Room was clean and pleasent, and robes are provided. Both pools are pretty and maintained, but there is no hot tub. There was a small water feature I thought was a hot tub, but the water was tepid and there were no jets. Tv didn't work either night of our stay and they sent someone to fix it at 9:30 am on our last day. This is a huge resort, and it's all well maintained

This place doesn't even deserve one star! The rooms are very outdated and not worth the price. We paid for a suite (with a fireplace) and the fireplace didn't even work. We went to the front desk asking about the amenities that the resort has (aka sunset cruise, travel to cedar point, shuttle service, etc) which is all stated on the website and in the book in the room. She then told us that none of those existed and continued to rudely tell us we didn't know what we were talking about. The hot tub didn't even have hot water and we were put under boil alert the next morning.
Stayed three nights. At first I wasn't so sure about this place...... carpeting is a bit dated..... It was late at night when we arrived so I could have just been tired. Room was very clean and well maintained. You could see that rhe caulking around the tub and countertop was new. Housekeeping did a great job every day. Coffee maker in the room didn't brew well so we haf to go to the restaurant for to-go cups in the morning. The outdoor pool is large and lovely, with a lifeguard present at all times (even when empty.) The indoor pool is a bit small, but the hot tub could likely hold 12-16 people. We would like to see the poolside bar be open, as promised. It never happened. There are so many things to do. We went to the marina. The water on the lake was too choppy for kayaks, so we went to the private beach. They have plastic Adirondack chairs they for whomever. This was a nice surprise. The employees are all very pleasant and helpful. We didn't eat much on campus, so cannot comment on the food. The price of the rooms is very reasonable...... we will be back.
The bedrooms smelled of Body Odor and the bathrooms rebaked of mold there was stains on the carpet and around the toilet seat. An unpleasant stay, will not stay there again and would never recommend this place.
Place is a dump.. room smelled and when we tryed to go swimming at 9:40 pm there was no less then 50 kids under no supervision at pool screening at the top of there lungs and hit my girlfriend with a tennis ball.. left a big welt on her leg.. when I told them at the front desk what happen I was told oh well it's a Holliday .. the girl at desk said I can leave the motel if I don't like it .. somehow I wasn't surprised .
Staff was courteous, professional, and extremely helpful. They were a pleasure to work besides. Their interactions with patrons, guests, and vendors was exemplary.
Sawmill creek resort is an extravagant place to visit. They place is well maintained and looks absolutely gorgeous. Service is amazing. Employees like to home around with everyone and make the stay more enjoyable.
Location is wonderful. Very relaxing place on the lake. Golf course is nice. Staff if very friendly and accommodating to all needs. Room are clean and everything in them works. The on-site restaurants have great seafood dishes at more than reasonable prices.
You can t always go by reviews, but I can tell you my experience was enjoyable. Sawmill Creek Resort is a very nice place. Better than I expected. The room was clean. The restaurant had good food. However, the restaurant was a little understaffed over the Labor Day weekend, but the service was good overall. Still giving Sawmill 5 Stars! Would highly recommend for a weekend get-a-way and would go there again.
Hadn't been opened in awhile so had the closed up smell. Security locks into hotel buildings not working. Carpet was stained, AC had musty odor which drove my allergies crazy. Bed was comfortable though, water hot, and friendly staff for the most part. Could've been better, could've been worse. It was for a wedding so I wouldn't stumble upon this place on my own otherwise. Bars and restaurants in the hotel close way too early.
Very comfortable with plenty of day activities, great environment, private beach, and great food. Also, I forgot some of my clothes and the hotel was nice enough to ship my clothes to Utah free of charge!
Tonight my husband and I were at Sawmill for his company Awards Banquet. It was, as always a very enjoyable evening. The staff was amazing, the food was great. They have had their company Christmas parties there for years too. This is our most favorite place. They had had it other places( the really huge waterpark) I personally do not like it there , they don't even decorate for Christmas. Sawmill always was decorated beautifully. And we would stay there overnight as it was pretty reasonable. I hope now that Cedar Point owns it that won't change and next year we can have it there again. Thank you Sawmill
Ok so we check in for a quiet night away. More then shocked to find out there is a dog show convention going on. And no where on the website is this mentioned. So much for peace !!!
