remove the bodies, which caused an evil spirit to trap our daughter in another dimension. They offer free wifi, but they charge extra for paranormal investigators.
Outdoor pool is not operational. The Ice machines were broken or missing as well. Overall it's beginning to show signs of disrepair.
A fairly long place with many rooms. A bit old the style of the rooms but comfortable. A good bar and restaurant on site too.
Stayed at Sawmill Creek for a convention. First off, it's a really nice looking place with a lot of amenities, but outside of that, my stay was awful. The beds in the Deluxe Double were just really cheap spring mattresses that gave both me and my girlfriend back pain, the blankets were thin and stiff, there's apparently a $50 extra deposit for using a credit card that wasn't told to me until I noticed it on my statement (They have a sign stating it applies to debit, but anyone with a 3rd grade education knows that credit and debit are completely different) and it won't even go back into my account for the better part of a week because, you know, a tank of gas wouldn't've come in handy or at least some advance warning of this ludicrous preemptive charge for room service that only stupid people use to begin with, someone pulled the fire alarm at 7am and absolutely no information was relayed to any of the people staying there, the Wifi didn't work and there were no Ethernet cables in the room to use wired internet. The icing on the cake was the fact that there were only 4 outlets in the entire room. We had to choose between lights and having a charged phone for the drive home.
If I ever go to this convention again, I will most definitely be staying at a different hotel.
This is a nice place for a retreat or corporate event. Everything is located on the premises and there are tons of rooms. It is reasonably priced.
Went to the Black Bear Saloon yesterday. Food was delicious and cooked the way it was ordered. Entertainment was exceptional. The Band Cruisin was there. They were absolutely awesome! Had a great time!
Rooms were perfect for our large group. We came here for a convention, and the staff is lovely. Though parking is a bit of a pain (due to a lot of events happening in the area currently), I highly recommend this place. The atmosphere is really chill, the pool is awesome, and just the area itself is gorgeous. I'd definitely stay here again.
Hotel rooms are severely dated with limited access to amenities like refrigerators in room; and only then with an additional daily fee. They will waive the fee if you're a type I diabetic but only if you take your insulin out of your luggage in the lobby at check in and physically show it to them. Embarrassing to say the least if not a HIPPA violation. On the positive side, the overall Lodge itself, pools, conference area, and park grounds are nice!
The hotel itself was nice, but our room could have been better. The bed was stiff and without any padding for cushioning. The shower water temperature fluctuated; I set it for a temperature I wanted and every 10 seconds or so there would be a flash of extremely hot water. Laslty, we could hear the normal conversation from the people in the room next to us.
I was just dropping something off to a friend that works there.
We ate food and service was great! One thing is I ask for medium rare for my burger, and I recieve medium well.
I used to work there... beautiful person and a beautiful place
We went to Sawmill for Mother's Day lunch. The lunch was wonderful. It's was really good and they got you and out as expected
This place was perfect! The rooms were very clean, the breakfast was amazing, and the staff members were so nice. The decor gave a very hollistic nature vibe, which was very comforting. The pools were clean as well. We will definitely be back to enjoy the other amenities this resort has to offer!
The thanksgiving brunch was wonderful! The food was fresh and delicious. Ballroom was beautifully decorated. The entire staff was super friendly, prompt and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
The grounds are very nice, but the rooms are musky and dark. This "resort", was bought by cedar point. So I'd wait a good year before booking a room here
The price was extremely high compared to the value. Bed felt like we were sleeping on a box spring. No plug ins by the bed to charge phones. Only found 3 that didn t have a heavy piece of furniture in front of it ( that includes the bathroom) we had to move furniture out to reach the other two.
Coffee maker in the room is designed for 4 to 6 cups of coffee but they give you ONE coffee pack that made coffe look like tea. Had to go to the restaurant and purchase a cup every morning.
Will not return here. Now I have to go to the doctor to get my back so I m not in pain.
Love the golf course if prices were lower I would golf there every weekend I have available
It's not a bad facility, but it's becoming dated, without a ton of renovations. Indoor pool room is very humid, but a very cool environment and hot tub. The native American decorations around the hotel are very cool.
Resort, restaurants, shopping closed, pending remodel; golf club open, but course needs work; will also close over winter until remodel complete.
Unfortunately we were unable to stay d/t noticing some sort of bugs most like bed bugs I'm guessing in one of the beds upon checking into our room. Luckily we always check the beds everywhere we go stay first. However, customer service was wonderful and very professional and understanding and issued a full refund upon customer request. Take caution!
Very nice Hotel with comfortable beds and good customer service
The golf course is always in great shape! It's a challenging course especially if it is a windy day. You can get deals on golf now which helps since it is a higher end course
Conference location was beautiful, offered plenty of accessible hiking and park areas.
The facilities were well maintained and the staff were friendly. Plenty of signs made it easy to get there.