It was very nice clean well ran the people that deliver our food to us we're really polite there right there to pick up trash they say it was very very nice
What a total disappointed from no ice, no food services (both restaurants were closed, frigid hallways and public spaces and a cost of $143.00. Friends and my husband and I had so looked forward to a relaxing time at what is described as ..."affordable luxury with four restaurants, ...indoor pool, sandy beach...and breath taking beauty" which was totally unavailable for us. If we had been informed that the restaurants and other amenities were unavailable ahead of time, that would have been acceptable but we found out services were not operating when we arrived after driving. The plus were the women who worked the front desk. They were very pleasant and apologetic. Save your money ...there's lot of better places.
Large resort. Lots of space and potential for a great place to stay. Rooms are run down and out dated. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Understand that Cedar point just recently bought and has many upgrades planned. Looking forward to seeing the improvements
Location was quite nice, but the beds were cheap mattresses, the furniture was cheaply made and tough to slide the drawers and bedframes had staples sticking out. Seems great for the experience of the resort, but less so for the sleeping areangements.
I loved this resort. The only reason I didn t give it 5 stars because if your looking for a new state of the art resort this isn t it. If your looking for something with charm and numerous amenities this is your place. We enjoyed the private beach until the early morning hours and enjoyed live music at the bar one evening as well. The service was excellent, I would stay here again.
Date of Visit: May 17 & 18, 2019 We stayed here for a couple of days. There was a Dalmatian Specialty here before we arrived. The rooms are very spacious and clean. The beds are clean, and no critters. The beds are very dated and not as comfortable as I would hope for. There were only a few pillows on each bed, and the pillows were very thin and uncomfortable.
The bathroom was clean and well maintained.
The decor of this hotel is quite fun. Very country cottage - rustic lodge chic. There are great native American motifs, hunting themes, and other log cabin lodge looks. Each building is connected but individually named to identify your section. there is plenty of onsite parking. there is free wifi but it is spotty in some rooms.
there are a few restaurants in the property to eat at. The staff are very friendly and helpful. They do charge extra for fridges in the rooms.
The grounds are very nice, well maintained - it is a golf course.
There is a nice pool and a gym on site as well, that are perfect.
Wonderful site which hosted our family reunion. Staff is friendly and helpful and they have lots of options to suit needs. Some spaces are not 100% wheel chair accessible so make sure to take that into consideration as it applies to you.
Very nice, clean restrooms, clean lobby and hallways. Lots of room for conferences. The restaurant is very cool with a lodge feel. Waterfall in the lobby area. Native American theme throughout. If I were anywhere near the area I would stay here. Looks like some nice golfing too.
HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Beautiful place. My husband and I came for a relaxing weekend away for the first time in 2 years alone without our kids for my birthday and our anniversary weekend. The 290$ a night Jacuzzi suite king room had food on the floor like it wasn t vacuumed from the guests that stayed the night prior and dust and spider webs all along the deck part of the jacuzzi. The continental breakfast was absolutely horrible. No servers came to our table and asked us if we needed anything. I actually went and asked one of the Waitresses if she could bring us coffee and she never even came back. We Eventually just ended up leaving going to the gift shop and buying on own 8oz 2.50$ Cup of coffee from the gift shop. The pub was out of almost everything we tried to order, and when we decided to just go in our room to just try and relax and order room service the phone number for (room service) would just keep ringing. After 15 mins of trying it went to a busy signal. My husband then went down to the saloon and waited 50 mins for a pizza that was cold When they gave it to him. This was the top of the cake... after all the bad experiences we decided we just wanted to Sit this on a beautiful beach next to a fire. There was an empty one all set up with chairs around it. It was perfect. All of a sudden a man that works there came up to us told us he was putting out the fire and we could not have one there.... mind you... it was already set up, probably about 15 feet from the other one they had going. My husband I were completely caught off guard Considering we were told by more than one person that we were allowed to do that. The man then put the fire out. My husband and I just decided to let things go and just for a walk on the beach until then about 10 mins later that same man restarted the same fire he just put on 10 mins prior. I took pictures of him doing so In disbelief that someone could be so unprofessional not to mention he made us feel completely embarrassed and uncomfortable... when you spend 300$ plus a night you expect to be treated well. This was a complete disappointment that we spent a month planning not to mention we live a few hours away. We will never return. Such a shame because it really is such a beautiful place needs way better management and employees.
Its not too bad. Llamas are the predominant animal thats everywhere, and way too many of then. Giraffes not interested in coming remotely close to vehicles, and it cannget expensive. The walk through park was nice, and worth a stop for sure. Little girl enjoyed the camel ride as well.
I had a pretty good experience here, but I will say they need to invest some serious money to update all the facilities. The plumbing was terrible and the buildings felt very old and tired. However, the staff was nice and the food was good. The views from the beach were also beautiful.
I went to Sawmill Creek Resort for the Mother's Day brunch. Personally the venue was great it wasn't super crowded and honestly I believe that it was better then the Easter brunch that we tried at Kalahari. Whenever we go to Sawmill Creek it's always a very family-oriented place which I am very thankful for. It's also not as crowded I feel. And it's really nice just to always be on the water of Lake Erie.
We booked a hall for prom at the school my wife teaches at. The staff was extremely helpful with set-up and making sure the event started of smoothly. The food was good and everyone was served at the same time. We will definitely be using this establishment for our proms in the future.
My family wanted to feel like we were on a beach vacation without the 9 or 10 hour drive. We made a great choice when staying at Sawmill Creek Resort. My husband golfed while my son and his friend swam at the private beach.. We even got to witness a wedding at the beach. We played basketball, rented bikes, swam at the lake and pool, and had a great meals at the restaurant. We only left the resort one day and that was so we could take the kids to Cedar Point. I would definitely stay there again.
Went to Sawmill for just 1 night with my husband to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. Staff was wonderful! Our room was a king suite with fireplace and had a jacuzzi tub. Our room was clean and spacious. Went to the Saloon for drinks and dinner. We had the filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and green beans. The filet melted like butter in our mouth. The service was excellent. We truly enjoyed everything about our stay and would definitely recommend Sawmill to our family and friends.
DO NOT STAY HERE. THIS PLACE IS A CON. THE EMPLOYEES ARE SCUMBAGS RIGHT DOWN TO THE ROOM SERVICE ALL THE WAY TO THE HOTEL MANAGER. ALL ARE DECEITFUL DISHONEST PEOPLE. FALSE ADVERTISING. STEALING OF PROPERTY. EXTRA CHARGES. REFUSAL TO RETURN ANY CALLS. THIS PLACE WILL BEND YOU OVER AND TAKE IT WITH OUT ASKING. GO SOME WHERE ELSE OR HAVE YOUR VACATION RUINED.
Overall is a very nice, the aesthetic of the meeting areas, pool, and rooms tied together nicely. Rooms are a bit spread out, some were lacking on usable outlets for charging phones, and were a bit of a hike to the meeting areas, but they were very clean and functional. All of the staff that I interacted with were helpful and courteous.
It's a nice get away place for the weekend. The pool and the tennis courts we're in excellent shape. There was also a golf course, but I did not use it. The beach was a disappointment. It was quite a distance from the resort and was little more than a swampy lagoon.
Outdoor bar closed. Mulligan's pub closed. Mariners restaurant is also closed. The manager Sarah doesn't feel there is anything wrong about giving customers promotional material at check in that list these restaurants on the property. As she said "I can't open a restaurant that has been closed for 2 years!". Property is NOT as advertised. Manager offered nothing as a result of our complaints
